Very nice little family style restaurant! The greeter and our waitress were great. Friendly and helpful. We started off with coffee and water, I also chose an apple cider mimosa that our waitress mentioned. The coffee was great, hot, strong and robust flavor. The mimosa was good, I've never had a mimosa before. I ordered the Skillet Sensation with wheat toast and a side of sausage gravy. A great mix of flavors, seasoned home fries, green pepper, ham, sausage and mushrooms in a bowl.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch . Very casual place and they close early . We had salads which was good . Acouple had the tomato basil soup which they said was really good . They have a patio with hanging plants .

Got super super hungry? Then stop here- great portions! We traveled from Columbus, and our friend asked to meet him at this place. The place definitely had not impressed by its interior or cleanliness. However, I loved the smile of the waitress and that friendly question "honey, where do you want to seat?". From the door, we were friendly greeted and quickly got the table. Please be aware- if you are on the strict diet, this diner is prohibited to you! The portions are enormous lol I have ordered simply Greek omelette and boyfriend got strawberry French toast- yummy! By the way, I couldn't finish my omelette bc it was huge- no complaint, will take home! Although it's a casual place, it has lovely atmosphere. Stop here for the breakfast/ brunch or if you want some home food.

Let's start with the service, the service was great they were friendly and helpful. The food was good, I had the Irish skillet and wife had a Rueben.

Cafe Classic Breakfast with pretty much everything.

Corner Cafe is my favorite local breakfast and lunch place in Delaware! Great specials every day, a fun staff and friendly customers. Great drink menu too. Open for breakfast and lunch.

I should have known not to go to a sandwich place for breakfast BUT I was hungry and it was the closest place. Huge portions of food!! The pancakes were not our favorite but the home fries and biscuits and gravy were good. Service was great, food came out hot and fast. We will return for lunch and I will update review.

Mushy home fries. Supposed to be extra brown crispy.

Not even good overall. I have been going to this restaurant on and off for many years. That has probably come to an end as of last visit. As many others have said, service is embarrassingly bad. Last visit i actually felt insulted by the poor service. More below. The good: price is below average. Particularly for the serving size. They plate is generally crowded with food. The food is slightly above average IF you can get them to make it as you ordered it. Thats a big IF! The bad: sadly, there is a LOT of bad. In the last 3 visits over about a 2 month period, the order has been wrong when it arrived at the table. I cant remember the first issue. But on the previous visit, we asked for extra brown, CRISPY home fries. We were told, "I will try, but i don't know if they will do it" [kitchen]. When they came out, they were mushy as usual. When we pointed it out, we were told "it's hard to get them crispy". Funny, lots of other restaurants find a way. Not Corner Cafe. Fast forward to the last visit. When we arrived they were busy, but not full. Had several large tables completely empty (10 or more seats). We saw a couple of booths opened but not bussed. They indicated they would clear one for us. 5-10 minutes later, we were still waiting. Someone else on staff(manager?) asked why we had been eaiting so long. She then cleared the table herself and got us seated. No problem, they're busy... one waitress came by and took our drink order. She told us there was drama in the kitcen today. Um, ok? Probably shouldn't tell the customers that, but we were warned i guess. First red flag. A couple minutes later another waitress asked what drinks we wanted. We told her someone already took our drink order, but we were ready to order. She took our order. We didn't even get out coffee for at least 15 minutes after 2 people tried to take our drink order. 2nd red flag. Several large and small groups arrived AFTER US for the next 30-45 minutes. We were glad we ordered when we did. Several of these actually ordered, got their food, ate, and left. Still no food on our table. 3rd red flag. Our waitress noticed us once (been here about an hour now) and said, " should be about 2 minutes". So...10-15 minutes later...still no food. Got here attention as she dashed by our table and she again said "2 minutes". And another 10. I asked for a manager. She said..."ok" almost exasperated. 4th red flag In a few minutes, a third waitress that had not been working with us said she had been "nominated" or something like that to talk to us because everyone else was afraid to. Please understand...i had not been rude in any way. I said please and thank you when drinks were EVENTUALLY refilled. Anyway, this waitress was understanding and apologetic. Um...why was a waitress taking my complaint when i had asked specifically for the MANAGER. Lame. Unprofessional. Embarrassingly so. Crashing and burning now! Maybe 10 minutes later, food arrives. Finally. Immediately notice the toast is wheat not sourdough. Waitress promises to bring it right out. I cut into the eggs and they are over hard or at least medium...i ordered easy. And my home fries are mushy as usual. Funny, the person with me ordered the same order, crispy and all, and somehow they miraculously made hers CRISPY. Apparently they just didn't feel like making mine crispy! Not interested in waiting any longer...i ate it. At least it was good food. We just started eating when the manager? Drops off a baclava a la mode and says "hope this sweetens your day". Sweetens my day? Wow. Uh, thank you? I guess. The food aitress drops off the check. We finish and go to pay. The manager? Again apologizes and says she "hopes they do better next time." I told her flat out they wont get the chance. We wouldn't be back. We were regulars and were just done with this place. She said she understood and took my money whilr saying "who wants to come to a restaurant when the cook is going through a divorce?" What? Sharing persaona info about an employee AND failing to take ownership of management incompetence at the same time? Thats exceptionally clueless. Amazing. Seriously, dont go here. They are terrible.

