After the Delaware Farmer's Market, my wife and I wanted to rewind time at this old school diner. Leave it to us to go to a place called Hamburger Inn and not get a hamburger. And I think that might have been our downfall. We went the breakfast route and started with a Cinnamon roll made right on the griddle. It created this crispy char that gave the roll more of a funnel cake texture. Unique, and the icing definitely enhances it (as it does most cinnamon rolls). Their special breakfast sandwich, "The Morning Wake-up" touts a "2x the size English Muffin" and they were not lying. This sandwich had cheese, multiple meats and vegetables, and I needed to take half of it home due to sheer size. What it didn't have... sauce. What it needed... sauce, syrup, aioli or something to lubricate all of those toppings. The breakfast potatoes on the side needed salt/seasoning/sauce, too, to be more to my liking. It was a similar experience with my wife's Reuben and the fries that she ordered; the sandwich had its moments, but it made me wish one of us got a burger like most of the other patrons. read more

This restaurant might as well be a time machine. You walk in and there are no tables just a bar that outlines the center of the restaurant where you simply find the best seat possible and grab a menu. The specials are wrote on a board and the service is great. One of the coolest places you can go to. Environment is full of energy because of the way the restaurant is set up and the food is exceptional. Personally one of the best Rubens I've had in a long time. read more

They word "hamburger" is in the name for a reason! We had a Western burger and fries, it was excellent! Perfectly-cooked, topped with bacon and onion rings. The side of fries were perfect, make sure you douse them with malt vinegar to have the optimal experience. We stopped by during the Gilmore Girls event when they rebranded the restaurant as Luke's diner. Super cute idea for a fun night in downtown Delaware! read more

Hamburger Inn Diner - Hamburger Inn aka Luke's Diner for the night - Burgers Near Me - Delaware, Ohio

Wish I had taken a picture before diving in! We ordered the Pancake Platter with blueberry pancakes, a garlic omelet, a Philly steak omelet, and coffee -- everything was delicious. The menu is fun and creative, offering both coffee and beer, and the house cinnamon rolls are absolutely to die for. The restaurant has been around since 1932, and it's easy to see why. The food and service are top-notch, the staff is very friendly, and the warm wood décor gives it a cozy, welcoming feel. Everything came out fresh, hot, and fast. Love this place -- highly recommend! read more

It's been a while since we were here at the Hamburger Inn so we decided to stop in for lunch. Wife had a hamburger and fries, I went with a cheeseburger and home fries. The food was excellent as was the service! It was about half full as we arrived at about 1:45pm. Our waitress was prompt to take our drink order and in no time our food was delivered. I'm sure we will be back, give them a try! read more

Where the Portions Are Big and the Seating is...Communal Therapy Let me start with this -- the biscuits and gravy didn't just arrive, they made an entrance. I'm talking hugemongus, like "Are you sure this isn't a prop from a food challenge show?" kind of big. Toss in some scrambled eggs and a couple of intimidatingly large bottles of hot sauce (because nothing says "wake up" like sweating through your breakfast), and you're off to the races. I built a deconstructed breakfast bowl for the tribe to-go -- home fries (extra well done like they owed me money), sausage patties, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs. It was like putting together breakfast LEGOs. We also got the cinnamon roll French toast, which is what happens when a cinnamon roll falls in love with a griddle and they make sweet, sticky magic. Add some bacon for balance (and because bacon is love). Now... the seating. Let's just say, privacy took the morning off. No booths. Just a long, zig-zaggy counter that feels like speed dating for breakfast enthusiasts. You want syrup? Gotta make eye contact and negotiate with two strangers and a ketchup bottle first. But the real MVP? The service. Lightning-fast, friendly, and more on top of it than your overachieving coworker with color-coded spreadsheets. They handled our chaos (and calorie count) like absolute pros. Bottom line: if you're hungry, slightly antisocial, and like your breakfast with a side of architectural wonder (seriously, how does that seating even work?), Hamburger Inn is your holy grail. read more

This is by far my favorite place for breakfast hands down Low prices big portions great service read more

People were pleasant and the fries tasty, however, I ordered my burger well-done/no pink and it came looking nicely prepared, 1/2 inch thick but when I cut into it ... it was pink throughout. Person who I think may have been manager or owner was apologetic and took it back to get me one that was cooked and upon return it was replaced with a strange super thin patty (less than 1/4 inch think) ... like half the amount of meat! It was cooked through, but how could it not be ... as it was soooo thin! My husband hypothesizes they just smashed it to get it cooked all the way through but the circumference was still the same ... I think they gave me some sort of cheap children's mini patty. Felt like a diet rationed plate! Not likely to return to this place. Guessing it may have a good breakfast but the ratings on the burger are definitely not accurate. read more

