It's been over a month and my mom still won't stop talking about the nice server and the great service and great food. I think I know what her favorite restaurant is LOL - We went out for a ladies' night and ordered the Pupu platter and the Chef's special - Scallop pasta. As a treat we also picked up the Mango Colada. Our very sweet server was so kind and catering and very fun to talk to. He made sure we had a great dinner experience and was so pleasant to talk to. Food was phenomenal and the scallops were cooked to perfection. Pasta was so good and we just about liked everything on the Pupu platter. The drink was so good and not too sweet. The vibe of the restaurant is fancy with low, intimate lighting, perfect for date nights. Highly recommend coming here and trying out the different foods. Overall rating: Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Menu: 10/10 Restaurant Vibes: 10/10 Price to Overall Dining (POD): 10/10

We've been to The Tropicale a few times in the past and it has yet to disappoint. This visit was for brunch and it was another great experience overall. We love the retro Miami meets Palm Springs vibes. The lounge is fantastic for having a few cocktails. We ordered the steak and eggs and the eggs Benedict, and both dishes were well prepared and satisfying. The flavors were solid and everything came out cooked just right. We both ordered Bloody Mary's, those were the only miss for me. Mine didn't have much flavor and the mix was a bit too runny for my taste. I switched to an espresso martini instead and that was absolutely fabulous. Our server was amazing and really elevated the experience. He went above and beyond and even brought out a slice of raspberry coffee cake that was super yummy and a really nice touch. We sat on the patio and the weather was beautiful, which made the whole brunch feel relaxed and enjoyable. Consistently good food, great service, and a perfect patio vibe we'll definitely keep coming back.

Love the vibe! The outdoor dining is wonderful- a fun choice of music, excellent wait staff. The food? It's always been good. It's also creative! What more could we ask for?

Tropical is high on my "Palm Springs fav" list. We love the ambiance inside or out, but the patio dining is my favorite. Lots of shade, and on the off season, they have misters and fans. The staff are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The menu offers a wide selection of regular items, as well as a weekly "specials" menu. Happy Hour is 4 to 7p daily and till closing Wednesdays. The Happy Hour menu offers another selection and nice discounts on their cocktails...which are fabulous! On our latest visit, Gabriel who has taken care of us before, gave us the great service we have always received at the Tropical!

Alcohol may be man's worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy -- Frank Sinatra And if you live the enemy as much as I do, here is your spot ;-) We were looking for a casual place after a hike on the mountain and this is the place google said was best rated. It's next to the Aqua Caliente casino and there is plenty of street, lot or dirt parking. We chose dirt ;-) It's Hawaiian nightclub themed and the interior is definitely Hawaiian 1950's and very IG friendly. I only took one pic though. We were eating early so tons of interior empty seats but the bar and outside seating was lively. The interior filled up by the time we left. Service was friendly and quick with only one hiccup. They brought all of our appetizers at once instead of spacing them out. I hate racing to eat apps before they get cold. Drinks were strong...very strong!!! Tasty and flavorful and lovely, but I was driving so I only ordered one Mai Tai. The blueberry mojito looked lovely too. Food surprisingly was very good for the theme. We had the Ahi poke, crispy tuna roll, Kobe steak skewers, firecracker shrimp and lamb meatballs. We split the carne asada skirt steak with mole negro. The wine list looked pedestrian. When we come back on a future PS trip I would bring my own bottle if I survive one of the strong drinks ;-) Highly recommended for a non downtown restaurant in Palm Springs!

On our annual getaway to a warmer climate the gang decided to try The Tropicale for dinner. The entrance emitted an older Palm Springs retro vibe harkening back to the days of my youth (60s to early 70s). Inside the ambiance melded the retro look with upscale. Very attractive. I started with a dry martini with Hendricks Gin, nicely prepared and chilled with a twist of, just the way I like it. The others in our party enjoyed their drinks too. The menu provided lots of options which was great for the diverse appetites at the table--everything from small plates, to pizza to composed plates. I went with the ahi tuna bowl. It was fine. Generous pieces of properly seared tuna, on a bed of rice, with sprouts and micro-greens. Flavor was a bit one-note, I could stand something with a tad more spice, but many would find it just right. All in all it was a good choice for a group of seven and I'd eat here again.

The Tropicale was incredibly accommodating. We had reservations on the patio for lunch, but it was very hot for us visiting Midwesterners, so they were able to accommodate us inside in the AC. Also, I ordered the flatbread and remembered after the fact that I forgot to order cauliflower crust. Server Martin literally ran to the kitchen and they were able to accommodate that as well. My husband had the chili Thai steak salad, and it was divine!

