If there is two in a party don't think you will be ask for a drink before the other sit. I came in my wife was I thought 5 min away at most but turn out she was 10. As I was sitting waiting for my wife. No one took my drink order. I don't know about everyone else but I thing when you go to a place like this you can get service. Guess I was wrong. A couple side note. Don't come when there hour left before you close unless you want to eat in the nosies bar. I have been here many time and get there about 1 hour before they close every time they as more then twice if I would eat at the bar. I tell them no. And they sit me. But I feel I am making it Inconvenient to them. Do think think if they make a mistake you will get your order. I order a steak and baked potato. I do not like cheese and would never order cheese on my potato. You guessed it cheese came on the potato. She took it back and brought me my plate bake with a steak and 1/3 portion of mashed potato's. As she did she told me she would be checking on my order of a baked potato. It will be coming soon. She offered dessert for the mistake. We declined. Things happen. A few more minutes go by she bring us the check and says the manager discount our meal for the potato not coming yet. At what point do you think they should have told me they had no more potato's. If it was early I could have changed to the green beans and eat 1/2 my steak and 1/2 my green beans. And my wife would have had my leftover for her lunch. But they didn't make me pay for the potato and gave me a $4 discount. Now between you and I a discount would have been 1/2 off min. Not the price of the $4 potato. That a insult. I didn't get it and you want to give me the price off for not getting it. Thank you management for holding your profit. I don't plan coming to your place for a long time. Let's see if you hold your profit with customer not coming back because they can get what they order. And you don't have baked potatoes at a steakhouse. read more

this place is great. they have a "char rare" option on steaks which is a little less cooked than rare would be. it's probably the best prime rib in town and their appetizer selection is good as well. the blooming onion isn't as good as outbacks, and the calamari steak isn't as good as tahoe joes; but their entrees make up for what their appetizers lack. every meal comes with dinner rolls and a side of ranch chili beans. it's NOT cheap, but they also give very good sized portions! i'll probably be having leftovers for lunch tomorrow. service was great! read more

For a very large party service was spotty at best but they did accommodate our growing party. Beans were inot as good as usual very bland. Never got roll refill. I heard friends brag about this place how the steaks melt in your mouth which they did, but the price/portion makes this restaurant a one star in my book. The food tasted great and the atmosphere was great as well. I ordered the special on the front menu which in the description said ranch steak, shrimp, bacon, and a side. At $18.75 for the plate I got a small 6oz steak and one (yes one) whole shrimp wrapped in a piece of bacon, and a side of green beans. The steak was melt in your mouth but for the price the food didn't even attempt to fill me up... this was my first and last experience at this place. Ever since it was taken over by new owners it has been terrible. We ordered our meals and we were later told that they were out of the chicken needed for my wife's meal. We asked, since they were out of her favorite, if we can get a discount on the secondary choice since we wouldn't have ordered in the first place if we knew they were out. This was my first visit and I was very disappointed. I found an acrylic finger nail in my salad. Totally disgusting and made me lose my appetite. I didn't feel that management was very accommodating. first off i'd like to say the food here is delicious when done right the bbq steak nachos could be a meal all by itself the ribeye is so delicious and tender the new york steak sandwich and prime rib dip is so damn good but like i said, only when they make it right and that is their primary problem... i come here alot and more often than not they overcook the steak to a medium... medium well done status but when its right, it is on point! another problem here is the service... they're pretty slow and they just tend to disappear they're also not the most friendly staff out there... but their manager is nice and atleast tries to accommodate your concerns honestly, i would love to give them a higher rating but until they get more consistency from their chefs and their staff, it is what it is... read more