Under new management for a while now. Love they have upgraded some of the outdoor furniture and brought back the chicken fried steak but it's hard to get out of there for similar items we used to get there for under $15-17 a person. Add tip and it gets pretty pricey. Food is still good but the new pricing will limit us from frequency. read more

Just got the fish and chips and it wasn't anything special. I was disappointed and regretted ordering it. My husband and I come to hamburger inn frequently and have always had good food. The staff is always pleasant and friendly. I give the restaurant and other food items a 5 but give the fish a 0 ! Overall, I had to give my final review a 3 star due to the fish. My husband had a burger and he said it was good. read more

Super cool old-school diner with unique u-shaped counters where you seat yourself. Had breakfast with my husband and MIL, we all enjoyed our food! Hubby had a full order of biscuits and gravy - it was HUGE! He really liked the dish, and was happy to bring home one biscuit with gravy from the four in the order. MIL had pancakes and sausage, the sausage looked homemade - she said it was a little spicy and VERY good. I had the breakfast sammie - TOTALLY DELISH! They make the eggs with fresh jalapeños, then layer them on an over-size English muffin with bacon, ham, lettuce, tomato and cheese... and serve it up with some home fries. I was a happy diner, for realz! Highly recommend! We did forget to order the "world famous mighty cinnamon roll"... next time, Hamburger Inn Diner! read more

Had a Monday off so we visited Hamburger Inn for breakfast. I'd definitely describe this as more of a dive, it's pretty small and unassuming, and dimly lit. The tables are bars kind of in an S shape and the stools are bolted down. When we arrived we were greeted and told to sit wherever, it wasn't very busy so we had no problem finding a spot. I have menu anxiety, so of course I already had decided what to get before arriving so we ordered right away after we got drinks. Service was fast and the prices were cheap. The food was delicious. We had a cinnamon rolled, warmed up. It was so good, well balanced and not overly sweet. For my main I had the bacon ham and cheddar scramble, it was HUGE. Very tasty, I love the style of their fried potatoes, they're like crispy slices. My husband had the lumberjack with over medium eggs, a nice size portion. Delicious pancakes. We really enjoyed our breakfast, I can definitely see why it's packed on the weekends. If you're planning to come try a week day, or be prepared for a wait since there's not a ton of seating. read more

Hamber Inn is a diner serving all threwmeals. Free street parking and 3 U shaped counters open to the kitchen for the wait staff to serve everyone easily. Each "island" has 13 stools bolted to the floor. Seat yourself when you enter. I saw people shifting left or right to help accommodate groups. The menu made comment to their famous cinnamon rolls My husband began to drool immediately and we ordered one. It was a 2 layered pancake like roll smothered in icing. I could smell the sweetness! He said it was fantastic! The menu offered a wide range of diner food, they had 4 draft beers on tap and milkshakes. But we were there for breakfast. Everything walking past me looked fabulous! My son would love the Lumberjack! Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, meat. I'm excited to come back with him. Hubs ordered the western omlet. 3 eggs, large chunks of ham, plus green pepper and onions and American Cheese. A definite "order again". I indulged in the Gravy Train Omlet. Also 3 eggs, crumbled sausage, American cheese smothered in sausage gravy. The Gravy was heavy with sausage and made with a noticable amount of black pepper just the way I like it!. So good! I would also order this again! Beverages were served in large red cups. The Hamburger Inn sold ads space for local businesses in the cups: smart! My only complaint is that their straws were too short. I had to fish my straw out of the cup to sip my water. First world problems, I know! I recommend visiting this diner and I will return soon! read more

My daughter and I love this place, it's really nostalgic looking on the inside. We loved the stools and bar seating. It made me think of Woolworths Department Store restaurants. I ordered the Chorizo Jalapeño Burger with 2 beef patties and a Chorizo patty. That was filling and delicious WOW!! My daughter had the Bacon Bleu Burger with 2 patties. She said the flavor was outstanding and her fries were very good. I did get onion rings with my meal and they were crispy and cooked the way I like them. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you the restrooms were clean as well! read more

