Always a great visit. We drive about an hour just to eat here and its worth it every time. Staff is always great to us. Food is always delicious. The Macadamia nut crusted halibut is a treasure on the menu. Like nothing else I've ever had! So delicious.

Great food, generous portions; however can get busy and thus might have slow service! Prices reasonable. The crowd is a lot of elderly people with not much diversity lol. Lots of tennis playing on the screens during Indian Wells. Server was very nice but again just took a while to order because they were busy. I had the French dip - the au jus was especially delicious. Overall we enjoyed our time and really enjoyed our food! The mixed drinks were strong too!

I love prime rib, so while in the desert doing some work, I decided to stop in for some delicious and perfectly cooked prime rib, again. This is the second time I have visited here, this time on Halloween night. The service here is always friendly and competent. The prime rib is as perfect as it gets. The attached pictures are of my food and my friend's food. This prime rib and fixings is $55 and weighs between 12-14 oz which I find to be a great price for the quality. If you like golf memorabilia, the place is decorated with loads of moments from golf and Bob Hope. I don't quite get it, but I was there for the food and the smiles from the servers and hostess. RUN, don't walk to Cactus Jack's! You won't be sorry.

Finally found a parking spot, it took years

YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes, a lot of fun. For good reason, I've only been here once over the years but finally made it and had a good time on this visit. Get there at 11am or 2 pm for lunch it gets busy. LOCATION: Easy to find off the 111, parking can be a challenge and that is why I have not been here. It can be a slammed drunken traffic demolition derby looking parking situation, so pick your times. FACILITY: About what I expected, serious local patina, dark space but it has a very lived in feeling which is great for this semi locals hangout. MENU: Awesome menu, lots of choices so you will find something you like. FOOD PREP: It was acceptable but nothing fancy, even for a $20 French Dip sandwich but again, it was about what I expected. However the avocado salad with tuna was great, excellent prep. Go with a salad. FOOD QUALITY: As for my French Dip it was less than impressive, meat was a little dry but it was just okay and I ate half and shared the rest but had a great side of a cold pasta salad. As for the Avocado Salad it was really refreshing on a 116 degree day, very fresh, but humongous. 1/2 order available for like $15.00. LIBATIONS: I think they know how to mix a drink here. Uber I always a good option. WAITSTAFF: Could not be nicer, the person who helped us took time to chat and laughed as to why we have never visited, too full of a parking lot and she says she hears that several times a week. We have a home in La Quinta so not super close and not worth the chaos that it appears to have going on at time. OVERALL VALUE: Not great but about normal for this area, all great people and the food was good so you get what you pay for. TIP: Decide where you want to sit, in the bar is loud, dining area is quieter, and the outdoor space is seasonally great. You have options, know in advance as the seating pace is rapid. Parking, if you see open spots or street parking then it is a good time to visit.

Cactus Jacks is an old standby when you come to the Coachella Valley. They are located in a very convenient area Palm Desert. Can't go wrong with anything on their menu they have plenty of TVs available so you can enjoy your favorite game with your favorite meal. We had a phenomenal salad there and also the burgers were very good. The service at Cactus Jack's is also very good even though they sometimes get crowded they seem to handle everybody. Nice low-key atmosphere don't have to get overdressed to enjoy your meal at Cactus Jack's.

Delicious tapioca pudding for dessert

I've been wanting to stop here for quite some time. It's always so busy that I've driven on. Tonight it was still busy at 8 o'clock on a Thursday, but there were a few tables available and I was able to get right in. It's a nice kind of old school restaurant with lots of Palm Springs golf pictures all around the room. My waitress, Michele, and Bus boy Ricardo, we're very friendly, professional, and attentive. I had the petite prime rib with a baked potato. It also comes with a salad, reasonable price, huge portion and very tasty. Or dessert I had tapioca pudding, which is very hard to find at restaurants anymore, and this one was a big portion and delicious In short, I strongly recommend cactus Jack. I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

Went back again for my sons birthday. I ordered the special of the day, rib eye steak with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes. Ordered the steak medium rare and it was delicious! My son ordered the prime rib, medium and it was great! Great place, the service was excellent, our server was awesome!

How is the prime rib?

The prime rib is excellent! Very tender and tasty!

Do you have happy hour? And if yes what days and times? Is there a happy hour menu that you can share?

No happy hour here. Bar food menu available (along with/dining room menu) on bar side of restaurant from 3 to close.

I have a gluten allergy, do they have any gluten free items? Please do not answer "yes they have salad" I am not a rabbit, I prefer real food!

