Buyer beware-I spoke with Ben regarding a drain leak and after his 'inspection' informed me that it would be about $4-$5k because the tub needed to be ripped from the wall. I was extremely surprised by the billing practices of Copper State Home Builders. The company charged a fuel surcharge for using their own company vehicle to deliver a dehumidifier to my property--and then charged again when they returned to retrieve their own equipment. What's even more concerning is that this fuel surcharge was never disclosed or explained prior to contract signing. I don't think most homeowners would reasonably expect to pay a company to come pick up its own property. Additionally, homeowners should be aware that Allstate denied the insurance claim related to this service. After reviewing the invoice, many of the added fees appeared excessive and unnecessary for the work performed. Had these charges been clearly disclosed upfront, I would have declined service. Transparency matters. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage homeowners to request full, itemized pricing in writing before agreeing to any services. read more

wish there was a negitive stars that I can pick for the interaction I had with the owner and his side kick manager! I was rear ended by 1 of his employees in a company van on Friday July 3rd in Mesa on the off ramp of Greenfield and the US60. The employee was very apologetic and jumped out of the van saying I'm so sorry I will pay out of pocket and they have camera in each van that shows he rear ended Audi Q3 and we will fix the damage. He did NOT have an insurance card in his van and with the minimum damage that was caused and Copper States office manager Steve's request we did not call the police. Monday I had 1 estimate and turned it in right away! Even called to make sure they received it. I did reach out several times to see what the owner said and was told the want multiple estates so on Tuesday I went and got 2 more estates and 1 was a request from them to go to there body shop as I did and the estimate we higher then to other 2 I provide. Here is where it went down hill the owner and side kick I have never seen 2 men be so disrespectful and yell, scream and lie out there teeth to a women like I was treated by them in person. I feltI fearful of my safety being in a room alone with how aggressive they got with me! I was told their driver did not hit me and they will not pay to get my car fixed nor would the give me the company's insurance provider to file the accident claim. I was kicked out and had to contact DPS and coal a complaint against them!!!! Today I'm glad that I met Gene from Copper State Home Builders on Small Business Saturday. Although they may not be a small business, they're local and Gene is a true gem. I definitely recommend him, and Copper State. He provided a free consultation, really broke down what steps he would take, took his time explaining everything, and even gave me acronyms for certifications to ensure the maintenance men working on my unit are qualified. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. Copper State caused more stress, more mess, and more disruption than the original water damage. They sent Ben, who was not a trained technician but an inexperienced sales rep focused on upselling. When I asked questions about the amount of equipment being brought in, he responded condescendingly. I explained we previously dealt with a far worse flood (four inches of standing water for hours). This one was about half an inch that stopped within an hour. Instead of explaining anything, he told me this "must be worse or I'd understand how bad it is." I then overheard him talking about how much money he would personally make if we agreed to a pack-out. That told me exactly what his priorities were. Our insurance agent of 30+ years said they had never seen mitigation handled this way and asked whether I trusted their experience or a brand-new sales rep pushing services he profits from. I wish I had heard that sooner. We were pressured into a full pack-out that turned out to be completely unnecessary - people from the moving company admitted they see this level of pack out regularly requested by Copper State. Our belongings came back in unlabeled boxes dumped in the garage, and I was left to sort, unpack, reorganize, and try to restore order on my own. The amount of work they left behind was overwhelming. I've found many broken items as well as boxes full of stuffing paper and little else - probably (speaking as someone who worked from a moving company) because they are paid by space for the cargo and storage piece. The commitment to putting everything right was a joke. I questioned the two men making a delivery about this and they knew nothing about it. I also text messaged the manager who had organized our Pack up to begin with and let him know this, and that I was going to make sure the insurance company was not built for a white glove delivery. He completely ignored that text and responded to me about something else that had to be delivered the next day. CS also promised to send a contractor to handle the house repairs. No one ever came. I waited, like an idiot and, because of that, my father was left without access to his bedroom and bathroom for far too long -- an unacceptable outcome in a situation where we were supposed to be receiving help. By the time their office contacted us with a contractor (a month later) I'd interviewed 5 and already had one working on the repairs. What a bunch of ill-organized, inept owners. They were Johnny-on-the-spot to do the demo and bill me for the reconstruction. That was 6 weeks ago. Called and called the Project Manager, who completely disappeared. I called the company five times and, without my knowledge, I was transferred to a new Project Manager who was abrupt and rude. As I said 5 times, she promised me she would come and ok the demo so they could begin the reconstruction. Called the owner twice and emailed once, and never heard back from him. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They put a giant scratch across my fairly new (and expensive) dishwasher and claim that they weren't responsible as per the contract I signed. EVEN THOUGH I was ASSURED that my kitchen would be put back to exactly the same condition that it was in when they arrived. My countertops have been sitting on my front patio since DECEMBER 10th! From upper 30s to high 80s. Rain and shine. There they sit out in the open. They tried to cover but it keeps getting blown by the wind. They will not return emails. I'm already in touch with the insurance company to tell them how absolutely horrid this company is. Worst I've dealt with in a long long time. Almost three months and I STILL don't have half my kitchen. And now no matter what happens there is a now a giant scratch on my dishwasher that they did. Horrible horrible horrible. The company was referred to me by my plumber to assist with mitigating a water leak in my rental property. My insurer asked for a repair estimate and I asked the company to prepare this. They told me to sign a work authorization that would obligate me to pay 30% of the costs if I canceled. Believing this would expedite the project, I signed the work authorization. However, the company did not prepare the estimate as expected and wasted weeks giving me the runaround until the insurer finally sent their own estimator. Now the company is telling me I must use them to complete the project or pay them 30% of the estimated cost. They didn't do any work and left materials in the tenants bedrooms for which I was compelled to credit my tenant a significant amount of money. I do not want to use this company and they are telling me I will need to pay them 30% for not using them. According to the state statutes, their work auth is not a binding contract and I have no obligation to continue working with or paying this company. If these people come to your house run. Do not sign anything as they will file against you for an inflated rate. I called for help and they made my life infinitely worse. I had to hire a lawyer to defend myself and had to find another contractor to complete the work. They are shady and predatory. They pretended it was an insurance claim and pulled a bait and switch. They mitigated a broken toilet... long term damage that could never be an insurance claim. I hired them to mitigate a shower claim. They torn out my cabinetry causing $3000 in damage to repair a few $100 worth of damages. Absolutely ridiculous. I had to redo my entire bathroom because of these people. Run Run Run. Company that replaced leaking water heater in laundry room recommended Copper State for the Demo and Restoration. Copper state did the demo fine. No problems. The restoration is were the problem exists. They left a hole in two sides with one taped over and the other just bare. The flooring was taken out down to the cement. That was 6 weeks ago. 6 weeks! I was told by receptionist that the owner tried to contact me twice and was unable to do so. As a result he just gave up and let the project go uncompleted. Who wants to do business with a person like that? I will never, never do business with Copper State Home Builders again. Not even in another lifetime. read more

