Corazon De Agave is a hidden gem. We had driven by the location tucked behind a Walgreens to the East of Paradise Valley High School many times and on a whim decided to check it out. We are so glad we did. So much so we've been there four times in the past couple of weeks. Here's why we love it. Unlike a lot of traditional Mexican places the décor is light, modern and welcoming with very cool hanging light fixtures and lots of large colorful agave themed paintings. The welcoming and efficient staff greets you with a smile you will be seated at one of many comfortable tables that are spread apart so you don't feel crowded or cramped. We've been served by Chanel on a couple of visits and she is efficient, friendly and professional. The menu is unique, not like any other Mexican place we've been to in the past. The food is beautifully presented and the emphasis is on flavor minus a lot of gloppy melted cheese and an over abundance of salsa and onions. The service is excellent and the food comes out quickly. The margs are excellent and if you go during happy hour they are just six dollars. If your interested is Mexican food with a twist check it out! This place was fantastic! Great location if you're trying to find something between Scottsdale and Phoenix. It is located in a shopping center but don't let that fool you. This restaurant is decorated beautifully, modern, and excellent service. The food is authentically Mexican. Came here with my parents who are extremely difficult to please when it comes to trying out Mexican restaurants and they absolutely loved the food and drinks. We enjoyed the enchiladas suizas, the molcajete plate, chorizo & queso appetizer, and the shrimp plate. Even the kids loved it. The server was well versed on the dishes as well as the chef's background. Perfect for a date night our night out with the family. We had a great time! read more

Came in to this lovely place at happy hour and ordered their house margarita (pictured) which was not only delicious but beautiful as well. Happy hour pricing made it too easy to order two. Definitely stopping there, though. First course ordered the sopasitas, which were a mixture of beans and chorizo topped with lettuce and créma fresca all on top of very tasty English muffin sized masa 'cups'. Again, delicious. M ordered the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo (shrimp in garlic orange sauce) which was perfect. Me? I took Alberto's recommendation and had the Molcajete, a Yucatán traditional stone bowl with shrimp, chicken, steak and fried cheese, roasted cactus in a broth of beans. It was delicious. It was thermally HOT. It was unique to anything I have eaten before (and I was leaning toward chile relleno, which I am sure was also superb, but relatively common). This is our new go to Mexican restaurant! Love the vibe of the restaurant. It's small but has a nice ambience, very trendy and modern. Our server, Enrique, was great. He was very friendly and nice. He recommended the queso fundido for an appetizer. We got flour tortillas and they were small, very warm and delicious. I had the house margarita with a tajin rim and it was a decent size for the price and so good. For entrees we tried the carne asada tacos and chicken fajitas. Everything was so delicious. The meat was tender and very flavorful. We got churros for dessert and they were excellent. They were cooked perfectly, not too overdone or underdone like we have had at other places. Loved it! I'm pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food, but I think I've found my new spot for it in Phoenix. The molcajetes were spectacular and I have plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. My dining companions both had the tampequena and loved it, tons of food and leftovers for them too. Margaritas were strong! This is not a complaint because our server was phenomenal and he was hustling all night, but the restaurant was busy for a Monday night and they could've used an extra server or two. I got the carnitas tacos which were good but I wish they came with fixings except just the lime and onions on the side. I used the lettuce from appetizer and the guac from my husbands meal to add more flavor to the tacos. I also wish they had more salsa options with the chips or carnitas. This restaurant is gorgeous, like a fine dining experience with lovely, modern decor, cloth napkins and wine glasses used for your water. I went at an off traffic time at 2:30 on a weekday so it was mostly empty when I arrived but people started coming in as soon as I finished. I had the Cochinita Pibil and it was excellent, moist and with a hint of citrus, plus it came with an additional lime to enhance the flavor. This pickled onions were a nice compliment and the rice was perfectly cooked. The chips and salsa were also excellent. Loved both salsas, especially the green poblano, plus the bean dip, and the chips had only a hint of salt which allowed the flavor of the salsa to shine. This will be a regular stop when I am in Phoenix. read more

