Cool Hand Luke's just isn't what it used to be. We've come a few times and left unsatisfied. They used to have great steaks and now I just feel like the quality is lacking. Their bar is ok, the area is decorated in a western theme and the service is good, they have pretty much any drink you'd like and the appetizers are good. First visit I split a strip with my mom who wanted it medium and we got it mooing off the plate.. cold clam chowder.. and $13 for an add on of the nastiest fried shrimp I ever tried.. ever.. and the bar drinks are HORRIBLE! I do not understand as they used to have an amazing bar?? Second visit we visited the bar area before our table and again.. horrible drinks.. like tap water with syrup and tang type drinks.. it was weird. Always a real treat to visit here when we're in town. Spectacular menu with fair and reasonable prices, awesome service, and the steaks are top notch. I wish they started a salad bar though as even though you have salad or soup with the steak and seafood meals I've always wanted more salad with all the accoutrements (dressings, garbanzos, tomatoes, etc) but probably just a dream. We live in Southern California but travel every four months to the Clovis area to visit family. We were seated right away. LED down a very dark hallway, into a very dark dining area, had to ask to sit where there was more light! Iced tea and coffee served up quickly. After some difficulty with menu we decided on the Tri tip sandwich with chicken pot pie soup and fries. I ordered the prime rib French dip also with chicken pot pie soup and fries. We also got a pot of delicious beans, and hot rolls with butter. Very good! Then our soup came within minutes, and our meal shortly after, seeming like we got it all together. Backing up, the soup was amazing, the spices perfect! It was steaming hot and very creamy, I would say it was the best I have had!. My sandwich looked beautiful, but I was already full. So I came home. I would love to go back and just have soup, rolls and beans! It would be perfect! MY sandwich is picture perfect so I am sure it will be good. We will have to go back, hoping for better service. We were never offered more drinks, we had to ask for take home containers 3 times, and we noticed the people next to us had asked for dressing and gravy on the side and they had to send three item back because they didn't do as asked. The manager treated me horrible and was rude and very unprofessional. All because I wanted the blue cheese topper I ordered wasn't on my 40 something Dollar steak and I asked to get it melted on there. She said she would bring me some blue cheese, I said I'd like it to be melted on my steak. She told me she'd bring me some melted blue cheese in a plastic ramekin, I again said that I'd really like it to be melted on my steak the way I ordered it please. She reluctantly took my plate walked out of her way to the bar and told the bartender to charge me for a blue cheese topper. To which the bartender replied that she did when she put in the order. The manager didn't like that, she took my plate to the back smeared some blue cheese on my steak did not melt it and came right back and almost threw my plate down. It looked like shit and I said hay but was didn't stop on her way to the back. I called the bartender over and told her the the lady was extremely rude and I wasn't going to eat my steak she said she still had to charge me for my salad and tea. Two weeks in a row my husband and me went for dinner and drinks. Two weeks in a row the service was horrible!! Waitresses don't come back to refill drinks, waitresses completely forgot about our drinks sitting at the bar, never received them. Waitresses never checked in with us to make sure the food we received was okay and when we asked for our bill and a box, it took them at least 10 minutes to get the bill and instead of bringing us both items, they were brought separately like an after thought. Was in town on business and needing a solo dinner. searching for a down home beef dinner place. Decided on Cool Hand Lukes bs the other establishment across the street. Went to the tavern to watch a game and have my meal. Reviewed the dinner menu and wasn't really inspired by any of the offerings and the prices on the items were a bit steep. Fortunately I discovered the all day happy hour menu and wow. I workers the poppers, and steak tacos. Then had the fried artichoke hearts and sliders more deliciousness. We stopped by Cool Hand Luke's in Clovis for happy hour and were honestly shocked by the new prices. Happy hour used to be a fun and affordable way to grab a drink and a quick bite, but the portions compared to the cost are hard to justify now. $9 for four small chicken wing portions and $9 for two cheeseburger sliders feels excessive for what's essentially bar snacks. Drinks have also gone up about $1 each. We enjoy the atmosphere and the staff has always been friendly, but the value just isn't there anymore. A 50% jump on some of the happy hour items really changes the experience. Unfortunately, unless the pricing improves, it's not somewhere we'll be choosing for happy hour anymore. read more

