Came back to Cliffhouse and received excellent service from Susie. I made reservations for when they opened and I recommend this as this place does get busy, especially during the happy hour time. Happy Hour is 3:30-6 and there's a few dollar discount on selected food items and drinks. For appetizers, we ordered the Burrata platter and the dates. We also ordered a date burger and the following martinis: pear, pink lady, and espresso martini. This was my first time trying an espresso martini (ever) and I'm glad I waited until the end of dinner before ordering it. It's more a dessert or finishing drink. The Burrata platter was delicious and beautifully presented. The dates were good but too sweet for our tastes (yes, we are aware dates are naturally sweet, LOL). We only ate a few and saved the rest for later. The date burger and fries were delicious. The only downside was I asked for the burger to be cooked medium and it was well done. The drinks were good and beautifully presented. The ambiance and atmosphere, for this restaurant, is very upscale and unique. I will continue visiting each time I'm in La Quinta. Wonderful service and attention to detail! Make a reservation especially if celebrating a special occasion. We got a nice table next to the waterfall. Incredible pork ribs - melt in your mouth and super flavorful. The seafood ceviche was also surprisingly yummy - the sauce they created was perfect and the best part!! The food was fantastic, they especially loved the squash, the fries, and their entrées. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The ambience was warm, welcoming, and perfect for a night out. It felt special without being pretentious, which they really appreciated. The staff made the evening outstanding. The two waitresses who helped them were friendly, attentive, and thoughtful, and the maître d' made sure they felt completely taken care of. As two hardworking moms who both have full-time jobs and don't get out nearly as often as they should, this was exactly the kind of night they needed. It was truly perfect for them. Beautiful atmosphere and setting. We were so excited when we arrived. Food was just so so. Steak and fish were mediocre quality and steak was actually chewy. Think this is probably a better happy hour spot for a sandwich than the fine dining - that would be a more fun night out. read more

We dropped in for appetizers and drinks only. The $24 scallops were literally bay scallops. 1 bay scallops smothered in cheese baked so hard it was inedible. The scallops were tiny. Prawns were large but tough and not deveined thoroughly. Service was so so. Had to ask for second drink.. waiter had too many people to take care of. This was my first time here I went with co workers and we had such a lovely time. We all dressed casual we were worried about the dress code but a lot of other customers were pretty relaxed as well. The service was phenomenal. I didn't take a picture of the Peruvian ceviche but it was so flavorful and amazing, I think it has to be the best ceviche I have ever had beats the Mexican one I'm used to eating. As for the food I had sugar spiced salmon that was so delicious. The black bean sauce they pour on top of the food was so good it paired so well with everything. The potatoes were so creamy and good, I really liked the wonton crust that is around the potatoes was so good as well. I loved everything I ate that night. It's such a beautiful place. Stopped to check it out for dinner later on in our stay but ended up staying on and ordering up two very fresh tequila drinks (watermelon margarita and tequila old fashion), asparagus & leek soup, roasted red pepper hummus. My husband's steak was so over cooked it was like shoe leather and everything on the plate was over salted, Not edible. My dish was a Pocky Bowl and it was horrible tasting too. They replaced the steak dish with ceviche and it was so sour we couldn't eat it. Chips were stale and drinks were watered down. We were so disappointed and upset how bad the food was I spoke to the manager and hope he told the owner. Now thinking about how bad the food was I should have asked for a Refund. I think that's the nicest seating option. Charming. The place does have a somewhat sterile vibe, feels a bit like a Disneyland restaurant. It's massive with many dining rooms. I like that they incorporated some of the natural environment into the build. We had dinner at the bar. Mixed experience with the meal and the service. Bartenders were only slightly attentive and it wasn't crazy crowded. They offer a $27 two course sunset meal menu. Some decent options. I had the Caesar and the short rib. Was all fine although if I returned I'd order the full size Caesar. The salad was the best thing about the visit along with the beautiful light at dusk. They have a really nice water feature that is captivating when you walk in. Once you walk in, they have a very nice outdoor area. If you're eating at this restaurant, that's where you want to be sitting. We sat at the bar to enjoy drinks and their late night happy hour. We decided to order the mussels and were very surprised when they came out. There were 12 mussels in a pot way too big for them. For the price of $25, we expected more. It was quite disappointing.
