They will not show up for their estimate and beg you over the phone for another chance with a sob story. They got a Sq footage out of me and asked for a deposit because they need to get the paint by 3pm the day before they're supposed to start work. These guys turned a 3-5 day max 500 square foot apartment sand/stain/seal into a three month long nightmare. I gave them three weeks to complete the job and by the end of it the floor was poorly done, baseboards were damaged, and overall the work was sloppy. Floor was rough and there were horizontal lines all over it. I had to beg them to finish the closets after they made up an excuse about the floor being hazardous. Very evasive and difficult to communicate with company. They refused to hire a painter to repair their baseboard and wall damage. They voice recorded our conversations, said rude things via email, and after talks broke down to rectify their poor work they hired a lawyer to call me and try to intimidate me into not posting about them on social media. Honestly -- I spent a ridiculous amount of time and energy looking on Angie's List and Yelp for who I was going to hire to do the floors in my new co-op. They needed to be sanded down, stained and refinished. From the beginning phone calls and emails; their communication is spot on and timely. Thomas is the ultimate professional and his work is fantastic. They took really tired old floors and made them AMAZING looking. I've lived here for about 2 weeks now and every time I come home-- I'm still amazed at how great the floors look. Their prices are more than reasonable and they were able to finish my 600 sq ft home in 2 days!! Not only that but Thomas and one of his crew came back 10 days later AFTER my contractor was finished to install a saddle between the kitchen tiles and the dining room floor. For free! Horrific Experience! First let me say I used Thomas before over a decade ago Very nice guy! There were some issues with sanding but he said he would make it right when I was ready. He then did my mother in laws and my sisters homes with better results. March 2023 I have 477sf of flooring I need sanded stained and coated with Bona Traffic HD. I call Thomas and he comes to look. We chat, he updates me on business...licensed insured, Bona Certified, Now 99.9% dustless etc We agree on price, details and he agrees to throw in the labor to also recoat my kitchen/dining area downstairs for past problems. Was going to start Thur but his wife asked if Sat would be ok as she would come too. I explained Im in a time crunch as kitchen cabinets would be delivered soon. Was told 2-3 days to complete. Ok see you "early" Sat. Thomas, his wife and a helper arrive a little after 12:30 in afternoon. Upon checking he is not dustless. I would have taped closet doors or removed stuff. He's using a rented HD machine. Didn't bring dusk masks, gloves, vacuum, broom, garbage bags etc. I give them all plus water, coffee, food and even send his wife home with bottle of wine. I also give them $ Sun they show up, minus the helper also after 12:30. Like most living rooms built in 50's there are no ceiling lights. I mention the hours and lighting. No worries. Paid more $ as they leave. Monday, Thomas is picking up the stain and Bona Taffoc HD. I get a call from Thomas, he has no $. Can I put the supplies on my credit card. Store sends me bilI and notice hes only buying 1 gallon of Bona Traffic HD which has a coverage of 350-400sf per gallon (375 average). Even though he is Bona Certified, I tell him its not enough for two coats and tell him that it requires 2.5 gallons. He orders two more. I tell him I will increase job costs and pay for the extra two. He then shows up after 3:30pm, by taxi and needs $ to pay the driver. Mon (day 3) still sanding, edging but stains the bedroom. Too light. Instead of mixing the stains 50/50, 30/70 or in some formula, he just goes over floor with the darker stain. He is using Duraseal Quick coat which is a great product but deadly to lungs. He is wearing the dust mask I gave him. Upon noticing this I give him the correct mask. He has no ride home. I offer to drive him. We start out then come back as a Uber is coming. Tues, again shows up after 3:30 and we now have words. My house is full of dust, there is stain on the doors, walls, trim, the top step of the carpeted stairs is soaked from doing the threshold meaning the carpet needs to be replaced. He starts telling me I am a 2nd shift job, he couldn't use his dustless equipment because of my electric. Its 100amp service with a dedicated 120V and 220V outlet. Plus he never brought the dustless equipment. Eventually he is very apologetic says he will make it right. Replace carpet etc. Asks for more $. I told him he only had pennies left. Wed he applies the Bona. He mixes two gallons but applies with roller instead of Tbar which Bona states is necessary to get approved coverage. He finishes . He has a quart and a half to two quarts left in bucket. Meaning with two coats he only have 1-1/2 gallon covering 954sf (477x2) He was going to take the bucket and pour down sewer. I kept it to dispose of correctly. He will be back tomorrow. Again wants $ and at this point hes $50 overpaid. Still has not done the dining area downstairs that has been cleared out, taped baseboards and covered in plastic. Thurs he no shows. Doesnt call nor does wife. Doesnt return calls or texts or emails. Neither does wife. Fri, Sat, Sun nothing. Monday I hear from his wife saying Thomas is in hospital with respiratory problems, she wants to pick up equipment. No mention of finishing job. She comes Tues. I show he drips in the stain. I show her gaps he didnt fix. I show her that when you open fridge doors and look down you see bare unsanded, unstained and unpolyurethaned wood (same with stove) I show her hand prints of stain on walls and door trim, splatter of stain on freshly primed walls. The ruined carpet. She agrees a refund is in order and will speak to Thomas. She takes the equipment and leaves. Again no word. So I start to do some research. Hardwood Perfect Floors, Inc voluntarily gave up their corporate status in 2013. The are not registered with NYC DCA. Therefore it is unlikely they carry liability or Workmans comp insurance. They are also not Bona Certified according to Bona. 12 days after starting job, I hear from Thomas from the hospital telling me things like the gaps, the unfinished areas are (are you ready) my fault. That he's proud of his work etc. He's sick, It's not he fault I should have compassion. He hung up. Ive waited for him to heal and make a financial offer to make this right. I will not have him complete the job unless he's insured. Still no contact. Beware!!! read more

