DRINKS AND APPETIZER ONLY! We were visiting family down the street, so we popped in for a drink. The look and the feel of the Grapefruit Basil restaurant did not feel like other Tommy Bhammas. It did not have that vibe. Plus, the drink menu is not the same as Tommy Bahammas as well- while reviewing the menu I noticed a couple of similar drinks such as the grapefruit basil, so I decided to order a familiar drink. Unfortunately, this drink was not as good as the one that I had the night before-- I could not taste the alcohol, it just tasked like grapefruit- I was sad, as this is like my go to drink. To compliment out drinks, we had the salsa guac appetizer that we are very familiar with from the Tommy Bhamma restaurant. The appetizer was good, and like I remember from their restaurants. So how was the atmosphere-- we just popped down at the bar. The bar felt like we were at a hospital. Very white and blah. If it was a cooler night, the outdoor space might have been nicer. They do have a bar and seating outside. As it was still in the 100s, we did not have that option. The bar was a bit distasteful with off conversations- we don't mind a party vibe, but the vibe was not that kind of environment. Lastly, this restaurant/bar does not use the tommy Bahamas membership program so you cannot accumulate points or use your credits. We informed the staff, but they did not seem to care. When the server finally came, he brought our appetizer about 15 minutes later, but did not provide any utensils. This restaurant is located inside the Tommy Bahama hotel, and we were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is spacious with cute decor and tons of natural light. The service was also great and very attentive. We went for breakfast, but I decided to try the bacon burger and OMG, it was SO good and super filling! Everyone else ordered a variety of breakfast dishes and really enjoyed their food as well. I honestly didn't expect much from a hotel restaurant, but this is definitely worth checking out! read more

Delicious food, great portions. I recommend making a reservation before since during busy times there is a longer wait. The staff is phenomenal, especially when dinning with kids! We enjoyed having brunch here and doing late night desserts. The menu does not disappoint and there is something for everyone. Our only suggestion would be to consider adding overhead fans in the outdoor dining area. They would help keep mosquitoes and flies away and would elevate an already wonderful dining experience, especially during the warmer evenings. I wanted to like this place, but after three visits during our hotel stay, the experience was consistently disappointing. We gave it multiple chances and ran into the same issues each time. The service was inattentive across all three visits. Basic things like cream and sugar for coffee and salt and pepper were never offered. We had to ask every single time, which starts to feel frustrating when it keeps happening. It really comes down to anticipating guest needs, and that just was not there. The food itself was also underwhelming. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it lacked flavor, and the egg had a lot of uncooked egg whites inside which made it pretty unappetizing. On another morning, we actually found a dead fly in our breakfast, which was a big turn off. The patio has a noticeable fly issue. Flies were constantly landing on our food and arms while we were trying to eat. There are fly deterrent fans available, but they are not brought out unless you specifically ask. At this point, it seems like something that should automatically be offered to every table outside. Overall, the experience just felt like a lack of attention to detail, both in service and in maintaining a comfortable dining environment. SHORT ANSWER: Just a maybe. Our first visit and we had very high expectations as the El Paseo and other TB location are always excellent and we've visited several of them many times., they are fun! Grapefruit Basil, I made reservations a day ahead for our anniversary and noted occasion as ANNIVERSARY, I'd asked in the reservation for a chilled bottle of a champagne be at our table when we were seated assumed they contact me about selection they had my data. Day of reservation I reached out again and asked them to call me, zero response. These are slower days, not many people there so a simple request blown off. When we checked in for our dinner reservation I asked if they received my messages and was greeted with, no, I did something wrong... love that. I did nothing wrong, the data is still in Open Table but somehow management seems not to care, why are there questions if there is no system to support guests requests? LOCATION: Wow, location just does not get much better, amazing mountain views and lots of parking. From the exterior it is all very beautiful. FACILITY: Surprised by how hotel the vibe was, yes it is a resort but just so so inside, never got a Tommy Bahama fun vibe still seemed like Miramonte. At our dinner table we looked at missing tiles on the Bocce court, looks like they'd been missing for a while, seems run down, you can't have that on a property like this. MENU: For the bar menu it was very good and reasonable for locals to hang out and enjoy Happy Hour, yet it did not feel much like a fun resort. Dinner menu was very nice, not too many options but good enough so most anyone to find something. FOOD PREP: It was okay, maybe a bad day for us to visit during the gap days in the Coachella festival. Prep on my wife's Spaghetti Squash was rather unappetizing but the Mary's Free Range Chicken was better. FOOD QUALITY: Sorry, not impressed, Chicken was very dry but it looked good so it got a pass. Spaghetti Squash I guess was good enough, or there were no complaints but it looked gross. LIBATIONS: Very food, all presentations professionally done at the bar and at the table. Smoke & Ice was a great sipper drink. WAITSTAFF: Aside from the greeters, everyone was very nice and our waitress was the most positive part of our visit. OVERALL VALUE: It was just ok, $30 at the bar, dinner $100 plus $25 tip so maybe that is what they are going for, ok. The drunk people yelling at the pool area, the lack of care for our reservation, differed maintenance issues, and food that was ok made me feel we chose a discount resort not something that is worthy of the Tommy Bahama brand, I am very sorry to have to say that. TIP: There are many places nearby that do represent a great resort or outdoor dining experience, we won't be back unless management makes some significant changes. read more