Just a simple old style burger joint! The burgers were hot, fresh and very flavorful. The fries were like fair fries and they even had malt vinegar to sprinkle on. The best part of the meal was the cinnamon bun for desert.....hands down the best cinnamon bun I have ever had. I can't do justice in words how good these things are. They also serve breakfast and I can tell you that on my next day off I am driving up there just to try their breakfast and have another of those cinnamon buns. Oh, and the staff there is very friendly and very attentive.....Great experience all the way around! read more

After my disappointment with Rutherford Cafe my wife and I dared venture into Delaware again on our visit to Ohio and boy were we pleasantly surprised by the Hamburger Inn. Great food, generous portions, wide variety to choose from, down home friendly staff, very reasonable prices, overall great value. You had me a gyro meat! It's like they read my mind, gyro omelet, fantastic, I loved it. There tzatziki is different it has some Italian herbs in it, I like this twist. Richelle got the biscuits, gravy, and home fries. Light pepper to the gravy, homemade biscuits goodness. Everything is cooked perfectly. Staff is friendly and attentive. First time in for quite a while. Used to be a regular. Came in today to catch all the activity downtown. Ordered western omelet, home fries, sausage gravy and sausage links with water. Heavy, older, tattooed woman in black shirt working the back was my waitress. She promptly brings me coffee which I did not order. I repeat that I ordered water and left the coffee sit. She brings me the water. The food was fine and go to leave. They don't have one person at the cash register, the waitress needs to come and check you out. I look at the bill and it shows 2.50 for coffee I didn't ask for and didn't drink. Waitress tries to assure me it was taken off and that the total was fine. I left highly doubtful of her honesty. The total bill was $25 and change. That seemed pretty compared to BE or Scramblers. It's a hassle to park and get there and I will be crossing them off the list. read more

Went out to Delaware to the Hamburger Inn for breakfast this morning. Ordered the Biscuits and Gravy with Fried Potatoes. The biscuits were just okay for me, a little harder than I expected. The gravy had a good amount of sausage in it but was lacking any real flavor. The potatoes were just okay and could have been cooked a little longer. On to the star of the show. That is there Cinnamon Roll with a Maple topping which was off the chart. Should have ordered several more. Super tasty with plenty of flavor and icing. Yummmy!!' Our Server was Sarah and she was super nice and checked on us a number read more

Step back in time and visit this authentic diner. It's counter service mostly with a few outdoor tables. It's not great for a group, but perfect for you and a friend to enjoy breakfast or lunch. A quick Yelp search led us to the Hamburger Inn Diner, as we were in town yo watch our daughter's college hoops game. Crowded, but two great stools at the counter, next to a well-known customer who caught me eyeing his HUGE bowl of beef & noodles over mashed taters. Friendly, home-towny, awesome folks. Crushed my mushroom/bacon/swiss double with fresh-cut fries. Mrs. had Hometown Favorite breakfast, and was nice enough to leave me a big fat sausage link. Can't wait 'til Denison girls' team visits here again...we'll be back!!! Thanks to our server...who was perfect! Don't miss this place. read more

First went to the Hamburger Inn nearly 50 years ago, and just about lived there in my college days at OWU. Have stopped in nostogically for 30 years since moving back to the area, and was always pleased with the consistency. Not this trip, last Wednesday. Had the Bacon Blue burger with fries, a cup of chili and coffee. Chili taste was fine, but it was at best lukewarm. Fries were abysmal, limp and oily. Bacon was decent, but the burger patty was dry, and the blue cheese crumbles were tasteless. I have to blame Delaware's nasty iron/sulfur water, but the coffee tasted like crap. SERVICE was top-notch, attentive and friendly. The meal just sucked. read more

A fabulous treat with food, service, and ambiance all deserving of over the top marks. The service was phenominal with our waitress providing quick response to our needs. She deserves even more credit for helping us provide a surprise to our good friends. She gave no indication that we picked up their bill leaving them wondering who their benefactor was. First the pros. It has a great diner atmosphere. All seating is at a unique counter that's shaped with U's that allow the servers to walk in between customers. It was crowded with a happy "buzz". Service was friendly. The famous cinnamon rolls are enormous and tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but good. Breakfast is served anytime. Cons. The hamburger was just ok.I ordered medium well but it was medium to med. rare. The homemade hamburger buns were tasty but not special enough that I would have known had they not said so. The french fries were good but not great. Too soggy for my taste. I recommend it for the atmosphere and I want to try it again. read more