I don't know why I have ever been here more than once. It is terrible every time, but location and hunger seems to cloud my judgement every time. For some specifics: the artichoke hearts are drenched in oil (I understand they are deep fried, but these are disgustingly saturated with oil), the steak is never cooked the way we order, and even the soup and salads are disappointing. Not bad for a Clovis/Fresno chain. I can't really think of anything major to complain about really, everything I had was pretty good. The rolls were good, and I'm always a fan of whipped herb butter. Didn't try the beans as beans are not my thing. My steak was good, I had the whiskey peppercorn steak. The whiskey bbq sauce that came with it was not very good, too sweet, but they serve it on the side so you can just ignore it. The steak didn't need it anyway as it had good flavor already. Sides were fine as well. I was VERY pleased to see that they caught on to the small dessert thing (Mimi's is the only other place I've seen doing it). You see, after eating a large dinner, the last thing I want to eat is a chocolate cake slice the size of my head with two scoops of ice cream, which is what most chain restaurantsoffer. Here, they offer the mega desserts, but they also offer these "mini-desserts" for $2-3. I had one with a small (3 bites or less) lemon bar and a small scoop of ice cream. Perfect way to end a large meal. The service was good, our waiter was attentive without hovering too much, and we never felt rushed to hurry up and get out of there, like you sometimes get at Outback or Tahoe Joe's when they're busy. The wait for a table for 2 was about 30 minutes, but that's normal on a Friday night. Great experience First time there and will definitely be back. The service alone was great. Robin was our waitress. We took our two granddaughters to dinner. She treated them like people instead of an inconvenience. She was very attentive but not in an annoying way. When we were done eating there was no pressure to hurry up, pay and leave. We could hear other servers at tables as well using the same professional and courteous service. We had the western ribeye and ribs. All four meals cooked just right. Only thing that didn't wow us was the nachos; cheeses kind of skimpy and only in the center of chips. Would've been nice if the cheeses was spread throughout the cheese. Over all it was great. I live in the Bay area and came to the Fresno area to visit some family last Friday night. I have never been to Cool Hand Luke's so when a family member suggested it, I was up for the adventure. I ordered the Rib eye and it was cooked to perfection! The staff was super friendly and very accommodating (I have twin toddlers so they got our food out quickly so that my kids didn't go crazy while they waited which I really appreciated!) On the way out the manager thanked us for coming in and seemed very genuine! I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely return!! read more

I had the pleasure of being the recipient of just about the BEST Michelada (red beers) in the valley this past winter. Ever since then, all I could do is wait in anticipation of being able to come in again and order this fine adult brew. Well after about 6 months, I made it back in. My review is focused on the bar and bartender. 5 stars indeed! The red beer is what got me the first time, but the happy hour prices and food are what prompted this lavishing of bbq-sauced compliments. $3, $4 and $5 will get you just about anything that you need in terms of cravings. The sizzling steak bites were divine. Melt-in-your-mouth beef woohs me every time. Don't underestimate the power of excellent tri-tip strips on skewers. I believe this was called T-N-T? Can't recall the name, but my eyes opened wide when I saw the portion size. It was 3 or 4 skewers of folded tri-tip slices smothered with that fabulous sauce, topped with sweet grilled onions and sliced jalapenos. It was a match made in heaven. One of the best things about this place is the tremendous level of service that Tim the Bartender provides. Cool, funny, skilled and just a master at what he does. Would happily return every Sunday if I lived in town. When they say it's the coolest joint in town, they live up to that claim. read more

The bar is well organized and the prices are reasonable, especially during happy hour. Bring a friend and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to have a conversation while you eat. Years pass and nostalgia brought my wife and I back to Cool Hand Luke's. What a colossal mistake. The prices had gone up quite a bit so I thought maybe they fixed their food...nope! My roasted chicken was comically dry. Picture the turkey from Christmas Vacation. My mash potatoes were equally dry. The only thing that wasn't dry was the soggy fries and mushy corn on the cob. Oh...and the piece of shoe leather they tried to pass off to my wife as steak was uneatable. Avoid this high priced Woolworths diner food at all cost. The waitress was great though. We are always treated really great when we go to CHL. The bar has a nice atmosphere for watching games and hanging out. I have never had a bad server- everyone seems to be customer service oriented. What used to be a great place to eat has turned into one of the worst. The service was horrible from start to finish. We had a large party for a birthday celebration, so we made a reservation for a certain time. Even though all of our party was there well before the reservation time, we still had to wait over 20 minutes past to be seated. When we were seated, we were stuck in a back room all by ourselves, and forgotten. We had to send someone to get a waitress to take our orders. When our food came, most of it wasn't hot, and a couple of the orders were wrong. Once the food was dropped off, our waitress disappeared. We had a short wait for a table. The restaurant was clean, the servers were pleasant and courteous. We had a clean booth and prompt service. They brought us our drinks quickly and the orders were taken within a reasonable amount of time after sitting. The food was hot and delicious. Ordered a New York steak that I doubt was really a New York cut at all - it was thin (only about 1/4 in thick) and grisly, loaded with sinews and fat. I had ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. The salad before the meal was lettuce and onion...no tomato, cucumber or anything...just some sad lettuce. This was my first and last visit. The steak was flavorless and over charred. It kind of tasted like sandpaper was in my mouth. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS when compared to Outback, which offers much more flavorful steak for much less money. I'd rather make the 30-minute drive across town than dump another $35 here.
