The first time we went in July there was a power outage but we still managed to get our food and everything was fire. Our server was sweet. The lamb chops Rockefeller was the highlight but the Mac was a close second. The vibe gave what it should have. It's real cute and def a spot where you wanna take pics. Our second visit this past weekend (8/23) we went for brunch. I had the biscoff chicken and waffles and she had the peach cobbler chicken and waffles. Both were fire but the biscoff took the cake. The chicken was flavorful. Drinks was hitting. DJ was on point. Our server each time was amazing. The manager came by to check in. So far Confessions 2 and 0. No complaints whatsoever.

Honey truffle chicken.

The food was okay. The appetizers were way better than the main entrees. We had the spicy peach wings and the spicy hummus was delicious but Honey Truffle Chicken I could have done without. Love the DJ the atmosphere was great. Service was okay. Waitress seemed like she wasn't interested when we declined $600 bottle service. We will think about returning. Especially for those wings!

Still water before the turn up!!!

What a great experience! First time here, for a private event. It's kinda upscale, but has hookah which is a bit casual for me. Service was great in the private room. Orders were a little slow coming out, but well worth the wait. The food was piping hot and delicious! The private space is beautifully decorated. Pricing is moderate. The space offers various opportunities for photos and selfies. Outside of a private event I feel the environment is for a younger crowd, which includes choices of music. It is a bit loud, even in the private space. Not sure if the volume is adjustable. But we still had a great time celebrating my daughter.

We got here as they opened at 4:00 p.m. One thing that was disappointing was that they're supposed to welcome guests with a complimentary glass of champagne, but we were told they had already run out. That was surprising considering they had just opened. They also ran out of sparkling water. If you're advertising a complimentary drink, I'd expect inventory to be checked and stocked before opening for the day. Other than that, we had a really good experience. We went on Tuesday for the special where you buy two drinks and get a salad, entrée, and dessert included. It was definitely worth it! The drinks were strong, and the food was delicious. Parking was easy with the attached garage, and the restaurant validated the first two hours. Valet is also available if you prefer. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was beautiful; the décor is gorgeous and the music was great. They also offer hookah, although we didn't partake. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

Upon entry we were greeted with a glass of champagne which was such a nice touch. The ambiance was nice, they played confessions by usher about 10 times but overall aesthetically pleasing. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. Now, we walked out of there and reflected thinking -- we just got robbed. $180 for a shared entree, appetizer, side & 2 drinks is fine I guess but the quality has to match and this wasn't it. The strawberry wings had no depth in flavor just wings tossed in strawberry jam. No seasoning, no spice, no salt, no thought. Stick to the regular flavors - and fyi the strawberry will be on in your nails for the next 24 hours. The lamb Rockefeller was innovative but just didn't hit for me. Maybe if the topping was a bit more charred but it was like spinach dip on top of lamb chops. The Mac and cheese was solid, but nothing boxed Mac & cheese can't do. You're there for the ambiance, not the food. While the food is edible, for the price point you can find way better food in Houston. If I return I'd sit at the bar & get hookah with 1 appetizer.

If you are in Houston, get reservations and go to Confessions! You won't be disappointed! In fact you may be inspired to make a confession now on to my review. The ambiance of this place hits you at the entrance with an astronaut and mirrors and it's slightly dark and mysterious. Many great photo opportunities. Then you are taken into the main space which is upscale but also whimsical with a life size Iron Man. There's also a balcony area that I'm sure will be a whole scene during the cooler months. We decided to get the mimosas tower, shrimp and grits, and donut burger and fries. The mimosas tower was amazing. The shrimp and grits were tasty. I didn't eat the donut, but the burger meat was delicious and the fries were tasty. Come to confessions and enjoy!

I love The tiny print confessions at the bottom!!! Well put. Well detailed! I'm rooting for this business to win!

