The dine in menu for 1808

If you want to try this fabulous restaurant, you have until next Saturday, October 11. We ordered our usual shrimp and grits for me and medallions for my husband. They were both absolutely wonderful as usual! This restaurant has been our place for celebrations - anniversary, my college graduation, birthdays and so on. Hopefully something equally fantastic! Thank you to our fabulous server,Alko. She was absolutely amazing! Good luck to all of the staff! Hope to see you in other Delaware restaurants.

I know it's Just bread. I know there are already a ton of pics but....... Just get it.

Bottom Line: Wow There's really not much more that I can say that hasn't already been said. I do think it's weird aka wrong to charge for bread. That being said - it's a great presentation and pretty delicious. The Shrimp and Grits is absolutely lick the bowl worthy . The Short ribs were very good. Delicious sauce over the potatoes. Fork tender beef. Love the extensive beer collection and the fact that they were knowledgeable about the options. This is a perfect date night option. Upscale, delicious food options. Bottom Line: will def be back. Would recommend to everyone.

This is an excellent restaurant in most ways. The service was outstanding, and the food was very good. The ambiance is nice. The roasted cauliflower appetizer was very good -- the harrisa gives it a real kick so be careful about that :), if you are spice averse. I really liked their cocktails. For the main dish, I wanted to get their 48-hour short-rib but they had run out. So instead, I got their chicken special which was delicious as well. A great meal--definitely deserves a return visit.

Great spot in Delaware for a quality meal. We made an Open Table Rez at 5:45 on a Saturday night, it fit our schedule. Good thing we did because walk-ins had to wait a long time. By the time we left at 7, the large restaurant was full. Nice service. I think the entire staff are college students. No problem there, just that they are short on their menu knowledge and food in general. But service was steady and not intrusive. Nice beer menu. Nice spirits menu too. Our two top had a Caesar with grilled chicken and Miso Salmon (very unique and tasty). The anchovies on the Caesar were white, my least favorite. The salad needed a salty brown version instead of pickled. Moderate pricing. We'd come back when we are in the area!

Service was terrific. Carpaccio outstanding. Both entrees were devoured. Will be back to try dinner.

    Pea Hummus App (05/21/2023)

Our server gal was nice, answered our questions about the menu and gave personal recommendations (always a a huge plus for any quality server, imo). Being just after 12, the place was not completely full, which I wasn't expecting due to the rave reviews about this place. I decided to get their Pea hummus (!!) and later ordered the Smoked Pork Hash to take home for another meal. The pea hummus was delicious. Not too thick, but not runny, either; perfect consistency. I was very surprised how crisp and flavorful the peeled carrots were, and the savory to sweet ratio was great. If I found something like this pea spread closer to home, you betcha bottom dollar it's worth a try. I had my has for dinner, and was rather disappointed in the scant amount of pork it had. My friend got it to eat at the restaurant, and hers was Chuck full of pieces. Apparently, they must have overindulged her bowl, forgetting that my order was yet to be made. The salsa verde is not hot at all (yay!), and gave a good background flavor. I don't make it to Delaware often, but when I do, I always love trying quality food. Will I keep 1808 on my bookmarks? No, there's too many other places I want to try out. A satisfying lunch, nonetheless!

    Bread pudding and beignets

My friends and I came here for the first time a few months ago. They had their greenhouses up outside and we were able to make a reservation to eat in one. I recommend not booking one on a really hot day because we were really hot, but otherwise, it was so cool! Our server was fantastic and offered us 2 free desserts for our birthdays! There was not a lot of seating due to Covid, but we went on a non busy day and we had reservations. There's parking available around the area as well! We got a few different dishes and all of them were delicious! Every dish was flavorful and made very well. The beef carpaccio, 48 hour short rib, salmon filet, filet medallions, and risotto were fantastic and so delicious. The meats were tender and juicy, risotto was flavorful, and the salmon was cooked very well! I think the portions could have been a bit bigger for the price, we spent about $150 for 4 people minus desserts, but it was very good! We got whiskey bread pudding and New Orleans beignets and they were absolutely delicious. The beignets were unexpected because they were light and flakey and drizzled with honey and powdered sugar. The latte that the beignets came with was a good bitter balance to the sweet pastries. The bread pudding was also very sweet, but delicious! I recommend this place for dinner, a date, a small group, and delicious food!

