Been coming here since I was a little kid and the quality is still as good as way back when!

I had an extremely disappointing experience today. I purchased three orders of pretzels: two orders of pretzel bites (one hot dog and one cinnamon) and, before leaving Kings Plaza Mall, I even went back to purchase an additional cinnamon pretzel. When I got to my car and started eating, I discovered a hair baked directly into one of the hot dog pretzel bites. Needless to say, I immediately returned to the store. Instead of being met with an apology and understanding, I felt like I was given a hard time for being upset. I explained to the two employees that I was frustrated because there was hair in my food, and literally had to return after leaving the mall? yet the focus quickly became my attitude instead of the fact that a customer had just found hair in something they purchased. One of the employees identified herself as the manager. While I was there, I observed her preparing pretzels in the back without a hairnet. When I questioned her about it, she claimed she had one on, but she was not wearing one at that time. That made the situation even more concerning. No apology about that. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was initially met with defensiveness and simply told to call the mall. Only after I repeatedly requested a supervisor's information did the manager provide me with a business card. Expletives were used at me by the cashier which was down right rude because I wanted to use expletives as well and didn't go there. To make matters worse, the refund process was handled poorly. The manager appeared confused about my order and the amount that needed to be refunded, gave me the wrong refund amount twice, and I ultimately had to pull up my transaction on my banking app and help her calculate what I was owed. My refund was then handed to me with little professionalism or concern for the situation. Finding hair in food is unacceptable, but what made this experience worse was the complete lack of accountability, empathy, and professionalism afterward. A sincere apology, proper food safety practices, and respectful customer service would have gone a long way. I will be following up with the owner because customers should be able to trust that proper food safety standards are being followed and that legitimate concerns will be taken seriously. In all the years I have shopped here and never experienced this behavior from an employee. read more

Might be nostalgia or might be the amazing aroma that comes from here filling up half the mall but these cookies are delicious every single time!! Since I was a kid, this has been a go to during shopping trip and even nowadays. It is definitely pricey per lb so you'll definitely feel it per cookie but each bite is perfection. My favorites are original chocolate chip and macadamia white chocolate. 100% get if you're nearby. read more

I swore I'd left a review for this place years ago, but here we go again. The cookie house is a staple in King's Plaza mall and almost a rite of passage when you visit here. After withstanding temperatures that rival the deserts of Arizona and getting stuck in dead zones for phone service.... a cookie or 2 from here is a reward. They usually weigh everything out unless it's a specific item like brownies where they are per they are per item cost. Everything is always fresh, as they are constantly baking. One is never enough, and the smell permeates through the air of the mall so it's impossible to not stop and take a look, and once you've done that. Great place to stop and satisfy your sugar urge while shopping at the Kings Plaza Mall. They have a huge assortment of cookies with nuts. They have also now added pretzels to the menu. They can be a little pricey, but it is worth it. My one and only favorite is chocolate chip with pecans. I do have a nut allergy, but pecans Thank Goodness is not one of them. I went here on Saturday 12/28 and used my card. I did not use my bank card anywhere else in the mall, as the rest of my transactions were even exchanges. This cookie and pretzel house do grubhub orders. We've been home on vacation I haven't used my card in the past few days post holiday- this was the only place. I do NOT and have never had a grubhub account. Today 12/30 I have over $400 in charges the first 5 started out as minor grubhub charges. THE COOKIE HOUSE LIVES No longer in its hut in the middle of the food court, the Cookie House is now a storefront. While the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies isn't as all encompassing as it was years ago due to the placement of the ovens further away from the counter, that familar smell still lingers in the air nearby. The counter staff was just fine contrary to what other have said or just "heard" in their postings on Yelp, even though I had a small order. I would like to try their pretzels sometime, but I had just eaten at Nathan's and it was time for a serious dessert. The chocolate chip cookies were as good as when I was a kid. When they're fresh and oozing chocolate, they're among the best cookies I've had. And I am a fucking cookie monster. I wish I had gotten a half pound just of these instead of a half pound total. The chocolate chip peanut butter, double chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin were also great examples of their respective genuses. There was definitely an element of nostaglia walking home with these in the bag; I couldn't stop looking through the bag's window. But I was shocked that this institution has held up so well in less-than-ideal conditions for all these years. To those who won't come here because it isn't "gourmet" or "authentic" enough for you, well do us all a favor and stay away! Eat your overpriced, overrated junk in Manhattan, and leave great places like this to real people like the ones who have posted here. Authenticity is the biggest bullshit buzzword that people like to throw without even knowing what it means (runner-up is taste). Authenticity is about more than fufilling an archtype which may or may not be accurate/applicable: it's about honesty. The name of the business is Cookie House. I remember coming here as a kid and during my teen years, and it brought back so many memories. Once I started to smell the cookies, I knew I had to get some. I got 1/2 lb. of chocolate chip and they are just as tasty as I remembered. I didn't have any stale/hard cookies like some of the other reviews, maybe I just lucked out I guess. It's hard to walk past the Cookie House in the mall and not want to have some cookies! My favorite is the old fashioned style but you can't go wrong with any type. Just be careful the pricing is by the 1/2 pound so it can get a bit expensive. They also have great smoothys and fresh pop'd popcorn. For breakfast they have an assortment of muffins, bagels and rolls. A must stop by when in the mall. read more

