We arrived at First Flight Coffee close to 3 pm and it was still pretty busy, with a few people in line and others waiting for their orders. The parking lot is pretty small, but we got lucky and snagged a spot right up front. I love the decor and theme of this cafe. Everything is flight-themed, which makes the space feel so cute and unique. The menu is also pretty big, and there were so many drinks that caught our attention. We ended up ordering the Jasmine Matcha Cloud and Earl Grey Matcha. The Jasmine Matcha Cloud was amazing and easily my favorite of the two. I'd probably get it a little less sweet next time if possible, but even at the regular sweetness, I really enjoyed it. The Earl Grey Matcha wasn't bad either, but it wasn't particularly memorable for me and was also a little sweeter than I prefer. Overall, I really enjoyed First Flight Coffee. This place had a line out the door and was super packed inside too. We came when some friends wanted to grab a drink there. There were only a few tables and benches inside a somewhat L-shaped shop with a very narrow hall and one all gender restroom available. To be honest, I don't know what the hype was about. I ordered a golden hour expresso tonic and the frozen matcha. Both were good, but nothing that was inherently unique from other coffeeshops. My matcha was smoothly blended but definitely more on the milky side. My husband's tonic was refreshing and slightly citrusy, but not different than tonics we've tried at other shops. Due to the small space and random amounts of people standing around and just chatting and hanging inside the shop, I wouldn't come again unless it's a quick grab and go. From of the shop had some chairs by the entrance and a few tables right by the service counter, but there's a narrow hallway leading to more seats towards the back of the shop. Overall, it's a minimalistic shop - but by no means, a bad thing at all! The First Flight Matcha Latte's taste was so so clean and simplistic. The cold foam was so light & bouncy, which really complemented the ceremonial grade matcha they use here. I had trouble deciding between this vs. the French Toast Latte on their espresso menu. I'm glad I tried the signature matcha first and I now have a definitive reason to come back. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu! read more

2.5 stars $7.25 for their French toast latte... and it didn't even taste like French toast! I thought this was at least going to taste like a French toast latte if not have some cinnamon toast crunch on top or something. It was very bitter and left a horrible after taste in my mouth. The cold foam was tasty but it didn't blend with the drink at all so it's kind of moot and no matter how rigorously I stirred it did not blend. The coffee and bottom really had no flavor other than bitter. Not sure if this is a fluke or this place just isn't for me. i visited on a saturday an hour before closing, and it was still pretty busy. the cafe is somewhat small with limited seating, but they have guest wifi if you plan on getting work done there. the cafe has such cool decorations, including a live flight tracker on the wall - such a cool aviation touch! service was friendly and quick, and it took about 5 minutes for my drink to come out. i ordered a first flight matcha (matcha latte with matcha cold foam) and substituted for oat milk. the color was excellent, but unfortunately, the flavor and quality of the matcha powder didn't stand out for me. the matcha tasted almost grainy and oxidized, and it easily separates if you let the drink sit for longer than 10 minutes. it definitely does not taste freshly hand-whisked sadly. it's also shocking to me that a dairy-free milk substitution is a whole $1 extra?! it seems steep for the quality of drink i received. overall, i loved the ambiance of the cafe, but this is personally a one-time visit only :( read more

It seems like the café changed the recipe for their First Flight matcha, as it's a lot stronger and thicker than what I had before. Now, it's one of the top matcha einspänners I enjoy! Favorite matcha in Torrance. Pretty competitive taste-wise to Yeems in Gardena. I always come here over all the other matcha spots in Torrance when I need a pick me up. Clean cafe with efficient, helpful staff. The Yuzu Espresso Tonic was so refreshing. I don't like sugary drinks, so the friendly crew member recommended replacing their usual sweetened tonic water with unsweetened, and reducing the yuzu to 75%. He said the yuzu flavoring is sweet too, but reducing it lessens the flavor as well as the sweetness. He mentioned they could add more yuzu later if I wanted. I appreciate the options presented clearly with the flexibility built in. And the original 75% recommendation turned out to be the perfect balance! SUPER YUMMY! I don't know how they make their drinks so addictive, but I will be coming here very often. This is by far my favorite matcha spot I've tried in the South Bay, and has a richer, smoother matcha flavor than comparable nearby cafes if that's what you're looking for. Their jasmine matcha cloud is my favorite and I had to get another after finishing my first one. The jasmine tea is very floral and perfectly compliments the matcha foam. I also loved the first flight matcha, but the coconut matcha even more so. It's really hard to find a place that 1. has good coconut water and 2. has matcha strong enough that it doesn't get diluted by the coconut water. First Flight Coffee does both of these perfectly and will always be my go-to spot in the South Bay for coconut matcha. Only downsides are that the parking lot sucks to get out of (especially if you plan on going west or north), but it's very easy to take a small detour. There isn't too much seating inside if you plan on studying so it's more of a grab and go place. Overall, I wish I could give this place more stars! read more

This was my favorite coffee shop in Torrance until today. Unfortunately, our experience with the owner was extremely disappointing. We order the Spanish latte here all the time, and it has always come with a cream top without us having to ask for it. Today, when our drinks came without it, we politely asked if we could get the cream top. The owner immediately responded with an attitude and told us that the Spanish latte doesn't come with it. We explained that we order it all the time and have always received it with the cream top without asking. Instead of simply clearing up the misunderstanding, she insisted that we "probably asked for it" before. I'm an adult, I know what I ordered and whether or not I asked for something. The way she spoke to us was unnecessarily rude and dismissive over something so minor. It's especially disappointing because we've been regular customers and genuinely liked this place. Your employees have always been great, but the owner's attitude today was incredibly unprofessional. If this is how you're going to treat your regular customers, you're better off letting your employees run the shop. read more

This coffee shop is super cute and modern, it's very kitsch with all the airport designed things inside. We were greeted when we came in and they have a loyalty program , which I think is great. I had the first flight matcha and it was excellent perfectly balanced and creamy and the right amount of sweetness. I've driven by here several times and finally stopped by on a weekend to give them a try. I got their First Flight Matcha with their matcha foam. I asked for it less sweet and paired with the foam on top, it had a nice balance of bitter/sweet to it. I think I still prefer Yeem's matcha, but this is a great alternative if you're in the area and aren't planning to go into Gardena.
