First off, the food was delicious and would get 5 stars. We shared the crispy Brussels Sprouts, so good, the Manchego cheese is the perfect choice paired with the sprouts and bacon. The goat cheese bruschetta is amazing, and the filet mignon tacos are to die for, the perfect bite with the avocado and pickled onions. However, the service was really poor. Our waitress was very distracted, even while taking our order she didn't seem to really be paying attention to us (it was not very busy either). We asked for a refill on water and never got it, my son asked for a second glass of wine and never got that either. We had to ask for a box for our leftovers three times. We've been to Cork and Fork many times in the past and normally I'd give them a 4 or 5 star rating. Our visit this past weekend was very disappointing. The menu used to have a variety of choices of small plates for sharing but it seems as though the choices haven't been changed lately and the portions to share on some plates are smaller. Some of our favorite share plates are no longer on the menu. I think the straw that broke the camel's back was the 4% surcharge for using a credit card. We never use our ATM at restaurants and rarely carry cash. It's not like they kept the food prices low and then chose to charge the cc fee instead. We were told at the end of the meal about the credit card surcharge so that was a very unpleasant surprise. The patio is still a nice place to eat - service was good - inside was noisy. Just can't figure out why the 4% cost to use a cc and the menu needs some refreshing. Might not be back for awhile. read more

Have been here many times prior to pandemic and had exemplary experiences, but, unfortunately this time our experience was marred by our lack of greeting and dismissive attitude of staff at arrival for our reserved table. Arrived to restuarant with no hostess and could not get anyone's attention after calling out from inside the front door 10 times with increasing volume. Finally, frustrated, went around building to back entrance only to be told to go back to main entrance and wait. I understand that they were short staffed due to only have recently re-opened due to pandemic restrictions, but that does not excuse waiting 20 minutes out front with nowhere to properly sit or being offered anything to drink while we waited. That, in my opinion, would not have taken much effort. Watched staff pass by several times as they serviced tables on side of building without even acknowledging us in any way. To the meal: Service was good once seated, only problem with entrees was the Mango and Lobster Salad being served without tossing salad properly leaving all the dressing concentrated in one small area giving the impression that the salad was undressed once splitting, prompting me to request additional dressing only to discover the over-dressed area of the salad once the side was received. Other entrees; Poke Nachos and Mussels were perfect. Overall, a meh dining experience, sad given that just a little attention at arrival would have went a long way to a near perfect, and much less wordy, review. The ambiance is sterile with some of the chairs being uncovered metal. No shades on the windows so you may need to wear sunglasses depending on which way you face. Drinks are good, but expensive. Dishes are pretty tasty but small, as they say. Sous vive chicken was served on corn that matched it in color .. looked like glop. Servers were very nice. We are so so glad we found this place thanks to Yelp. Let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! Nice wine list and the atmosphere is casual but very nice. We started with the stuffed dates which were amazing, followed by the poke nachos that if they brought a 5 gallon tub of these nachos I would of managed to eat all of them! Hubby ordered the sliders and the meat was cooked to perfection with the sliders being juicy and seasoned just right. We shared the red velvet gelato which was also amazing. We will be back. We wanted to try someplace new and decided to try Cork & Fork, Indio. This restaurant was an exciting, lovely ambience vision offering inside and outside seating. We were immediately greeted and seated by a polite hostess. Table setting was tasteful--elegant dishes, glassware, gold silverware. Our server was most knowledgeable, professional, and personable. We ordered the Small Plates items along with the White Wine of the Day and a House Martini. Our server orchestrated our food choices so we really enjoyed our relaxing happy hour and experienced each and every small plate. I highly enjoyed Thai Shrimp Cakes, Ahi Sesame Poke Nachos, Local Date Plate, Marrakesh Meatballs. A Very Big shout out to the chef and