I would really like to give this review 3.5 stars. I think if you're staying at the resort it's a four star place. But if you're just in town and looking for a dinner spot it's a three star place. I was there for a large group outing. They were able to accommodate our 12 person party but we did have to split into two groups of six which was fine. The service itself was good. The restaurant was very busy and we didn't feel like we were waiting a long time for anything. All of the food came out correctly which was a pleasant surprise. The drinks were good and they had a decent selection of alcohols. The stars of the meal were actually the appetizers. We started with the bread that came with butter and a little honey drizzle. We also got the tuna poke which was fresh. What I absolutely loved was the beet salad with walnuts. It was just fantastic. From conversations between tables the sentiment for the main courses were similar. A complete lack of flavor and seasoning. I had the short rib dinner. Cooked very well with fork tender meat over mashed potatoes in a reduction sauce. The sauce was so bland it could've been water. For a reduction I think they reduced all of the flavor from it. Someone had the filet and said it needed seasoning. Someone at the other table had the short rib and said the same thing. The presentations were good the execution was just a little bit off. read more

Rented a cabana at Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort/Spa in Indian Wells. The cabana was spacious, had a refrigerator, and had reserved lounge chairs. The service provided by Derick, Elvia, and Danny was outstanding. The food options were good and what we ordered was tasty and generous in serving amount. The three of us went for the first time and we wanted to go to happy hour first. Grapefruit basil opens at five so happy hour is in the bar. We had really good mai tai's with a quesadilla first until grapefruit basil opened at five. Our server, Josie, was so welcoming and explained everything. She never tried to pressure us and she was so sweet and patient. We enjoy the cocktails and everything we ordered except maybe the clams to start. It was pretty skimpy and could use a little more flavor, but we will definitely be back because the service the atmosphere and the food was better than we thought it would be. Stayed here about two weekends ago for a work event at the Tommy Bahamas resort. Ordered exclusively from here the entire weekend. The food was always delicious. Of all the food I tried, I would recommend grapefruit for breakfast, beets salad for lunch, and the fish tacos for dinner. Feeling snacky? Go for the cheese and hummus dip. They also make their chips in house so it wasn't overly salty or oily. I had the chip and dip at least once a day while I was staying at the resort. At the spa, I ordered double cheese dip. No regrets. The only drawback is they use the same kitchen for the restaurant and the pool/spa. The food sometimes took almost an hour, especially sit down. While I was in the spa, it took 45 mins for my tacos, chip, and dip. The runner apologized but i had to inhale the food before my treatment. That wasn't so lovely or relaxing. (To be fair, there was a conference and a wedding party the same weekend. This is the only place to get food on the resort.) Otherwise, food is overall 10/10. We stayed with Tommy Bahama hotel and this looks like a decent brunch option on a Sunday morning. So we decided to give a try by brining the family and friend here. We ordered Three eggs omelette and the Dungeness crab cake Benedict. Both are very delicious and coming with great presentation! The only thing to nitpick is the speed of service. It took us forever to be seated while the resultant was half empty, and then took forever to order drink and food, and finally took long for the food to be one the table. We had a brunch reservation for Black Friday. When we arrived they were getting the table ready, but we were quickly seated. They sat us at a table that was right outside the main dining area, so it was technically outside but still close to the inside which was nice! It's right next to the hotel pool but it wasn't loud or disruptive. We needed a few high chairs which they brought, but I had to ask for kids menus separately. The kid's menu had a hamburger, cheeseburger, cheese or pepperoni pizza, and something else. When we went to order, my husband wanted to order the cheeseburger and I wanted to order the cheese pizza for my son. After we ordered them both she said oh you know what we don't have any hamburger or flatbread, so we can't do any type of burger or pizza. Essentially what that meant was that there were basically no kids menu options available. I ended up ordered them pancakes off the regular menu and my husband had to reconsider what he wanted. We started with the hummus and whipped feta which was delish, but didn't come with a lot of pita. We ordered more pita and they said no problem, but of course they charged us for it when the bill came which seemed a little ridiculous. My husband and dad ordered the thai noodle salad and both loved it! I ordered a bloody mary - which was delish - and the shrimp and crab louie. There were definitely pieces of crab shell in the crab which was a bummer. The kids LOVED the pancakes with the blueberry compote. I'm not sure if we will be rushing back, but I would probably go again sometime. read more

First off the property here is beautiful. The restaurant opens up to the courtyard of the resort and it's a gorgeous setting. The food was okay. Everything tasted as you would expect at the Tommy Bahama resort. Flavors were all on the sweeter side so if that's something you like then it would probably be enjoyable for you. I found the flavors to all be good for one bite. I had the short rib and the meat was cooked well but I got very sick of the flavors very quickly. I also tried the halibut and thought that actually was nicer than the short rib. The flavors were a little bit milder so not necessarily something you get sick of as quickly. I actually enjoyed the lobster chowder and would recommend that. Service was also just...okay. They were very nice but super disorganized. They took our orders in a weird order...even gave us our utensils in a weird order. Food took forever and so did the check at the end of the night. What a special place! We were lucky enough to be seated in Elijah's section of tables. The focaccia bread appetizers with the honey butter is not to be missed! Cocktails were in point. Cool little restaurants situated in the hotel has a very nice view with great service, but the food is mediocre at best. The Burratta toast was old and refrigerated. Probably sitting anywhere from 6 to 12 hours, skirt steak tacos were good could've used either a little crème fraîche or sour cream on the side we were given the wrong salad and then later received the Asian noodle salad, which was very mushy. This restaurant was on the Tommy Bahama Miramonte property where we stayed for a weekend girls trip. Grapefruit Basil was our go-to stop to grab brunch and a cocktail. We also did dinner here one night. The food was delicious and creatively presented. Especially liked their rendition of a traditional blue fin poke bowl. They had a good selection of local and imported wines, our group mostly tried the reds. They also had a selection of cocktails and zero proof drinks, which we enjoyed with brunch and they didn't skimp on the alcohol in their namesake cocktail. The side salads were delicate with arugula served with a light garlic oil dressing. We also enjoyed their dinner menu with the highlights being the macadamia crusted halibut and the beet salad.
