I have generally dined at Cornerstone for breakfast. This day, I decided on having lunch. I decided on half sandwich with side. As it was Friday, the soup was clam Chowder which I'm allergic to. The sandwich half, was extremely fresh & filling. I really like the mayo that was used. The salad was huge, fresh and loaded. Extremely good selection for the day. If your going for atmosphere, this isn't the place for you. The place needs a good paint job and new ceiling tiles. This poor place is run down and tired. That being said, the food is great. The portions are big and our eggs over medium were perfect. My French toast was well made, a bit crispy yet tender. Our bacon were wide strips and meaty. From the outside, it's old and tired. Came in today to try this place, as it was on my way home. I had the mega scramble. Here are my thoughts... The Good: The service was great. The toaster biscuits were very tasty, and were a nice break from english muffins or toast. The coffee was good. PLENTY of food on my plate. Scramble had bacon AND ham. The Bad: The potatoes were sliced, kinda Au Gratin style, which was interesting, but they were slightly overcooked on the outside, and slightly under cooked on the inside. The scramble was decent, but bland. The eggs looked kinda stringy. Not texture wise, just visually, like in egg drop soup or something. Couldn't taste the bacon at all. The Ugly: N/a Overall, not bad, but, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

This is a small place and very home town style. Thought we would try it and we were pleasantly surprised. I had a country style breakfast, two eggs, ham, potatoes and sourdough toast with coffee. The ham was thicker than most places and coffee refills were excellent. My wife had a veggie burrito which she said was very good. The best part is that the breakfast was considerably less than Denny's. Sorry Denny's! Excellent taste at a very good price. Win-Win! I would highly recommend this place for breakfast. Went here today. I ordered a "Beef and chedder" sandwich. I checked the menu carefully checked the description because I don't eat mayo. The ingredients were pretty simple. Beef, cheddar, grilled onions. Perfect. I received the sandwich and could tell it was absolutely covered in mayo. I asked the waitress and she told me "oh no that's just cheese". Against my better judgment I took a bite. I don't know why I believed this woman when I knew damn well what I was looking at but I did. I dont know why people in this industry have so much trouble following simple instructions but I guess that's the reason why a woman in her 40s is still doing the job of a teenager. read more

Cornerstone cafe is the epitome of an old-school neighborhood diner. It's been there since I was a kid, and when I went in for breakfast when I was in the area visiting family, not much has changed about it. I got the corned beef hash and my friend got the chicken fried steak. I was pretty disappointed with the main part of my meal (the hash), because it was the kind of hash that comes from a can. I understand some people like it, but it's just not for me. The potatoes were pretty good- not quite country fried potatoes and not quite hash browns. More like chipped soft potatoes, and when you get a really crunchy edge it's heavenly. Chicken fried steak was mediocre, just that standard overly tenderized diner fare kind of CFS. Gravy was just ok as well. If it wasn't for the potatoes and the affordable pricing, the rating would be lower. read more

Brought a friend here for breakfast. It was so busy and now I know why...the food is absolutely delicious. It is located on San Juan same lot as 99 cent store but the back of it. It is a tan building with a green roof...cannot miss it. When I walked in..I was greeted right away. If there is an open table...you just sit down. They do not seat you. Our coffee order came quickly...but had to wait a bit to order the food. I believe I saw 1 waitress...and 1 person who keeps the coffee coming. I ordered the egg breakfast with a choice of bacon...sausage...or ham. I chose bacon and it comes with home potatoes and choice of bread. Only 7.95 The eggs were cooked perfect...bacon was crispy just like I like...and potatoes delicious. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy...sausage links and eggs.Hw lived his food. First time visitor...the churro waffle was decadent. I almost melted right there at the first bite. I only indented to eat half but couldn't stop. My friend had the patty melt and described it as perfect if you want a traditional patty melt, despite the American cheese. 11-22-2018 This was our Thanksgiving morning breakfast. Place was filled to capacity but no waiting lines. This seemed to be a small mom and pop style eatery which we often enjoy and support. We sat down to a nice conversation and a hot cup of joe. We watched how many of the regulars were giving their thanks to the staff, showing us how many regulars were amongst this morning. NICE ! I ordered the standard pancake breakfast with eggs. Boy, was I stuffed and fulfilled ! Do I have room for pumpkin pie later YES !!!! Came here for breakfast on Thanksgiving with my hubby. I called first to ensure they were open on this holiday morning- lucky for us and the mostly full tables they were open until 2pm! Perfect time, they get to work and then go home for family time and we get to start our thanksgiving day for two at breakfast. We were able to sit ourselves at any clean table. Coffee and menus came so fast and our breakfast choices was narrowed down pretty quick too. I didn't feel like eggs or bacon. I wanted chicken fried steak, one biscuit with gravy, and one pancake. The sweet blond waitress was very accommodating and didn't judge my weird choices. Anthony got a two egg pancake breakfast with two sausage and two bacon slices. Despite being a holiday and being pretty busy the food was amazing! My chicken fried with gravy was so crispy and juicy- pretty perfect. Personally I am pretty pleased that I was able to order everything a la carte and not have to order things I didn't really want. Just for this I am changing my initial 4 stars to 5. read more

This is one of those reviews that I hate writing, ugh! Cornerstone is located what used to be Po Folks, I really miss that place! We walked in on a rainy Sunday morn. Although the place was packed, we lucked out when two patrons left and found us a seat at the counter. As more and more people started trickling in, our friendly server told us that they never get this crowded. Since there's only two chairs to sit on in the wait area, most of the people waited outside. After scanning the menu, we chose the country Benedict and ham and eggs. Both come with their home fries. I admit, the prices are cheap. I think both our dishes were under eight bucks. Our server was attentive, refilling our coffee and water. She told us that they never get that crowded so we figured that was the reason for the LONG wait we had for our food to arrive. Our food was terrible! The hash brown/home fry was like a slop of burnt potato, the inside was similar to a mash potato. The country Bennie had a sausage patty which we both didn't like the taste of. Scrambled eggs were runny in some parts. The ham was also unappetizing. It definitely must have been an off day, just look at how unappealing my pics are! With the unexpected rush of customers, I'm guessing the attention to quality was ignored. We ate less than half our food and agreed it was probably the worst breakfast we've ever had.
