Do not waste your time or money! We live in the area and we started going to Corner Cafe in the early 2000's. The quality of the food started to go downhill and the service wasn't the best. If I could give zero stars, I would. First and foremost, the owner is a BITCH. We just had lunch there. What a train wreck of an experience, which could have been avoided by proper customer service. Didn't like the gyro. (Once owned a Greek restaurant...meat was old and flavorless, tzaiki sauce was bland) so didn't eat it. So what did she do to make it right? Make us pay half. Pay half price for for not eaten. Wow. Just wow. Now, WE OWN A RESTAURANT. I could NEVER imagine charging my customers for food they didn't like/eat, and expect them to come back! When I approached the owner, she did NOT let me talk! She said "I've addressed it." Period. I said, fine, But I still have something to say. Nope. She wanted me OUT. Try to get satisfaction here if something goes wrong here. I got shot down when i said something to the waitress and then ask for the manager. The owner came out and reamed me for saying something about his food. If you cannot cook a pancake (owner), it is a sad day in breakfast service. Isn't the rule; "GOLDEN BROWN AND DELICIOUS"? Pale, doughy and soggy does not make for a good pancake. The place that serves waffles and "scatters" stuff on the flat top is far more deserving of your business. Something another reviewer mentioned made me think; one does notice the times i have tried eating here, the best service DOES go to the regulars. Makes me mad that i did not smoke and drink at 7 in the morning and buddy up to the wait staff when smoking was allowed. Saw another review here about how good breakfast is here and the good ones must go to the regulars too and i get that, after all the smoking and drinking that early "ya really don't taste food so well". One thing i have never understood is the horrible smell of urinal cakes or something 'wafting through the dining area'... So, summing up, the food is just plain lame, the owner is a troll, the waitress must have tremendous hemorrhoid, and it smells, yup, one star - zero would have been better. Dear lord, they are adding on! An outside patio...? That may be a 'wash'. Outside will smell less like a urinal cake but then the smokers will cloud up the area for sure. I have been here several time with my parents. In the past it has been okay for a quick lunch. Today while there for lunch I was really disappointed. The service was not good at all. She seemed in a rush and was constantly picking things from the table the second we finished. My main complaint, though, was the gyro meat. I had it on a salad and my dad had it on a platter (the platter was strange-slabs do meat and lots of onions). The gyro meat was so bland and almost tasted as though it was microwaved from frozen. We mentioned this to our waitress at the end (neither of us had more than a bite of it). She didn't offer much of an apology or any sort of refund. We were taking a drive through Delaware and were looking forward to finding a local spot to grab some decent chow. A friend of ours mentioned that he had a good experience at the Corner Cafe a while back so we decided to stop in and give it a shot. My partner and I both ordered the Corner Cafe Burger Deluxe and were all about it. The menu is extensive with small town diner favorites (burgers, clubs, fish and chips) and an abundance of Greek items! We settled for having dinner here after finding out there was almost a 2 hour wait at Son of Thurmans. We should have opted for the long wait. The food was greasy and took nearly an hour to make it to our table after we ordered. The second star is only b/c the waitress was very nice and apologetic. We love this family owned place! Nothing fancy. Most of the people that come here are regulars like us. You walk in and seat yourself.. A real nice menu too!! The breakfast's are great and the Italian sub is better than any pizza joint anywhere! Best coffee anywhere and they also have full bar service! Went here twice in the last three days, once for dinner, once for breakfast. Sat outside for dinner, which was more pleasant. Service was not unfriendly but somewhat robotic, at least for us. It was a different story for the table behind me at dinner. The server was helpful, friendly, and animated with the folks who sat down just five minutes after we did. So much so that I wished quietly to my wife that we could have had her as our waitress. I was amazed when she told me that it was the same server. We ordered a steak for our children to share. It came out well well done vs med rare. They took it back while it went back I cut up the small baked potato for the two of them. The next steak came out over cooked still they attempted to eat it and it was like rubber. They couldn't get the steak right so ordered them a fish meal and sent the steak back they left the potato on the table along w the dinner roll (apparently just so they can charge us the $13.99). The rest of us were done eating when the fish meal came out. They had to eat so quickly. The check came out and both meals were charged. They gave us a $6 credit. REALLY!! The owner couldn't even come out to the table never apologized for the over cooked food. I went in to talk to her she never apologized and told me the potato and the roll was charged she didn't make anything off of us. The roll and a side should have came w the fish meal and want brought out Why ? Because we had it already and I was fine w that. But an $80 bill and