This place is truly wonderful! I was rushing to visit my grandma this afternoon at the hospital who isn't doing well. My grandma loves mochi with kinako and I had heard this place just opened up today so stopped by on the way and was hoping beyond reason (after all, it's the soft opening for a shop with 5 stars on yelp) to maybe pick up something, anything they might have left from today to bring to my grandma. Got there to see a "Sold Out" sign, but then someone came to the door, and when I told him my situation, without hesitation, he asked me what she would want, went in the back and they made us way more than I could have asked or even hoped for. Got to sit down and share this amazing mochi and a special moment with my grandma at the hospital tonight, and am beyond grateful they went out of their way for me for no reason at all other than to be kind. Come check this place out because it was by far the softest and chewiest and most delicious mochi  I've ever had, but also come support them because it's run by some genuinely kind and amazingly gracious people! Warabimochi is such a unique treat, and I'm so excited to have a local spot that makes it fresh! Truthfully, I had never heard of it before, and my only experiences with mochi have been a) rice flour with red bean and b) ice cream. Traditional mochi isn't much my taste, but turns out warabimochi is! I got the 5 pc box in the Matcha flavor ($9.50), as well as the Mochi Strawberry Matcha Latte ($7.25). The price of the box is a bit high, but it is so worth it! The matcha is plentiful and the mochi itself is sizable. I ate half the day I got it, and had the rest the next day in a cup of milk mixed with the leftover matcha powder. The separate brown sugar syrup (kuromitsu) lets you adjust the sweetness to your preferred level. So good! However, the drink fell flat for me. It tasted like a standard strawberry matcha, but the size is on the smaller side. The selling point was the included mochi, but it was difficult to discern. Overall, it wasn't anything special, and I think spending a few dollars more to get a 5pc box is a better value. Inside, there's a couple of large tables and high chair seating. I would personally recommend taking your treats to go, as all the powder could get messy without having a small plate or bowl to eat off of. You could just eat out of the box, but if you're sharing, or just want to make sure no loose powder falls, transferring to a plate is helpful. In regards to service, there is room for improvement. I had to clarify my order a few times, and it still ended up being partially incorrect. Unfortunately, I was in a time crunch so I couldn't stay to get it fixed. It also seemed like the staff had trouble explaining what warabimochi was to the customers who were asking questions. Maybe posting some informational signs throughout the space would help? Excited to try this place out since it was hyped on Instagram. I got the 5 pc mochi box; kinako ($8.50) and matcha ($9.80). Also got a mochi starberry matcha latte ($7.75) but with almond milk (+$1). With tax and tip, I paid over $35. Mochis were good. Kinako was my favorite between matcha and kinako. Also cheaper too. The mochis are large. Hard to break them into smaller pieces. Wish they can do 10 small pieces rather than 5 large pieces. My friends all agreed as well as a different friend who went previously. I super disappointed into the strawberry matcha drink. The one i got was supposed to be more thicker or foamier or something. It tastes watered down, I barely taste the matcha. They gotta add more matcha or something. Only the strawberry was sweet and not the rest of the drink. Overall it was bland. I really love the interior tho. Menu is easy to read. Disappointed that several items on the menu are "Coming soon". I can't wait to try out the ice cream. Seatings are very limited, we ended up eating outside of chipotle. If they can add some small table and chairs outside, that would be amazing! Came here specifically for the mochi and it did not disappoint! Crazy texture! Super soft and chewy yet surprisingly the inside melts in the mouth. Originally thought I didn't need to add the brown sugar sauce because it was already at a good sweet level but adding it made the matcha/brown sugar combo unique. I like how generous the matcha powder was left after finishing the mochi. I was able to make a matcha smoothie the next day with it :D Overall cute spot and easy parking. They have mochi boxes, matcha drinks, lemonades and other drinks. I got the mochi strawberry matcha latte it was very good if you like mochi this addition to the matcha and strawberry are very good. I'm not really sure what it is I bought, but I'm always up for trying new things. I was next door buying a Boba and saw the sign for this place. I was intrigued on