They have steaks, seafood, chicken prepared without gluten and you have a choice of sides. Lots of potato options. We brought our gluten free niece twice and she had plenty of options.

Can you bring your own wine?

Yes, $20 corkage fee.

Was Cactus Jacks previously Bashs?

It was Bashes also!

OVERALL VALUE: Good, but it is Palm Springs, outdoors, great locations, classy.. no, not inexpensive but well worth it. TIP: I'd say be nice, be patient, and you will get a table. Don't be an angry rude touron, we don't need that vibe and we see some of that in PS.. You can try for reservations, not sure if they take off season.

I wanted to let some time pass, get through the holiday season and in an effort think some on how I might have made awful better. Having just moved I did not want to cook this Thanksgiving. I made reservations at "The Nest" a few weeks ahead of Thanksgiving I had read a number of reviews here on Yelp. I knew going in they had a lively bar scene with live music. We walk in exactly on time. It's so loud it's hard to speak with the hostess. (I'm a Boomer, a child of the 60's no stranger to, nor bothered by loud music) The dining area is separate from the bar so it should be no problem to be seated in a spot that allowed for dinner conversation. I asked the hostess if they did have a spot that was on the quieter side, she said no problem if we could wait a bit. Here is where things went off the rails. We were led to a table that was in a corner and directly under a speaker with the live music as loud as the bar area. Just to make it 'fun' about a 1/4 of the table against the wall had a slope of about 10 or so degrees. There was an older, thick flat screen on the wall so the person across from me kept hitting her head on it. But let's go to the important part the food. Each of us ordered the Thanksgiving Special, turkey dinner. Which was not only the worst turkey dinner I'ver even had but was the absolute worst meal I've ever been served ever, anywhere... including but not limited to fast food. I am left to assume my asking if we could be seated in a quieter spot pissed off the entire restaurant staff from hostess to kitchen staff Starting with the turkey itself, it was a small pile of shredded dark meat, two of us had shards of bone. Mashed potatoes? It was a small ice cream scoop amount (think school cafeteria service) of hard, cold instant like mix. A table spoon worth of some sort of liquid passing for 'gravy'. The rest was of equal 'quality' Two of us left the majority of the food on the plate. Oh and the pie.... Yeah about the same as the rest. I'm not even going to bother about the level of 'service,' I'll just say it was slightly better than food, cold and only indifferent. And now the part that just left us in awe of the whole thing. The section we were seated in was nearly empty by the time we were done, trying get find a member of the staff to bring us the damn check so we could just get out of there. And here comes a couple in their 20's having a domestic dispute, fortunately that calmed down and they left the area. And then here walks through the dining area a clown.... Yes you read that right a clown, in full clown makeup and outfit. An actual clown. No rhyme nor reason, just sauntering through. And as if this was normal and not at all bizarre. There is some sort of 'selfie' device in a corner. And along come two 'ladies' clearly intoxicated, to pose in front of it acting the fools only alcohol can induce and this obnoxious 'show' went on far too long. Just to add insult to injury the check finally comes with a mandatory 20% "large party" (of four?) gratuity. To be fair since it was a holiday would have left at least that amount normally. I appreciate those who work holidays, giving up family time to serve others. I've worked my share of holidays. I was ashamed and embarrassed, about the whole mess.

It clearly caters to a sophisticated crowd--very similar in vibe to their Calabasas location. While parking is accessible in the rear, it can get congested during peak season. The menu is extensive with plenty of excellent selections, though the pricing is definitely premium. For instance, a Cobb salad topped with fish can easily exceed $45; while the quality is high, that's a significant jump over nearby staples like Daily Grill. Service was friendly but lacked consistency; our server disappeared mid-meal without a hand-off, requiring us to flag down other staff. Overall, it's a bright, airy, and stylish spot well worth a visit, provided you're prepared for the 'luxury' price point.

Lively, diverse, energized full of bright faces that bring light to the dimly lit space. Service was stellar - attentive, on it, anticipated needs/preferences before they were even addressed. A quick anecdote, the waitress made PROACTIVE decisions knowing I am Vegan, not just reactive - a rare thing outside of high dining restaurant. Red wine flight included a fantastic Cab & Cab Reserve, and a "very good" Pinot...and that's coming from a person who does not drink Pinot. I didn't care for the blend but then again I never care for a blend as it is. Food was "American" style tapas - small plates of well crafted foods ranging from flatbread pizza to meatballs to vege pockets and (for me) a "Vegan Stack" composed of rice, mango, avocado, and a delicious spicy mayo. Tiramisu dessert disappeared in all of 20 seconds, well plated and beautifully crafted.