OUT Right SCOUNDREL !!!!! Sent me a bill - for item that were NEVER DONE or used!!!! Water damage - took 24 hr to arrive - but charges for Emergency. Technician apparently was less than competent - not able to place the dehumidifier drain hose into a sink. Let the run off from the dehumidifier water run onto the floor. Causing more damage to a spot that was Initially dry. According to Natasha - the staff if fully trained. What a nightmare!!! This company is a joke! They wasted no time in cutting a huge hole in my ceiling for a leak. Leak was fixed that day and now I can't even get a call back from this joke of a company to repair the giant hole in my ceiling. They are holding up the listing of our house to sell. I had to find my own drywall company to fix their mess. read more

So the initial remediation in our laundry room was ok, but their process of wanting you to go through insurance then have insurance bid it out then sign a contract with them to use whatever lowest bidder they find to do the remodel is horrible. Very inefficient. read more

Dyllan and his team have been very good to me for my water damage + re-pipe project. Dyllan kindly sat me down to explain in simple terms how insurance would cover the project. His team also did a great job leaving my house intact as they set up and took down containment elements for the mitigation portion. They have been working as fast as they could throughout this project thus far. Thank you team for all your hard work thus far! I do think the communication can improve, though. I wish the members would let me know a day in advance that they are coming to do X for the project, but usually, they wouldn't notify me until 30 minutes before arriving. Similar to many of the other poor reviews of Copper State Home Builders. It started with a backed up sewer line in our industrial shop restroom (just a crappy sink and toilet, with tile walls and vinyl floor), the plumber recommended Copper State Home Builders. CSHB came in and told us they can get everything covered by the insurance and they would handle all the insurance stuff and get the restroom back up and running. They then tore out the sink and tile (about 1 days work) and charged over $4k. Then they totally abandoned us for months while our tenants used a rented portopotty. When we finally contacted them about finishing they said they were 8+ weeks out from getting back to it. Eventually we hired someone else who replaced the toilet, sink, tile and drywall within a week. I would give less than 1 star. It was a huge headache. we still had to deal with plumbers, insurance and another contractor. They just got a big payout for a quick demo job. read more

