I highly recommend John and his team for your hardwood floor needs. My pre-war studio came with old, dark, extremely uneven, and damaged floors that needed to be completely ripped out and replaced. John's team was able to strip out the old floors, level the sub-floor, install the underlay, install new solid hardwood, and install the baseboards in just 3 days! The Mirage hardwood that John uses as a supplier is a high quality wood, and I'm very happy with the final look of the floors. My apartment is so much brighter now that I have to dim my lights! In terms of process, from the first point of contact when he came to do the initial quote to the final payment, John was very professional, informative, and responsive throughout the whole project. My building made us go through an unusually lengthy and challenging approval process, and John did everything in his power to ensure we got approval in a timely manner. Other contractors probably would have quit on me halfway through! I'm very grateful he stuck it out.

The finished product. A stained white oak floor...

From the first quote to the finished floor, these guys are as good as it gets! They have specialized crews for leveling and installation, sanding and finishing and each of them are at the top of their game. Attentive and quick to react to any unforeseen problem. I can highly recommend John and his crew!

They couldn't have been any more professional and 10000% on top of everything start to finish, prompt, good pricing, and happy to explain anything to you. You won't be disappointed. You feel like their not only interested in your business, but more interested in your satisfaction.

Floors in hall were redone to match the floors in the bedroom. Great match job.

Wood Vitalize - Commercial Retail - After Dustless Hardwood Floor Refinishing

Wood Vitalize

Upper East Side, Yorkville

We hired Wood Vitalize to refresh our original, 1935 floors at our new-to-us house in Jackson…read moreHeights. We had originally been talking with a more "standard" flooring company. The first company told us that the floors were too old & worn and that the only way we could refresh them was to rip out the original floors and replace them with modern panels. We mentioned how sad we were to lose our original floorboards to a friend and they suggested we reach out to Adam at Wood Vitalize. I'm glad we did! Adam came to the house and, immediately after saying hello, got down on his hands and knees to give them a close look. He helped us to pick an option that would protect the floors and give them some new life, without sanding off the character they'd gotten over the last 90 years. He also helped ensure the rose inlay in the original floors wouldn't get destroyed with his process (other flooring companies had told it was unsaveable). Wood Vitalize's quote for the work was reasonable and they even replaced a few floorboards that had gone rotten underneath the radiator without charge (thanks again!). They were able to do all the floors in our 3/2 townhouse in one day (arrived on time, stayed late until it was done). I'm very pleased with their work and owe our friend who referred them a big thank you! So I'm passing it forward. If you've got floors with history and you want to keep them don't let someone talk you into ripping them out until you talk to Adam!

He was able to work with the co-op management's strict rules around prohibited products and provided a quote and COI quickly. I also never felt pressured into upsells or anything shady during the process. Our floors look brand new and areas that were damaged by radiators are now smooth again. We will happily work with Wood Vitalize again in the future.

I hired this company to reglaze my bathtub on September 23, 2026, based largely on the positive…read morereviews I had seen. Unfortunately, my experience was very different. Immediately after the technician left, the tub appeared acceptable. However, the following day my husband and I discovered a hairline crack and numerous fish-eye "dimples" across the front ledge of the tub. When I brought these issues to the company's attention, I was told that the dimples were merely cosmetic and would lessen and improve over time. I was also told that they would not affect the durability, waterproofing, or normal use of the tub. I was particularly concerned by that explanation because the defects were present in the newly completed finish. I was even instructed to use a sharp knife to scrape at what I was told might be a hair rather than a crack, with the assurance that doing so would not affect the durability of the finish. After researching the issue, I learned that fish-eye defects can occur when contaminants, moisture, oils, or other substances interfere with the coating process. Regardless of the cause, these defects were clearly visible in the finished work and were not the quality I expected from a professional reglazing job. There was also considerable back-and-forth before the company agreed to send someone back to address the problems. It was only after I mentioned that I might have to pursue the matter in small claims court that they agreed to revisit the tub. On October 6, 2026, the technician, Gega, returned. After approximately 15 minutes of work, he sanded and polished the front ledge. The result was that the gloss layer was removed, leaving the ledge dull and rough/porous. In my view, the attempted repair left the tub in worse condition than before. Gega refused to do anything further and left. When I asked whether a new top coat would be applied, I was told no. Shortly afterward, I spoke with the owner, Oleksandr, to express my concerns about the result. I specifically explained that the gloss had been removed and that the ledge was now dull and rough. I was told that the gloss would eventually fade anyway, perhaps in a year or two. I explained that this did not address the problem and that I believed the ledge should have been properly refinished. I was then told that the company's budget did not allow them to reglaze the top ledge. That response was extremely disappointing. A customer should not be responsible for the company's internal budget considerations when addressing defective or unsatisfactory work. I originally chose this company because of the good reviews. In hindsight, I wish I had paid closer attention to the negative reviews as well. My experience has been that everything may be fine if the job goes perfectly, but when problems arise, getting them addressed can be a very different experience. I am sharing my experience so that prospective customers can make an informed decision. I paid for a professionally completed reglazing job and expected the finished product to be free of obvious defects and any subsequent repair to restore--not worsen--the condition of the tub.
