First of all: my mawm loves their cappuccino (and she is not easy to please...). We cannot walk past this place without her doing that "just a quick stop" lie. Suddenly we're inside and she's ordering coffee like it's a survival necessity. Honestly, respect. The coffee smell alone? 12/10 nose experience. Now let's talk about the breads. They are... SQUARE. I don't know why this is important to hoomans, but apparently it is because they SELL OUT ALL THE TIME. Suspicious. Highly pupular. I have concluded these breads must be extremely delicious, even though I have been cruelly denied a full scientific taste test (I got crumbs. I remember. I will never forget). The staff? Very friendly to us pups. No weird vibes. Solid ear-scratch energy. They pass the sniff test. The vibe: Very Japanese-inspired. Clean, cozy, minimal. I don't fully understand it, but I did feel like I went on a quick international trip without leaving my leash radius. One moment I'm in California, next moment I'm a worldly pup. AND--big bonus--there's a little front patio where I can sit like the distinguished pupper I am and watch the traffic on Pacific Coast Highway. Nothing like enjoying the view of fast-moving cars while waiting for bread I cannot legally eat. The irony is not lost on me. Final verdict: Great coffee (according to mawm), mysterious square breads (according to the entire hooman population), and a pup-approved hangout spot. Would return. Would stare at bread again. Definitely try to go earlier because they sell out of things (I went around 1pm and they sold out of a few things). - The vibe of the place was soooo cute, nice, and clean. They really used the space well with all the seating and outdoor area. - There is a small parking lot up the hill behind the building. - all the staff except the barista that day were super nice! - plain iced latte with oat milk was solid. Not mind blowing but still good. Room for improvement: - the drinks were very mid and not worth the price (basically $9). I'm sure the quality of matcha powder is exceptional; however, the ratio to milk was very off and it was so milky you could barely taste the matcha. The barista that day was kind of rude to the customer in front of me and when I asked a question about their Hot Drink Tokyo Fog, he brushed off the question and shortly replied it was an iced tea. - there's a bottleneck at the cash register because of the workflow. The register person takes orders, cashes out, cleans and refills the trays, wraps each of your baked goods, and probably more. So there ends up being a longer wait there even if you're only grabbing 1 baked good, I ended up waiting a lot longer than I thought I would. Stopped by for a quick coffee and bread break, and it was such a cozy little spot. The matcha bread was soft, fluffy, and lightly sweet with a rich matcha flavor that wasn't too overpowering. The texture was perfectly baked with a slightly crisp outside and soft inside. We also tried another sweet bread that paired really well with the coffee. Their best item is the curry cube bread. Big chunks of beef inside with some traditional curry sauce. Very savory and tasty even at home after toasting it in the air fryer. The bacon version didn't have enough bacon and was a little boring with nothing inside after eating the curry version. The melon pan was best fresh. The earl grey was a little too subtle. Fig focaccia would have been better if the bread was softer. It was a little tough to eat. The Americano was excellent because of how strong it was. Some inside and outdoor seating. Highlights: the honey toast was definitely delicious, crispy caramelized edges and soft chewy bread. Grab and go for this alone, price point is okay at $5.6 for each cube. Their tiramisu latte was good as well but for $8 it didn't stand out enough to justify the price. Wouldn't get the margarita pizza bread again, it was a little soggy. The other issue is that they really need to hire more servers, definitely a little congested to pay and order and be prepared to wait for drinks/food. Theres a few tables inside and out. This is a very cute café with great vibes and outdoor seating. There's a small parking lot in the back, plus street parking, though it's on a steep hill. I like that the front operates in a casual, self-serve style similar to Paris Baguette or 85°C, where you grab pastries with a tray and tongs. In the back, you can order drinks and entrees at the counter, and they'll bring everything out to your table. All of the staff were friendly, but I felt the pricing was a bit steep for what you get. A small hojicha latte was $8 and came out barely lukewarm. The clam chowder was also mostly potatoes and, again, not very hot. I'm someone who really prefers my food and drinks served hot, so that part was disappointing. That said, I did enjoy the soft bread bowl the chowder came in. My husband ordered the ginger pork sandwich, and once again, the highlight was the bread. Overall, if I were to return, I'd probably just grab pastries to go. This is a nice counter service bakery with fresh breakfast brunch lunch menu meal items. The main disposition isn't about the quality of the food at all, it's quite delicious, but it's more of the value perception (or reality) of the the prices and portions, which quite honestly is a subjective perception or rather opinion. I feel the