This is a solid 3 star. It has the feel of a Texas restaurant type of place and the look of it. The service was amazing. Connor did a great job serving our table. That's as far as this place goes. I guess since it's a restaurant then it should be known for its food. So really, this place should be a 2 star. Portions were a good size (minus the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. Don't get this if you're hungry.) But NONE of the food was that great. Felt like I was at a college campus eating dinner at their cafeteria. I don't know how else to describe it. Service was super slow. Took over 20 minutes after we were seated for a waitress to take our order. She told us she was busy, walked by our table but never stopped to check on us. Didn't give us drink refills, plates for bread or appetizer while we waited almost an hour for our food to arrive right before they were going to close. Only thing that was warm on our plates were the potatoes. Meat was cold, sandwich had been warm since the cheese was melted but by the time I got it everything was cold. It was loud so hard to get her attention until she walked by and I yelled at her. She brought her manager over who offered to have everything remade fresh so it would be nice and hot. Apparently that meant warmed in the microwave. Got the same meat, which had been medium rare and now shoe leather. Avocado and lettuce on sandwich are brown and wilted. However, everything is now hot. Took over an hour and a half and charged over $100 for inedible food. Never going back! read more

I went in for a late lunch today. No one was at the front desk. No one was working at the bar for a full 10 minutes. I actually had to walk in the kitchen to find the bartender. He looked like he had slept in his clothes. My first clue that I should not have eaten there today was the front door it's filthy dirty where people grab the door to open it The entrance floor is sticky and the place smell smells old and dirty. I went back in and sat at the bar several minutes past before the bartender showed up. There were dirty glasses all over the south end of the bar at least three dozen glasses and plates. There is a someone's plate that had finished their lunch and left it on the bar. I should have turned around and walked out at that point, but I was so hungry I ordered a sandwich. It was completely blah, and one end of the bread was dry and stale. The only thing that was edible on the plate were the french fries they were quite good. I ordered club soda because I never drink and drive and they charged me $4.50 for club soda right! I've never been charged in a restaurant for carbonated water EVER! Cool Hand Luke's is permanently off my list of restaurants. read more

We hosted an event/luncheon here and the room they provided for us had more than enough room for 15+ people, two 6 foot displays, and two 2 feet displays, and still had a lot of space left. The managers were very accommodating and the service was impeccable. Since we did have an event here, we had a different menu, we had the "Lunch Banquet Menu." I'll post a photo of it. They started us out with the Bread Rolls and Chilli Dip and then I ordered the BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich & the Steakhouse Cobb Salad. The rolls were made fresh and they were so good, the tri tip was so tender it melted in your mouth and the salad was fresh as well and the steak chunks in it tasted amazing. read more

I came to Cool Hand Luke's on 8/20/22 to celebrate a birthday a co worker was having. This was my first time here. It was a party of 8 of us. Upon entering I was greeted and I was so surprised of how packed this place was! It appeared clean and smelled good. I already ate before arriving and mostly just wanted a cocktail. They have a solid happy hour which was nice and the drinks I wanted they ran out of :( so o ended up with the Mai Tai which was a pretty tasty and good! The service was alright as they forgot about my cocktail several times. The food was not to my liking as the beans were cold and bland. The bacon wrap shrimp was delicious and that's all I got. It was flavorful! Who doesn't like bacon!!?? The rest of group appeared to be mix about the food but overall I think we just enjoyed each other's company, The server was fabulous and so sweet! Great experience at cool hand lukes! We went on a Monday at a odd time of the day for us, but this just happened to be the time that worked best. It was about 2:30. Not realizing they were not open til 3:00. We only had to wait 10 minutes by the time we got there but I'm glad we didn't try to go at lunchtime. FYI hours are: Mon - Thurs: 3 pm - 9 pm Fri - Sat: 12 pm - 10 pm Sun: 12 pm - 9 pm Love the inside of this restaurant. They have comfortable booths with very tall backs and dim lighting. The decor is fun with kind of a upscale western theme. Our server Nikki was great! Very attentive and checked to see if we needed anything several times. We came to try the early dinners (entrees under $15) and they were very good just smaller portions. Our adult son ordered the wrangler burger and said it was one of the best burgers he's had and he's eaten lots of burgers from several places. We also ordered the special $5 drinks. They looked good but were a little strong. Probably not for you if you want a top shelf liquor but great for $5. read more