As someone who grew up on the goodness of the Cookie House as a kid, I know the difference between what was and what now is. The taste is pretty much the same but the cutbacks on the size of the cookies and the ingredients do not account for the increase in prices. I without a doubt do not expect prices to remain the same but the cookies are literally half the size of what they used to be at double the cost. Ever since Kings Plaza was built, Cookie House has there. As a ritual from day one, I NEVER left Kings Plaza without buying cookies from here. After many years of not shopping at Kings Plaza, my friend and I went shopping in KP and I said to him, I refuse to leave this mall without their cookies. Today has not only reinforced my impression of Cookie House's tasty fresh cookies but most of all the honest customer service. After purchasing my cookies I walked a few steps away at about 5:45 pm with my ATM card when a cashier hurried over and handed me my wallet that I left at the counter. I wish I knew what her name was, but I thank her. Her honesty and integrity is forever imprinted in my soul. She knows who she is and I hope her boss reads this and gives her a raise.! read more

You know the saying your eyes are bigger than your stomach? Well, that's what always happen to me when I buy cookies here. They have a nice variety of cookies you can choose from ie white chocolate chip macadamia nuts, chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, etc. my favorite is the red velvet cookie, there are pieces of white chocolate inside just the way I like it. You can mix and match, it's $6.75 for 1/2 pound but I always go over. They give it to you in a bag that has a little plastic window to see your chosen cookies. I like the size of the cookies, it's not too big where you are limited to one but are bigger than your bite size cookies. Good thing I don't know the calorie count for them! read more

omgosh i love this place.. when i was younger, it was too expensive to get the whole pound so we'd usually only get a few cookies in that plain white bag :( Now that i am older, the cookies are more expensive, but i get myself the bag that represents where i got the cookies from =)* The chocolate chip are my favorite, but they have chocolate chip with peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, etc and they always taste so homemade. There's usually a line, but it's worth it! I prefer them to be a little chewier, but many times they are more crispy. Not too sweet, not too soft, the only problem is how easy it is to eat so many that you feel like laying down and dying afterward. But hey, waddaya gonna do. As for the guy below who called these "fast food cookies" and suggested that people should go to a "real bakery" instead, that same guy also has glowing reviews for crap 'gourmet' gentrification bandwagon businesses like "Cafe Grumpy" in Park Slope (which sells a $12 cup of coffee) and the Shake Shack in the city (which is nowhere NEAR as good as its lemming fans claim). The Cookie House used to literally be a tiny house-shaped booth in the middle of the floor in Kings Plaza. It got so popular that it needed to expand to a bigger space. That space is its current location, and they've also expanded their menu to include pretzels. I've been coming here since I was little, and while I've seen the prices jump over the years, I'd gladly take a bag of cookies from here over Mrs. Fields'. They're chewy, not mushy. They have a really good bite to them, and that smell! How can I describe it...ok, you know how sometimes, in cartoons, the smell takes the shape of a hand and caresses your face and does that come hither motion? I swear that happens here. Every time. Came here on a friends recommendation that is s pastry chef so I trusted her judgement! I had to pick up cookies - or something to bring to a party today and thought cookies are fun and delish!! So of course I didn't have anything to eat except for my usual shake for breakfast - yes I can be a health nut at times! So I start off with greens and fruit juicing with vegan protein...