portions can increase by 1/3 more OR the prices can be lowered by 30% and that feels like a justified sweet spot for this place to thrive. The Japanese Curry in the Bread Loaf Bowl was good, but at $22, it felt quite expensive given the lack of robust substance to the entree that lacked a quantity of meat and vegetables to be appetite fulfilling. It came with a side salad and I felt the entree was worth more like $12 to $15 as being right priced. The super cute spot has very helpful staff. We got a few pieces from the self serve section and ordered lattes and food from the counter. The bread is perfect and like a cloud. Came here Sunday morning. There were couple people inside and not crowded. There were enough breads for everyone. It seems like they make small batches at a time and refill the shelves constantly. I got the Mou ($6.40), Mou edamame/bacon ($5.40), Mou matcha ($5.40), Mou chocolate ($5.40), and iced blueberry matcha latte ($8.90). i paid $40 for 4 bread and a drink (with tax and tip). Super pricey. The smaller Mou is 3" cube of bread. The edamame and bacon is my favorite. Bread is super soft and delicious. But wish there's more bacon and it wasn't crispy at all. Matcha Mou was very good but the chocolate Mou was just okay. The blueberry matcha was okay. The matcha powder was unsweetened and was light. Blueberry was insanely sweet. Visited while looking for a place to get some work and morning reading done while in town. It all started with readily available parking in the nearby neighborhood. I had the iced hojicha latte, while others had other drinks and tried the mou. I don't really have a prior parallel to compare the bread to, but it seems like it is their specialty, and it served as a nice snack to go with the drink! Service was prompt and very polite, though there were only two other patrons when we were there. I imagine that it wouldn't be too different with more people around. The inside space is nice, especially with some counter seating with outlets AND wi-fi AND some of the most comfortable high chairs with backs that I've ever sat in at a coffee shop. We ended up sitting in the outdoor seating outside because it was a nice day, which was nice if you're OK with the sound of passing car traffic on PCH, and the wafts of the taco place across the street. I was excited to try this bakery's signature mou bread. They were smaller than I thought in person, but very filling! I went on a Sunday in the afternoon, so it seemed like the curry mou had sold out already? But I got to try two other ones, the mou is super fluffy even though it looks dense! The place had plenty of seating for a small bakery and even had hooks at their tables for your purse. I tried a lot of the new items at Bread, Espresso &. The Mou bread topped with clam chowder and another topped with beef curry are all house made and will leave you wanting more. I also ordered their new Hojicha Latte and Dirty Chai. We stopped by after passing by itso many times as we live 5 minutes away. We assumed it was just a bakery, which it is, but turns out they have a wine + dine menu as well for evenings. We got to try both bakery and dining items, and was very impressed with the quality of everything. For the the bakery items, we tried: Mentaiko & Butter Mou Bread, Prosciutto Mozzarella Panini. Mentaiko Mou Bread was the standout, just amazing umami flavor. For the wine + dine menu, we tried: Charcuterie Board, Shrimp Ajillo w/ Bread, Japanese Hamburger Steak. The hamburger steak was definitely my fave. They had some nice selections of wine and it went very well with the food. This is a fairly new Japanese bakery that opened this past year in Redondo Beach. I decided to wait until the hype died down after I heard how there were crazy long lines during opening week with their breads selling out super early. Fortunately, when I went yesterday, there were no lines and still a wide variety of breads available! I got their chocolate mou bread, curry mou bread, earl grey melon bread, hojicha cream bread, and matcha melon bread. My daughter and I loved the chocolate mou bread! It was soft and fluffy and not too sweet which is a key factor in delicious Asian breads! I also enjoyed the matcha melon bread which had a super soft bottom and a crunchy dome-like top with sugar crystals on it. Delicious! I also tried their iced dirty chai latte which was very good and pretty balanced although a bit on the sweet side. I'd recommend it though if you like chai, cinnamon and star anise flavors. There's a good amount of seating inside with tables as well as counter style seating. I saw several people there getting work done. They also have a few tables outside in their front patio. A very interesting concept bakery, with bread cubes full of flavor being the main draw. I was enticed by the Japanese-styled baked goods, however only a few were truly worth writing about in my visit. The honey pan was very good, however the pizza and matcha pan weren't as well done as I expected. I came during the morning time when you'd think a bakery would have fresh goods, but the French Toast isn't available until 10 am. On the plus side, the servers are very helpful and friendly. It makes me think that whatever shortcomings this place might have will be fixed in a matter of time. One issue I have with this place is the price. A lot of the breakfasts sets start well over $12 which seems overpriced for relatively simple ingredients. I think some of the items might be oversized too. At least I'd take a smaller, cheaper version of any of their sandwiches. The inside is cozy with many seats and easy to access food items that might make you going back for seconds. The chairs were a little weak to me, though. I'd like to try this place again during peak hours for a full experience. read more