Reminds a solid 3 stars. Parking is validated for 2 hours in self parking. The menu presentation has improved. The sides have decreased in texture. Particularly the candid yams, they were very sticky and difficult to chew. As if I was eating airhead candy, which I dislike it entirely. I had a salmon plate with a side of rice. Both was Al la cart portions and the rice portion was less than a kid size. For $8. Reminded me of the mouthwash cup size of jollaf rice from November's event.

Had brunch at Confessions Restaurant & Lounge and really enjoyed the experience. I ordered the chicken and cookie butter waffles, which came with four full wings and four mini waffles. The waffles were fluffy and delicious, and the chicken was seasoned well and flavorful. I also tried the martini and sangria and enjoyed both. The decor is gorgeous with a fun, girly vibe that makes the space feel perfect for a birthday brunch, girls' night, or celebration. There's also patio seating available if you want to sit outside. The music was a mix of 90s R&B at the perfect volume -- enough to set the mood without making it hard to have a conversation. Parking was easy with an attached garage available. Overall, such a cute brunch spot with great vibes, good food, and a fun atmosphere.

JOSHUA was A-MAZE-BALLS! Service was spectacular and the food was delicious. We had the steak and truffle fries special, along with the strawberry wings and beef bacon brussel sprouts. Love the atmosphere and music. Definitely will be back!

Definitely do not recommend coming here on a Tuesday! The worst customer service I've ever experienced and from female management! I came for my birthday and made reservations. One of my girlfriends was 36 weeks pregnant. It took an hour to get sat with a reservation! And then they sat us at a high top when there were lower tables available. When I requested to move they refused and told us we could sit outside though where it was super hot. I informed the manager of her almost falling and she did nothing. If anything she was extremely rude! Then I seen smaller groups than ours get sat at low tables! There was only 4 of us and they couldn't even accommodate us. Then the drinks were extremely overpriced, small food portions and super ratchet environment. The music was waaaaayyy toooo loud, you literally need to scream to speak to the person across the way. And there aren't any directions or signed on how to get to the building! So many ladies were lost. Oh and your whole party must be present before they seat you, even if one person is missing. Overall I DO NOT RECOMMEND'. Instagram videos made this place look legit, and it's not at all! Don't believe the hype, go somewhere else. I won't ever come back to this establishment and again don't recommend!

The food was cool , the drinks were a 10/10 . The sidechick will be my new fav drink! Service good . I did love the cheesecake . It's deff a favorite thing of mines . The champagne at the door is top tier and give a luxury feeling . It's always beautiful to see a black owned business doing well.

My friend and I came here on a whim and it was the best decision! We were greeted with complimentary champagne and sat at the bar. I love decor with the pink chairs and flowers above the bar. Our bartender was really nice and took our orders pretty fast. It was happy hour and I decided on the Cajun Chicken Flatbread and Spinach Dip. Both came out piping hot and delicious. The flatbread had great flavor and was perfectly crispy The spinach dip had great flavor as well and the pita was just right. When I'm back in Houston, this will definitely be a go to place for me!

Fabulous! Is one word to describe Confessions. This restaurant/lounge is meticulously decorated to the grandest it can be. Bright, eclectic vibe, very attractive restaurant inside and out. What makes this place special is not just the way they greet you, but the way they take their greeting up a notch by offering their guests a complimentary glass of champagne! Nice touch for sure! They offer outside and inside seating. Reservations are essential and will make your time there better with better aeating options. The way to access this place is by parking in the adjacent garage (Aspire), parking on the 2nd floor, walking in the direction towards Retails and taking the elevator to "2R". It will let you off right at their checkin desk. They do offer validation up to 2 hours. They offer limited seating while you wait. If coming with a party of people, it is best to make sure all members of your party are there, before they will seat you. They offer party rooms as well. Absolutely gorgeous spot for happy hour, birthday dinners, or just a night out. The music is a little too loud for a date night (if you're really trying to listen to your date...lol), but nice nonetheless. Bathrooms are beautifully decorated, which was a nice touch. I did feel that their pricing for entrees and sides was a bit high for their portion size, but the food was delicious. I selected the Salmon for my entree, this came on a bed of mashed potatoes. For the $40 cost, I feel it should have at least come with a vegetable side (i.e. their broccolini). The broccolini side by itself was $11!! This particular evening they were offering their Lychee Martinis for $1, so they made up for the lack of a vegetable with my entree. I came for a birthday dinner, so my table ordered up a lot of food. From what I tasted, it was very good. At one point in the evening, their system went down which made it challenging to pay for our meals, the elevators stopped working, and it felt like the air stopped working as well- but our Server and the rest of the Staff did their best they could to accommodate us. Things happen. I still had a great time and plan to return. Oh, and if you are in to hookah, they offer those options too. Enjoy!

