We visited The Local on 50th this past Saturday evening with friends for dinner and drinks before a show at the casino. I was excited to try it since I hadn't been back to this location since it was Tu Madres, which I was a big fan of. The menu looked promising, and having live entertainment was definitely a major plus. Unfortunately, our overall experience was a bit underwhelming. We made a 6:45 p.m. reservation through OpenTable and requested a high-top table. We ended up being seated at a standard four-top next to the restroom. While it wasn't our preference, the restaurant was busy, and I completely understand that it's not always possible to accommodate every seating request. One thing that was disappointing was the beer selection. The menu advertises craft beer, but under the "Craft & Canned" section it mostly listed domestic staples like Coors Light and Michelob Ultra. There were only a few craft options on draft, and unfortunately the ones our group tried weren't particularly enjoyable. The guys ended up leaving them unfinished and ordering cocktails instead. We ordered the French 760, which unfortunately missed the mark as well. It was overly sweet, and the sugar rim melted down the glass, leaving the stem sticky and messy to hold. The appetizers were actually one of the highlights of the meal. Both the fried artichoke bites and the fried cauliflower were flavorful and well prepared. Service is where the evening started to unravel a bit. After our appetizers arrived, our server didn't return for about 25 minutes. When he finally came back, he asked if we were ready for the check. We had to remind him that we were still waiting to order our entrees. Once we placed our order, the food arrived quickly. Of the entrées, the Steak Frites was excellent and easily the standout dish of the evening. Unfortunately, both the Pasta Pesto and the Pasta Vodka were disappointing. The penne was overcooked, and both sauces were very bland and lacked the flavor we were expecting. The true highlight of our visit was the live entertainment. This was our first time hearing Jessica Michelle perform, and she was phenomenal. While playing the keyboard, she effortlessly covered country favorites spanning multiple generations. Her voice was absolutely beautiful, and she created such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her future performances. We're not writing off The Local on 50th. I spent over 20 years working in the restaurant industry, from family-style restaurants to fine dining, and one thing I learned is that every restaurant can have an off night. It happens. There was enough potential here that we'd be willing to give it another try and hope our next experience better reflects what this restaurant is capable of. read more

A friend took me there for my birthday. She had the poke and loved it. Our server, Thomas, recommended the Mediterranean salad to me which was fantastic!!! Thomas was very attentive and made sure everything was to our liking. Five stars additionly just for Thomas. Unfortunately, we didn't even get to eat here because the experience was so disappointing from the start. The restaurant has a B health grade, which was already concerning. We also found out that reservations are required for dinner, but nowhere on the restaurant's website was this clearly stated. Had we known, we would have made a reservation ahead of time. Since we didn't have one, we were told our only option was to sit outside. It was over 100° outside, and the outdoor tables were underneath misters that were soaking the tables and chairs. It was so uncomfortable that we couldn't imagine sitting there trying to enjoy a meal and drinks while getting drenched and sweating in the heat. We were simply hoping to have a nice dinner and a drink with coworkers after work, but instead, we ended up leaving and going somewhere else. If reservations are required for dinner, that information needs to be clearly posted on the website. And if customers without reservations are expected to sit outside in extreme heat under misters, there should be a more reasonable alternative. Unfortunately, we never got to try the food because the overall experience before even sitting down was enough for us to leave. read more

Went to The Local last night with the family and tried out a new spot! We got there before 5:00, so we were able to enjoy happy hour -- even on a Saturday, which was awesome. They have happy hour every day from 2-6 PM. We ordered a couple of drinks, which were really good. The artichoke poppers were amazing, and the shrimp tacos were tasty too. The kids' meals were on point, and our server was great -- friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cool and fun, perfect for hanging out or watching football. It was a bit on the loud side, and the only food miss was that the bacon on my daughter's BLT wasn't crispy or cooked quite enough. Other than that, everything was great. After a day of house hunting, our real estate agent recommended The Local to catch a game. And is was a great recommendation! Plenty of spaces (indoor and out to catch a game). A modern bistro/gastro pub with a lot of charm. After looking at houses it was like it was a sign to buy in Indio when you walk into The Local and all the staff are welcoming you wearing shirts that say "Be Local" as if they knew the debate we were about to discus while watching the game and having a bite to eat! We opted for inside and sat at the bar where Marissa was serving drinks with a kind heart and smile. We cozied up and ordered an appetizer of Homemade House Meatballs and a Grilled Cheese with Bacon. My boyfriend and I come here all the time. Their food is high quality and can find options for anybody! The drink selection is great as well. Inside is sometimes loud when there's live music, etc. but we don't usually mind. Outside is very cute too and has some fire pits! The service is always very good and quick. read more

LOCATION: Good location in Citrus Center off Jefferson and 50th Ave, lots of parking. I FACILITY: Seemed update maybe, we hade a great time on this visit. Space is open and loud but makes it fun. MENU: A lot of choices, Happy Hour is a big deal and missing from our last visit just after they reopened with new ownership. FOOD PREP: Exceptional, food looked as good as it tasted. FOOD QUALITY: Yes, good tastes and textures. LIBATIONS: Finally, this made the place pop. Mostly locals hanging out just having a good time watching TV, maybe enjoying a beverage, maybe two, in the bar area. Glad to see a good vibe happening here. WAITSTAFF: Everyone was happy to be working there on this visit and they enjoying taking care of tables and guests. We went here on Sunday for a friend's birthday. The food was amazing, and the signature cocktails were very original. The service was perfect and the server, Ally, was very attentive. There was even live music which was outside at a comfortable volume. We were so impressed my wife and I went back this evening (Wednesday). We tried some different food and it was just as good as our last visit. Ally was our server again, and she has a wonderful personality and is very attentive and FUN. Wow, what a nice place. We ate here for lunch for the first time today and had the Ahi Poke appetizer and the Caesar salad with chicken. Both meals were really good and fresh. We had a beer and a bloody to go with the items and our bill was around $70 without tip. So this is not the cheapest place around but for what's happening in today's environment not bad at all. The bar was huge and they had current music playing and numerous TVs playing sports. The menu was diverse from burgers to steaks and we look forward to coming back for dinner to see what it's like. read more