The service was awesome. The food was great and delicious, we had the smoked salmon panini made perfect and crispy. The smoked salmon was flavored and not too salty. The raspberry desert and the Nutella one was delicious. The only thing I didn't like and couldn't drink it was the dirty chai coffee. They put the chai and all the spices in the coffee (see photo) and I couldn't drink it without feeling like I was eating hay with each sip. That is just way too much to swallow, literally. We asked what's the difference between dirty chai and regular chai and she said espresso, but I didn't know I was gonna get a bunch of specs of the spices each time I took a drink that was not pleasant. Overall, everything was delicious. Everything was good. But get there early everything was pretty much sold out by 2:00pm. I would've loved to enjoy my dirty chai coffee, but I'll know better not to ask for that and ask for the regular chai. I wanted the espresso so that's why I chose the dirty chai giving the definition of the difference. There are so many things I want to try here so we will be back since sold out of practically everything. That's that Bread, Espresso (&)! I've been hearing good things about Bread, Espresso & from my coworker and finally made it out to Redondo Beach for a quick visit. The place is much smaller than I had expected but gives super cute Japanese cafe vibes. I visited in the middle of the day, and their pastry cases were about half full. I grabbed the honey mou, matcha mou, and their famous custard mou. I also grabbed one of their toast plates, the mentaiko toast plate to be exact, which comes with toast topped with mentaiko, salad, a small side yogurt parfait. For drinks, I ordered their matcha latte with vanilla syrup for sweetener. I ate my plate in store and all my other breads to go. The mentaiko toast honestly wasn't anything that special. The mentaiko was kind of a hard blob that was hard to spread on my toast. The mou bread itself is good though--super soft on the inside but slightly toasty on the outside. It is a bit difficult to cut with a fork and knife though. Salad and yogurt were decent. When I received my matcha latte though, I already knew by the dull green color that it wasn't going to be good. And I was right. If you're a matcha enthusiast, skip the matcha, because you're bound to be disappointed. You won't get the earthy, umami flavor profile you're used to. I had the honey mou a few hours later, and it was quite delightful. Buttery, soft, not super sweet, it's the perfect representation of an Asian pastry. The matcha mou is also good. Oddly enough, I wasn't super impressed by their signature custard mou, but maybe it's because I ate it a day later straight out of my fridge. Not sure if I was supposed to toast it since it was in the store fridge when I picked it up. It wasn't bad though, but I didn't see the hype. Parking is limited. There is a small lot behind the building, or you can park on the street in the neighborhood next the store (it's on a hill though). Service was decent though; you could tell that the workers/managers wanted their customers to feel welcome and comfortable. Overall, I wasn't super impressed. The only thing I'd really come back for is the honey mou, but I wouldn't go out of my way to grab it. Skip the meals, skip the drinks. Came here for breakfast for the first time, we were blown away!! Is it only street parking, but not hard to look for. When you walk in, there are bakery items to choose from on the left. There were so many options in the menu! We tried the French toast plate. It was hands down the best French toast I've ever eaten! It was piping hot to begin with haha. Very soft, fluffy, and delicious! The salad and meats also tasted top quality! I order the honey and butter toast from the bakery! I really really enjoyed it. The parking is a little tricky, I parked in back just slightly up the hill but I'm not honestly sure if that is part of their parking, but it was about 10am and not very busy so I think I got lucky with parking. Their melon pan was good, I'd just do without the sugar on top as I'm not a huge fan of turbunado sugar on anything. The Hojicha cream pan was delicious! I saw a friend trying cubed bread on social media and this place popped up and I was super excited to find it close by. So of course we had to go check it out. I decided I just wanted to try the pastries this time and I got three different flavors. I tried the raspberry jam and whip, Matcha, and cranberries & nuts. They are the perfect size to try or to share. Honestly, I just ate them as is I did not put anything on them. I also ate them room temperature. I did not heat them up to nibble on them while I was having my dirty Matcha latte. I'm writing this as I finish up the last of their new jalapeño cheese mou. I was pleasantly surprised as the sides of the cube are slightly crispy while keeping the inside insanely soft. The jalapeño provided a slight kick, but doesn't ruin the pastry. Honey mou and any of their croissants when they have it are also my faves! The iced dirty chai here is also really good. I get it every time. It might have something to do with the fact that they make their own chai concentrate in house. Yum! read more

