Just had dinner tonight at City Barbeque and let me tell you... I left full and happy. I ordered the Not So Sloppy Joe sandwich -- and this thing does not play around. It's piled high with shredded brisket and rib meat, all mixed in their BBQ sauce, then topped with housemade pickles and crispy onion straws on a soft bun. It's messy in the best possible way. Smoky, saucy, savory -- every bite delivered. I made it a combo and added fresh-cut French fries and an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half iced tea). The fries came out piping hot and clearly fresh from the fryer -- crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Exactly what you want. The Arnold Palmer was refreshing and balanced, not overly sweet, which paired perfectly with all that BBQ goodness. One thing I really appreciate here is the sauce bar. There's a variety of BBQ sauces available so you can customize every bite to your liking -- sweet, smoky, spicy, tangy -- whatever mood you're in. And bonus: the housemade pickles are free for the asking. If you're a pickle fan like me, that's a win. Stopped here for dinner after an appointment. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a coleslaw slaw topper. and hush puppies. The pork was hot but felt a little tough. The hush puppies were served fresh out of the fryer so they were super hot but a little over cooked. The place was busy. The service was fairly fast and the ambiance was typical. read more

I ordered a large beef brisket for a big family gathering because I loved the idea of just making the side dishes.Considering it was over $200 I was EXTREMELY disappointed at how dry this beef was....from my understanding of beef brisket, it should be moist,tender & juicy.Although the convenience of this was a great idea,I'm Reluctant to order this again.If I'm spending $200 plus I was it to be DELICIOUS,not dry!!!!!! So, I had the daunting task of feeding a small army (a.k.a. hungry family and contractors) and figured I'd test City BBQ. The challenge: I gave them little notice. I used the app to order a mountain of pulled chicken, brisket, baked beans, and cornbread, fully expecting to wait an eternity for them to wrangle up that much smoky goodness. But these wizards had it ready in 30 minutes flat! I don't know what magic pitmasters they have back there, but I'm convinced they're working with time-traveling smokers or something. And the food? Absolutely fantastic. The pulled chicken was juicy, the brisket was so tender it basically melted on contact, and the baked beans were the perfect mix of sweet and savory. Don't even get me started on the cornbread--pretty sure I would have fought someone for the last piece. In summary: If you're ever in a rush to satisfy a ravenous crew and don't want to skimp on quality, this is the spot. Just be prepared for the inevitable food coma that follows. When doordash couldn't take accountability for THEIR mistake, Phil and his crew made it right even though it wasn't their mistake to fix. Super nice people in there, and I gained a lot of respect for them tonight. Doordash driver delivered to the wrong address, then hung up on us when we called him out. Then doordash support hung up on us too, which is absolutely INSANE. But Phil and his crew? They stepped up and handled it when they didnt even need to. My husband and I have been eating here almost once a week since they opened. They never disappoint. The quality has been consistently excellent. The smoked Turkey salad, Nashville hot chicken, smoked chicken breast, smoked Turkey sandwich, hand cut fries and hush puppies are always in our rotation of what we order. I almost feel bad leaving such a low rating because the employees were were so nice. But, it's average food at best. It's very clear that it's chain restaurant bbq. It's like expecting a great burger at Applebees. Meats are dry (brisket and turkey). greens taste funny. Coleslaw was bland. Cornbread taste like burnt, rancid oil. The place is clean and most of the food was decent enough to eat, but with places like Martinis in existence, why would anyone go here? That said, the workers were all great. read more

I personally did not place the order of the fabulous food my co-worker treated all of us with that came from CBBQ, but all of it was awesome! Went to City Barbeque on October 29 2023 in Delaware. It was clean and no long lines. I ordered collard greens that were bad. My husband agreed. Too much vinegar and salt. Hush puppies weren't hushpupies. They were hard, burned, and not round. I WONT go their again. So unimpressed. read more

We went through the drive-thru in Delaware OH on 2/01/2024 at approximately 5:00pm. The cashier at the window was excellent. Very personable and friendly. However, the food was terrible. The hush puppies were black, greasy and dry. The brisket was not even edible. Dry, hard and full of fat. Our dog even rejected it. On top of it all the cost was approximately $30 for 2 people. All for a meal we still regretted the next day. We won't be going back soon...if ever. read more

Pre-ordered for Thanksgiving 2 weeks ago. Had a confirmation email and the order shows on my app. Showed up 1/2 hour before pickup time, she had my order printed, handed it to me and sent me in. They said I would have to wait. I sat for 15 minutes and there was a problem with my order. Not what you want to hear on Thanksgiving. They said the best they could do was give me half a turkey breast ready to go and another half that was refrigerated that I would have to put in the oven. That was the only choice. They gave me a $25 gift card for my trouble. I got home and the cold one looked rather dark - almost like brisket. I put it in the oven and followed their directions. I served later than I planned. The cold one that I had to warm was dry and tough. I suspect it was something they weren't even going to sell. They gave it to me in a pinch. The other one was juicy. We wound up dumping the bad one and filling up on sides. I just don't see how something like this happens. They had the order in the computer. All you have to do is count. City BBQ had been great in Powell, Polaris, and in Newark. I was hopeful for this one on Sunbury. This disappointment will mean I'll never count on any City BBQ for a holiday meal again. read more

New restaurant, Friday night. The longer wait was unexpected. The price sadly is about right these days. The brisket was tasty. Sauce on the side. Meat tender and just. Not a lot of fat. The sides were horrible. Hush puppies burnt and hard. The cole slaw would have been great if it were tasteless. One forkful was enough. Hope it gets better. Second time here. I had the quarter chicken thigh leg. WOW! The meat was so tender and had a great smoke to it. I ate it with whatever stuff comes on it. Absolutely no need for sauce.