Lovely dining environment--felt like a scene out of the movie, Birdcage. Cocktails were delicious and will have to come back to try their eggs Benedict which looked divine! Our server was very attentive and easy to have quick conversations when he stopped by to check on our table. Will definitely be back for more!

We didn't plan to come here but the place ended up being super cute and the service was good. Pretty drinks!

OMG, the food, service, and ambiance were great. The bartender, Albina, made the best martini for my wife. She gave us great service and there was a lot of fun. At our tabke we were served by Nico and he was fantastic. He recommended the fried chicken and it was the best ever.

First time back at Tropicale after a long absence and things seem to have gone downhill in the kitchen. The space remains nicely buffed, and the staff is friendly as can be -- service on top of demeanor is also first rate. It all feels right until the food is served. The house specialty, boneless Southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes and succotash, landed at the level of a local coffee shop rather than a high-toned restaurant. The flavors were mild and forgettable. A shrimp cocktail, with shrimp billed as "big ass" on the menu, actually arrived with 4 large, but certainly not jumbo, shrimp -- and these shrimp were way too shrimpy to command a price of $8.50/ea. My own entree was one of the daily specials: seafood paella. Now, I'll grant you that the individual seafood components (shrimp, scallops, mussels), as well as andouille sausage, were all fresh and tasty, but the rice was underdone and bland; and there was no crispy underside, the "socarrat" that makes all paella meals worthy of mention. I ate the seafood and left the wan, unappealing rice to the plate. In the end, this was a no-hum meal served by well-trained adults in a lovely space. The kitchen needs to regain some magic and make sure the food coming out is up to expectations.

This was an absolute delightful dining experience. The entire staff went above and beyond to provide an exceptional experience for every guest. They all appeared to love what they were doing. It was incredible. The wine list and cocktail menu were extensive and reasonable. Cocktails were works of art. The food was delicious and creative. Didn't try too hard to be trendy or precious. Just beautifully presented, perfectly executed and delicious. It had a cozy atmosphere, a happy buzz that wafted over the room. Truly a great experience. Everyone in the room was happy! How often does that happen? When in Palm Springs you must make a point to have dinner where everyone is treated as a valued guest, served by exceptional Tropicale ambassadors, and stuff yourself with absolutely inspired food in a Palm Springs mainstay. Ask for Sarah. Have the salmon.... Enjoy.

Where is the BEST seating on the patio? I'm seeing in the reservation there's the "covered patio" as well as the "newly renovated open-air west patio". Would like something lively and prefer misters and shade.

For shade and quick service, sit at the bar.

Do you accommodate for people with Celiacs disease? How do you handle gluten cross contamination?

Yes they do.

Are dogs allowed?

I don't believe so- didn't see any. It's a chic establishment

Do you have a prix fixe menu for a large party of 20 or so people?

Yes. Please call the restaurant directly for large party reservations. Thanks.

Do you offer Vegan options?

They do

Is there a corkage fee?

Did you see the wines on the special? Yes corkage fee $30 but why

Will you be open on Christmas Day this year, 2021?

Yes, from 4PM to 8:30 PM.

Are you open on Christmas Eve?

Yes we are!

Are you open on Thanksgiving Day?

Yes we are!

Are you pet friendly?

Service animals only.

Is there a dress code?

Not my knowledge. We dressed Desert nice-casual but I also beach shorts to upscale pant-suits.

Is this place still open? Do they offer outdoor seating?

Yes, OF COURSE....on the PATIO only!!!

Are they open Christmas Day?

Yes!

This place better for brunch or dinner?

Both, depends on what you're looking for. The brunch is amazing but if you prefer an evening under the starts on the back patio or more of a dinner menu over a brunch menu. You can't go wrong either way. Love this place!

Can The Tropicale accommodate large groups?

They have a couple large seating areas inside and out. I think it would be best to call them to see how big a reservation they will accept.

I was there last year and the food is amazing, however this year we have a guest with us that is gluten free, is there any options for that on the menu?

Shouldn't be a problem. Plenty of salads, veggies, seafood, fish dishes, etc...

Do we need a reservation?

I would recommend it.

