Syrniki with Cheese & Dill Classic Syrniki Honey Cake (Medovik)
Natalie O.

Finally got to try this place! We got the classic and dill and chives syrniki. I personally preferred the dill and chives! Also got a slice of honey cake and each bite was indulgent. Service was great! The menu was explained to us with recommendations and they brought the food to us. I also watched them bring out a menu out to an older couple to take their order which I thought was so sweet of them. Decent amount of seating and we enjoyed seating outside since it was a nice day.

Chicken & Mushroom Crepes

Who would have expected this plaza to have such a great coffee shop? That's Cool Beans. And it's not just a coffee shop, it's Russian inspired with the food they serve. From pancakes to crepes to shakshuka, it's all a delightful menu to eat while you drink coffee. The chicken and mushroom crepes were incredibly light yet rich and savory, I'm not sure how that works but it does. There was a nice balance of chicken, mushroom, and crepe so nothing overpowered the other. The sauce was also pretty bomb too. Maybe next time I'll get the other food items on the menu. I opted for a citrus matcha this time around which was also nice and light. For whatever reason, the theme is light and for asians, that's a win.

Real cute cafe that serves food, coffee and teas. I learned about it through The Fleuria Mobile Bookstore. I had a matcha and the avocado toast and they were delicious. I will definitely be back. I ordered a book and that's the pick up spot. A perfect excuse to sit down, relax and eat again!

Cute little cafe hidden in this plaza. I got the avocado toast something so simple tasted so good lol. Came with a small salad as well 10/10. I also ordered a matcha and asked for mango puree. The matcha was okay id give 5/10. They have some small seating inside and few tiny tables outside. The parking wasnt too bad it is a small lot tho.

Raf Apple & Kiwi Honey Cake (Medovik) Chia Seed Syrniki
Shamika M.

Coffee was good, tried the RAF and it was tasty. The star of our visit was the mango chia seed syrniki and the honey cake. These 2 were beyond amazing and were so good, my son and I ate them slowly to savor the flavors lol. Service was perfection and we felt so welcomed and loved the little nook area to sit and eat in. I totally didn't expect to walk in and think I could have a meal here but man was I pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to go back.

Offering standout hospitality, delicious food and drinks, and an easy parking lot, this Russian cafe-meets-coffee shop is my new obsession! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with genuine warmth - special shoutout to Adis, who is super friendly and welcoming! FOOD (5/5) - Shakshuka: Mmm..two eggs poached in a rich, spiced tomato sauce, served with bread that's perfect for mopping up the savory goodness! Seventh heaven warm comfort food! - Syrniki: it was our first time trying Russian cheese pancakes, and they were yummy! Fluffy cottage cheese, lightly crisped edges, berries, and a dash of sweetness. - Honey Cake (Medovik): do not leave without trying the delicately sweet, many-layered honey cake! - Hojicha Latte: wash it all down with this smooth, nutty Japanese green tea blended with milk. SERVICE (5/5) Adis' smiling hello and knowledgeable recommendations made our visit such a pleasure! He surprised our niece with a gorgeous handmade origami napkin rose - what a truly thoughtful human being! AMBIENCE (4/5) Indoor and outdoor seating - including a delightful cushioned corner nook - as well as a super cute Fleuria romance bookshelf - make for a cozy and clean vibe. Highly, highly recommend Cool Beans for brunch, lunch, or just because!

Medovik & basque cheesecake
Brenda L.

The good: I tried the syrniki, medovik, shakshuka, hojicha latte and basque cheesecake. Everything was so delicious. I liked how the tea latte wasn't sweet. The honey flavor of the medovik stood out. The basque cheesecake was fluffy and tasted like flan. It was superb. I don't know anywhere else in Torrance area where you can get syrniki or medovik. This made my Ukrainian husband happy (and me too!). The syrniki was fluffy and had nice fresh fruit and yogurt. The pastries seemed to be fresh. The shakshuka came super hot and with toasty sourdough bread. I wonder if they sell whole cakes as well. They had a lot of matcha drink options. They sell stickers and keychains inside too. The bad: They were out of crepes that day. The interesting: The interior has 3-4 small tables and a corner nook area. Outside there are 4 small tables but you can combine them to make a larger seating area.

Cozy cute. Warm, welcoming customer service. The servers are eager to help and give tasteful recommendations. Love the mango chia seed Syriniki, along with the cheese, dill Syriniki. Savory Shakshouka, too. Top notch cafe beverages adorned with adorable latte art makes it hard to want to drink your top notch cafe beverage it's so cute.

I'm in love with their Honey Cake aka Medovik. It's been days since I've had it and I'm still dreaming of it. It's not too sweet and pairs well with coffee or tea. You can see the different layers. I counted at least 12. Their white chocolate cookie was good too, soft and chewy. I'll be back. Give this cute shop a visit. You won't be disappointed.

So I had to return after coming for the Yelp elite event. The nice server had given me a couple of coupons for a free croissant when you buy a coffee. I really wanted to return for a sit down breakfast but since I had errands to run I only could grab a hojicha latte, honey cake, and the free croissant. I liked the hojicha latte because it had lower caffeine level and also the earthy and rich tone. It's very different from matcha and I think I like it more. The croissant was a regular croissant but oh man the honey cake was sooo good. The portion is larger than I expected and I really didn't think I would be able to eat in in one sitting but I totally did. The layers of cake and cream fit so perfectly This visit I noticed the book shelves. I didn't ask about that but it's definitely a nice place to sit, eat your breakfast, and read a book. I think that will be my next visit

Fantastic honey cake + avocado toast + some of the friendliest staff ever! We love coming here bc of the cozy vibes and delicious food. It's hard to come across quaint coffee shops in Walteria, but thank goodness we have one now!