The first company I hired did a terrible, horrible, job to refinish my bedroom floors so we found Hardwood Perfect Flooring on yelp to come fix it. Luckily they came in 2 days. Koby did an amazing job, resanding, buffing, and refinishing the floors so the bedroom matched the rest of the apartment. Not only that, but he also came back a couple days afterwards when we discovered some remaining rough spots (probably due to the extensive damage from the other first company). I hired Hardwood Perfect Flooring to do a sanding, staining, and refinish on my new co-op apartment. Sam came and did a competitive quote immediately after I called the office, and quickly won me over with both a good price and her apparent knowledge of her product. She was also incredibly nice. The job itself was done quickly, taking 3 days for apx. 400 sq feet of 100 year old parquet floors. Customer Service: The only thing I wish in hindsight was I wish communication was more clear and a bit easier to manage. My uncle is in hardwood business, albeit out of state, and we had never heard of any company not including a skim coat (filling in small holes between floor boards) in a sand/stain/refinish job. Since my floors are antique, there are small gaps here and there that drive me nuts, and having a smooth surface was my main goal of refinishing at all. Only after I asked specifically about the gaps the 1st morning of the job did I find out that HPF charged extra for skim, and was not planning on filling any gaps. Still, I let Sam know that if there are a lot of gaps that will not be smoothed by sanding, to please let me know what she thinks after sanding so I can decide if I opt in for the skim coat. I made it clear I was open to paying more to get the right result. When I tried to follow up on that at the end of the day, it didn't seem like an option. After more concern on my end, Sam and Thomas let me know they would fill in a lot of the larger holes for free, but it still is not the complete smooth surface I would have loved. I appreciate their doing what seems to not be the norm for them, but would have liked to have my option to have a full skim coat prioritized. Similarly, on the second day, Sam called and let me know she was going to throw in a nail in a more loose piece of wood because the board was loose as a 'gift,' but then the final day, when I asked how the nail went, I was told she decided not to do it. Not totally sure why, but it felt almost as though I was being rude asking about it, when I never requested it? For future customers, I would just say have a long talk about exactly what you want before the job starts, even if it seems like you understand or it is a give-in, and make sure everything is very clear and in the quote properly. Should make any communication go smoother and the process less straining. End result: When I got in to the apartment after the job was done, I was completely thrilled. I couldn't stop saying "wow". I love the Provincial stain and the matte finish no the floors! I still do wish that the gaps were better filled, particularly where the gaps are uneven and dust collects, but I really do feel HPF restored my antique wood floors back to life. If I was doing another job, I would call them for a quote. Their prices are very good, and the family run business works fast! read more