If you can't get a reservation, bar seats are first come, first served, and I can see why people line up for them. This was probably the most expensive meal of our trip, and at times you definitely feel it. A Belvedere martini with no vermouth for $27 made me laugh a little. This isn't Vegas. That said, much of the food was excellent. The Duck Liver Pâté was incredible, and the Red Thai Curry Mussels were unique without overwhelming heat. The Cacio e Pepe was one of the standout dishes of the week. Those thick noodles were fantastic. We also ordered the Steak Frites and upgraded to filet. Unfortunately, it came out overcooked, and I asked for it to be removed from the check. On the other hand, the Smoked Bone-In Duroc Pork Chop was perfectly prepared and incredibly moist. Dessert finished strong. The Aniston's Pavlova was excellent, especially the Chantilly cream. The warm chocolate chip cookies were delicious too, although $15 for cookies is definitely a Palm Springs moment. Pricey? Very. Worth experiencing? Absolutely.

On our journey to Palm Springs my team left the food choices to me since I'm picky. Lol. We showed up on a Wednesday night (note that they do not open Monday and Tuesday), around 4:40 PM. There was already a long line of individuals waiting to get in. There were about 15 people ahead of us. At opening, we were immediately sat down into the second dining room to the right of the restaurant. It gives a different vibe than the main room with its red bench seating and lantern ceiling. Although the benches were high, and the tables were a little low, we managed. Of course, we tried the complementary congee. Which I love, but my colleagues were not a big fan of. We ordered the calamari and the crispy beef noodle. We also ordered the shrimp and mango spring roll, the softshell crab and green papaya salad, and the pork belly lettuce wraps. The shining stars, for my colleagues were the calamari and crispy beef noodle. Followed by the shrimp and mango spring rolls and the softshell crab. The three of us did not enjoy the pork belly at all even though it came recommended. We actually only ate 2 pieces. The food overall was good although we wish we didn't get the pork or at least stuck to our goal of four main dishes. The waitress recommended we get one more and that's when we added the pork. Next time we will go with our gut instinct. One thing that was disappointing on this visit was that when we ordered drinks, one of them came out in a can. We were under the assumption it was a draft pour. For $14 it should have been noted that it is canned. The way that it is written into the menu no one would assume otherwise.

The two-top table near the bar, with mustard-fabric lounge chairs on low spindled "moon-lander" inspired supports seem to have jumped right out of a 60's time machine, matching the retro vibe in the whole place. Our server was delightful, regaling us with her informative descriptions of her favorite dishes... it's fabulous when a server knows the menu so well that they can describe not only what's in the dish, but why it's so good. Cocktails were an obvious strength, and after my first choice, the pear-inspired Akita was regrettably "out of stock" (she informed us that they had run out of the fresh pear syrup they make by hand each day), I was steered to the It's Giving Julius. This boozy take on the classic Orange Julius, with a mouth-watering egg-white-textured foam floating on rum-infused a citrus blast. For Gayle, it was a moment to savor the non-alcoholic "Clutch Your Pearls," complete with boba pearls atop an icy lime-green concoction. The entire restaurant is themed on "American comfort food with an Asian twist." And let me say, they nailed it in every aspect. My bowl of Tteokbokk was a brilliant spin on a classic Rigatoni bowl, subbing Korean rice cakes for pasta and gochujang spiked tomato sauce for marinara, but keeping the rich parmesan/mozzerella cheese. At the server's suggestion, I topped it with fried pork belly, well executed and delicious, the entire bowl was light with an arrabiatta-like kick. My wife had the Garlic Noodles... imagine a creamy bowl of chicken noodle casserole straight out of the 60's, but without a can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken in sight. Velvety sauce glazed perfectly cooked Ramen noodles with vegetables and chicken... took her right back to her mother's kitchen where the same dish was the perfect remedy for the flu - comforting and scrumptuous without being too heavy. And finally having not overstuffed ourselves on this trip, we opted for the "poor life choice" of dessert. And after asking for the "simple plate of milk and cookies," the server corrected me and stated - rightly so - that this was anything but simple. Three stuffed cookies: Red Velvet with cheesecake cream, S'mores with marshmellow, and cinnamon filled Churro - nuggets from Heaven's bakery, with a glass of cold milk. We managed to finish it and roll on out full of some of the best food we've had this year. The only minor hiccup was when trying to buy merch on our way out, the front stand didn't have a terminal to let us pay, so we had to seek out a bartender to run our credit card (and they were super busy). A minor complaint in the grand scheme... get those hosts a card reader! Note: We didn't see a single dog in the place... but they clearly are welcome to 4-legged clientele. Such a fun spot.

