My boyfriend and I went to Rosconi's for Valentine's Day and had a really nice experience. They had a fixed menu for the holiday and everything was delicious. The ahi tuna was so good, probably my favorite dish of the night. The rack of lamb was cooked really well, and the short rib was good too, just needed a more salt or something in my opinion. Still enjoyed it though. The cheesecake was divine. Panna cotta was yummy. Definitely the perfect way to end the meal. Our server was polite and let me try a couple wines before choosing, which I appreciated. We made a reservation and got seated quickly, even with it being Valentine's Day. Ambiance was dark and moody. We were the last ones out the restaurant, never felt rushed. Atmosphere was great for a date night. Bathrooms were clean, but the floor felt a little slippery. I've been to Rusconi's several times for dinner, and never loved it at best while they really annoyed me at worst. My opinion (or yours) doesn't matter to them I think, though. They're clearly pretty happy with themselves how they do things now. The decor is depressingly stuck in the '90's, which because of how small it is and how it's laid out could easily be fixed by updating just the barstools and artwork. Not gonna happen. The food is usually excellent, and they have a very good wine list. Prices are in line with a nice restaurant in this part of town. Just hope everything's to your liking because they have no interest in fixing it. Servers have been there forever, which can be helpful and entertaining...aaand inattentive if they don't already know you because they'd rather be talking it up with the regulars at the bar. I've been there when the service was on point and had a nice evening. I've also been there when they were too busy chatting with people they'd rather talk to to bring me what I ordered, then gave me attitude and a lecture when I asked it to be taken off the bill. The folks at Rusconi's obviously love what they do and how they do it. They seem interested in coming up with new dishes or specials to keep things fresh, and they execute them well. My friend and I have been here a few times. Each time I've given a 5 Star review on food and service. Unfortunately, this time around was a real miss for us. I made 6:30 Friday dinner reservation for 2 and requested a table near the front which was honored. Thank you!. Austin our server introduced himself, very friendly. The restaurant was full with customers seated at the bar, patio and main dining areas. We ordered Martini's and Cosmos, while we deciding on what to order. The cocktails took a while to to be delivered by Austin. He was very nice and apologetic, but honestly he was spread way to thin... basically taking care of the whole front area plus the patio area. When he came to take our order, he gave us the rundown of the specials. Mussels were included which I've had before so I jumped on that. My friend and I shared the Pork Chili Verde appetizer and an order of French Fries and he ordered the Cocoa Rubbed Breast of Duck. Pork Chili Verde appetizer came looked good, as we dug in, the Crispy Grit fries were soggy sitting in a pool of sauce, hardly any pork, just a few pieces of ground pork, a bit bland. My mussels came, again looked good but the mussels were so overcooked the meat shrunk to the size of a small almond and was dried up along with quit a few empty shells. It was so disappointing, as I have had them before and they were delicious as you can see my past photos. My friend duck was good but to him seemed small in size, as he too has had the duck in the past. While eating our entrees, we ordered another round of cocktail which again took a very long time, finally delivered but olives were missing. Honestly our server was doing the best he could do but he was given too many tables to manage. Between the food and service, we felt indifferent about the evening. LOL though on a positive note, the table next to us ordered the Harris Ranch "Kitchen" Burger and it LOOKED Fantastic. I had the salmon, and it was absolutely fantastic--perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. So I am visiting in Phoenix and my sister and her family decide that we're going to go to this restaurant for dinner. For a party of 3 We had no reservation but they did give us a nice table in the back. I wasn't really hungry so I ordered the oyster mushrooms and they were absolutely delicious !! I was ready to get a a second order when I saw the butternut squash soup. My family got ribs with dates and a pork dish. For dessert, we both got butterscotch caramel jar pudding, which was really nice although I couldn't finish it . The chef who I believe is the owner as we were leaving, came up to see how dinner was . On the menu they pair wines with your meal, which I think is really fabulous. I completely recommend this restaurant. Our server was Austin, who was prompt, polite, and always available. It was a pleasure having him as our server . Years ago, while dining at a restaurant in Tempe, someone seated next to us recommended Rusconi's in Paradise Valley. I wish I had taken their advice sooner! This sophisticated yet casual restaurant is a gem hidden in a strip mall. They offer elegant meals at affordable prices. We were originally seated right in front of the kitchen, which turned out to be a bit loud for conversation. We asked to be moved and were accommodated without issue. Now if you're curious about the kitchen action, that front-row seat would be perfect for watching the team at work. When I see a rack of lamb or lamb chops on the menu, Rusconi's delivered the two perfect chops med roasted lamb last Saturday night! Their dish offers lamb done two ways ($36).Braised shoulder and roasted chops. I thought the sauce Verde was a bit too intense for my taste but the pearl onions, wild carrots and polenta upgraded the plate. My husband ordered blackberry glazed salmon from their classic section of the menu ($34) and was satisfied. Our server, Austin provided professional service. He must be a pro because he replied to each of my questions without any hesitation. I was having a tough time deciding on dessert and he told us that the creme brulee and chocolate bread pudding were his faves. We went with his recommendation and added vanilla ice cream to the bread pudding. Austin didn't steer me wrong with the creme brulee! Creamy with the lightly caramelized sugar on top made a sweet ending! General Manager Heather took time to stop at our table during dinner and ask if we were liking everything. On our way out, by the door she also made short, pleasant conversation! It was not the rushed "come again" farewell bid that I have received at other restaurants. I appreciate the authentic care she expressed. TIP: I would make reservations because this place was busy from before we stepped foot in the place at 5:15 and was in full swim at 6:45 when we left. One of our favorite spots for dinner! We go to Rusconi's regularly and we've tried most of their dishes. We've never had a bad meal here and the service is exceptional. It has a warm and quiet feel to it despite the large space that opens up in the back and the kitchen opens up to the dining room so you feel the energy coming out of the kitchen and into the dining room. We highly recommend the scallops, tenderloin medallions and lamb. All top notch main courses. Their salads are awesome and for starters you should try the kitchen board, octopus or truffle Mac n cheese. All terrific. It's been awhile since we visited this wonderful establishment and they were just as wonderful yesterday as it had been the year before this time it was even more special. I have a very dear friend who is suffering from Parkinson's and Lewy Body dementia, very nasty disease hard to get into restaurants where they understand, but not only was Curtis amazing as as our waiter and but the other staff, including owners, were kind and understanding they took time to care for her and make sure she felt like a whole human being again she loved her time there and we will be back ,once again. Rusconi's is one of our favorites in Phoenix. The chef has a real talent for re-imagining classic dishes, and the specials are consistently worth ordering. On our most recent visit, I had the Swordfish from the specials menu while my wife chose the beef tenderloin medallions from the regular menu. Both were excellent -- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The service matched the food. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and took the time to walk us through the menu in detail without ever feeling rushed. Although Rusconi's is tucked away in a strip mall, the interior opens into a warm and inviting space -- cozy but not cramped, quiet but not lifeless. We came for our anniversary dinner, and they delivered exactly the kind of experience we hoped for: excellent food, thoughtful service, and an atmosphere that made the night feel special. A business associate took me here while we were attending a lender's conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. He had read Rusconi's American Kitchen was highly recommended. He was not stared incorrectly. The ambience, is what I would describe as casual upscale. The reason why is the ambience was quiet, it had a full service bar, and the dining area was spacious. Because we were discussing business, I did not have an opportunity to take photos of our entrées. The small dishes that we ordered were absolutely delicious, and were presented very elegantly. I hope that others who have dined here post photos of their entrées. Our server, Andy, was very attentive. He explained some of the dishes on the menu and he provided us with their specials of the night One would think that this restaurant would be mediocre because of his location in a retail shopping center, but it is not mediocre. It is very classy. I would recommend that if you are visiting Scottsdale and or Phoenix, Arizona that you purposely visit this restaurant for dinner. read more

