Kiki's Sala: salanova lettuce is unusual but tasty -- like arugula without the bitterness. This is a large portion which you could share with four people as an appetizer. Sugar Snap Pea pizza: unexpected flavors with snap peas, mushrooms, & stracciatella. Table was divided on whether this worked. Cacio e Pepe: this version uses bucatini and is a little creamier than the classic. I ate it all regardless. Grilled Avocado: the name ignores that it includes fried artichokes as well. Satisfying and not too garlicky. Another large portion. The only disappointing item was the Polenta -- a little bland. If you get the Chicken Parm, you only need a half portion. From the moment we walked in, the experience stood out. We had to wait a bit longer than expected for our table, but the staff handled it so thoughtfully--our waitress was incredibly friendly and sweet, and even brought us complimentary bread while we waited, which immediately made us feel taken care of. A Thanksgiving Week Gem in La Quinta Stumbled upon Posh Kiki's during Thanksgiving week in La Quinta, and what a find! The shrimp casarecce alla vodka was absolutely spectacular - that creamy, perfectly balanced vodka sauce was exactly what I needed after tennis sessions (once or maybe even twice a day in the desert!). The Margarita pizza was equally excellent, with a beautifully charred crust and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is vibrant and fun - loved the neon Italian hand gestures and the fabulous Betty White portrait keeping watch over the dining room. She's living her best life at Kiki's, and honestly, same. Service was warm and attentive, and the space has great energy - lively enough to feel festive but you can still have a conversation. My fiancé and I recently visited Kiki's in La Quinta for a date night, and overall, it was a fantastic culinary experience. We started our evening with their homemade focaccia, which was an absolute standout. It was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For our mains, we shared Tony's pizza and the bucatini and meatballs. The pizza was spectacular, the crust was dialed in perfectly with just the right amount of crisp and chew. The bucatini pasta itself was thick and absolutely delicious. Our only real critique of the night was the meatballs; unfortunately, they were a little cold right in the center. I have been craving bucatini for literal years, and if you know bucatini, you know it's a tricky pasta to master. The thickness of the noodle makes achieving that perfect al dente bite a real challenge. Kiki's didn't just meet the challenge; they obliterated it. The dish was phenomenal, a culinary reunion I knew I needed. It's rare to have a craving that lasts five years, and even rarer to find a dish that makes that wait absolutely worthwhile. We went early and sat at the bar. The bartender (unfortunately didn't get his name) was really friendly and attentive. Inside feels like an upscale setting - well decorated. We had a couple of cocktails which we enjoyed, especially after my husband asked for a bit of a stronger pour. We started with the focaccia, which we didn't feel was as good as we read in previous reviews. The Tricocore salad was fantastic. We were exited to try the Bucatini Caico de Pepe after reading the reviews here, but we found it to be just shy of al dente and too chewy, and overly sauced/seasoned. My girlfriends and I were staying in Indio for a girls weekend and one of the places on Tiktok to checkout was Kiki's, because our reservation was greater than 6 I had to call directly, I spoke to Tony and he was really kind, he made our reservation and when I had to change it for a different date he was really accommodating. We're from San Diego and we didn't know what to expect, we were a little surprised that it was in a strip mall, but made sure we kept our minds open. First the place inside is completely fun and cute, it's really reminiscent of our Little Italy restaurants. The decor was fun and loud but not to eccentric where you feel things are out of place. The host sat us at our table and we were immediately greeted by Lilibeth. She introduced herself and grabbed us water while we looked at the menu. For my drink, I ordered the passionfruit tequila cocktail and asked to substitute the tequila for mezcal, the whole table actually ordered it as a drink. While I didn't mind my cocktail, the rest of the table found it to be a bit too sour, so we all just chugged it, my friend ended up getting a completely different drink. With regards to food, I shared the wagyu carpaccio with one friend and ordered the half order of chicken parm as my meal, with a side of polenta. Lilibeth was super personable and kept checking in on us to make sure we were okay. The food came out super quickly and we were silent as we devoured our food. The carpaccio was nice and cold and had really nice flavor too it. My chicken parm was the star of the table, perfectly crisp and cheesy, the sauce wasn't too acidic either which sometimes is an issue for me, seriously such good flavor. With regards to the polenta, oh man was that perfect, soft and creamy and cheesy. I ended up finishing my whole plate. This my second time eating here and man I wish this was in the east coast where I live! First of all, love the aesthetic and vibe of this place so much. The olive trees inside and if you sit at the right table, you can get a decent view of the mountains. The menu has great shareable options as well as pizza, pasta, meat and seafood. We ordered the homemade focaccia and carpaccio for sharing. The carpaccio is some of the best I've ever had. The toasted capers are chef's kiss on it and every bite was the best bite. The whipped ricotta for the bread was super yummy as well. I ordered the bucatini and meatballs and it was the perfect plate! Pasta cooked to perfection, succulent meatballs, sauce and portion. I was full but not stuffed - plenty of room for dessert! I did taste the chicken Parmesan and that was equally delicious - the half portion is huge fair warning! We stared with Arancini which were a little different from the first time I had them. Rice was yellow not as cheesy but yummy. The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio was amazing!! Highly recommend. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese which was incredibly delicious. The Shrimp Casarecce Alla Vodka was also delicious. I noticed this time no bread was served or offered which I found disappointing. Amen our dinner was brought to our table, no parmesan cheese was offered we had to ask. When we asked for Parmesan cheese our waiter looked surprised that we asked for it, which we found weird. When our waiter came back with Parmesan cheese he brought it in a tiny little serving cup, which wasn't fresh at all. We also ordered the Tiramisu which I don't recommend at all. It comes in a soup bowl looking like a bowl of onion soup, very unappealing and was not good at all. It was clear to me that service was not as great from the first time. I noticed from the last time I was here for dinner the service we received was completely different from the service we received this time around. The service we received the first time was so friendly cheerful and amazing which was one of the reasons I wanted to go back. I notice a gentleman walking around to all the tables along customers how they were doing talking to customers. He made it to our table just as we finished up dessert. Come to find it was a new owner not the same owners from the first time when I went with family. It was clear why the service was so different. The ambiance is definitely adorable and inviting very nice with olive trees throughout the restaurant. All in all I don't think I'll be making the hour in half drive for Kiki's again. It's definitely not the same service from the previous owners. The previous owner was so friendly and proud in explaining everything about the dishes, where all their products came from Italy, bread was freshly made the Arancini was different from what it is now. I would really give them a 3.6 but I rounded up because of the nice server , Cosmo, the atmosphere, and the quality seems pretty good. I try to be kind when it comes to the stars but I'm not sure I want to go back for many reasons. One big reason is they are extremely ridged on changing anything such as swapping different pastas with different sauces or having a different side other than the three they offer. Also , they have a small and very limited menu , which they change frequently so you cannot browse the photos on yelp and expect to find those dishes when you dine there. You must go to their web each time and see what they are serving right before to go. We wanted to order , but they did not have polenta, gnocchi, or pappardelle bolognese which we saw on yelp picture gallery and just assumed it would be the same since they have only been open for a year. They charge 4 dollars for the bread which was small but very good. I decided on a half order of chicken parm $35 but I changed my mind because I didn't like vegetables or potatoes as a side dish. I offered to pay extra for a pasta side but Cosmo said that it is not an option and that I could order a pasta dish for around $25 to share with the table but it was just mom and I and she doesnt eat pasta. My half a chicken dinner with pasta would have been $58 plus tax and tip! All other Italian restaurants chicken Parmesan comes with a side of pasta as a general rule. Mom couldn't find anything she wanted so she ordered hanger steak for $45. The steak was good but it came with the potatoes which were dry and tasteless. She had to ask for some butter to put on them. My pasta was good but portion wise it was on the small side. The tiramisu tasted home made and was really large. Such a cute place with an artsy theme but the food was rather underwhelming. The burrata and foccacia is pretty standard. The cacio e pepe was not bad but a little on the oily side. The chopped salad was decent and nice to share though and the polenta (with the prawns) was best when mixed with the tomato sauce. However, none of these left a real memorable impression on our taste. There's an effort but it seems to miss the mark. Everything came in large portion sizes as well so expect some leftovers. We could have easily split the salad and a single entree between two of us. As for the beverages my mom was also disappointed with their espresso martini and did not finish it. Those are definitely hit or miss in most places. It tasted almost like medicine, and perhaps it was just the liqueur used, but it wasn't worth remaking. Our party of four enjoyed two delicious pizzas and drinks before heading just a few steps away to Marvin's Magic Theater. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and our delicious food really put us in a ebullient mood for the show we were about to see. Having paid our bill, we strolled down towards the theater, only to be interrupted by an almost frantic (turns out employee of Kiki's) looking for the party of four that had just left. The young man had found my money clip on the floor below the table and was desperate to find its owner. Me! I usually don't carry a lot of cash, but just to experience this man's attempt to reunite their customer with his property reinforced just how much we love living in La Quinta and appreciate everyone who makes this amazing later life adventure sooo amazing. It all just works here and the ownership has pressed the passion of Italian cooking on the the entire staff. YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes, they have tried to make KiKi's a fun dining experience and for