Found my new Happy Hour spot in the desert! This place continues to be a hit and so lucky it's nearby. I first came for dinner shortly after they opened and was impressed with the service and food. I knew I'd be needing to come back again to see if they were consistent. Happy to report that this spot continues to be great and really went all out for our large party tonight. As a last minute Christmas Eve friends gathering (I know, who does that) we needed a table for 13 people by 4:30pm. We called at 4pm and were told that it would be absolutely no issue for them to get us a table together on their lovely outdoor patio. Sure enough we showed up and the table was prepped and ready for us. Alicia / Alisha (spelling) was our server and she was a rockstar! I'd come back again for the service alone because she was AMAZING! It's hard enough to accommodate a large party like that and even harder when it's a variety of "characters" but she made the whole night seem seamless. She couldn't have been kinder and she didn't miss a beat. Yes she had a little help with other serves bringing out plates and drinks (they were all great people - and awesome teamwork) but for her to have gotten every order, drink, and side - down to dipping sauces correct is not a small feat with a party that large. Also shoutout to the bartenders and cooks because every dish and cocktail came out quickly, together and made to perfection. All while having plenty of patrons inside dinning, very impressive. I can confidently say this restaurant is great for large groups and parties as they delivered wonderful service and a great pace at getting everything out. Sitting on their covered outdoor patio was lovely and I'd highly recommend it when it's not too hot out. The music was going, they have TV and heaters -- makes for a fun atmosphere and hangout spot. We made it for happy hour and I was very impressed with their menu. Lots of great bites and drink options. I love a robust HH menu. This one was a 5/5. Well done! My go to cocktail / drink here is their peach basil sangria. Very refreshing, the right amount of sweet, and a nice pour. It continues to be my go to here. See my last review for their main dining menu but I can reiterate that the food is stellar. Very classic American bar food but slightly elevated. For HH tonight we went with the fried artichoke hearts and the chicken strip plate. Delicious. Everything was fresh and crispy, right out of the fryer. Fun environment, good food. A little on the loud side, so be prepared for that. Have attended several special events, such as music bingo, and that was lots of fun. If you are going for a special event, call the restaurant ahead of time to ensure the event is still happening. Due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, my last visit was made uneasy due to scheduling and detail issues on the restaurant side. We had once been there and had wine and charcuterie when it was called Camden Cellars. Again we were not disappointed with the food it was delicious. So nice I had to do it twice! My sister put me onto this place, which is one of her regular spots. On the first night out I had a salmon Caesar salad, which was really good. Taco was our server that night, and I was very impressed with his attention and good service. The very next night we stopped in again, and this time I tried the linguine Alfredo with shrimp. It was fresh, well seasoned, and the perfect portion. It also happened to be music bingo night - so fun! Apparently they have different themed nights here, including karaoke and other game nights. I had a blast! I also had the pleasure of meeting a few locals at The Local. I think this restaurant is a great representation of good people coming together for good food. Two thumbs up! read more

2 stars because the service, drinks and ambiance were good. We came here around 9:30-10 on a Saturday because there was a 30 minute wait at our favorite brunch spot. There was only 1 other person in the restaurant at that time, so that should have been our first clue. The mimosa and bloody mary were very tasty. My husband ordered a scramble with tots; I ordered the avo toast. Since no one else was in the restaurant, we were expecting the dishes to be an example of what their food would be like at its best. The tater tots tasted like they had reused the oil. The scramble was very tough - it was almost like they made a (hard) omelet and then covered it up with cheese so you wouldn't notice it wasn't a scramble (and to hide that it had been overdone). I ordered over-easy eggs for my avocado toast. They came out hard and overdone. Despite only eating 1/4 of the toast, the waiter didn't ask me if something was wrong with it - he just happily took it away without any questions. read more

I've been here several times and they were good experiences. Last week I entered the restaurant and asked the older woman at the front for a table outside. She said "We're full." I look outside and see that there's plenty of tables open and told her that it looks like there's some open tables outside. She responds with "WE'RE FULL!" I decided to leave and she laughed. I had a great meal elsewhere because there are plenty of other restaurants that have staff that will act appropriately and will gladly take my money. read more

Went here for a slightly late lunch. Good wine and drink options. Wedge salad adding shrimp was excellent as was the Ahi Tuna stack and the local greens salad. Staff very helpful with menu recommendations. Service also a positive experience with staff asking us at appropriate times if we needed anything. We are looking forward to going back. House Sparkling champagne was flat not sparkling! Brought another glass. Didn't realize it was going to be the best thing of my dinner. Ordered a Wedge with Steak medium rare. Steak was raw & charred black on top. Wedge was a chopped romaine salad with bottled blue cheese dressing. I could have gone to Ralph's and bought a bagged salad & blue cheese dressing for half the price. Next time I will! Husband didn't completely get what he ordered either. The ambiance was okay and the service was good by Amanda. Unfortunately, the brunch food was not good. My wife's avocado toast barely had any avocado on it. What avocado that was on the sandwich was cold and it was a warm sandwich. My chilaquiles were barely acceptable all the chips were all soggy, none were close to crisp. I ordered chicken on the chilaquiles but I received less than a 1/4 of chicken, very chintzy. Disappointing experience. Not sure we'll be back. read more
