Came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday around 7:30 pm. Parking is small but there is a valet for $10 or you can park on the street. You can enter through the patio and immediately you can catch a vibe. I saw a sign that says no casual wear so make sure you come in some heels or cute sandals. Music is playing nice ambience outside almost like a Tulum vibe. You can definitely come here for pictures and the aesthetic. I was greeted by our server her name was i believe Tasha or Taja? Very friendly and informative. She started us off with a round of drinks, i ordered the Burning Paradise which was PERFECT. It was like a spiked horchata. Drinks are between $17-$22 a piece so be prepared to spend if you plan on drinking. A friend ordered a glass of wine and she said it was like $30 for just a glass. We started with appetizers which were the elote corn, calamari, and fried cauliflower. 10/10 for each. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas which was $28 and it came with refried black beans and rice. Id give it about a 6/10. It was pretty basic for the price but it was flavorful. Rice was def the star, chicken seemed a bit dry. A friend ordered the shrimp pasta which imo was way better than my meal and it came in a large portion. If I was to dine here again id probably just order a bunch of appetizers and share with friends. I ordered a Strawberry Mango hookah which was about $35 as well and they did come and change the coals. Overall for just myself which was my drink, hookah, and meal i spent $106 and this is including the 20% gratuity charge. id give this place a 4/5. Maybe this is a spot more for like cocktail hour / lounge vibes rather than an actual restaurant. However I do recommend giving this place a try at least once. read more

Came here for a friends birthday and I was EXTREMELY disappointed. We had a reservation for 8 people, however when the party arrived, the hostess said that they had no tables for us at all. We asked if there was any seating indoors and they said no, when there were multiple open tables available. We then were told that they had seating outdoors. The seats out doors were incredibly dirty and even my seat was WET!! My entire dress was soaked! The service was also beyond horrible. We got water refills 1 hour after being here, and when dinner arrived, half our party received food 20 minutes later. We started off the evening with one server and a new server was immediately placed with us. Our server was really great, I had zero complaints with her. I do have issues with the hostess. She sucked and had zero care about our party. The food was okay, I had the birria enchilada and they were good. I don't plan on coming back. A note for the owners and manager: Get your staff in line and accommodate reservations that were placed weeks in advance. Also, have servers be more attentive to their guests. Dined in for a dinner date and was very surprised by the quality overall. This used to be Nomad and to see the renovations and way they've optimized the space was great. Our server was friendly and we were seated promptly. She table touched often and gave great recommendations. We started with the calamari as an appetizer. It was seasoned perfectly and crispy- accompanied by an aioli, marinara sauce, and jalapeño ranch. For entrees, we had the Tago pasta with shrimp and lamb chops. The shrimp was a bit soft but the pasta was seasoned well. The cucumber gimlet was my favorite cocktail. The mango suave was more sweeter than my liking but still delicious. The vibes overall made for a great date night. The only negative is that they do add 20% gratuity on all tabs (we were just a party of 2) so I would prepare for that. Tago was a great dinning experience. Our server truly was the MVP of the whole experience. Florence was so much fun and a great server. She took amazing care of us, really funny and so easy to talk to. The decor of the restaurant was very chill and it did have the vibe of a night in night on the beach in Mexico. On the night we visited there was no entertainment but Florence was so nice and awesome .We had just as much fun or more with just her taking care of us. The presentation of my enchiladas was a lot more basic than I was expecting. Given based on the vibe of the restaurant but they tasted great. I had the BEST time at Tago for a date night. We originally stopped by as a pregame for the night before heading off to dinner. But we had such a great time ended up staying longer than expected. I ordered the cutest drink (I forgot the name of it but provided the picture) and it was delicious. The base liquor for the cocktail was rum mixed with coconut flavor as well. For light bites we ordered fried lobster tacos and the rigatoni. The food was hot, fresh and tasted made to order which we loved. For reference I went at 6:30 PM on a Friday. Tago is like a restaurant/lounge vibe. It very much reminds me of being in Miami or Cancun with the ambience. They have a live DJ who plays great music that isn't too distracting either. We were seated immediately, service was very quick, and I loved the food and drinks. I had the hamachi crudo and the snapper dish. The crudo was yummy (and priced for happy hour) and the snapper was a large portion and delicious. The rice was creamy and spicy and the fish was cooked to perfection. I also drank the lavender haze cocktail which honestly was a standard gin/lavender cocktail but it was still good. This is a restaurant that you choose specifically for the vibe, and the vibe is a hybrid between Vegas day party or latin beach club. The music is a little louder than usual, but in a fun way. Tago is an up-and-coming restaurant/lounge that is actually really gorgeously decorated in my opinion. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and even a live DJ as early as 6 PM on the Sunday I went. I will say the music was a bit too loud for me that early into the evening, but the actual music selection was a vibe. Our server Mateo was very considerate and helped us so much with the menu. My friend and I got the flautas, eschites, and the papparadelle pasta with summer vegetables. Mateo told me to add chicken to the pasta or else it would be a little plain, and I'm glad I took his suggestion! The pasta was definitely a little under-salted and under-seasoned in my opinion, but with the chicken it was actually a happy combo. I tried some of my friends flautas and eschites too. I thought the eschites were alright, but the flautas were very spicy. I actually enjoyed the kick, but it was pretty intense. My friend and I made a reservation the day prior for a 6pm Sunday table at Tago. There's ample street parking around and valet for those uninterested in walking. Upon being seated, the first thing I noticed was how loud the music was. It's pretty distracting; I think that the loud volume would be more appropriate after 9 or 10pm since they're open so late anyway. Even our waiter mentioned how loud it is. Our server, Mateo, was really cool and very honest with the food and drink recommendations. They unfortunately ran out of the quail so I did the eschites and flautas, as well as the semilla en passion drink. The food and drinks arrived promptly, and Mateo was very attentive to our table. My food and drink was pretty delicious, although I didn't realize the red salsa was going to be SO SPICY (just personal preference). My friend ordered the pasta and it was a bit underwhelming. We suggested to Mateo that whoever developed the menu consider adding some of the veggies and seasonings that topped the flautas to the pasta dish. It was a basic cream sauce that needed salt and truly just tasted like heavy cream. The chicken added flavor to the dish (per my friend), but I think it could be amped up! Overall, the decor and architecture was stunning! The interior design is so aesthetically pleasing and it's so pretty to look at. Even the outdoor area is really nice. All in all, I would return maybe for drinks or the small plate. One side note that is a personal pet peeve of mine is automatic gratuity that is not documented or verbalized. Tago put a 20% "service charge" on the receipt, but I didn't see that anywhere stated on the menu or by our server. Our server was very nice but seemed to be rushing us which brings me to where things turned for my friend and I. As we were wrapping up our meal after being in the restaurant for a hour and a half, the hostess comes and lets us know that we will need to get up from the table in 30 minutes. Tago just opened up in Houston, and offers $10 valet. From the moment I walked in, the vibes were warm, stylish, and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The DJ set the perfect tone for the night, upbeat enough to keep things fun but still great for conversation. Our reservations were in the patio at first, however the staff insisted we move inside because of cold weather. It was very accommodating. The girls started off the night with a bottle of Ocho. Such a beautiful & nice vibe! Me & my girls came during White Linen Night for our first stop and dinner. The staff were very courteous and accommodating to our group. There was plenty of seating space for large and small parties inside and outside. Many people were having celebrations there. The patio was very cute too. The entire place makes you feel like you're in Tulum. My friends and I were very pleased with the food and drinks. The chips & queso was good. There was literally none left when I arrived lol. I really enjoyed my experience here. I have now gone two times and both times I genuinely had a good time. The restaurant is beautiful. It has a Tulum type of aesthetic and is executed flawlessly. They also have dancers which is nice entertainment while you are eating your dinner and they play Latin / electronic fusion music that sounds really great too. The food is also good as well...places like this I'm always concerned that the focus is on the aesthetic and the food will just be OK but I've enjoyed my food every time I've eaten here so they do pay attention to that. I won't say it's delicious food but it's definitely good. The drinks are also good as well. I got a drink that came with its own separate mini bottle of Don Julio, which I thought was a nice touch and definitely satisfied me for sure. The only thing that I would dock this place for is the fact that both times that I've come here I've tried to order the snapper and both times they were out of it which to me just means they should either take it off the menu or make sure that they have enough of it each night because it was disappointing to again be told that they didn't have it so that's the only reason I wouldn't give it five stars because I have really been wanting to have some snapper and they just never seem to have it from my experiences but overall the service is really good. Have you been to Tulum, but in Houston? This might be the destination. This place is so chic and literally feels like you're in Mexico without having to take a flight. We had girls night dinner, which meant ordering a plethora of different foods and the most expensive item on the list. We came here for one of our girlfriend's birthday, the table was reserved weeks before with indoor selection of seating. We arrived before the time of reservation and still weren't seated. They stated "we are looking for an open table" after about 30minutes. They then said they only had outdoor patio availability. We waited around an hour and a half for our food to come out, no one ever came to check on us (before our last server stepped in). They forgot a few plates until we spoke up about missing food. Disappointing, Discriminatory, and Unprofessional Experience at the Door We were extorted by a racist at the door. His name is Rob. He's tall, white, bald headed with a beard. He was hired by the owners and not the hospitality group. This wasn't my husband's