The first time I ever stepped foot in this shop the owner gave me a price for mani/pedi which I though t was extremely high right after the pandemic. Once I expressed my concern she told me how much rent she pays. That had nothing to do with me and her choice of a store front. So I left and it was about 8 months when I returned and had a phenomenal guy by the name of Tommy who was my particular guy that only did my nails. Last week of April I walked in shared a text I sent to Tommy about coming in. The owner explained he had family matter and suggested someone else. Then she said wait let me call her she hangs outside. She did I waited and I left. Time is consuming. Today of this review I called to ask for Tommy again and the owner was TUDE once again told me he wasn't coming back. So I paused to ask her would noon be ok. Unfortunately, my pause showed her impatience and she said call back when you think about it and hung up in my ear. What makes you think I will not prohibit customers I know NOT TO PATRONIZE YOUR SHOP??? With an attitude like that no wonder you charge so much because you have to make up the money lost for a bad attitude. No thanks ever again. read more

I have been going to this salon for over 5 years and have always left satisfied, but Thursday and Friday was such a disappointment. This gentlemen did my pedicure and Friday and kept cutting my toe and told me I have a lot of skin so I have to be patient. I gave him a little lead way and booked an appoint for Friday for a manicure. It was always something I was doing wrong, from telling me you can't touch anything because things get on my nails. I have been getting my nails done by Chao for a few years, I even followed him to VA and back to this location. I stopped going here after making an appointment with his mom, Christine, while he was out. When I arrived, she told me that she couldn't do my nails. I simply asked why she didn't call me in advance to cancel and she started getting frantic and YELLED at me. She then said she would pay for my parking the next day when I came back for Chao. Chao apologized on her behalf, but I decided I wouldn't come back after he did my nails. I eventually found a new place that is pretty far from me and is not always convenient to get to. So today, I bit the bullet and called to make an appointment with Chao. When I called a man answered and I asked if Chao was in. He responded with "what time do you want to come in?" I said the time and to clarify, I said this is for Chao. He said yes, see you at 4:30. That was a red flag that I should have paid attention to. So I drive there and pay for parking. I go inside and ask for Chao... and was told he was wasn't there! I know the man heard me ask for him on the phone, so not sure why he told me to come in. Christine then said anyone can do for you, but then she started speaking to the other worker and said I should come tomorrow. I walked out and went to Luna nails. Couldn't get a much needed mani/pedi in LA before coming to DC for vacation. Found this place on yelp with great reviews so was eager to go. It's in the Capitol Hill area so took a metro and stopped at eastern market. Took me a few minutes to find because its a second floor shop with the entrance between the Starbucks and the cleaners. Clean and simple place. Very friendly service. Not busy on a wednesday morning. Mani/Pedi is $42 and they have a 10% discount during August. You can add the chair massage for another $10. Perhaps I'm spoiled with LA mani/pedis, but I found this place average and alittle pricey. Yes, they give a drink (mimosa/wine/soda/water) and wasabi snacks pack which is nice. I first visited this salon because it was close to my job near Capitol Hill and now it's my go to spot for fill-ins, pedicures, and waxing. The staff here is very accommodating and has taken me for service shortly before closing although it kept them at least thirty minutes after their closing time they never seemed bothered and chatted with me like old friends. They even serve bottled water, soda, wine or mimosas with a snack. Whatever nail polish or technique they use, but I don't ever get chipped nails including pedicures. Often I go to salons and my nail polish strips/chips within days...ugh!!! However, not when I go to Nails Spa ;-) Another thing that I really liked is that the staff really does make an effort to speak English to each other, so clients don't feel as if they're being talked about. Christine is my favorite...she is so funny! She also knows how to provide all services well. Christine even did my Brazilian wax. Now, I would be lying if I said it didn't hurt but what I can say is that Christine made the process fast and as comfortable as possible. This was only my second procedure (yes, I felt as if it was surgery). I would recommend this salon to anyone in the Washington, DC area. I came here for the first time this week, after my usual spot was too crowded. I am extremely pleased with the results! Everyone was very friendly, offered me drinks including wine, and I didn't feel rushed as I have felt at some places. I wish I knew the name of the lady who did my gel fill, because she did a great job! My nails look extremely natural, and even better than before I came here! The only downside was it was all a tad expensive -$81 for a pedicure and gel fill manicure with a cut down (they also scrubbed the dead skin off during my pedicure so that was probably an added expense). But the results left me happy so I can't complain. I'd say it's highly likely that I'd come back, and it may even become my new spot! read more