There are sanding marks, the stain is uneven, and the finish feels rough. Additionally, there was trash left in my apartment, and damage done to saddles. My wife and I recently used Perfect Hardwood Flooring to redo the floors of our new apartment, and they did a fantastic job. I was very surprised to learn that Sam, who was the one corresponding with me via calls and email, was also doing the actual floor work! Talk about hard working. Her colleague Thomas worked on the floors as well and you can just tell how passionate he is about his craft. They were both extremely friendly, knowledgable, and always available for all of our questions. There were a few minor hiccups along the way, but that's par for the course when you're dealing with renovations. I used them a couple years ago and the memories of their work has compelled me to write this review. Rage of the past brought back recently after having other floor refinishers asking what the heck happened. They did a horrific job on the wood floor; they turned a beautiful light maple floor into a horrible mess: (1) there were literally what looked like orange tiger stripes all over the place, (2) the edges were not properly sanded resulting in huge dark orange blobs all along the edge that contrasted strongly with the light yellow maple, (3) they used a big drum machine to sand and some of the edges actually show circular patterns, (4) they missed some spots completely; didn't even have a finish on them. I could not have them redo it because (1) people were moving in the next day and (2) they royally screwed up and I did not want them to touch the floor EVER again. Maybe they have changed since then. But my recommendation is if you hire these people, you better supervise their work and stop them right then and there if you see something amiss instead of coming back 2 days later to find a complete hack job. read more

I hired Hardwood Perfect Flooring last year to redo my wood floors. First they were late showing up for the first appointment, using the excuse of a flat tire and wanted to reschedule the appointment 5 mins before they were suppose to show up. Sam quoted me a price and suggested it would take about 3-4 days to remove the carpet and stain the floors. On the 3 day, my husband went to check the progress and found out only the carpet was removed and nothing else was done. There were garbage all over my apartment with no work done AT ALL. Sam dodged 90% of my phone calls and had most of my calls go through voice mails. My husband was finally able to get in contact with her and she said "the floors are too moist and needs to be dried for a few days in order for the stain to set. After two and half weeks of back and forth, the floors were finally done. I gave the final deposit to Sam on the last day. I was not able to view the whole apartment since the floors were still wet. After a few days, we noticed that the walls of our apartment had various dark marks from the machine and some of the wood floors were horribly damaged. I had to repaint a few edges of my wall because of the stains. In addition, my apartment was covered in dust. They did not use any of the protective coverings for the furniture and appliances (which I paid for based on their recommendation). It has been a year now and my floors have changed color from black to dark gray. I've never met a more unprofessional group of people and would not recommend anyone to use their services. read more

Thomas did an incredible job refinishing our floors in a 1927 co-op. The floors look brand new and the stain is perfect. The job was done in two days and was very well priced. I spoke with Sam to book the job. She was very responsive and I appreciated that she followed up with a couple calls prior to starting the job. Hardwood was able to finish the sanding and refinishing (no stain) with water-based polyurethane of my antique wooden floors in 3 days and they look really good. Because my floors are so old, I wanted them to fill in the little (some not so little) spaces and holes. I thought that could be done with a skim coat, but Sam explained a lot of the spaces were actually too big for the skim coat and they wouldn't be able to fill them in with wood during a three day job (we were moving in the fourth day). Okay. I wish they could've filled them in, but with the time constraint, understandable. We had a little of a rocky start- they were supposed to start at 9:30am but Sam informed me earlier that same morning that they'd start that afternoon. She was still able to meet me at the apartment in the morning like we had previously agreed and assured me they'd still have the job done within 3 days (or in this case, now 2.5). Tip: even though their website says "no dust" refinishing, there was a lot of dust. In fact, there was a fine coating of sawdust on everything- from the walls to the built in bookshelves. Also, a lot of dust in between the stove and fridge. read more

