Due to co-op and budget constraints, my project was a little unique. It involved both LVT installation and hardwood refinishing after the removal of old carpet. The team took the time to walk me through various options and find the right solution for the space. The LVT looks fantastic, and I was especially impressed with the hardwood refinishing. They restored the old floors beautifully and achieved an excellent match with the existing wood flooring. Despite mixed flooring, they did an excellent job making the floor feel seamless and intentional throughout the apartment. Everyone I worked with was patient and professional throughout the process. Melissa was incredibly helpful with all of the co-op paperwork, which I especially appreciated since this was my first co-op renovation. Angelo was on time for the estimate and helped me work through different options and narrow down the right LVT samples. Dave was outstanding from early talks to managing the day-to-day work - he was communicative, responsive, and always willing to answer questions. He also helped select a stain that blended beautifully with the existing floors. All of the work crews were punctual, respectful, and clearly took pride in their work. Throughout the project, everyone at Spagnoli was incredibly accommodating and always took the time to address questions and concerns, making the renovation process much less stressful. After over 30 years we decided to see what was under the carpet as we were doing some small renovations....surprise!!!! We had solid wood under there. We called Spagnoli, they came out to estimate right away. Very nice, very professional. We decided to go ahead with the work. They pulled up old carpet, sanded, stained and finished floor in 3 days. We did have one small problem, there were some stains in the hard wood that could not be sanded out. It was a pleasure working with owner David, office manager Lisa and every member of the careful, diligent crew that removed 500 square feet our old damaged (by a flood from a neighbor) parquet floor and replaced it with Mirage engineered hardwood. We interviewed several businesses. It was clear that Spagnoli knew what they were doing. They gave us an accurate description of what was involved and solutions for every detail. They recommended a quality product. Communication was excellent at every step. One company said that the job would be done in a single day. After we saw what was involved, we knew that could not be true. It took 2.5 workdays. The results were absolutely perfect including trash removal, priming the floor, cleanup and replacement of baseboards. The pricing included reasonable charges for each phase of the work. Let me start by saying that this review is long overdue. My family purchased a 1925 prewar condo back in 2009. It has beautiful herringbone hardwood floors but sadly the floors were all nicked up and scratched from decades of wear and tear. Some of the marks on the floor were really deep, I wasn't even sure IF they could be fixed at all. In 2022, I called a few flooring contractors. One never showed up, another insisted he could give me a 'fair quote' via zoom and I had a guy stop by who claimed to be a "flooring specialist" however he refused to even try to restore the original herringbone floor. Instead he insisted it be completely ripped out and replaced with a whole new floor. I was so frustrated! Then I called David of Spagnoli flooring. He came to my condo on time and was quick to get back to me with a written estimate. Spagnoli was also the only contractor I called who has a full time office person, Lisa, who always answered the phone and answered any questions I had. (The other guys only had a voicemail.) After I received the estimate from David, I submitted the proposal to have the floors refinished to my condo board. They approved it without issue but then, at the very last minute, the management company of my building insisted on an extra umbrella insurance policy in order to do the work. I called Lisa and explained the situation, she handled it quickly so that the original work date did not have to be delayed. I was so grateful--thank you Lisa! The crew David sent to restore our floors were awesome! The first day consisted of removing cracked wooden boards that could not be fixed and replacing them with new boards cut by Woody. Woody is so talented--that guy can cut any piece of wood to fit perfectly anywhere. I was very impressed! I thought Woody was his nickname since he's the guy who does the woodwork but his actual name is Woodrow. What are the odds a guy named Woodrow would end up working with wood for a living? LOL I was also impressed that David, the owner, came to the job site to see how the project was going. I had my bathroom completely gutted in 2015 and I never saw the owner of that company once--he hid like the Wizard of Oz! That is a huge red flag because the 'work' his crew did was awful! The job took way too long and didn't even look that great in the end. I will never hire another contractor who doesn't show his face! You don't have to worry about that with Spagnoli! They do great work and are always ready to meet with you face to face to discuss your project and address any concerns you may have. You'll meet Angelo too. After Woody does his magic repairing your floor, Angelo comes to buff your floors and make them shine like glass! They were GLORIOUS to work with and reasonably priced! Look at my before and after pics to see for yourself! If every contractor did business the way Spagnoli does, I would have much more work done. Thank you David and crew for restoring our floor to it's former glory--it looks so beautiful! Even now, a year later, it is as beautiful as the day it was refinished--we are so pleased! We didn't like the red tone while the floor was in very good shape other than the color, we decided refinishing was what we needed. He suggested not staining exotic wood dark and explained by applying a natural sealer and three coats of Bona water base the floor will show much less red. I can't say enough about this company. They recently laid down hardwood flooring in my bedroom and they did and amazing job!! Two years ago I had my living room floors done by another company and even though it was cheaper, dealing with that other company was stressful due to how unprofessionally they acted. But of course trying to save money I did ask them to give me an estimate for my bedroom floor. I also asked Spagnoli for an estimate. From that first visit the level of professionalism and thorough discussion that I had with David convinced me I should go with Spagnoli, even though the cost was higher than with the other company. All of the workers were very professional and any little hiccups that did occur David and Angelo addressed right away and with grace. Fast forward to 3 weeks later when I had a new bed delivered by PC Richard & Son, and my floors scratched by the delivery crew! Lisa handled my COI requests quickly, and when I encountered some issues (my moving company decimated the new hard floors they just finished), they were more than helpful when I was upset and distressed. I would give this company 1000 stars if I could!!!!!! I tortured Vinnie with my Brazilian Cherry Floors that I hate. The exotic wood has its own color that I disliked from the moment they were put in my house (a long, long time ago and not by Spagnoli). Vinnie had someone come to my home and pick up MY FLOOR SAMPLES, he then made me three separate boards in different colors and brought them back to my house so I could make an informed decision. They used a red out process that did not damage the wood. They taped off the room they were working in as well as other rooms. They had hepa filters, vacuums on their backs, special sanders, in addition to the regular sanders. I am Mrs. Clean and thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown because of dust, NOPE, didn't happen!!!! No fuzz or hair in the final product. NO RUSHING to get it done fast, the only goal is to do it right!!!! William is one of the kindest guys I have ever met (sander/stainer). Dwayne is phenomenal as well, I had 2 boards damaged and was nervous to change them out and Vinnie convinced me and did it for free (which I probably shouldn't say), and it is SEEMLESS. I mean you cannot tell which boards were replaced which is crazy because the floors are 20 years old. I bugged these people for 2 months trying to pick which color because I liked them all. They came on the first day prepared with every color on the truck. My husband, who was originally dead set against this whole stain now wants every Brazilian cherry floor in the house made to match my den. My floor is FINALLY gorgeous and the only reason I don't have a picture to post is because my furniture did not get delivered yet. I will update it very soon.