First time here for Mother's day lunch. Ambience was great, modern, quite and not busy at all. The food was tasty. We had soup, beef fajitas, tacos and churros- everything tasted good and fresh. The thing I didn't like is that they bring one drink at the time, then it takes another 5 minutes for the second one to come, then after another 3-4 minutes the third person from our party got the drink. (At the time they had 10 people total, so it wasn't busy or anything else to consider). That is the exactly same way how the food was served. I got mine first then I waited 10-15 minutes before everyone got their food. I can't imagine how would be if they were busy. Also, at the beginning we got chips and salsa to share, but we didn't get the little plates for it. The silverware-3 people got 3 completely different sizes forks- looked very miss matched for a nice restaurant. We would go here again, but they need to improve their service since the food is delicious and the restaurant looks exclusive. read more

This weekend we found a hidden gem. Tucked behind a Walgreens on the corner of 40th/Bell we spotted Corazon De Agave and thought we'd grab a quick lunch. About a year old, this establishment has a modern, minimalist vibe accommodating about 15 tables. (Love the light fixtures!) Luis, the manager was our server. (He also makes a killer Margarita!) He was friendly, offered suggestions and really made us feel welcome. He started us out with some salsas and chips. I fell in love with one of the salsas and Luis gave me a serving to take home. I love ceviche and while I initially thought the price was high, I wasn't expecting a 6" square bowl with a fan of avocado that could easily satisfy a whole table. I ordered the chili rellenos (2 massive stuffed chillis full of seasoned beef) accompanied by rice and refried beans. I always like to try an appetizer, entrée, and dessert at any new restaurant so I left one of the chili rellenos for later and we shared the house-made flan. Yum! I was extremely impressed with everything we ordered (even though it was too much!). The freshness and quality were evident and the presentation was truly artistic. I am used to heat being the primary foundation in Mexican food but you could differentiate the components and flavors of each dish. They hope to make this a neighborhood gathering place and I am glad I'm in the neighborhood! We will definitely be back. read more

We visited this restaurant after researching many Mexican establishments in the area. We are so glad we did! The food was amazing, especially the fish tacos and the pollo enchiladas verde. Scrumptious! The drinks were awesome, the house margaritas were great and Susan had a prickly pear margarita she really liked. The flautas were dry, but the flautas that come with sauces would have been great. Lots of Mexican beer on tap, except Negra Modelo, my favorite. The service was uneven, they gave my enchilada dinner to another guest, so mine was really late, but they comped me a margarita (thanks!) and the wait was so worth it, the enchiladas were amazing. My wife and I had lunch this past Labor Day weekend at Corazon De Agave. We were searching for a Brunch place on Yelp and somehow this Mexican restaurant came up. I wasn't looking for Mexican food, but the reviews were outstanding so I had to give it a try. The restaurant is tucked in the Northeast corner of 40th Street and E Bell road, and on the NW side of the strip mall. It's hard to find, but make the effort. Upon entering, the decor is light and modern and had a nice vibe to it. We started with complimentary chips, bean dip and two salsas. They were all excellent. The chips were homemade and fresh and the bean dip was delicious. My wife ordered the Taco Trio and picked the Chicken, Birria and Carne Asada. I had the Cochinita Pibil and it was better than Barrio Queen's version in Desert Ridge. It came on the bone and served with rice and beans. Our server brought out fresh and hot Au Jus that added a nice touch. It also had pickled onions and a few lime wedges to add acidity. I also ordered flour tortillas and they were homemade. The meal was a 10 out of 10 and it's now my wife's favorite Mexican restaurant. We will be back. Our server was Alejandro and he was great. read more

Had to track down a different waiter to get water refilled. Ordered a dish which I didn't like and the waitress asked what she could get me. I asked for a taco and she told me the price. I assumed she was taking off the entree. Waited a long time for it and finally just asked for the bill. I got the taco at the same time as the bill. I was charged for the entree and the taco. Asked for it to be removed from the bill which it was. Service was very slow. The tortillas are very good. Companions said the enchiladas was good but nothing special. read more