Our server, Camille, took our order and then would disappear for 30+ minutes at a time. At one point, when we asked where she had been, she simply said she was "walking around." Her overall approach to serving us felt extremely nonchalant and inattentive. The atmosphere also made us feel as though the level of attention you receive depends on how much you're spending--particularly whether you're purchasing bottles. The servers seemed more focused on creating a bottle-service experience than providing attentive restaurant service. It gave the evening a very transactional, "pay for attention" feeling rather than genuine hospitality. What really sealed the experience for us happened after we had already paid our bill. A host approached our table and essentially said, "Can you leave now? We need to seat someone right now." There was no gracious transition, no "thank you for dining with us," and no polite explanation--just an abrupt request to leave. For a restaurant with such a beautiful ambiance and good food, the service and hospitality were incredibly disappointing. Guests should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they sit down until the moment they leave, regardless of whether they're ordering bottles.

The origami ceiling, lively bar, friendly staff, unique cocktails, fun bathroom, and photo booth in the corner made for an unforgettable experience. My friend said it was the busiest he had ever seen the place, and it was loud. But we got some awesome drinks that I swore I could've taken pics of -- the lighting was a little crazy, so I think I ultimately changed my mind with that. One was the periscope which was a refreshing and summery gin drink... And I think I tried the naked and famous too because I like mezcal. I had already eaten so I skipped the restaurant the speakeasy's connected to, but I cannot wait to return to Houston outside of a Con so I can really go all out on exploring. It was an amazing way to end my first night!

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

After a Sunday fun day, we were looking for a dinner spot in the area. My friend had been to Five…read moreCentral prior and sang its praises, so the group decided to check it out. We Ubered over, so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. Ambiance (3.5/5): Five Central is big! There's a big restaurant, a cigar lounge, a huge patio, and more. While we dined at the restaurant, it seems like there's a ton to check out here. They often will host live music too as I saw some ads about it while I was in the restroom. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was great. She was friendly, attentive, and she went above and beyond. They brought me the wrong side, and I told her it was okay, but she ended up bringing me the right side a few minutes later. Which meant my meal had three sides instead of the two it came with. I really appreciated that! Drinks (4/5): Five Central has a good list of cocktails and more, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I went with a Shirley Temple lol. That brought me back. One of my favorite beverages as a kid. They were out of maraschino cherries, but we made it work. Food (4/5): We started off by splitting the coconut curry wings and the parmesan chicken bites. Out of the two appetizers, the chicken bites were my favorite. They were fried just right, crispy, while still tender inside. The sauce smothered on top made the dish. The wings, on the other hand, while flavorful, were a bit small. Still good though. With that being said, the star of the evening was my entree: the fried chicken. Fried chicken is either going to be a hit or a miss... here, it's definitely a hit. Crispy and well-seasoned on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Served with a sweet hot sauce, Texas toast, and your choice of two sides. I went with fries and mashed potatoes. The sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were a buttery heaven and the fries were crisp and you could tell they weren't frozen. It's a generous portion size, too! I ate half and took the rest to-go. If you're looking for some Southern cooking, with love, Five Central is an awesome spot.
