As we deal with the extreme cold this week (last week of January), I was trying to think warm thoughts and how nice it would be when winter was finally over. That's when I thought of dining on the patio at Jimmy V's. This is one of my favorite warm weather dining places. I never imagined a day when I would pay $15 for a lone cheeseburger, without french fries! It would have cost close to $4 extra to substitute potato chips for fries! (You can buy a 10 lb bag of potatoes for that price, and that's retail). They're just run-of-the-mill ripple chips, like Lays, straight out of a bag. In fact, mine was piled high with crumbs from the bottom of the bag. The burger was thick and lovely to look at, but dry and ordinary. The bun was dry as well. With tax and tip I ended up paying twenty bucks for a burger with chips. Unbelievably, I was charged 49 cents for mayo on my burger! Never could have imagined an up-charge for a condiment. All my life, condiments were part of the sandwich. Next thing you know, we'll be paying extra for salt & pepper. On the plus side, the service was excellent, the restaurant was clean, and the seating was comfortable. Unfortunately (for me.. maybe there are people who enjoy it?), halfway thru our meal extremely loud music came on -- with a speaker several feet away from me -- making conversation for our party of 8 near impossible. read more

I've only been twice, but had a great experience both times ! I had the patty melt and the panini and both were delicious and filling. Both waitresses I had were super friendly and checked on us often (I can't remember their names). The patio is also gorgeous and the rain wall makes it that much better. read more

We spotted Jimmy V's while walking around looking for grub and liked their menu. We were seated the minute we walked in by a very nice lady who was also our waitress. She immediately took our drinks order and overall was quite attentive, friendly and helpful. This place looks like a typical sports bar/American food eatery. It is very comfortable and relaxed with a lot of TV screens on showing various sporting events. It's fairly small, so it would not be ideal for very large groups. My hubby ordered the patty melt, cooked medium, with chips and I ordered the All American Burger, cooked medium, and added an egg, along with fries for us to share. The upgrade to fries is a little pricey, so we figured we would share one portion, which was the right choice. My burger was okay, but very dry. It was not cooked medium and was actually well done, and they don't toast their buns or add any form of condiment to the sandwich. I ate half of it and took the other half home, but ended up throwing it out the next day. It was underwhelming. My hubby enjoyed his patty melt but it was also well done. The fries were okay, but nothing to write home about. Dine in restaurants cost a whole lot more than they did a few years ago, so it's quite disappointing to spent $60.00 on mediocre food. I doubt we'll be stopping in to Jimmy V's any time soon. read more

For both entries, we asked to substitute fries with vegetables. I feel the waitress should have told us that there would be an extra charge to do that! I met a group of friends at this restaurant right at 11:00 A.M. Our waitress was attentive and on point with our group of 8 women. She kept our beverages filled and took our orders promptly. Our waitress was 5 stars! I ordered the half-sized Jimmy V salad with chicken breast. There was plenty of spinach and the chicken was flavorful. We stopped by Jimmy V's (a cute, little pub) after a long weekend of basketball. We stopped by around 7 PM on a Sunday night a few weeks ago. It was pretty empty. We noticed that only one server was working - Cliff. He was super friendly and kind! We loved him! For dinner, I ordered the Reuben with chips. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of my meal. For the Reuben - the corned beef had an odd taste and the sandwich overall was super messy. The homemade chips could have been cooked a bit longer too. My husband and kids enjoyed their meals though! My husband also ordered the onion rings per Cliff's recommendation. These were SO good - they were the perfect breading/onion ratio and were nice and crispy! We came on a Thursday around 6pm to eat on the patio. Just about every table was full, but we managed to get seated at one of the last tables. (There may have been open tables inside, but we had a dog.) The patio is dog friendly and they provide water bowls for dogs. You get to seat yourself. We ordered a Saganaki Cheese which they lit on fire and then squeezed a lemon over it. It was served with pita bread. This was good and the pita bread was soft and fluffy. We also got a mushroom burger. The veggies were very fresh and thick, which over powered the mushroom taste. The bun was great. Lastly, we got an Italian panini. Tastes exactly as expected. I've been to Jimmy V's a few times before, and honestly, the service at the tables has always been subpar. Slow responses, distracted servers -- it just never felt like a place I wanted to return to. But last Friday, I came in with a friend and decided to sit at the bar instead -- and it was the best decision we made. The bartender (I wish I had gotten her name!) completely changed the experience for us. She was warm, attentive, and clearly knew her stuff. Her drink recommendations were spot on, and she helped us both choose meals we ended up loving. Even though she was busy, she made sure we felt taken care of the entire time. Her energy, professionalism, and genuine hospitality made a huge difference. It felt like we were at a completely different restaurant than the one I remembered from past visits. If you've been let down by table service here before like I have, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. We've been going to Jimmy V's since they opened, but I think we've been priced out now. The kids meal prices went up by two dollars. This was for about a cup of pasta with butter for $7.99. No drink or garlic bread included. The kids' meals alone were $23 with drinks. Bud Light and Miller Lite were $4 a bottle. I get that there's inflation, but this is too much. We even heard that they raised the prices for the servers' meals. Why they wouldn't give servers free meals in the day and age that it's hard finding help is beyond me. We love supporting local business, but your pricing does not appeal to local customers. In the past, it would've been a wait to get a patio table on a gorgeous fall (weekend) evening, but we walked right in at 6 pm, and there were outside tables available the whole night. We hope this doesn't become a permanent change because we will miss going there for family dinners. read more