This salon is in decline. I had been a loyal customer for years until this weekend. I finally had it. I went every two weeks and typically had at least an ok experience the last few times, but not great like years ago. The place has been going down hill lately and it seems to just be based in pure greed and a disregard for decent customer service. I waited patiently for about 15 minutes for a mani pedi... I soak... I wait ... I drink champagne and wait for the next available tech... that's ok so far. I'm not impatient and it is first-come, first-served. Several other clients came in after me, one sees the line and decides that she would prefer to leave and come back after running some errands. The manager (Christine) chases her halfway down the stairs and begs her to stay. The woman running errands and I wait another 15-20 minutes and chat while seated side by side. She is a pleasant woman, but a bit perturbed that the promised 15-minute wait had now doubled for me and looks like it will be longer than promised for her. She made it clear she would just come back later. Finally my turn comes, but the next nail tech is directed to the woman who wanted to run errands that came in 15 minutes AFTER me. That's right... 3 people were skipped in line. The woman running errands kindly insists that I go first several times and says that I had been waiting longer. The nail tech continues to service the other woman as Christine sits directly across from us without intervening, explaining or apologizing at all. Her thought seemed to be that if you're soaking you must be staying no matter how poorly you're treated. It was a complete attitude of disregard. I LEFT. If you can literally run after 1 client halfway out the door, you can open your mouth to apologize or at least attempt to rectify a situation with a regular client. I walked 2 blocks south to A-list nails and had a wonderful experience. My favorite former nail tech now works there and he does amazing work, the massage chairs are newer, the wine is served in real glasses and the people working there are polite, don't rush and respect the customers. The quality of Bruce's work has always been absolutely impeccable. You can get a month out of his gel manicures and the shine is noteworthy. I had asked about him several times, but never knew what happened to him. I'm glad to have found him again and will be going back to A-list nails and avoiding this declining salon. read more

But yesterday I went in a land my tech was so awesome I just had to know who she was--her name is Cakes! She was professional, patient, and did a wonderful job on my mani/pedi. I was a long time customer for 3+ years I've had my favorite technicians and NONE are no longer with the company. The owner is very money hungry and lacks customer service so does her brother who recently started working there. I have never encountered altercations with them but I have witness the treatment amongst African American clients versus other races. I'm sure they couldn't relate because she doesn't treat them that way. I had an incident about 3 weeks ago where I was being serviced by a new technician and to say the least her work was rushed and terrible I tried to stop her a few times because this wasn't what I was use to. She pretended to not know what I was saying so I told the owner and her daughter that I needed a new technician and my feet to be done correctly I WAS NOT SATISFIED and I was going on vacation tomorrow. They told me they would fix it an hour later I was still waiting, trying to not miss money.I told them this was unacceptable and I will never return here I'm emotionally disturbed at this point. I started to put on my things and they called the cops when they arrived the owner try to persuade the police I tried to leave without paying failing to present their faults. He immediately looked at me after seeing my calm yet emotionally demeanor he knew that wasn't the case he cut him off and allowed me to talk. I've never been discriminated that way or disrespected that way I didn't know how that feel. They police officer told them to fix it and the owner's brother proceeded to say in these exact words" You don't have to come back ever" after the police left it was embarrassing my daughter was with me even though not aware because she was four. I don't recommend people to patronize these people. The techs are constantly leaving and the owner lies and say they moved away but I stay in contact with them. It's unfortunate because of the amenities but it's not enough with the poor customer service and lack of empathy/compassion. read more