Lovely Japanese Bakery Café in Redondo Beach that's worth visiting for breakfast/brunch! I visited this bakery café for breakfast on an early Saturday morning and my experience here was great! For food I had the Toast Plate Mou with French Toast and it was delicious and well-balanced. The star of the show was the french toast which was made with their specialty bread. It was not too sweet, custardy, crunchy and delicious. My friend said it was a bit too heavy for her, but I really enjoyed it! The meats were delicious as well. The sausage had a nice snap to it and I loved the lean cut of bacon. The side salad was nice and crispy and the yogurt parfait was pretty tart, but still enjoyable. Overall, a well-rounded breakfast. I also had it with the iced matcha latte and it was great as well. The drink wasn't milky and had a good volume of matcha. While I tend to like my matcha drinks on the sweeter side, this drink was a good balance between bitter and sweet. I also like how it was not too icy. The interior was clean and nice with a good amount of seating. There was even wifi and outlets there, so a good spot to do work. The service was good and the servers were polite and friendly. For parking, I'm unsure if there's a designated lot, but I found street parking since I came early in the day. Overall, a great experience here!! There's been a lot of buzz about bread, the newest being this mou, the newest dough to hit the beach cities by storm. So much hype, and I think for good reason! Their simple little cube of plain bread has such a perfect texture, airy but chewy mochi. The smaller cubes house ingredients savory and sweet, ranging from salty, savory curry beef and a fragrant, fatty bacon edamame to a sweet red bean or a mild custard. With its reputation of running out of the breads before noon due to popular demand, we arrived at the store before10AM (trying to avoid the disappointment of going home empty handed). The small bakery is located on the corner of PCH and Avenue E, inside it is clean and with seating for 15 people. There are also 4 tables outside. We ordered Curry, Matcha and Edamame MOU cube breads, and Pineapple and Coconut Brioche. All 3 petite cubic breads were super fresh with soft crust, and silky crumb. The curry filling was savory and quite flavorful. The matcha filling had red beans and lightly sweet. The Edamame was the most plain of 3 but still quite good. The Coconut and Pineapple Brioche had a nice crust, and the filling on top had pieces of pineapple. Not too sweet and quite delightful. The only deterring factor preventing my more frequent visits is the prices which were on the high side. Still, I will visit the store often, maybe not as often as I would like. read more

Been wanting to check out this bakery and finally made my way over last week. Got there around 11am and everything was sold out! Well almost everything. Apparently their machines were down for the day so they weren't able to bake much. They did have some bread left so I tried the matcha pan and chocolate pan. Bread was soft on the since but the salt on top didn't do much for it. Their iced americano was really good though! There's some inside seating as well as outside. It had the most flavor - savory, comforting, and deeply satisfying - and really stood out, especially if you enjoy meat-forward fillings. The mou edamame & bacon was lighter and more subtle, while the mou corn & sausage balanced sweet and savory nicely. They also offer premium drinks and other bakery items, which I didn't try this time but would be interested in exploring on a return visit. When I went, it was raining, and indoor seating was a bit limited, so we ended up taking everything to go. Even so, the space felt comfortable and relaxing - the interior is clean and simple in a thoughtful way, calm and uncluttered - and there's also an outdoor patio for nicer days. It's not inexpensive, but the quality and execution make it feel like a deliberate, premium bakery experience. Came here for their mou. Got the custard one (refrigerated).... Yum! Also got some mou and melon pan to go. Unexpectedly, my favorite is the cheese savory mou and I'm a sweet desserts & bread kinda girl. Also got the matcha latte. Staff were very nice. Plenty of seating. read more

What a fabulous addition to Redondo Beach! The blueberry matcha and honestly, all the pastries I've tried thus far, are all just fantastic! The skillet French toast was so good I promptly googled to see if I could find their recipe. read more

This Space is very industrial, but still very welcoming. It's Location right off PCH puts it right in a busy area in Redondo. I was greeted when coming in , and selected a Chocolate Mou and then ordered a Matcha Latte and Classic Drip. Matcha Latte was very grassy and good quality , I had it sweetened with Vanilla Syrup and it was really good Classic Drip was full bodied and good. The Cafe is impeccably clean, and I saw a few people working on their lap tops , will be back soon to check out more of the food items read more
