Consistently good. I used to frequent Cornwall's when I lived on Beacon Street and the BF lived a couple of doors down (literally). We went there enough to get friendly with the owners and the bar staff. I don't go there as often anymore but it's my go to bar before Red Sox games. It's great for a little dinner and a pre-game beer. Service is good and generally with a smile unless they are getting slammed. When the bar is slammed you may not get a lot of interaction with the staff since they are moving fast to service everyone as quickly as possible. I do appreciate the hustle. read more

Not too great. We each had a burger. They were all bun and overcooked. Service was infrequent slow and unfriendly. The waitress actually walked away while I was speaking to her. Cornwall's is an excellent place to have a small party. They have a back room with music, a pool table, games, and chairs/tables. They're large apps for big groups along with pitches of beer and cider. The service is always great and the whole place is family run. Highly recommend. read more

A place where everybody knows your name (which they should since they see me more than their own families). I enjoy drinking beer and playing pool and Cornwalls always provides plenty of both, except Sundays, when they are closed (unless the Red Sox are playing, in which case they have limited hours depending on the time of the game). The crowd they draw is usually pretty mellow and the staff and owners do a great job seeing to it that things run smoothly. The three $1coin pool tables play well for 'bar tables'. read more

Cornwall's is a divey bar located in the Kenmore area. They have a decent draft beer selection and the prices are reasonable, but the place feels a little sticky overall and the crowd is mostly BU undergrads during the school year. Not really my cup of tea, but I can see how this place can appeal to some. read more

Fun place, hardly ever packed. They've got a jukebox, pool tables, and board games. Also a massive beer list, and the mixed drinks come in a pint glass! I prefer this place over any "hip" bar in town. read more

Not sure what bar that last couple reviewers were at, but I mostly go to this bar because the employees *are* so cool about everything. I think since the very first time I went there, they memorized my favorite drink... And watching when other people arrive, I'm definitely not alone. Their drinks are normally poured by the time they walk in the door and saddle up on a stool. This is how I imagine the real Cheers. This is a cool place to come hang out, grab a beer, shoot some pool if you can snag a table and remorselessly throw down some reasonably priced shots of Patron. It goes for an English Pub feel and hits the mark brilliantly. However, the place could be a bit cleaner, I think. Its a nice little bar thats an OK go to when all the fenway area bars packed. The food isnt good. I got their nachos which is a bag a tostitos, melted american cheese, with some chopped tomatoes, jalapenos, and some other stuff. I pulled off a chip an almost all the toppings came with it, which unveiled layers of plain crushed chips with nothing on them. I also tasted the dumplings and I could get past the first one. If you're looking for a British pub atmosphere smack dab in the middle of baseball country USA, look no further than Cornwall's. It's truly feels like being in England, they almost even manage that unique English pub smell of stale beer and cleaner (that's a good thing, Cornwall's- trust me). The beer menu is great and not too expensive, I usually stick with the Black and Tan. The bartenders are attentive. They get a decent sized afterwork crowd, but you can always find a seat or two. I also love this place because you can drink alone without feeling weird about it, but the patrons are also nice so it's easy to strike up conversation. Not bad for Kenmore Square and this place seems to have escaped the tendrils of (many of) the local students and the obnoxious "red sox nation" a@*holes. Great burgers, particularly mediocre appetizers, but a really interesting crowd, excellent cold beer, good help and an overall positive feel and experience. You probably will want to pass on the outdoor arrangement. read more

Got talked into going to lunch there by a friend who works in the area. Violated one of life's basic tenets: Never order food at a Faux British Restaurant. In self defense, I tried to go the simple route: meatloaf and mashed. It was on the menu, but not in the kitchen. So I upped the ante to the more complicated Shepherd's Pie. After all, the place stylizes itself as a "British pub". They delivered a large steaming bowl to my table. Gravy from the can, Wonder Bread wannabe on the side. About two pounds of suspiciously smooth mashed potatoes. Two table spoons of carrots/corn. One tablespoon of mystery meat. Did I mention the canned gravy? Awful. Excellent service and relaxed atmosphere. We got the buffalo chicken tenders--lightly battered and flavorful. We also ordered the beer battered French fries. Cornwall's is an English pub on the side of Kenmore Square which very few people have any business being on (the non-Fenway side). Cornwall's doesn't really give people a reason to cross the street. My friend and I ordered some nachos and a chicken sandwich. Sandwich had stale bread, dry chicken, soggy bacon, and unseasoned fries. Nachos were slathered with cheap cheese and soaked by the time they put them in front of us. We boxed the stuff up, but ended up leaving the stuff behind anyways. read more

This is a cool low-key spot to down a couple beers with pals. They have a couple arcade games and two pool tables. A game of pool costs $1 in quarters. I went with a group before the Red Sox game against the Marlins, and the bar was full, but definitely not uncomfortably crowded. At first I thought they wouldn't card, but they tracked down those of us who bought pitchers and required identification from everyone in our group. I still haven't been to many bars in general, so I don't have much to compare to, but Cornwall's seems like a fun place to have a casual hangout with friends, watch sports games, or grab a bite to eat/drink before a baseball game. I see some negative comments about the service but I have never had a bad experience here. For a genuine pub experience in the area, this place and O'Leary's by St Mary's are the to-go places. read more