The salon is positioned adjacent to the Eastern Market metro in a building up a few flights of stairs. The nail tech greeted me and assigned me to a chair offering me wine and assorted peanuts. I was extremely pleased with the pedicure, but became a little aggravated when she continued to cut deeply into my cuticles causing me to bleed a few times and sloppily paint my nails then request that I slide them in the UV light without first "cleaning" them up. Here comes the real shocker, she charged me 61 dollars for a gel mani and regular pedi. Sooooo, what happened to it being cheaper than the other salons in DC? I could have gone to my "splurge" salon downtown and gotten something of better quality for the same price. I came here thinking that the price point was lower based on the reviews I read citing these wonderful discounts. Well, we'll see how long this lasts. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Christine (a mani, pedi) for my best friends birthday (she rarely gets her nails done). Making an appointment was pointless and she was busy and someone else did my friends mani, pedi. The first issue was it was really hot and when I arrived some guys made jokes about Christina not working there. I dropped my friend off and when I came back she told her her nail tech was EXTREMELY RUDE. Not only did she not know how to do designs she insisted that my friend not get a design on her toe. She clearly didn't want to be there another tech did my friends design and was very pleasant. The young man approach me and another young lady and said he smelt weed and I insisted it wasn't me and maybe it was him (RACIAL PROFILING). Finally I wasn't told you had to tip in cash only as my nail salon you can on your card. So didn't the rude nail tech and based upon her ruining my friends experience I was glad I didn't. The atmosphere here is far from relaxing, as it's a large salon that's always very busy. I would be willing to overlook that drawback if I could consistently receive a quality pedicure. However, that's not the case. The pedicure from my first visit lasted almost a month. So, I willingly returned. Unfortunately, it's been less than 24 hours and I'm already wishing I could replace the polish. Both of my big toes are smudged and most of my little toes are insufficiently polished. The single worst manicure of my life. Guy was rude. Rushed through and left the shape of the nails uneven with sharp edges and bits hanging off. Made me bleed, then, kept trying to ignore it and work through it, making a huge mess. She actually remembered all my preferences and just a pleasure to chat with. Her massages are firm (lower legs/feet) BUT I love firm. I'm sure if you don't desire that, she will adapt and REMEMBER for the next time. The place is clean, they give you water and a snack, etc. The chairs are most awesome! I generally do not use the massage function but I have to say their chairs a) work and b) work well! Price points are extremely reasonable... I hope they can continue with their price points and not over charge like so many other places in D.C. Frankly, when the prices are reasonable, I enjoy tipping generously because they're gouging me with ridiculous prices just because they feel they can get it out of D.C. residents. Ahhh! This place is as fantastic as everyone here leads you to believe. The customer service is spot-on. The staff is fantastic, friendly, funny, and professional. They don't rush through their services and are really receptive to your response. Pedicures are $28 -- which is more than reasonable considering the time and energy that they put into it. Some places offer varying levels of pedicures... but this place has the one, all-inclusive service. My nails look perfect and my feet feel great. The spa chairs are super comfortable and still new. With seven chairs, make sure to bring a friend along! They offer free drinks - wine, champagne, juice, water - provide snacks The color selection is pretty comprehensive, though not particularly stocked with yellows and greens (but that's pretty standard). I think I have found a new nail spot. I have visited the Nail Spa three time and each time has been wonderful. The spa itself is bright, spacious and most importantly clean. I love the pedicure bowls;they light up and are very pretty. I know, I'ma big kid enticed by shiny things,lol.Each time I went, the technicians have been very through and the fill/pedicure has lasted WAY longer than when I got to my regular place and they are cheaper.Christine the owner is very nice and asks customers if they are happy with their service. I would also like to add that they sterilize their instruments as you will see them opening up a new packet with each pedicure. A word of caution though, if you go in on the weekend, be prepared to wait. I went to get a pedicure on Saturday and I waited in the bowl for about 20min. I wasn't in a hurry so it is fine, but I can see this being a problem if you have other things to do. I can't speak highly enough about this place. I live across town and still make the trek. I tried NUMEROUS nail salons closer to home (U St/AdMO/CH). None compared. I was in a BAD state of repair. "The Boss" worked magic with my feet (on the condition that I don't inflict that pain upon him again). It actually looked like the previous person cut my cuticles and nails with their teeth. The Nail Spa is ONLY nail salon in town that doesn't give a disappointingly