kitchen staff for an amazing taste around the world! To top off our delightful meal, we ordered the Sorbet of the Day -- Raspberry! So creamy, flavorful and just the right sweetness to go with our freshly brewed pressed coffee! So impressed! Went for happy hour at 4pm and all the food, both regular and vegan menu was delicious. Happy hour wine was tasty and very reasonably priced. The only issue was cleanliness. They were concerned enough to limit bar seating to two pairs of two seats, yet our booth seat was littered with crumbs and the floor overall seemed to have not been cleaned from the night before. The issue we have with this restaurant is their policy of charging a fee to use a credit card. We are business owners and that fee is well above what they would be paying to the credit card company (ours was 4%). That is an exorbitant rate for a credit card processing fee for a vendor to be paying. Four diners and $250 bill, and it is just a bit insulting to add more. Was super excited to try this restaurant due to the high ratings and the raving reviews. We were able to make a dinner reservation on opentable and arrived promptly at our reservation time. While we waited to be seated we checked out the menu and was pretty much ready to order by the time we got seated. About 5 minutes after we ordered the watermelon gazpacho was brought to our table. Then the waiting game began. About half an hour later, we got our first hot dish. About 10 minutes after that our two other dishes arrived. We ordered the mushroom pizza, pork tacos of the day and the shrimp and grits dish (no longer on the menu). We don't understand why the tacos could not have came out sooner and there was no apology from the manager. I found their food to be heavily salted. We were too famished to complain to have our food taken back and remade. It would have been a nice gesture for the restaurant manager to apologize or offer us dessert for the long wait - but that was not the case. The menu sounds exciting, the presentation is great, but the food execution is just ok. Look at the picture I shot of the bruschetta. It's got lots of stuff in it, it looks great...but it's a kitchen sink of flavors. There's a heavy reliance on salt and oil/butter, the heavier flavors, not as much on fresh ingredients imparting a refreshing flavor - like a simple bruschetta with burrata and heirloom tomatoes would impart. I love salt, but everything was over salted. The butterscotch pot du creme didn't have a taste of salt like you'd want from something like salted caramel ice cream, it was an overwhelming salt taste without a warm, rich butterscotch flavor. The service was great - attentive but not overbearing or pushy. Really top notch. If you just want to snack, it's two $ signs ($$) as it's listed. But if you want a full meal and drinks, it's gonna cost you $50/person ($$$) because it's tapas (small plates). read more

Fresh off the plane on a Thursday night, four friends and I strolled into Cork & Fork in hopes of landing a good quality meal before what would inevitably be a weekend of culinary sins at Stagecoach. Roadblock: no reservation, and no seating available for the evening. We held our heads in shame. But what's this? The hostess strolled after us as we were getting into our car and let us know that they'd likely be able to sit the five of us at the bar if we could wait 20 minutes. No problem, and I couldn't be happier that we waited it out. What a meal. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Cork & Fork absolutely knock it out of the park with respect to both service and atmosphere. Quaint and comfortable, there's a classy vibe that's combo'd with a rockstar bar staff. We were told ahead of time that our substantial food order would likely back up the kitchen for 20 minutes or so, but we were happy to pass the time with small plates and a great selection of fantastic wines and beers. Fantastic. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Reasonable across the board, which was a pleasant surprise considering what Cork & Fork could probably get away with charging the typically affluent clientele. My dual beef sliders came in at $11.00, which was more than reasonable considering a food truck in Dallas will charge me $4.00 a pop. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Each and every one of the dishes enjoyed by my party were very, very good. While a bit on the salty side, my sliders were packed with both flavor and quality ingredients, and combo'ing them with the top notch dipping sauces that came with our sweet potato fries turned out to be a wise choice. The salad? Excellent. The nachos? A great starter. Looking back on a fantastic weekend in it's entirety, my group of friends have all been quick to point out our meal at Cork & Fork. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I don't know the La Quinta / Palm Springs area well, but I now fully understand why Cork & Fork was absolutely packed on a Thursday night in April. It should come as no surprise that I, being a young woman, love to go to tapas/small plate style restaurants. Since the restaurant is in La Quinta, it's appropriate for me to say that Cork & Fork is the gem of the desert. (Get it, LQ residents? Ha! That's the city's slogan, too!) One plate you need to know: dates. First, they are renowned desert fare; plus, they involve the world's most perfect dehydrated fruit AND strong cheese. I've always enjoyed the shishito peppers; I'll eat anything goat cheese (looking at you, bruschetta); and lord, I love bread pudding. There's never been a bread pudding I didn't like. (PS: There's been one that brought me to tears -- please visit Rock 'n Fish in Manhattan Beach, CA, to get the feels.) A couple times, I've gotten beer to accompany my food, but here's my official recommendation: stick to wine here. It's just the right thing to do. read more

For food, we shared a total of three items: Farmer's Market salad, Mozza pizza and "must try" Mac and Cheese, which was chipotle that day. All delicious. Not a ton of food, but it worked for us. Only downside is that while it wasn't what I would consider to be "expensive," it was a bit pricey. For my wife and me, our total for the experience was $95 plus tip. Would definitely do again. What a great surprise! The small restaurant is stylish and comfortable. The small-plates menu was just what I enjoy. There were some good takes on traditional fare as well as a few creative dishes. My table shared a cheese plate. It's hard to go wrong with Humboldt fog and Pt. Reyes blue, in my opinion. The manchego and whipped honey with truffle rounded out a delicious plate. Umami noodles were strong on flavor, with lots of mushroom. The soup was pozole, with chicken broth, pork, and hominy. It wasn't the same pozole you'll get at a taqueria on weekends, but it was good nonetheless. Standouts were the turkey meatloaf, which was more like a giant turkey meatball stuffed with Gruyere and covered in a delicious demi glace. Served on creamy polenta, it was delicious and quite rich. The California pizza, with bacon, dates, and goat cheese, was also excellent. The crust was just right. Sausage risotto was also rich and delicious. The wines were all good. A fume blanc was really good, I loved my pinot Noir. They have enough wines by the glass that you can try a few things--there are even a few available as 3oz pours. I can't wait to return. read more

Boy and I finally got around to trying this place and during dinner, we couldn't stop berating each other for not going sooner! The ambience of the interior is very nice with a beautiful bar and lighting. Service was spot on. For dinner, I had the white wine flight which was generous and very tasty. Boy and I decided to follow their concept of sharing small plates and ordered 4 with 2 desserts. Mushroom Risotto: delicious variety of mushrooms in a cheesy risotto with a hint of truffle. This dish was so good with a hefty serving. Shrimp Tacos: corn tortillas filled with shrimp, yummy sauce, roasted tomatoes and micro greens. Hello. Divine. Filet Tacos: corn tortillas filled with filet, yummy sauce, pickled onions, avocado. Hello. Divine again. Grown Up Grilled Cheese: grilled cheese sandwich filled with short rib, tomato jam, topped with arugula. Definitely grown-up. Definitely delicious. Brownie Sundae: brownie topped with salted caramel gelato, walnuts, choco sauce. Boy loved this. Butterscotch Pot du Creme w/ Bacon: with creme fraiche and maldon flake sea salt. Not like I had room. We stopped by to test the food during their Happy Hour. The waitress was rude and not helpful. We ordered the white wine of the day and it was pathetic considering this is a wine bar, no bouquet, dry and tasteless. The waitress said it was a white blend. Really? We tried the date dish which was good at $9 for six dates. The pizza was their Happy Hour special. I have had better from the supermarket. And many restaurants offer pizza as identical to the main menu but with a reduced charge. Not here. We are glad we tried this place out during their Happy Hour. It says a lot about how to they treat potential new customers. Fortunately, there are many better places to enjoy good eats at a value eg, Stuft Pizza, Enzo's, Mama Ginas, the Cliff House, The Nest, even Lavender's Bistro,Yard House, and more. We will not return to the Cork and Fork until they change their attitude which I doubt will happen. read more