what Kamakura was so I went in to check it out. It seems this place is new so the staff seemed a little all over the place. When I asked what it was, I didn't get a really good response besides it is like Mochi and slightly sweet. I figured I'd give it a try since I like Mochi. Well I wasn't super impressed with the results. It has some weird powder on it, not sure what it is. The texture is like mochi but much much softer. It wasn't very sweet but they give you this small bottle of something to dribble on top. I had no idea what it was so I asked before I left. One of the staff members said it tasted like a brown sugar glaze. Not sure I would come back to get more, but it was an interesting experience. Came here around 3pm on a Saturday and the line wasn't too bad. We got the mochi hojicha cloud, mochi strawberry matcha latte, and the matcha warabimochi. Our friends let us try their kinako warabimochi. The hojicha cloud was pretty good. The hojicha was quite sweet and the taste wasn't very strong. I think they make their cloud with whole milk and hojicha and blend it together, so the hojicha is already pretty diluted. The mochi pieces were also very small and at first I thought I didn't get any haha. I'd give this drink a 6/10 because I wanted a stronger hojicha flavor, will definitely have to try the regular latte tho to compare. My friend got the mochi strawberry matcha latte. The flavor wasn't very strong good and he had a lot of mochi in his drink, maybe because he got a large while I got a medium. 8/10. The matcha mochi was delicious. It was a bit bitter from the matcha powder, but the mochi came with a small bottle of this brown sugar syrup that went super well with the mochi, 8/10. Our friends let us try their kinako warabimochi. I loved the nutty flavor, and the flavor was stronger than the matcha one, 9/10. Next time I'd rather get the kinako over the matcha mochi. The price of the drinks was quite a lot for what it was, but I think the mochi was very reasonably priced. The store is very small with a few standing tables you can put your food on. I came opening day 7/17 but in the afternoon. There is a line but the wait wasn't too bad. I waited 30-40 mins total. I got 2 drinks: Mochi strawberry matcha latte: The matcha is pretty good. I got it regular sweet and I was worried it would be too sweet but it's actually perfect. It wasn't super sweet to me (but I do have a sweet tooth). The matcha flavor isn't super strong though. Mochi Hojicha cloud: This drink was sweeter. A lot sweeter than the matcha actually but I didn't mind it. I actually loved this drink more than the matcha. I think it's a little more unique. The difference between cloud and latte is that cloud has a cream top with milk vs latte is just the milk. That's what it appears to be. The medium size drink is a bit small so you can upgrade to the large but I do think prices are on the higher side for a matcha drink. Black sesame warabimochi: Super soft and nutty flavor. I sent my fiancée to get the mochi and matcha drinks. We ordered: Mochi matcha latte, mochi strawberry matcha latte and the 5 pc order of the kinako mochi. All of the drinks had the sweetness level set at 50% sweet by standard. I'm not sure if that's because of the reviews on yelp... or it was always that way and the baristas just didn't know during grand opening weekend.. Mochi matcha latte - I think this would've been perfect if they didn't forget to add the mochi in the drink... and yes, we looked at the receipt and the drink tag to make sure the right order was placed. Without the mochi, it just tasted like an unsweetened matcha latte. I was pretty bummed out but we live a bit away to drive back and have it fixed. Mochi strawberry matcha latte - delicious! It was perfectly sweet, the mochi tasted so good and the matcha was good too. The matcha is very light but the caffeine strength is STRONG. If you have high caffeine tolerance, get the large. Otherwise, you'll probably be fine with the regular size. Kinako mochi - SOOOO GOOD. It was soft and chewy, the kuromitsu sweetener that it came with gave it the perfect sweetness (a few drops was all it needed). Reminds me of the mochi I had in Japan. However, the pieces were really big compared to the cube size we tried in Japan. Overall, I'd come back for the kinako mochi! I'm just really sad that they messed up on my drink. I came for the first day of the grand opening and got there exactly at 11 when they opened and stood in line for an hour and a half, but it was all worth it! They ran out of tumblers, but I was there to try their warabimochi (kinako and matcha), and their drinks (Mochi Hojicha and Mochi Matcha latte). Please note that the "mochi" is the warabimochi (I'm assuming) but it's crushed so they are like little soft noodly chunks aaaaand it's sweetened in the