After dinner drinks review...delightful! One of the best cocktails I have ever had. It was a "white winter margarita" which was on the special winter cocktails menu. It was the love child of a margarita and a pina colada. I was transported to Margaritaville on a freezing cold night in Delaware. Had a great lime and coconut flavor without being too sweet. Great atmosphere and bartenders were so friendly. Will come back for bar snacks (cheese curds!) and drinks again for sure.

Do you love soup & salad as much as I do? There is something about a great bowl of soup and a delicious salad. It's very comforting to me, and I've always loved them. It's the type of food I could eat any time! We came for the soup and salad and 1808 American Bistro nailed it! I can't wait to come back and try some of their other menu items. --- Follow @ohiofoodlover on Instagram for more Ohio eats. ---

And the building and restaurant has a cool history as being one of the oldest in the state. My server Ian was cool as was the rest of the staff I encounter. It s nice to see younger people with goals who take pride in where they work. He recommended the grilled sirloin which was good: A simple nice grilled steak with great char marks and seasoning. The potato was okay, and I couldn't tell if it was from a box or they peeled them, but they were tasty and a nice large portion. It just needed butter which they brought me. The Caesar salad was very good, and I am picky about both salads and dressings... I could have even eaten more of that! I am glad they are preserving it and its legacy. I am also glad they are open on Monday when many of their competitors in Delaware are NOT! When I first thought of Bunns, I thought of old people, and this clearly contemporary with an updated menu! They even have Jell-O! I wiIll definitely return and recommend it to anyone who asks me for a good place to eat... Much appreciated.

Backstretch is super casual (given Ohio Wesleyan is nearby - its almost a college/town bar) but great to come in a sit at the bar or one of their booths. It isnt big, maybe 15-20 bar stools and 12 booths and 1-2 tables. This time we picked a booth and a great server (Jacobi) helped us right away. Fun part of backstretch is the staff. Servers are friendly, you can watch the cooks prepare your food, and they have a full bar. Note they dont have many draft beer options, but servers tried hard to get us something we liked. Food here is fresh off the grill and tastes like home cooked food - from their Reuben(which was amazing) to Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (has kick but so good) - you cant go wrong. This time we added Tots, Mac and Cheese, and the Deviled eggs (most sandwiches are served with a deviled egg - tasty). We also tried Jacobi recommendation of Hencock Tots - wing sauce - cheese and bacon. Should have just made that my meal. Amazing. They dont take reservations but unless there is an event in downtown, you can usually walk in for dinner. This was our third visit in 60 days! Ready to go back - thanks Jacobi for a fun night and see you all soon.

It's piled high with shredded brisket and rib meat, all mixed in their BBQ sauce, then topped with housemade pickles and crispy onion straws on a soft bun. It's messy in the best possible way. Smoky, saucy, savory -- every bite delivered. I made it a combo and added fresh-cut French fries and an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half iced tea). The fries came out piping hot and clearly fresh from the fryer -- crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Exactly what you want. The Arnold Palmer was refreshing and balanced, not overly sweet, which paired perfectly with all that BBQ goodness. One thing I really appreciate here is the sauce bar. There's a variety of BBQ sauces available so you can customize every bite to your liking -- sweet, smoky, spicy, tangy -- whatever mood you're in. And bonus: the housemade pickles are free for the asking. If you're a pickle fan like me, that's a win. Overall, tasty sandwich, hot fresh fries, solid drink, and plenty of sauce options to make it your own.