I really wanted to like this spot more but it was overall pretty underwhelming. It appears that they are short staffed, but thankfully the servers were all helpful and kind! From the top I noticed that our menus were a bit sticky so that didn't set a great tone for our experience. Food was okay, my favorite was the sizzling steak bites, but the food quantity and quality just didn't quite match up with the price we were paying. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the free house rolls and the campfire beans more than I expected, they were well seasoned and pretty delightful to snack on before our meal. Onion blossom: 1/5 I was so disappointed in this app. It seemed like it was pre-battered and frozen and just refried. There was hardly any onion within the batter and the entire bottom half was just soaking in oil which made it inedible. I wish it was at least sitting on some rack so the oil had room to drip off. Sizzling Steak bite: 4/5 Tasted great and I really enjoyed the mushrooms on this, just wish we had a little more for the price Calamari: 2/5 If I had known this would come out as a "steak" I would not have ordered it. Me and my wifey eat here up to once a week. Food has always been pretty good service. It depends on who you get. You can be great or bad. But my last two times there I've had really bad service very slow brought our food out and it was cold and I'm handicapped in a wheelchair and they stuck me in a spot where every time somebody came by and elbow from them would whack me in the shoulder or the head. My wife suit is cold. My food is cold and it's just really disappointing. I mentioned it politely nothing was offered. The response was oh. I just know nothing has been offered for the food that was cold and we ended up leaving with about 70% of our food still sitting on the plate pay the bill left. Do you think somebody offered a discount or come back some other time the meals on us nope So I will do this review see if anybody responds if they won't or don't, then I will keep the review up and I will not eat there in the future read more

We recently had a birthday party for my 84 year old uncle at Cool Hand Lukes. We expected 19 but due to foggy weather only 14 showed up. We had Jack as our server who was amazing in answering menu questions, handling drink orders and making sure the various dishes we wanted were as ordered. He worked the back room for larger groups and 2 birthday parties were going on at the same time. He was friendly, actively listened to each of us, and continually checked on us as to how we were doing and if we needed anything. Patient, polite, smiling and kidding with us as he took our orders and delivered food. Jack was amazing and deserved the large tip I left him with a note on the receipt for great food and fantastic service. He thanked each of us upon leaving and smiled asking for us to please request him again when we return. We definitely will. 5 stars for great food. 10 stars for Jack and his excellent service and sense of humor. Refreshing to have such excellent service in the Fresno/Clovis area again. read more

I went to Cool Hand Luke's for lunch today with my hubby. The prices have really risen. Couldn't believe I. I had the shrimp trip and I don't know what happened but the coconut shrimp was over cooked but besides that it put me in the bathroom for awhile. I had water with ice. The meal was very Very disappointing The hub had the ribs and shrimp with a strawberry lemonade. He had the same problem twice.. so beware. I don't know even the beans were different. The rolls were the best thing at lunch. Our server Taylor was the best. Efficient and kind. She's very good at her job. I won't be going back to this restaurant anytime soon or not at all. read more

Our family came here last night for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. Overall it was slightly above average. If I could give it 3 1/2 stars, I would. We had a party of 10 and ordered a whole lot of different items on the menu. The place wasn't that busy, but they struggled to get the food out at the same time. As they were bringing out the salads, they brought 3 of the entrees. Then about 5 minutes later, they brought 5 more entrees. A few minutes after that, my son got his meal and a few minutes after that, my mom got hers. While she wasn't thrilled by the wait, she said that her calamari steak was excellent. My wife ordered the Steakhouse Cobb, which she said was good, while I ordered the Texas Shrimp Trio with a fully loaded baked potato. As you can see, the presentation and plating of my meal was incredible (magazine quality). My only suggestions on this would have been to include cocktail sauce on the plate and find another dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp. It was sweet, but then the dipping sauce was also sweet, which was system overload. The sautéed shrimp was excellent and all three types of shrimp were cooked perfectly. All in all, it was a good experience, but for the price probably wouldn't be my first choice in the future. read more
