The only reason that this place gets two stars instead of one is because I've been coming here for a little over a year, and have generally enjoyed the food and service. Today, though, was a different story. In addition to coming in for lunch and dinner, I also get a coffee once per week from them. If you are a member of their loyalty program, one of the perks is a .99 beverage once per week. I've always only paid .99, but today, I ordered my usual latte, and was charged $2.08. When I asked about the discrepancy, I was given different stories: first, I was told that "the prices went up, so did the .99 beverage. When I showed her the app on my phone, and that it states .99, and not $2.08, I was then given excuse no. 2, which was, "You ordered a hazelnut latte. So we have to add the syrup, which is another .99. I explained that I had been coming here for over a year, ordered lots of flavored lattes, and never paid more than .99. I was given a hostile glare by the cashier (brown hair dyed red; 5'5" tall; medium build; early 20s) before she replied, "Well, then I guess no one else has been charging you properly." So in the entire year or more that I've been coming here, dealing with 20 or more various employees, this cashier, who is new, by the way, is the only one who knows how to properly operate the cash register? There were other issues with this cashier: first, I asked if they had the brown sugar syrup, and she replied that they did not. I ordered a medium hazelnut latte only to be told afterwards that they did not, in fact, have the hazelnut syrup, but instead had the brown sugar syrup. Second, I had to repeat my phone number to her 3 times because she wasn't listening. Then, when she finally got into my account, she said, "You have a .99 beverage or a $5 off of $15. Which would you like to use?" Considering that the latte pre-discount is only $5, I'm not sure how she was planning on applying the $5 off of $15. Third, when she started making the latte, she gave me a small cup. When I pointed out that I had ordered a medium, she dumped the contents of the small into the medium and proceeded to make my drink. At this point, I asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation, and he seemed totally uninterested in hearing my point of view. He said, "So she switched the cups. What's the problem?" I said, "She switched the cups without changing the portions or adding anything to the medium cup. The portions between a medium and small latte are different. Are you saying you make the small and medium the exact same way?" He said, "Well, no, there's an extra shot of espresso in the medium." I replied, "And additional syrup, otherwise, it's not proportional to the size. It's too bitter." He was like "Do you want me to remake it for you?" I told him that I had to get to work, but was bringing it to his attention because he was the manager and is the one in charge and able to retrain his employees. He gave me a noncommittal answer, which let me know that he had no intention of doing anything. I think what is more concerning than anything else is the (lack of) customer service I experienced. The cashier was openly churlish, apathetic, and had the attitude, "You'll take what I give you." Well no, it doesn't work that way. If I place an order, I expect it to be right, and I expect you to be polite and professional about it. I don't expect to encounter and nasty, disrespectful individual with a sense of entitlement. If the cashier doesn't like her job, she should find another. read more

Great Location! Nothing like being able to enjoy some baked goods, coffee, or lunch outside. I dropped by here a few times while working in the area. Parking is easy, since there are lots of parking garages in the area. I also love the fact that they have the outdoor seating. Purchased a coffee one time and iced tea the next and sat outside with my book and laptop catching up on work. It can be quite loud i guess, but it's great for people watching and gazing at the cars driving by. Friendly staff and great location. I would come here more if I lived in the area. read more

I came here specifically because they offer "free Wifi" yet the connection kept failing and it was inadequate to allow me to complete my work - the main reason I came in today. As I sat for at least 30 min my small paper coffee cup started to split at the seam. Its like the paper cup was getting soggy. After I was given a replacement cup the same thing happened minutes later and this time it made a mess from the coffee that leaked out! After that happening two times in less than an hour I was baffled at how low quality these cups are. I've never seen this before and I drink coffee out of paper cups all the time. read more