yummy brown sugar flavor. I got 25% sweet on all the drinks and it was perfect - I will probably do 0% next time since the mochi is sweet already. Anyway this place is a must - the warabimochi is fire - super soft and freshly made. My go to is kinako but the matcha is sooo good too! Got here a bit earlier and there was a line. Many people came to try it out. Service was quick. I was worried the drinks would take forever but I only waited about 6-9 min at most?! So very surprised they were smooth and efficient. They apologized for the wait once you ordered, but I told them, "no you guys are doing great!" Got kinako and matcha mochi the 5 piece. They are yummy. We broke each mochi in thirds for bite size and to grab more of the powder for each bite. And it was perfect for us. The mochi is quite big. The powder does get everywhere but very delicious! Also got strawberry matcha latte and mochi hojicha latte. Drinks are sweet for their default amount. I asked for less ice but still good amount of ice. I'll do less ice than the default next time. It has the mochi in the drink and it's very yummy. Checked out Warabimochi Kamakura on opening day, and as expected, the place was absolutely bustling! Despite the massive crowds and the opening day chaos, the staff remained incredibly friendly and efficient. They specialize in authentic Japanese sweets and supposedly import their goods straight from Kamakura, Kanagawa; and you can really taste that high quality. They have a ton of drink choices, including mixed matcha and mochi options along with lemonades. I love that you can get warabimochi right in the drinks, and they even offer great hojicha add-ons if you want to mix up the flavor profiles. I visited this establishment today, July 31, 2026, for the second time because I had really enjoyed their matcha on my first visit. I had even recommended it to my coworkers and family. Unfortunately, today's customer service experience was extremely disappointing. When I entered, two customers were standing near the register looking at the menu and appeared to still be deciding. Since I already knew what I wanted, I stepped forward and ordered a Mochi Strawberry Matcha Cloud. The cashier was using her personal phone when I approached. She entered the order, read something back to me, and I paid. When my drink was ready, I was given a Mochi Matcha Cloud Latte without strawberry. I explained that I had ordered the strawberry version. The cashier immediately responded that she had read the order back to me and that the receipt showed a regular Matcha Cloud Latte. I did not want to argue about who was at fault. I understood that there may have been a miscommunication, especially since the cashier was on her phone when I ordered. I simply asked whether the drink could be corrected. Both employees initially said no because the drink matched the receipt, and I was told I would need to purchase another drink. Rather than pay twice, I said I would take the drink as it was. The cashier then said they could make an exception but added that I had cut in front of the other customers and that what I had done was incorrect. This felt unnecessary and inappropriate. If she believed the other customers were ahead of me, she could have politely addressed it when I approached the register by asking whether they were ready to order. Instead, she accepted my order and raised the issue later while disputing my drink order. I immediately turned around and apologized to the other customers because cutting in front of them was never my intention. At that point, I felt as though I was being blamed and scolded rather than assisted. I asked for the cashier's name and the manager's name and learned that the cashier, Miraya, was the manager. Another employee was initially reluctant to provide that information. I was surprised that the manager herself had handled a simple order mix-up in such an argumentative and authoritative manner. I ultimately spoke with the owner, Yoshi, and explained what had occurred. The matcha itself is good, and that is why I returned. However, good products do not excuse poor customer service. A minor order misunderstanding could have been resolved calmly and professionally without repeatedly blaming the customer or bringing up an unrelated concern after the fact. I hope the owner provides the manager and staff with additional customer-service training, including how to handle order discrepancies, communicate respectfully, and de-escalate situations. This interaction never needed to become as unpleasant as it did. I simply wanted the drink I believed I had ordered--not to be questioned, blamed, and reprimanded. read more

The matcha was good, albeit a bit sweet, so I recommend getting it in 75%. The mochi matcha latte cloud and the mochi sparkling lemonade were both delicious.