utilitarian pedicure- real attention to your cuticles and callouses, and a great massage. I get a pink acrylic overlay on my nails for a natural look. My fingers were the kind of mess that give you pause when making plans that involve holding a glass or utensils in mixed company. They soaked off the mess (didn't just rip them off); and Christine replaced them with a gorgeous new set. She has been perfect every time I've been to her. Literally, THE BEST pedicure I have ever had! Everything about it was wonderful. It started with, as other reviewers have said, wine and snacks and just got better from there. The nail tech took his time on each aspect of the service. When it was all said and done, my feet were as smooth as a baby's bottom and perfectly polished. I'm officially their newest regular. I've been in search of DC's greatest nail salon for several years now. The search is over! The Nails Spa is less than a year old and still offering "Grand Opening" specials so prices may increase but a gel mani and a pedi cost $60.00 and Celine was finished in about an hour, 45 minutes. The salon itself, is clean, smells fresh and has great music. They provide bottled water, snacks, wine, mimosas, and champagne too! It's the little things that really are the icing on the cake! Everyone was super friendly and you didn't overhear a lot of side conversations in a language you don't understand that may or may not be about your unattractive feet. :) 1 gripe - I really would love to find a nail salon that allows customers the option to add in tip on the credit card. First off, this place is a huge fire hazard. There is absolutely no room to walk through safely or exit if there was an emergency. Secondly, this was my first visit and I didn't appreciate them giving my chair to a white woman that came in after me and decided to forgo picking a color so she could sit in the chair and have someone else go search for the color she wanted. Wow, is that how it's done now? The woman who worked on me was polite, but nosy as hell. She had to turn and look at every thing that jumped off in the salon. My polish ended up being too thick for my liking and not worth the $32 charge. I will definitely not return. I'd rather be insulted up in NW. read more

I always wonder what's wrong with that one odd person not giving a great review when the other 99 people are saying a place is amazing. Welp, today I'm that one. The positive was that I needed a pedicure on a Sunday and later in the day. Their hours and availability were very convenient. That's pretty much where my excitement ends. I felt like I was in a nail factory. Every chair was full and cranking out customers like widgets. Now if you like speed then this is your place. I, however; like a more intimate setting and/or a spa like feeling. I don't want to be crammed next to 25 other people. The young lady who gave me my pedicure was inaudible throughout the process. Instead of just asking me to remove or position my feet, she'd just hit my ankle ever-NOT-so-softly. It's not at like I was able to relax and I aware of the process - a simple tap or the use of words would've been nice. The massage made me feel like I had misbehaved and it was my punishment. This place is a factory, so if you like to connect with your service specialist this ain't the place. More expensive than Eastern Market Nails but also less clean and friendly. I sat and watched as the marbles used for the manicure water, were simply rinsed with water and reused. No. Nope. NOAP. Also, I'm salty because - I was not offered a delicious beverage like the people around me. I didn't realize that I could have a glass of wine or water until I was leaving. RUDE!! It pleases me so much to say that I've finally found my go-to nail salon! I will never go anywhere else again, as long as I live in DC. For starters, this salon is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Eastern Market Metro, so even though I don't live there, it's pretty convenient to get to from just about anywhere in DC. In fact, I'd rather take the metro ride to get to this salon than just walk a few blocks from my house to go to a closer nail salon. Completely worth any kind of travel you have to do. Yesterday I walked in (no appointment needed) for a pedicure and was greeted so warmly. My jacket and my purse were taken and hung. Wine was offered. Snacks were already portioned out in a little personal container just waiting for me at my massage chair. It was pretty busy, but they still had enough room to squeeze me in and enough staff to take care of everything happening. I picked my color and melted into one of the best massage chairs I've experienced at a nail salon. My technician, Celine, was lovely. She was thorough and she was gentle and careful and everything you'd ever want in a pedicurist. After my nails were painted, I then realized I hadn't even checked to see how much a pedicure was. I was a little scared that after all of this amazing treatment that I was then going to be faced with a $50 check. To my relief (and surprise) this lovely experience only came to $28! And that's 3 dollars cheaper than the terrible salon near my house! I'll be back here soon, and I'm bringing friends!
