As I was trying this place for the first time I was overwhelming overcome with sensory emotion. The food the chef creates is a culinary art experience. Highly.... highly recommend. This isn't taught or learned. It's in her DNA making the future and our beautiful valley a better place. On top of that the owner/chef had personally taken a lot of time (after hours) to address some odd service we had at a diff location (which also exemplifies outstanding culinary design). This I am writing to express my disappointment following my recent visit to what was described as an extension of Chulas, a place we frequent and appreciate. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet our expectations. The French toast we ordered was not impressive, and to add to our frustration, they were out of another dish we wanted. Additionally, they ran out of toppings to complete the meal. We ultimately settled for a simple breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and bacon, which included fruit; however, some of the food appeared spoiled. To compensate, we were told we could choose two free pastries--something it seemed like they offered regularly since another guest also received free pastries. Even so, this was not enough to make up for the overall poor experience. The service declined further towards the end of our meal. After we had finished brunch, we were asked questions that seemed out of place. The establishment feels more like a café than a full-service kitchen, as evidenced by their inability to prepare eggs cooked over medium, insisting only scrambled eggs were possible. I have rarely encountered a restaurant unable or unwilling to meet such a basic request. Given this experience, I do not plan to return. I hope you take this feedback seriously to improve service and food quality going forward. read more

This café had been on my must-visit list, and I'm so glad I finally stopped by! I had brunch with a friend, and we both ordered the avocado toast, I added bacon to mine. The toast had a perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the subtle sweetness of the bread paired really well with the avocado and bacon. I also had the vanilla matcha, which was light and enjoyable. The café is small but beautifully decorated with cute, girly vibes and plenty of Instagram-worthy spots. Our server was incredibly kind and never made us feel rushed, even though we stayed a few minutes past closing. The Blushing Peony is the sister restaurant to Chula in La Quinta which I haven't been to. Blushing Peony is a cute brunch spot serving up delicious dishes and pastries. We split the bacon orange dates with mascarpone which were to die for. The burrata apple salad was a perfect fall salad. It has crispy prosciutto, candied pecans, arugula and apples which had been seasoned with a nice warm spice mix. We also shared the chicken BLT. This was a lot of food for two but we left full and happy. They are a wine bar as well and have wine dinners from time to time. I definitely recommend this spot for brunch or lunch. Check their Health Department coverage in The Desert Sun. They're still considered Chulita's by HD even though they changed their name. It's the same place, and they were just cited because they've been cooking hot food in a space only designed to make coffee and nothing was being properly handled. I had the worst brunch of my life here back in March, and I was ecstatic to see their citation. I hope they close forever. This is a wonderful restaurant! The food was delicious and the atmosphere is so nice for single dining, a mini lunch date or a get-together with friends. We had the Orange Bacon Dates and they were so good. Having orange and bacon on them is an added bonus! We also had the Manchego Potato Croquettes. So good! The red chile broth and sweet pepper aioli that came with them was bursting in flavor. It was served with a perfect bread to soak up any extra of those great sauces. Yikes! What potential fallen short. Sat down, 15 mins for menus. (Less than half the tables were filled, so not sure where the bottleneck happened as there were 3 staff members milling around. 25 minutes before drinks were taken. Another 20 minutes for them to arrive.d One of our items were completely forgotten and never arrived, plates were cleared before items were finished. Seems like maybe it had only soft launched as a lot of issues just weren't worked out yet. Deviled eggs were ok, bacon dates were ok. Didn't realize it was possible to mess up avocado toast but it happened. I can't imagine what would happen if more tables were full and they were nearing capacity... :( read more

I had brunch here some time back and the ambiance is cute and I like the creativity of the dishes they are selling. But my big issue here is that they're serving food they are unauthorized to serve by the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health. They originally were called Chulitas but renamed their restaurant, I believe because they couldn't pass health inspections, and never updated this change with the health department. In early July, they were given a C grade (disgusting!) and forced to close their doors. Nobody knows that this deceivingly cute restaurant has a C grade because they changed their name. The owner of this establishment is an absolute SCAMMER! They are still unauthorized to serve cooked food here because of their inability to do it right, but they are seemingly doing it anyway. This place is so stinking cute. I had a cold so got two different pressed juices and ate a little of the brioche French toast which was freaking fabulous. My family all really liked their dishes. They had the salmon lox, turkey sandwich, basic breakfast, and a few other things. I would like to return when I'm feeling better so I can eat some of the things on the menu but everything was great and the outdoor seating was cool and adorable. The staff were great too. read more

They have delicious ice tea. However I have to you mention both times, once I requested modification on my dish, it was not encouraged but they did it because I told them it's not to my taste. The second time I ordered turkey club, server returned to tell me they don't have turkey ready yet. I appreciate that everything is made fresh but it should be available. The Blushing Peony is a wonderful "little gem" with an amazing menu created by Chef Katherine Gonzales and it is obvious she takes pride in making all the dishes both fresh and creative. Went to Palm Springs last weekend with my peeps. What a spectacular find! I felt like we were in Europe. We both ordered the Aperol Spritzer (which has sparkling wine). My mistake I didn't read ingredients I was exhausted from the drive. I am allergic to wine. Needless to say I had a reaction. Kind of funny though... being I am a real living I Love Lucy! We also, both ordered the grilled peach+burrata. It was stupendous!! I wanted more but had to rush next door to get a loaf of gluten free bread to absorb the wine.