Hojicha Latte
Paula L.

Cool Beans in Torrance has such a cozy, inviting ambiance - the kind of café where you can relax with friends or get some quiet time with a book. They've got a great selection of coffee, teas, and specialty drinks along with fresh pastries and light bites. I tried the Hojicha Latte and it was absolutely delicious -- smooth, nutty, and perfectly balanced. The berry croissant was also very good, flaky with just the right touch of sweetness. It was not overly sweet, which I liked. The next time I'm back, I'd love to try the other drinks as well as the Syrniki, Shakshuka, and Honey Cake. The service was also friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. The only downside of this place was the location. It's located right in the middle between Hawthorne and Crenshaw, on PCH...which is not really convenient. It's definitely a place I'd like to grab another drink, or have breakfast/lunch at, so I'll definitely be back.

I come here often with my daughter. We love this place. The honey cake is amazing, super soft and not too sweet. Matcha is always really good too. Cozy vibe and friendly staff. Definitely one of our favorite spots

You can tell they put a lot of effort into their food and drinks. As for the ambiance, it's perfect for those who want to hang out and catch up with friends/family or to study. When I visited, there were easily 5 other groups and individuals studying here. I have a big soft spot for banana flavored items. A BIG SOFT SPOT. Banana Cream Pie Latte - this one carries the biggest punch for banana lovers. Banana cream the entire way from start to finish. Not too sweet. Awesome foam top too. I highly recommend drinking these without the straw. Foam top drinks are best appreciated when you get a nice 50:50 ratio of the foam and drink. Banana Matcha Latte - the name speaks for itself. It's a nice mixture of both. So if you're looking to feel a little healthier with the matcha element, then go for it. This was probably the prettiest drink of the 3 that we had. Americano - delicious and got the job done here. I naturally enjoy Ethiopian and Colombian beans. I brew them often at home. I was definitely wide awake after these drinks lol Strawberrynana Waffle - If you LOVE belgian-style waffles like me, then you'll find yourself ordering this again and again. It wasn't too sweet but sweet enough to easily go through 2 or 3 of these plates if you're crazy enough. Banana Walnut Honey Bread - the best for last! I really loved eating brick toast growing up. There were so many stores back in the day that sold them, and now I can't find them as easily. In fact, Caffe Bene is the only place in the South Bay that I know that sells them. This one brought me back to the past and put a gigantic smile on my face. Delicious, perfectly sweet, balanced, and finished wanting more. Highly recommend!

One thing was immediately clear: everyone was ordering the snowstorm. Most people seemed to go with either the matcha or the original, though they also had other flavors like sesame. Naturally we followed the crowd and ordered the matcha. It's matcha soft serve topped with chestnuts, and it turned out to be a great little pre-dinner snack -- creamy, earthy, and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was that they carry different types of chestnuts. I preferred the smaller ones, which were softer, more moist, and sweeter. The larger ones were firmer, but you can buy them already peeled, which honestly feels like a luxury if you've ever battled chestnut shells before. It's a quirky specialty shop, but a fun one to browse. And judging by the number of snowstorms coming out of the kitchen, that's clearly the move here.

Hisaya Kyoto specializes in all things chestnuts, including soft serve chestnuts, and chestnut baked goodies. I came on a hot day and got their vanilla and chestnut soft serve on a cone. I also got one of their chestnut cakes. The ice cream was very creamy and definitely a good treat after my lunch. The small cake was not too sweet and light. It had some sweetened chestnuts inside which was really nice. It came out hot and went well with the ice cream. They also have cookies, donuts, and a variety of ice creams as well. They also have drinks like their chestnut milk too. For soft serve they have their fuji soft serves which comes with toppings. I want to come back to try their other items. The people behind the counter wasn't the friendliest and out items took awhile. The inside is small and casual and not really anywhere to sit. But they do have seating outside. There is plenty of parking since it is on a strip mall.

The Thai tea was nicely balanced and not overly sweet, and the Jasmine tea was fragrant, thick, and perfect at 50% sweetness. That said, it's good enough for a place to go when you're on somewhat of a budget. The Dubai Chocolate Frappe was a semi-let down because the advertisement photo looked like it had a lot of chocolate. When I got my order, my first reaction was..."is that it?" The first several sips lacked the chocolate flavor I was anticipating but it was a fairly decent drink. It definitely would have been better with more chocolate as advertised. The Beef Teriyaki Bowl was a generous size; again, it was good enough. The TTEK-BOKKI (Korean Spicy Rice Cake) was extremely filling especially with cheese (which was a $3 up charge). Not sure I'd get this one again if I came back because the price point and the quality just didn't match. Parking is easy and free since it's in a complex with a now abandoned Rite-Aid. Even so, I'm not completely sure I'd come back since this place is small and the setup seems so cramped. It lacked the vibe I thought it would have based on social media posts. The staff could use a bit more energy and enthusiasm like other spots that offer similar items.