the most part they have succeeded. It is not over-the-top Italian everything, thankfully, more "Cali Itali". Would recommend a Reservation but we just dropped in early and had no problem getting a nice table. But by 5:30pm they were slammed. LOCATION: Easy to find in same development as cinema and other businesses just off Washington. Tons of parking. FACILITY: New, very nice, modern, with a lot of interesting artwork on the walls. MENU: A little fancy as my Italian is not a so good, but that is okay and I am sure some people like it. RIP Mezze Maniche Carbonara is no longer on the menu a sad day for sure. FOOD PREP: Excellent all done with intention, a chef and an owner who sees the art and presentation of the food is as important as the taste. FOOD TASTE: Very good, thankfully entrees not over salted of sauced out. Homemade pasta is always touchy as the texture is different for some people and they don't appreciate what's involved. I hope they continue to promote the homemade aspects of their pasta's as for sure they could just not do it and save time, trouble, and money. Not the best Italian food I have ever had but I don't think that is the goal here, but it is very good, and everything together just works. WAITSTAFF: Very good and watching everyone, they are all on the same page. The excellent training and motivation of staff and then the timing of everything is fantastic, not too much, but you have about 4 members assisting with your meal. I'd say with few exceptions the waitstaff experience at Kiki's is some of the best in LQ and with zero attitude. OVERALL VALUE: Very good for this level of service and food quality. COCKTAILS were a little pricy at $16 so I passed but the bar looked to be entertaining and very well set up. FOOD seemed priced prefect but not inexpensive. For me, the entree portions were too large and 1/2 of my Bucatini and Meatballs went to the trash as did my wife's Rigatoni Bolognese. To encourage customers to try many things, PLEASE offer a reasonable split fee or entree 1/2 orders on a couple of items as we ordered the Butternut Squash Arancini, Peruvian Bay Scallop, Focaccia bread, and then two entrees and it is just too much food. I know waiters are there to sell drinks, appetizers, and entrees but a waiter letting people know that is a lot of food, making a split an open option is very much appreciated before I order, Grazie. First visit to Kiki's! LOVED this beautiful new restaurant offering both indoor and outdoor seating! The service was FIRST class! If you follow my reviews you know I LOVE lots of staff standing around making sure dirty dishes are removed, water glasses are kept full, and food is being run out of the kitchen as it's prepared. Well, Kiki's is generously staffed and graciously trained to push in chairs and fold napkins when a guest leaves the table. Nice touch! Our server Nick was great! Our food was delicious, and vibe chill! We look forward to returning often! The only room for improvement were two things... one, the cocktail pours were a bit on the thin side and two, the Parmesan offered for my bucatini would have been better if it was grated over my dish rather than serving the ground Parmesan in a small dish. We went to Kiki's Friday night for a party of four of us. Reservation was at 7:15p. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, a large order of Chicken Parmesan, Bucatini Caico e' Pepe and the Tricolore Salad. Waiter came over - took our order. We had 3 glasses of wine and an iced tea. Runners dropped the food - waiter did not come back after the food was dropped. Not even once! Everything was good except the Bucatini Caico e' Pepe. It literally had SO much pepper it was inedible. I have this dish all the time and make it at home as well. It was so over the top heavy on the pepper. But since the waiter never came back - I was never able to say anything. We asked the busser for more iced tea - never got it. By the time we got our food the restaurant was somewhat clearing out and not as busy. I realize that restaurants are understaffed these days and people are stretched thin but there was absolutely no reason our waiter could not have come back to service our table once things calmed down, which they did. The girl at the front (sorry for not remembering your name) greeted us kindly and politely and then seated us, we were then offered water by another young server who could only offer us water (as he was underage, again sorry as I have forgotten his name) who did an excellent job throughout the evening, more on that later. After our main server Cosmo had brought us our arancini and mama Mia martinis (both of which are phenomenal) we were asked to moves seats as we had been put in the wrong area, not a problem to us at all. We then ordered the cacio e pepe and the vodka shrimp which were sublime. The staff went above and beyond to make my wife and I's evening very special. The owner Jack even sat down with us to talk about the restaurant and the staff (who he sung to the heavens about). Jack made the evening feel very personal and as if we were close friends or even VIP's when we are just your average couple out for a date night. We received the best possible reception and experience at Kiki's that it has instantly become our go to place for a night out for dinner. So upsetting. We used to love this place, but had heard that it changed ownership. Well, the soda was flat, the sparkling water was flat, and the food was not as good. The arrencini balls were dry and missing the cream sauce they used to put on it, my meatballs tasted like hockey pucks and after we were served dinner our waiter disappeared for 30 to 45 minutes. When the owner came over and asked how our meal was and we told him it wasnt great, he said everything is homemade and nothing has changed... No way that is true. read more
