There were so many dents in the floor that I was sure it would never be smooth again--epoxy or no epoxy. Well, I guess I was proven wrong because these guys took their time to grind the floor, patch it, and then grind it again to make sure it was buttery smooth! They recommended sand for traction before putting the colored epoxy coating and that was a spot-on recommendation also (we don't want our customers slipping!). They offered a great color selection palette and recommended dark grey which I ended up liking as well. You can barely see the sand when the top color epoxy coat is applied so that was a plus. Before I hired them I got a quote from another company that was going to charge more and use an inferior method (acid etch instead of straight up grinding). The brick wall is directly against the wall of a neighboring high-rise building, so we did not have a lot of flexibility as to what we were allowed to do. We could not re-point the entire wall, so Ahmed selectively scraped around all of the holes and refilled them with new mortar. Another challenge was that we had no idea what the brick wall had originally been sealed with over twenty years ago. So Ahmed tested a couple of nontoxic sealers on the wall to see what would work. Then he sealed the wall with two thick coats, letting the first coat dry for over 24 hours before putting on the second coat. There were a lot of challenges with this project and Ahmed listened to our concerns and provided us with solutions for our particular situation. He was kind, calm, polite, and communicative, always texting to confirm appointments and letting us know when he was en route. He worked quickly and diligently and was a stickler for quality and precision. It was a pleasure working with him. We hired Wood Vitalize to refresh our original, 1935 floors at our new-to-us house in Jackson…read moreHeights. We had originally been talking with a more "standard" flooring company. The first company told us that the floors were too old & worn and that the only way we could refresh them was to rip out the original floors and replace them with modern panels. We mentioned how sad we were to lose our original floorboards to a friend and they suggested we reach out to Adam at Wood Vitalize. I'm glad we did! Adam came to the house and, immediately after saying hello, got down on his hands and knees to give them a close look. He helped us to pick an option that would protect the floors and give them some new life, without sanding off the character they'd gotten over the last 90 years. He also helped ensure the rose inlay in the original floors wouldn't get destroyed with his process (other flooring companies had told it was unsaveable). Wood Vitalize's quote for the work was reasonable and they even replaced a few floorboards that had gone rotten underneath the radiator without charge (thanks again!). They were able to do all the floors in our 3/2 townhouse in one day (arrived on time, stayed late until it was done). I'm very pleased with their work and owe our friend who referred them a big thank you! So I'm passing it forward.