you didn't make anything really ? Having worked in a restaurant I could not Imagine telling someone their standards are to high. I even offered to show her cook how to make a steak. This place is a well-run gem. Best place in Delaware for breakfast -- great pancakes. Their gyros and other Greek fare is very good. They even smoke up a mean rack of ribs! (But get there early, because when they're gone, they're gone.) The atmosphere won't bowl you over -- white walls, white tile floor, and white drop ceiling. There's a bar and a few tables/booths on one side, and a larger area with tables and booths on the other. It's seat yourself whenever we've been there. Whether I've been there with just my wife or with a large group, the service has always been prompt, attentive, and friendly. Great place for basic food at cheap prices. read more

Our default breakfast place. We've not had a bad experience to date. Instead of waiting for 30 min to get seated at a restaurant in Polaris, drive up 15 minutes and get to eating! There are other places in Delaware, but we prefer not having to find street parking. It's very relaxed. Coffee keeps flowing and my hubs massive demand for creamer is always kept satisfied. looks like a truck stop kind of place from the outside - it's not. Good food freshly prepared and very friendly staff and owner. The greek salad with grilled chicken is healthy and good, most say the gyros are great. They have eggplant french fries which were really good. It's great for a breakfast/lunch place for basic good food - it has a lot of greek choices but wouldn't really call it a greek restaurant although there are some posters stuck up of some ruins. read more

TO START OUT I don't think this place even deserves one star!!! I have always loved this restaurant but I haven't been back in a while. A group of friends and myself went in last night hoping to have a good night. I have never been so dissatisfied with a place in my life! Our waitress was amazing but she was also helping every other table in the place while being bartender as well. The owner decided all she was going to do was stand and try to look pretty. Myself, I've had better experiences at McDonald's than this place last night . Seeing how hard our waitress was working and it only being the beginning of her first week, I decided to say something to the Manager... Not only the Manager but the owner!!! The one person who should want their business to be amazing! I am not a complainer at all so to say something to her killed me. I told her that our waitress was very sweet but the food was cold, drinks were poorly made (floating gunk on the top), no sauces came out, and it was very inefficient, I get that our waitress was helping everyone so it wasn't her fault but to address a owner about the situation and her response being an eye roll and thank you then walking away in the middle of our conversation is not a way to do anything! You should be ashamed of yourself! I don't see how anyone could ever work with a self centered "boss" as herself. This place is good on service but the food is horrible. Went back just in case what I got was a bad choice... Nope. Food just as bad as I remember it. I've eaten gyros at several places in Columbus and the one I here was nasty. Happy Greek in Columbus was awesome and fresh. I asked for vinegar for my fries and got some of those packets you get at fast food restaurants... ugh. The decor is early 70's but the people who work there are friendly. First time there. Went there around 1pm for lunch. Sign on front door said "Help Wanted". NO KIDDING. Waited a while to get service, and when waitress came over she wasn't none too friendly. I asked questions about the today's special and she didn't seem to know much about it. I finally ordered a chicken salad sandwich. My lunch partner ordered the today's special, but was notified shortly after he ordered they were out. Born and raised in Delaware, I have seen mannnnnny restaurants come and go, this one's a keeper. Closed on Monday. The Family is Greek Cypriot, and their gyros are better than in Cyprus ( I lived there too, I can vouch). The staff is wonderful, friendly, locals (for the most part). Prices are dirt cheap. It does have a tendency to be packed in the evenings, as it's no town secret. Locals will run into neighbors. This is the most confusing restaurant Ive ever been to. I tried to order the traditional gyro dinner, then the waitress told me it wasn't a gyro. Huh? I ended up getting the actual gyro, apparently, and it was on par with fair food. I'm not sure why their menu says to try their traditional Greek food, which isn't really Greek food. My family recently moved to the area and thought we would try this place. We love going and supporting local businesses. BUT we will NOT be going back to this restaurant. The food was mediocre, but the SERVICE was WORST!!! We waited forever just to get drinks and then the food took even longer. I promised I would never do it again but I did anyway. Took the wife to The Corner Cafe this past Sunday on our way to Tanger Outlets. Waste of money to say the least. We watched other couples come in, choose their table, get waited on and get served before we were served and we arrived 15-20 minutes before them. When we received our bacon eggs and home fries everything was cold and the bacon was way under cooked. We sent the bacon back to the kitchen and did not get it back until we were finished with the other cold under cooked food. Horrible experience and this place used to be really good. read more
