    Blood orange martini.

I have posted a review of the food previously, and it's a winner. This time I figured they deserved a nod to their drinks. I tried the Blood Orange Martini and it was DANGEROUSLY good! Great little spot, great atmosphere, give it a go!

We recently had an early Sunday dinner at the Corner Bistro. The food and service are consistently excellent-- best Italian cuisine in RI.

My friend knows much more about wine than I do, so he was the decision maker for our wine choices and we ordered a 1/2 bottle of red which we both found to be very delicious. Of course, we had to try some food too and the small bites menu was perfect with something to satisfy nearly every taste. We opted for the meat charcuterie, and it was beautifully presented with enough for the two of us to share. There is also a cheese charcuterie on the menu, but unfortunately there is not an option for a combined meat and cheese plate. We sat, sipped, and tasted for a while and never felt rushed. The atmosphere was so comfortable and we'll definitely consider going back here again.

I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.

Service is excellent - attentive and without being intrusive, and patient in answering questions. The tables are a bit close, so we had some difficulty with the two of us seated on the inside of the four-top (closest to the window) getting up for the restroom, and we heard the conversation of the noisy folks behind us pretty clearly. From the offer to take our coats to the lovely bread basket, and interesting cocktail list, we could tell this would be a nice meal. I appreciated the reusable straws that came with our cocktails, mine was stainless and my friend's was glass because they fit the drinks better that way. The menu is a nice mix of French (escargot, French onion soup) and Italian. We skipped the Cesar salad we were thinking of sharing because it's made the traditional way, with raw eggs. We'll try that when bird flu dies back lol! I had a delicious eggplant parmigiano, and selected the pappardelle side. The layers of eggplant were lightly breaded, the sauce was superb - and the pasta is clearly fresh/handmade. It was scrumptious!! Others around the table had linguine and clams and said the white sauce was marvelously buttery and well-seasoned; there were a good number of clams on the shell too. The pappardelle fra diavolo was spicy, with gorgeous chunks of eggplant, think spicy sauce (completely different sauce from my eggplant parm's btw) and subtle. All of us thought the food and service was top notch. The dessert tray brought to the table had 4 or 5 different options for us to choose from. While we passed on that a few of us did opt for a cappuccino. The coffee was perfect - even down to the subtle hit of browned sugar in the foam. I'm also sorry to leave this review. I don't want a crowd here when I come back for what I'm certain will be numerous dinners, orn to try out the brunch!

The place was empty, we arrived just an hour before closing on a Sunday, but we were seated at a cozy table and our server was attentive and great! We ordered a white sangria and a Mimosa. The sangria was a standout. For our meals we ordered: Eggs Benedict-Looked wonderful, eggs perfectly poached and nicely seasoned potatoes on the side The Brunch Burger-Wowee! It was huge and I mean one of the tallest, piled on burgers i've ever seen! Positive reports on that! The Avocado Toast-This was the only disappointment, but it was really disappointing. What appeared to be super market white bread, topped with a small bit of sliced avocado with a small arugula salad on the side. That was it!

I cut the outside off and ate it because I never send my food back and hadn't eaten all day. That being said, we told them just to offer feedback and they said that's how they serve the food. I was surprised because they have decent reviews. We were so looking forward to dining here. Out of 5 dishes, 4 of them were really bad. 3 dishes were steak and completely burnt tasting, and one had swordfish that arrived as two thin slices, not even 1/2 inch. Swordfish should be thick. At $49 for a steak, it should be cooked properly and taste like a steak, not like the place it's cooked. So, go for the appetizers, skip the main course unless you like burnt taste, and some people do.

The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating!