Came here for my birthday after my daughter wanted to treat me. The food? Let's just say I'm still thinking about it. I ordered the berry-glazed salmon salad, and it did NOT come to play. Piled high with veggies green beans, fingerling potatoes, grape tomatoes, and a bunch of other delicious things I didn't bother to identify because I was too busy inhaling it. My husband went for the goat cheese burger stacked with caramelized onions, a thick tomato slice, pork belly, and arugula. He didn't talk to me for five minutes, which is the universal sign of a great burger. We also tried the crème brulée French toast and wild blueberry pancakes. I had never been to this restaurant before, and my buddy had suggested we try it because he used to frequent the place when he lived closer. The three of us had an absolutely wonderful meal. We had a bottle of Sonoma Coutrer Chardonnay, which is always good. I had this great burger without a bun which had goat cheese on it and some absolutely delicious truffle fries. My friend had the scallops and his son had the chicken. For some sides we also had this pea risotto and goat cheese grits. This was truly an amazing and delectable meal. My wife and I were there last Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first time and we found out about this restaurant through check please Arizona OK I can't begin to tell you all the things that were spectacular but I will tell you the ambience is wonderful. The wait staff specifically calling out Curtis was spectacular the presentation of the appetizer the entrées and our dessert dish were amazing. My wife even said leaving the restaurant that she's good for another year providing we come back a few more times, so thank you very much for a lovely Saturday night dinner and a wonderful experience. Went here for restaurant week and had some good dishes and some mediocre dishes. The short rib and dates were really good, and the buratta dish was also pretty tasty. However the pea risotto was pretty bland, though the presentation was pretty. The basque cheesecake was also a bit meh. I haven't met one a basque cheesecake I've loved yet and this was not the exception. It wasn't bad it just wasn't very creamy or flavorful. I'm also someone who likes graham cracker crust though which this type doesn't have. Service was great though! read more