I was very disturbed by my last visit where the male owner/ manager was snapping his fingers at the young female cashier to work faster. It was embarrassing for her and to watch. She was actually very helpful and pleasant. I left her a $20 tip on a $20 order to try to make up for his terrible behavior. We live locally and usually eat here twice a month. I have to share my experience this morning, since it was my second time here in person, I use corner bakery quite a bit for our breakfast and lunch meetings, the delivery person from here is always really friendly, this is the experience in person, last time I was sitting waiting for my coffee and muffin for about 10 minutes I asked what was taking so long, they then saw my order and said oh well get it, with out even an apology, not to mention the person I ordered from was not very friendly at the counter, This morning I walked in, I say good morning, no response back the young girl looks at me with a blank look, I said good morning again, she still doesn't answer, I then say ok, let me try the new cinnamon drink, she turns ask the girl next to her if they have a certain item the girl says no, she tells me we don't have all the ingredients for that, so I change my drink order, and ordered a toasted bagel, I pay and sit right in front of the counter at the couch they have there, Im waiting its now 10 minutes, the girl in front of me is cutting up some lemon cake in pieces she hears me stand up and looks at her coffee area then walks over to make my coffee, 10 minutes after I have ordered at this time, its only been me sitting there on the couch, I ask her what about the toasted bagel she turns around and ask the other girl about it, then says I have to wait I said its only a toasted bagel, she says there are other orders in front of you, I said just please give me the bagel and cream cheese Ill toast it in my office, booth young girls have no response to me, just grab the bagel and handed to me. I recently visited the Burbank location to place an order with catering a for a local school event. I was extremely disappointed when I learned that I could not use $175 worth of already purchased gift cards for my catering order. We have used corner bakery in the past for events at this local school and was very pleased and excited to use CB again. I'm having a hard time understanding why I could not use money that has already been spent at the business to purchase food. What is the point of gift cards if not to be honored? I feel like this left such a bad taste in my mouth that I no longer want to use your business to cater events at our local school. It's disappointing that you cannot serve the very community that would use your restaurant in the future. I would like a response as to why this is the policy. When I asked the manager of your store he could not give me a single reason as to why I could not use money that had already been spent for catering. This place is great! I was on my way to work at the airport looking for something to eat for breakfast. So many places say that they're open but really aren't, and it's hard to find a good place to eat for breakfast soo early on a sunday. I've actually never been here, didn't know that it was here in Burbank, or that they were open so early. Inside was super clean, the staff was extremely friendly, and my food which is pictured was so good! Honestly I was pleasantly surprised and this interaction with this restaurant everyone in it including its food has made my morning, and changed my day. Love this location... I've been a fan of Corner Bakery for some years now. It's a no-frills type chain with more than just baked goods. I've enjoyed everything that I've tried from Corner Bakery thus far! Here are a few of my favorites... Breakfast: pancakes and Anaheim scrambler & panini, Lunch: Chicken Pomodori panini, Desserts: ALL of the bundlet flavors! It's truly hard to find something you won't like here! Sign up for the coupons because they oftentimes email great coupons that make it even more affordable so you can try more new seasonal items! Turning in and out of the parking lot is a bit difficult as it is on the corner of two busy streets but I do appreciate there being free parking. Covid safety measures are in place. I typically wait about 10-15mins for my order to be ready, so plan ahead but at least you know the food is fresh! read more