This was a 6 month nightmare. I moved into this condo last year and the water heater we had burst the day after thanksgiving. I contacted copperstate and began the process to have them handle my reconstruction. So, so many things went wrong with this experience, including having to call the police on a violent subcontractor who refused to leave our premeses and would be trespassed if they ever returned, per the police. The team continuously blamed my insurance for any delays, even though every time it was because they had failed to provide documentation or communication to the insurance party. Several members of my insurance had to get involved to effectively push this team to do their job and file what was necessary. The damage included my laundry closet. Our new water heater was depressurized by the first demolition team and it RE-FLOODED my kitchen and closet. The representative manager that came out actually caught an attitude with us for being upset with their re-flooding of my kitchen, and threatened to leave before cleaning or fixing anything. This is just the type of people they are. The subcontractor they hired out left trash everywhere, brought marijuana onto my property (I don't care if it's recreational now, that's so scummy) and then almost forgot to even brace our main joist that had water damage. We literally had to remind them before they put the drywall back up. If we hadn't caught it, there would likely have been massive damage in the future to my property. They also broke my countertop in several places, effectively in half along the sink body. "It happens a lot" was the only answer I got, no apologies. Oh, the same subcontractor also "borrowed" my Bluetooth speaker and returned it THE NEXT DAY, without telling me. I finally got fed up and told them to leave my property. They didn't. Police and neighbors ended up getting involved, and they began threatening the completion of my job if I tried to pursue it further. Since I don't have time or money for lawyers, I had to just sign off that I didn't want them to do further work besides the absolute necessaries to make my kitchen functional. Even after all this, my sink re-collapsed into my cabinet box about 2 weeks after job completion. They came out and re-glued it in place and to this day have planks set underneath it to support it, which is slowly bowing out the bottom of my cabinet box. This entire experience was a literal nightmare and I cannot stress enough to avoid this company. It was a 4-month nightmare to get one small bathroom done with Copper State Home Builders LLC in Mesa, AZ, so this one star is more than they deserve. My hope is to warn anyone thinking about considering this company before it's too late. I initially thought I had a simple drain clog, so I called a low-cost plumber - but he found a leak in my upstairs toilet flange that caused 'Category 2' (waste-water) damage, BOTH upper & lower baths - so the plumber called Copper State for the extensive repairs, and it happened fast. In 30 mins 'Dyllan' from Copper State (CS) was in my home to explain the process. He told me they had to gut both bathrooms, floors, drywall, tub, etc., it would take 4 to 6 weeks but 8 weeks --and I need a hotel. When I asked if they can do one bath at a time to avoid hotel costs, he said, 'No, there's a certain process we have to follow... both have to be done at the same time.' I was not given a choice on the company to use, and I knew nothing about the process, so I looked up Copper State--and I saw their ratings were low, but was told it was an old situation long resolved, and I was in a pinch, knew nothing about my rights. The next day I texted Dyllan, but no response. I finally got in touch with an office manager days later, after 5PM; she verified they will be at my home 8AM so I need a hotel by Mon.- then no one showed up or called. Hours later I was told 'Dyllan no longer works here' - I was then rescheduled later in the week --but only ONE bathroom at a time now, so I lost my hotel deposit. It took four (4) months to complete just one (1) bathroom, from Thurs. 7/24/24 thru to just before Thanksgiving. So I hired a different, more respectful company to do the lower bath, and what a difference! Copper State has major, ongoing employee issues, always a new employee who knows nothing, had to ask a manager who will never give you the time of day--nobody knows what's was going on or cares to find out. I was constantly told to call my 'field rep' (Dyllan) who quit, and was never assigned a new one. In the end, it was the lack of information, lack of care, no assistance whatsoever, constant delays, misinformation and unkept promises that developed the distrust I have now. The final straw was when I called Copper State and offered to bring the signed insurance check to their office. Since I was doing a shower conversion, my insurance paid for a number of items I bought myself-- so I asked the 'new' secretary, if I bring the signed check for full payment, can they calculate my credit at the same time? I also asked if they will write a check, or how they handle deducting my credits (very important before signing full payment over!) But each question had to be relayed to an on-site manager, and each response relayed back to me. God forbid they ever pick up the phone or give any client the time of day! And his final response was, "We're not gonna write you any check." I said, "Really? That is exactly what I expected, so call me when you want to get paid," and hung up. Within 15 minutes they called back, told me to work out the credit with their subcontractor -- another nightmare that involved mitigation. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone. You get constant third-party information--it was always one party who knows nothing asking another who never bothers to find out; the result is constant misinformation. Their right hand never knows what the left is doing, and they cannot keep a good employee. I did not let them do my other bathroom. I hired a new company, and it was done in less than 2 weeks by a very respectful company. You will have problems if you use this company; DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

My mother has Copperstate out restoring her bathroom & kitchen due to water damage. So far they have been great. Everyone that has been out working on this has been perfect, kind & compassionate to my mother. I can't say enough about how respectful all of them are.