Took some friends there as a thank you at their suggestion and it happened to be Fathers day (we are all grand parents and did not think about that). Half ordered off the Fathers day menu and the other half off the regular menu. We had a very pleasant evening at Rusconi's. The surroundings are nice and the staff is very warm, friendly and efficient, the food well prepared. We went on a Sunday evening and it was a pleasant surprise that wine was half price. Between the 8 of us we tried several of the salads and the leek and potato soup to start, all were enjoyable. Our entrees ran the gamut from burgers, to salmon to beef tenderloin and again, all were nice. We enjoyed wine and a couple of cocktails, the myer lemon martini special and the gin and tonic, no complaints ! Our waiter was very good, a real asset to the business (bald guy from NY) and the manager was also very nice, she came to the table a couple of times to make sure we were happy. We came here for our anniversary (16 years). We were treated very well by the staff. Very surprised to see an anniversary card waiting for us at our table. It was signed by the staff and the owner/Chef Michael and his wife. Started with a Watermelon and lemon cello martini and a chocolate martini. We usually don't drink alcohol but it was a special occasion. Chef Michael came over to introduce himself and presented us with a sample of his watermelon salad. Other starters were the Tomato gaspatcio (which was awesome) with blue crab and Beet salad with whipped ricotta. I had the Short ribs with baby carrots and broccolini. The meat melted off the bone. Hubby had the Salmon with Brussel sprouts and tiny potatoes Desert was the Dark chocolate bread pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream. Yummy! Appreciated that the leftovers were packaged in containers not plastic! Have to say that this was one of the most memorable of anniversary dinners. Came for Arizona restaurant week and their 3 course meal. We came early on Friday before the place filled and most certainly it was popular and looks like there are some regulars based on the great service and smiles from the waiter as the places filled up. When we were seated we asked to be moved from a really dark table. We were told the adjacent table wasn't available as it was going to be combined to a table of six, so we got our dark table. Later another couple came maybe an hour later, never saw them combine the tables, maybe it was just us they didn't like us non regulars .... Seemed to carry over thru the dinner. I can say our waiter was totally ambivalent to us as well never really smiled and was so could care less attitude. The food was presented as well as tasty four stars. The amblivant waiter and perception of biased treatment made for a disappointing experience. read more

It was pleasant, but not next level We started out with the short rib and goat cheese stuffed medjool dates. These were so bland. Not one flavour stood out. The bacon didn't even pop out. Roasted beets with citrus, frisée and Amish blue cheese was good. Loved the citrus taste that snuck in and pleasantly surprised. The roasted chicken, Parmesan and yellow grits with charred broccolini. The chicken was moist and not dried out. This was a bonus. What was yummy about this dish were the yellow grits with Parmesan. I would have eaten more of this. The broccolini detracted from the plate as the charring just created a burnt tasting vegetable. Pork shank with fingerling potatoes and carrots was a hit. I am a vegetarian, so that you know. The is just one main dish that is vegetarian, and it was the English pea rizzotto. So creamy and savory with the carrots and green beans with a buttery saltiness and the earthiness of fennel. That dish in itself is worth the visit. Next time, I would pair a salad with a bit more citrus in it as I had a special heirloom tomato ricotta, which was nice and light and earthy. The broccolini had a palette cleansing effect, so very nice after the rizzotto. The Madagascar vanilla ice cream was so different it made me wonder if all vanilla ice cream is supposed to be that way. Overall, I could not rate this place better for the above dishes and service our our waiter Curtis. I can see why it was #1 on TripAdvisor. read more

My friends and I had the extreme pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant. What an amazing culinary experience! We were warmly greeted by Chef and Owner, Michael Rusconi. Next, our waiter, Fritz, delivered great service, along with a friendly, fun and humorous demeanor. My husband and I ordered the beef medallions over potato puree with glazed carrots and green beans. The medallions were a perfect medium rare, tender, succulent expertly prepared....Just outstanding and delicious! Did I say delicious? I mean ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The potato puree was smooth, creamy, buttery and a perfect bed for the star of the dish. To top that off, the green beans and glazed carrots were tender and the carrots added a hint of sweetness to complement the savory. The ambience is cute, that's the end. Food is subpar at best, ordered grilled bread with pesto got wet warm bread, soaked in olive oil not grilled at all, gross! Second course pork belly, ok hash was burned to crisp, poo belly was ok, didn't like the corn foam too much. Third course filet medallions with truffle Mac and veggies. The filet was pan fried and somehow burned to a crisp on the outside like charred and raw on the inside, overcooked pasta, under seasoned, basically steamed veg with no seasoning. Total $90 I would have been better off next door at panda! Went home hungry read more

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside, it's terrific! Nice ambience, comfortable, super friendly servers, and excellent food. The menu is varied and the wine list is extensive (and reasonably priced). And Rusconi's is one of the most gluten-free friendly restaurants I've ever visited--I imagine that would extend to other food issues as well. We went here last Friday for my birthday dinner. We've lived close by for many years but had never tried it, and I regret that now because we have been missing out! What a lovely elevated/casual restaurant! We were greeted promptly and told there was about a 30 minute wait, but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated after about 15 mins. Our waiter Austin was prompt and attentive and got everything right! We ordered the chili verde appetizer, the pork tenderloin special, and the scallops and everything was delicious! I forgot to take photos because I was too excited to dig in! At the end of our meal the manager stopped by to make sure everything was enjoyable which was such a nice touch! We will definitely be back for more happy hours and date nights and I'm so sorry we didn't discover this place sooner! read more