Food is good, but not good enough to make up for the bad service. I've been to this location a few times and never had any problems, but this one particular experience really put me off. I'm disappointed because there are some menu items I love. I came in around lunch, so there were a few guests dining in and it looked like they were getting online orders, too. I placed my order for to-go and sat on their benches to wait for my order number to be called. While waiting, I noticed there were a few employees in the kitchen just standing around. You would think everyone would be moving during the lunch rush. About 15 minutes pass and other guests are getting their order. I'm right in front of the pick up counter, so I'm not worried that they forgot me and my small order of a small soup and half a sandwich. I should've been. I finally think it's ridiculous that I've been waiting so long for my order, so I stand up and catch the eye of an employee who looks like the manager. I tell him my order and turns out, they had placed it on the online order pick up tray; they hadn't even called out the order. The manager gives me my bag and doesn't even offer an explanation or apology. The whole experience just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I've been to several Corner Bakeries. The food & service has been pretty good. This particular trip, I had one of the most delicious salads I've ever had. It had the juiciest chicken breast, fresh blueberries & strawberries. Tangy blue cheese crumbles & sweet, crunchy candy pecans. I asked for Caesar dressing instead of the vinaigrette. I've always liked Corner Bakery. It has a somewhat distinct atmosphere and decor, including a catchy typeface and layout for its item descriptions, and more important than anything else, the food is pretty good. It hasn't dropped in quality over all the years that I've been a patron. --- I went there this month because my birthday is in this month, and they always send me an email around this time to tell me that I'll get a free sweet. And the selection of desserts is pretty big for a place that is not extremely large and in which bakery is not the major offering. The choices range from items that are really sweet and/or goopy, to those that are not too sweet and are not goopy at all. Whatever mood you're in, there will be some sweet goody that will be exactly what you want. --- Their "savory" items are mostly very good, and they don't taste the exact same as what you'll get at other eateries of a similar type. They concentrate on the standard 4 groups: sandwiches, pastas, salads, and soups. There are at least 3 choices (and maybe as many as a half-dozen or more) in each category. They offer a "Choose Two" feature in which you can get something in 2 of the 4 categories as a combo (though possibly with a smaller portion of each), which is an option that I like, and chose on this most recent visit. --- One of my favorite pasta selections is the Pesto Cavatappi, which uses a creamy pesto sauce instead of the original non-creamy pesto, and to me, that makes it great. It comes with grilled chicken, and it is real chicken, not the processed reformulated stuff. Also good is the Chicken Carbonara pasta. --- For the sandwiches, while most things about them are good, they (like virtually all other similar places) use processed reformulated turkey, not the real, untampered stuff. But I didn't let that bother me when I ate my one-half club sandwich. --- I have to dis-recommend one salad, though: the Caesar. I only like biting into leafy leafs of greens; I do not like biting into the hard white "ribs" of romaine lettuce leaves. The one time that I ordered it, it was about 50% "ribs", so it wasn't enjoyable; I wound up using my knife & fork to separate the soft green part from the rib of each piece. So I wish that Corner Bakery (and every other similar eatery) would tear the green part of romaine leaves away from the white rib and discard the ribs, and only use the supple green part for the salad. If they did this, I would be willing to order this item again. In the meantime, I'll stick with the other 3 categories. --- Leaving the main topic of food, I like the fact that the tables are not bolted to the floor, which is something that a lot of places do because of their apparent belief that everybody's body is skinny, even though it's well known that 40% of Americans' bodies are either overweight or obese. I appreciated the ability to move my table forward a bit so that I could sit comfortably. --- I will be happy to return anytime! read more

Let me begin with the person who took our order. I really felt uncomfortable and not welcomed to this restaurant. The person who took our order on last Tuesday day evening made us felt we were annoying her when I asked for suggestions. My husband ordered the pasta chicken Rosa pasta and I ordered tomato soup and a BBLT. Let me begin with my husbands pasta was cold and his play was hot and the same for my soup. My husband returned my soup and let them know it was room temperature, as I continued yo eat my husband was hungry and did not want to ask to heat up his food. As we continued to eat they never brought back my soup. We decided to leave and we went to the front and let the manager know what happened with our food, he looked at us and said sorry and did not offer a refund for not giving us our food. He did offer a pastry not at an equal price and I had to say something about how much the soup was at least compensate us for it. I can tell you we will never eat there again. Visited here with my boyfriend on a Saturday during COVID for breakfast. They do patio dining as well as takeout or delivery. They have plenty of parking right next to the cafe. The place was clean and you could see hand sanitizer wherever you turn your head to lol. Customer service was really good, it was our first time so they didn't rush us and actually helped us picking items. Food was really good as well. We ordered Chicken Pomodori Panini and Cheddar Broccoli Soup. With bottled orange juices (since they didn't have freshly squeezed) and a coke. And they gave you complimentary chips on the side. The panini's were really good, not too heavy nor too light. One of the best I've ever had. Definitely will be back. Thank you. read more

I have always liked the Corner Bakery. However, my opinion is changed, at least as to take out. I ordered a full size of the chopped salad. First, it is smaller than any half-size salad I've ever had there. But it isn't good, either, so I don't suppose it matters. The "grilled chicken" is wet sliced meat from a package. No doubt about that. Maybe the package from the grocery store section says it's grilled chicken, but it isn't. Also, the salad is mostly pale chopped tomatoes. I would take a photo but phone's too full. The salad is over $10. I think $4 would be a more appropriate price. Very disappointed. read more

Great service ! Came during breakfast time and it was busy here but still tables available. Was worried that they didn't have their pasta items since it's breakfast time but when I asked the cashier she said they do have them available. I'm also super happy the coupons worked. I signed up for their email and it's such a great deal! It wasn't first time using the coupon but basically 5.99 for any entree and you can use it more than once! It's awesome! Also when we ordered they provided cups for drinks as well, got the hibiscus lemonade, green tea and regular lemonade, free refills too! Great service and would definitely come back to this fine establishment . Cashier answered all my random questions and was very helpful, I forgot her name though. Very bubbly. Free parking available as well. First time exploring Burbank and it's conveniently close by the airport.