This is suppose to be an omelet. Their version.

Well .. boy.. this was a drive by spontaneous breakfast.. ( deep breath) paneled walls with splats of grease.. a smell in the air I can't quite describe. Maybe an old grease trap, I'm not sure . Whichever the case, to all of you thinking of stopping DONT DO IT!! The only reason why this place got two stars was the waitress was sweet and courteous. She just works here, not her fault. We ordered omelets with sausage and cheese.. also my husband ordered one pancake. Cool, easy enough.. that could not be farther from the truth. The pancake came cold.. so cold brrrrr .. cold syrup which always bugs us. My omelette was an egg cooked on an open grill with some sausage sprinkled on top. With a piece of American cheese melted on top.. really just bad food. Nothing was good besides the small amount of potatoes on the side. They were cooked perfectly . I was hoping this was a gem we had found.. nope just another piece of coal. Please clean this place .. ugh.

Between the bread for $ 6.50

Ok. I'd like to first say that I've worked in the food industry and I'm a very understanding guy when it comes to restaurants. However, there is absolutely no justification for the 6.50 charge I am stuck with for the absolutely abysmal presentation of the 'between the bread sandwich' I was given after 40 minutes of waiting. The bread looked like it was from meijer down the road, the cheese was haphazardly thrown on the bread and not even melted. I literally had to make a Yelp to help future customers avoid this mistake. This is a travesty. Maybe the other dishes are good but this one was the worst presentation of a dish I've ever seen

Have to say this has become one of our favorites for casual dining with amazing food. Drove to…read moredowntown Delaware and found easy parking on the street (there are also nearby lots). Backstretch is super casual (given Ohio Wesleyan is nearby - its almost a college/town bar) but great to come in a sit at the bar or one of their booths. It isnt big, maybe 15-20 bar stools and 12 booths and 1-2 tables. This time we picked a booth and a great server (Jacobi) helped us right away. Fun part of backstretch is the staff. Servers are friendly, you can watch the cooks prepare your food, and they have a full bar. Note they dont have many draft beer options, but servers tried hard to get us something we liked. Food here is fresh off the grill and tastes like home cooked food - from their Reuben(which was amazing) to Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (has kick but so good) - you cant go wrong. This time we added Tots, Mac and Cheese, and the Deviled eggs (most sandwiches are served with a deviled egg - tasty). We also tried Jacobi recommendation of Hencock Tots - wing sauce - cheese and bacon. Should have just made that my meal. Amazing. They dont take reservations but unless there is an event in downtown, you can usually walk in for dinner. This was our third visit in 60 days! Ready to go back - thanks Jacobi for a fun night and see you all soon.

Our waiter was super friendly and quick! He brought out water and took our drink orders. I had the Patron Saint and it was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. The rest of my party had a tequila sunrise, aperol spritz, and the coffee stout and all were great We had brunch and all of the dishes were so good. I enjoyed the French omelette and the dressing on the side salad was probably my favorite part! My mom loved the smash burger and the waffle fries were amazing and crunchy. My dad enjoyed the country fried steak with egg and also liked the fries. My brother ordered the best out of all of us! The shakshouka was to die for! Definitely give that a try if you have a chance. We finished up with the beignets which were okay but needed more powdered sugar. We also tried the whiskey bread pudding and it was pretty phenomenal! Overall great experience here and my family and I look forward to going back for dinner!

My friend and I had…read morethe pleasure of dining here, and from the moment we walked in, the vibe was spot-on: super cool atmosphere, somewhere between "hip date night" and "I could happily live here." Our server, Tony, deserves his own fan club. He was the perfect combination of kind, attentive, and genuinely funny--the type of person who could probably convince you to order a shoe if it came with the chef's balsamic reduction. Speaking of which, I had the filet medallions with said reduction, and let me just say: if I could marry a sauce, this would be "the one." My friend ordered the scallops with risotto, and she ate every last grain of rice like she was guarding treasure. Special shoutout to Matt, the manager, who went above and beyond to accommodate my many food allergies without making me feel like "that" customer. Instead, he treated it like a fun culinary puzzle to solve. Food? Phenomenal! Service? Flawless! Atmosphere? Just the right mix of cool and comfortable. Regrets? Only that I didn't take a picture... but that just means I have to go back.

The potato was okay, and I couldn't tell if it was from a box or they peeled them, but they were tasty and a nice large portion. It just needed butter which they brought me.
