What a fun/funky restaurant. The food is pasty, a sort of hand held savory pie. So many option to choose from. I was with a group of nine. We were seated right away upstairs. The lighting is dark, and service was average at best. Most seating is family style. It has more of a beer, whiskey, rock and roll kind of vibe to it, which I love. There is a great beer selection, and they had one of my favorite hefeweizen's on tap. The food is filling and the portions are big. Everyone loved their food, but I didn't think mine was very good. Might have been my error as I ordered the carne adovada, which I though was very plain, while others ordered the chicken pot pie, or Sheppard's pie, and loved it. The Good: great food, it's a unique "meat pastry" with an European origin. Stands well with all the others (Italian, French, Spanish, etc). I had the Guinness pasty and I'm very happy. You cannot substitute what makes up each pasty, you can choose your sauce. Wide selection and very well made. Pasty was excellent. Restaurant was clean and pub like. So a darker vibe, large bar and is adult focused, which I appreciate. Service was fast, only one woman handling the entire floor, but she did a great job. Oh and the beer! Great price for 20oz drafts $7!!! Cannot recommend this place more, will become a new staple. This is the superior Cornish Pasty location. Well lit. Not ridiculously crowded. Easy parking. Pool and darts always open. Clean. Even the bathrooms. EXCELLENT SERVICE. LIKE. REALLY REALLY EXCELLENT. This was my first visit to a Cornish Pasty company. I dined at the North Phoenix location. I like that they have a number of vegan options and mark their menu clearly. I had the vegan hatch chili burger pasty, which has vegan cheese, potatoes, onions, and the impossible burger. A side of salsa comes with the pasty. The price is $16. The pasty was filling and flavorful. Some things I see that would elevate the restaurant are better lighting and a "cleaner" look. It is very dark, no TVs, and just an overall bland atmosphere. Second thing I recommend is not let employees openly be on their cellphone. While it was not busy it is just not something guests want to see as you feel like you are burdening the staff and they are just not paying attention. Lastly the prices are just too high for what you get. If you don't plan to lower prices at least offer some lunch combo or specials and/or happy hour specials daily. read more

My compant ordered for pick up and I thought that maybe by the time I got mine it would be soggy or not warm, but it was honestly perfect. The pastry was nice and crunchy still and the filling was delicious. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was a good amount of chicken to veggie ratio, the sauce was also very good. We ate an early dinner at Cornish Pasty in Scottsdale on 3/30, this was our first visit. The atmosphere was different but comfortable. The staff was pleasant however very casual. No recommendations on food unless we asked. The Scotch Egg appetizer was excellent. The Pesto Chicken Pasty was hot and tasty. The Reuben Pasty didn't have a lot of flavors and had very little sauerkraut. Both items could have used more flavor. The server was attentive at the beginning and then as we finished didn't see him much anymore. If in the Scottsdale area might give them a second chance. Loved the outdoor patio seating. read more

Wow, one of my favorite restaurants has opened up in North Phoenix across the street from PVCC on the NE corner. While the have a ton of pasty options (dough rapped around a savory filling original commonly eaten by Cornish miners), I had to select the go-to Lamb Vindaloo pasty which was outstanding, I was not disappointed. This is also the place to get a scotch egg, which is a work of art. There were quite a few beers on tap. While I did not have it on this visit, okay it is still almost 80 in PHX in November, a great and unexpected treat is the Mushroom Walnut soup, yes it sounds crazy but it is quite earthy and comforting. We stopped in on a rare rainy Saturday afternoon for an amazing lunch. The options are plentiful but we settled on the Pilgrim and the Chicken Tikka pasty's. Both were absolutely delicious and the portions were huge so we had leftovers. The service was fantastic and the selection of beverages is big enough to make everyone happy. A few weeks back I went into this new (to me) location to check it out. I loved the feel of the restaurant, it felt comfortable and a little bit old fashioned. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing! I had the Cottage Pie Pasty and it was so good (the gravy really added to it)! My husband got the Cajun Chicken Pasty and he enjoyed it. As a side note, I grew up in England and love English food.