We have never tried this place because every time we came we couldn't get anyones attention. Being willing to give it one last try, we saw a sign that said:"Seat yourself." Oh, that's why! So, this being our first visit I'd say I am impressed with the atmosphere (outside) and the food. As we sat outside, I marveled at the well-designed, and cared for garden. Sitting among the numerous blue pots of annuals, the punchy red umbrellas, and the copper wall water fountain, I felt very relaxed and happy. I was told that the owner is also the landscaper and it made me want to meet him or her. The menu is voluminous. I had the Greek panini with chip and my husband had a Shrimp Pasta with garlic bread. I had a bite of the garlic bread, and I believe it is addictive. The inside of the restaurant looks like the usual kind of restaurant/bar. And our server looked like an avatar in a video game, (a look for a college crowd I guess...) which made me feel slightly uncomfortable. I will come back for the patio experience. read more

Stopped in here on a Friday night and got seated right away, a sports bar setting with not your average sports bar menu. It has all your normal items from a bar but also Greek items. I ordered their hummus and a pork Gyro. Everything tasted super fresh and was really delicious. Service was great and really enjoyed the vibe of the place. My GF & I went on a late Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all, really. We got seated quickly, but took a little while for the waiter to come over. We got the Greek salad, which she said was very good, & I got the panini. Good size & excellent taste. Prices were okay, but could have been better for what we ordered. Sports bar ambiance, but not too loud. Nice place. I'd definitely go again sometime if I'm in the area. It's a place that either you love it, or you think it's okay. I'm with the latter. We've been coming to Jimmy V's for several years and it's always been hit or miss on the service. We went this past weekend and our waitress was so great. The place was fairly busy but she was on top of it! The food had has always been tasty and there are lots of vegetarian options! This place is a mix of Greek & American food so even picky eaters can find something on their menu. The vibe is sports bar and there is a great patio that's open in the summer which has a pretty water feature. I'd say that if you are in a hurry, maybe don't chance it, but it is a Westerville staple. read more

At a glance the menu looks pretty stuffed full, but after a second look it's more like a little bit of a lotta compartments. Friends chose this place for it's supposedly great patio space. Beware, JV's doesn't do reservations (unless u want the party room), so fare warning. I wasn't sure how busy it's be, being a Saturday, in the smack of the late morning, and with the farmers market up and going for the season. There are plenty of parking lots around, and side-street parking, so don't be deterred. The patio area is very nice. It has been maintained well over the slower height of the pandemic. Nicely landscaped for the warmer months. There's a good bit of shade from the table umbrellas, however, the breeze isn't exactly free to flow thru due to the proximity of other structures so close around. The waterfall wall is a great calming feature. And, of course, the music playing out is not too loud, you can definitely easily talk over it, but it's a good background sound. Our waiter was very polite and patient. One man running the patio tables, so I applaud his hustle. I got their Energy Wrap and I splurged for the sweet potato fries cause, well, I tend to cave for sweet spuds whenever in the moment. The wrap was tasty, had all the right components: protein (eggs and bacon), veggies (love spinach!) and the soft spinach tortilla encompassed it all nicely. The sweet potato fries were also good; perhaps a tad shorter on the cooking time, but to each their own. This is a great location in the heart of old downtown Westerville, just a block or two over from their outdoor farmers market, so I'm sure it will continue to get prime action, especially during the warmer months! read more

Sitting outside to enjoy downtown Westerville and the waterfall rock wall is by far the best and only thing Jimmy V's has to offer (at least the night we were there). The water tasted really funky. I then got a lemonade which also tasted mildly weird. My friend got the grilled cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted. It was cold slices of cheese on semi-browned bread. I got the dolmathes appetizer. They were alright, they were supposed to be served cold, but I wasn't expecting it. They would taste a lot better served warm. There service was so-so. The tzatziki and hummus were the stars. #thebestbite #bestbite My dinner partner had the GRILLED ATLANTIC SALMON Served with sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes, red onion and spinach topped with lemon dill sauce. The plate got licked clean. I had the TRADITIONAL GREEK Freshly roasted gyro meat, crumbled feta cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and creamy tzatziki sauce. ( got@mine minus Feta) it was okay. Went there a few years ago sat on the patio. Food, service and atmosphere was great. Turn to today not so much. Service was very off. Ordered drinks and watched the server pick up olives with her hand and drop them into a bloody mary...UNSANITARY! We were a party of 5, Food came out 5 different times all 4 to 5 min. apart. Several dishes were cold. The server brought out an incorrect meal and 10 min later delevered the correct meal. Cleared the table all but 1 plate and never returned to pick it up. We ordered 2 drinks came back with 1 then asked if my husband wanted another drink even though we ordered the 2 together. I understand its hard to get help today but least train them properly. No management was seen, no one checked on us. I guess its just easier to let the help run the place. Now I understand why it wasn't busy for a Sunday! Definitely will skip this place next time. read more

We had an enjoyable experience eating outside even though it was "only" bar service at the time. Tables were clean, the environment was very calming with the lovely water feature. My panini was delicious, my son ate the chicken fingers (which is saying something) and my husband did say his burger was a little bland (he is a burger connoisseur, however). This is the place my husband and I go to for burgers...they have the best in the area, hands down. We love the regular burger and the patty melt. He prefers the fresh cut fries, I'm all about the sweet potato fries. Basically all of their sandwiches here are fantastic - paninis to Gyros. My husband also really likes their wings...meaty and unbreaded. We go there to watch college football and basketball, they are also a Browns Backers bar.