Look no further if you need old wood floors brought back to life. I just had Thomas and his team from Hardwood Perfect Flooring back to do another one of our apartments. We have a five family house that is about 75 years old and the original oak hardwood floors have been really beat up over the years. Hardwood Perfect Flooring has worked on the floors in three of the apartments so far. I have found Thomas to be a true professional and a perfectionist when it comes to rejuvenating hardwood floors. They also do a great job installing new wood floors and polishing old tile and marble floors. I have had them do all three types of jobs and have been completely pleased with the work in all cases. I don't know why but Yelp deleted my review. I left a great review for Hardwood perfect flooring. This past december I finally closed on a new apartment. The apartment had a new carpet but me and my wife wanted wood floors. We pulled the carpet from one of the corners and were happy to discover wood floors. I started calling places to get some pricing everything quoted was around 5k and change that was a lot of money. Some of the places I contacted had no before and after pics on their sites so it was like going blind and hiring someone based on their word. I searched here on Yelp and found hardwood perfect flooring, I saw their pics on yelp and decided to give them a call. I spoke to Sam who was very helpful and explained to me the process and were able to give me a quote over the phone. I took a chance based on their online reviews and picture and had Sam come and check the floors. They pulled the carpet and saw that the floors were still ok but they were dirty, stained, and there were gaps on the wood. They told me it would take 4 days and I signed a contract and gave them access to the empty apartment as I didn't want to be on their way. They kept in touch through all the process , they removed the carpet and carpet nails, they cut it up and disposed it and then began the work. on the 3 day i met them and saw the sanded floors and also the work to fill the gaps on the wood. I picked a tint color for my floor and left. I went back the next day with my wife and found Thomas applying the polyurethane the bedrooms looked amazing and he was applying the first coat out of 3. my wife was so happy to see our new floors and apartment looking so nice. I am glad that I decided to remove that carpet and going with hardwood perfect flooring. They are coming back to install some saddles on the floor. I can't thank Sam and Thomas and their team enough . Their customer service is on point and they are really down to earth people. Thomas - The fact that you took 6 months to respond to our complaint and you still owe us our refund for the 50% payment that we paid you upfront even before you started the job, shows that your customer service is very very poor. You barely laid out a few planks of flooring and completely disappeared on us. We tried calling you and emailing you and we never heard back from you for nearly a week. We have emails to prove this. You and Sam showed up after several follow ups nearly a week later and still could not even give us an approximate date for completion of work given that we were already living outside our apartment for a week and had stopped all other work in the apartment for your flooring work to get done. After nearly a week you and Sam showed up at my place, and shouted and insulted me when I asked you guys for a refund. It was a very threatening experience. There was definitely a breach of contract as you walked off on the project, never refunded the money for the work not done, the few planks of flooring laid was wrongly laid out too, the trash was not picked up and you made us homeless for weeks as we had to find a new flooring person to come in remove the trash, undo the wrong work you did, order extra boxes of flooring to redo the wrong work done, etc before we could move in. We hired a another flooring company and they completed the entire job in 3 days. They kept up with their commitments and I would highly recommend them! read more

People are quick to write bad reviews when they're unhappy because let's face it, we love to rant. It takes truly exceptional work though to take the time to write a good review. This is one of those instances. I truly couldn't be happier with the work that our contractors did with our floors. Let me start by saying that Thomas and his crew aren't out to get you. My husband spoke to a few different contractors and each of them gave us a different number just in terms of the measurements of our apartments. This left us understandably confused. Thomas came in and quickly measured our floors and gave us the lowest square footage. At this point we decided to move forward, mostly because it was going to cost us the least. I'm so happy that we did because the service that followed was beyond excellent. HP Flooring is the type of crew that will arrive 15 minutes early and consider it "on time." Their work is detail-oriented so you won't have to worry about any minor mistakes. They are incredibly polite and quick to answer any questions you may have. That's just the surface of it. Turns out that Thomas is allergic to cats and was HOSPITALIZED after his allergies got really bad from working in our apartment. We have three cats. We never even heard of it. His company made sure the work was done and done perfectly regardless. To be honest, had we known, my husband and I would've insisted on giving them more time, but they were too professional to let it get in the way. The finishing details were perfect, the floors are beautiful, and I am so excited about our "new" apartment. We will definitely be calling them for future work and I've taken a stack of cards for recommendations should anyone ask. If you're looking to get your floors done, truly, look no further. I spoke to Thomas yesterday night regarding pricing for restoring existing floor and a separate price for engineered flooring. I send him pictures of my floor, and he sent me a contract the very same night. I emphasized I had a special event taking place on Sunday, and needed work done today. He informed me he would visit me prior to the team being sent to my house in the AM and the team would be here between 10-10:30am. I took a day off from work, since I've been told that work will be completed today. I called him multiple times with no answer. Seems like they intentionally are checking caller ID, and not answering my calls. I left multiple voicemail's, and also emailed the company before writing this review, to give them a opportunity to correct the issue. I still haven't heard back from anyone. I expect the common decency to follow up with a customer, I shouldn't be waiting all-day for an update. Please be aware of this company as they give you their word, and don't follow thru with it. read more

Samantha and Thomas did an excellent job repairing our bedroom floor after a leak in the heating pipes under the floor caused significant damages. Not only were they able to repair the floor, but they also did a first rate job repairing a previously botched repair job done by previous contractors hired by my buildings management company for a similar issue, which occurred a number of years before we obtained ownership. Thomas and Samantha were not only knowledgeable, and respectful, but patient with us as we had to start and stop the project so the management company could observe damages and repairs being completed. They come and refinished my floors and they looked great for a month or two. Then I started noticing all these scratches coming up all over, just from normal wear and tear. When I called and asked them to repair, they wanted me to drive out to Brooklyn and pick up one of their workers to do the repair. For real??? I'm just no happy.