I've been in once before a while back for a drink which was just whatever then. But everytime I would walk by, it was alway lively. Today, after a stroll along the boulevard, we popped in for a drink. Of course they were pretty busy to start with. Checked in with the hostess which we mentioned that we just wanted a drink and if we could sit along the hi top counter along the front. Her reaction was quite cute and sweet and seated us there. I believe our waitress Brenda or Brandee (I could be wrong). The sweetest and friendliest. We happened to make it right before happy hour was over from 3-5. The menu was quite small both for the main and happy hour. Main consist of some starters, a handful of entrees and some desserts. HH had some drinks special, a couple dollars off drinks and some dollars off shareable plates. We just had one of the beer on tap which was on happy hour for 6.00. Also one of the flatbread pizza which came up to 12.00 on happy hour. A recommendation from the waitress which was great. It didn't take long for drinks to arrive and then the food right after. Flatbread was quite nice and cheesy. A good combination for a meal. We were having dinner later so something lite to share was great. During the time we were there, the live entertainment was setting up with live music. A nice treat to have while dining. The location is excellent. Right in the heart of town and on the main strip where people watching is amazing. There's a full bar right in the middle so that was nice. The hi top seating along the front is perfect for people watching. The whole patio seating is great for people watching. Overall, we enjoyed our quick little bite with a cold beer and flatbread. Service was great as everyone was very sweet and friendly. Love the live music added to the dining experience. Our waitress was amazing and the sweetest.

While we're shopping downtown a bit we came across a Tommy Bahamas Grill that we visited in Ft Lauderdale FLA. We had such a great experience there, we decided to try it in PS. We sat outside and Scott the server greeted us and he was great. The service was great from start to finish. It was happy hour time a we do love our happy hours. We ordered a couple of drinks and some of the shareables. We had the Ahi Tuna tacos, which were very tasty. There were four of them with a wonton shell. Very creative. Also had the margarita flatbread in which the cheese was different but delicious. We had the chips with a side of guacamole and salsa. All very good The outside atmosphere on the main strand was pretty cool. I am sure we will be back when we come back.

The staff were extremely friendly and engaging. I decided to have "girl dinner". This consisted of an order of their guacamole and chips. and the heirloom beet salad. The guacamole was so fresh and flavorful with the perfect level of salt and spice. The chips were thick and crunchy, just the way I like them when I'm eating a dip. As for the heirloom salad, it had the most delicious beets and a goat cheese purée. The fresh fruit was a nice balance to the savory and salty from the beets and the cheese. To wrap up my tasty meal I decided to try the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. They come three to an order and are made fresh to order. The chocolate chip cookies were thick and gooey, and probably some of the best I have ever had. So do yourself a favor, even if you are not staying at the Holiday House for lodging, make sure you come check out their on site restaurant. (I've heard amazing things about their weekend brunch, but did not have the chance to try it this time around.)

A truly charming little restaurant in one of those charming iconic Palm Springs hotels. This was…read moreour second time eating here and I'm sure it won't be our last. We went for brunch this time, and the menu is pretty extensive with some unusual signature dishes. We went because I said I was craving a waffle, my husband found 'chicken and waffles" on their menu and said, "why not, we will get some protein with our waffle." So we started with a Bloody Mary, which they graciously split between the two of us. The garnish was unusual, including a delicious pickled okra (I don't know what a single okra pod is called), which I found really delicious. Enough so that when my husband proclaimed 'weird," I ate his too. I have a weakness for okra. As promised, we ordered the chicken and waffles and their chia pudding, which we ask them to serve first. Not only was it visually attractive, it was fresh, refreshing and delicious! So, the chicken was excellent and a generous portion, the waffle was light and also delicious. BUT, it comes with a special syrup infused with gochujang, and likely to be quite spicy. We asked them to please leave it off and serve maple syrup on the side. When it arrived the waffle was kind of drowned in the special syrup, which was, indeed, pretty spicy. It's unusual, and actually delicious, but my hubby can't tolerate hot spicy food, so it was unacceptable. We told our server who promised a replacement waffle. It proved delicious, but when we got our check, they added $7.00 for the extra waffle! We had to complain to get them to remove the charge. So, that was an inconvenience; would we come back? For sure, yes, overall it's worth it.

Holiday House - Super cute atmosphere. It was 100 degrees and a bit hot, but they do have a super strong fan blowing. Would be GREAT if a bit cooler.