first encounter with him in over 20 years of residing in Houston: for perspective. I had high hopes for Tago and was genuinely looking forward to enjoying dinner there. Unfortunately, our experience was tainted before we even got inside. When we arrived for our reservation, we were stopped by the doorman, Rob, who immediately scanned my husband from head to toe and told us he wouldn't be allowed in because he was wearing colorful Jordans. This was incredibly confusing and frustrating, especially since we had carefully reviewed the restaurant's dress code policy in advance and made sure his attire was appropriate. My husband was dressed very dapper and stylish overall. What made the situation even more appalling was what happened next: we were ultimately let in, but only after my husband paid Rob $40 at the door--just to be allowed to eat dinner. It felt more like we were entering a nightclub than a restaurant, and this unprofessional "fee" was never mentioned on the website or by the restaurant beforehand. It was egregious and left us feeling taken advantage of. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, we noticed other gentlemen of a different ethnic background being welcomed in wearing Air Force Ones--a type of sneaker that is, in our opinion, no different from Jordans in terms of formality. They were not stopped, questioned, or asked to pay anything. This double standard made the experience feel not just unprofessional, but discriminatory. As someone who considers herself a restaurant connoisseur--and someone who travels the world for food--I can confidently say this was one of the worst hospitality experiences I've ever encountered. Tago needs to seriously reconsider how its staff handles dress code enforcement--and more importantly, how guests are treated at the door. No one should be made to feel profiled or pressured into paying an unofficial fee to enjoy a dinner reservation they rightfully secured. I will be posting a separate review detailing our overall dining experience after being let in, including our interaction with the co-owner, Will. Part 2: Inside Experience - A Slight Recovery, But Still Subpar Once we were finally let into Tago--after the unprofessional and discriminatory ordeal at the door--co-owner Will made a sincere effort to address the situation. He was apologetic and acknowledged how unacceptable the experience was. He took $80 off our tab to help make up for the entry door heist, which we appreciated. While I believe the entire meal should have been comped given the circumstances, his gesture did help soften the initial sour taste. He also assured us that Rob, the doorman, would be held accountable. Unfortunately, the service inside didn't quite redeem things. After being seated, no one approached our table for over 15 minutes. My husband had to get up and find a server himself. When she arrived, she was pleasant, but clearly inexperienced. He ordered a screwdriver, which somehow came out with pineapple juice instead of orange. I ordered pasta with shrimp and specifically asked--five separate times--that it be made with no cheese. She reassured me each time, yet it still came out with cheese and had to be remade. The ambiance and scene were aesthetically nice, but the overall experience was disorganized, unprofessional, and far from what you'd expect at a restaurant trying to present itself as upscale. As someone who dines around the world and takes food and hospitality seriously, I was very disappointed. This drink was served in a small martini glass and not a cup like the others Mexican candy shot- good but inconsistent. No ones shot was poured the same. Some were filled and others were short. Each shot did not taste the same. Service: SLLLLOWWWW. Idk whose fault it is. Our waiter came by often and we were sat immediately, BUT THE SERVICE BETWEEN EACH ORDER WAS HORRIBLY SLOW. 20-30 min for just even one persons drink. Food came out super fast each and every time we ordered, which leads me to believe it's not cooked and just warmed up. Because ALL of our drinks too way too long to get to us. It wasn't packed, it wasn't busy, it was a slow Tuesday evening. The time it took between each drink was so slow, no one could get buzzed if they wanted to. The drinks aren't that great in flavor to be waiting that long. Everyone stayed sober. Overall Experience: 5/10 It was okay. Just disappointed, fell short of a "night in Tulum" cocktail bar. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. The cocktails were overly sweet, and to top it off, they charged $3 per drink just for Tajín--unbelievable. We were only two people, yet an automatic 18% gratuity was added to our bill. While the server was friendly and the DJ had a good set, that's not enough to bring me back. The restaurant is really pretty and the DJ was playing some good music but it was so loud that no one at our table could hear each other. Apparently after 11 they only serve small bites and when they say small they mean small! Our server was really sweet but the wait time was really long. The cocktails took forever and I actually would consider this the worst martini I've ever had in my life. My friends ordered a cocktail that was supposed to come with a mini don julio bottle but apparently they were out of bottles and just didn't provide them. The guacamole was good, but definitely pricey at $16. The paella fritters had no flavor. The steak bites took almost an hour and it's literally like 3 bites. So, if you just want aesthetics and vibes then you'll enjoy. But if you want good food and good cocktails, I'm not too sure. read more

First of all, social media hypes this place up way too much. There were babies and children present when I was under the impression this was an adults only setting. Food was overpriced and drinks were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. You had to valet $15. So won't be revisiting again. Perhaps I confused it for Toca Maderna. read more
