We worked with the team to replace the old roof over our garage and shed and they did a fantastic job. They worked very efficiently and gave us a very reasonable price. They kept us informed throughout the project, especially when certain parts of the roof required more work (changing out damaged wood etc). They also clearly communicated timelines and always arrived on time, making the whole process very easy. All in all, it was great working with them and we are looking forward to working on more home improvements with them. read more

Ahmad and his crew replaced the worn out and rusting lintels on the back of our co-op as well as re-stucco-ed and painted everything. It took a while because of all the rain we've been having but communication with Ahmad was always good and we got a very fair price. Smart Contracting also repointed some brick work, resurfaced some concrete and painted in our basement. Thanks very much, Ahmad. read more

I am very happy with the work that Iftikhar and his team did on my front steps.  I hired another company prior to fix my front steps but they did an awful job and charged us way too much, wish I had just hired Iftikhar from the beginning. He had great communication and gave us a reasonable quote.  Will definitely recommend them and will hire them again for future projects. read more

We recently hired Iftikhar and his team to fully replace our driveway and sidewalk in the landmarked district of Prospect Lefferts Gardens. We interviewed numerous contractors and Iftikhar stood out for being responsive, experienced, professional, comprehensive, and last not least competitively priced. We were impressed with his company's stellar ratings on various websites; and even looked at some of his past projects before selecting him. He exceeded our high expectations. He took care of permits and completed the big project in a mere three days. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding - precisely pitched and trimmed, very straight lines, no mess. I couldn't have imagined a better end product. He even came back to improve the caulking along the curb after the original filling had sunken in in a few places. If you have concrete work to do, don't think twice and call Iftikhar! read more

We highly recommend Smart General Contracting. Ahmad and his team breathed new life into our backyard. They created a beautiful and safe space for our family to enjoy for years to come by installing pavers and a PVC fence Ahmad, the owner, was very responsive, easy to work with and accommodating. Fantastic job from start to finish by Smart General Contracting. My residence required extensive refurbishment that included sidewalk, curb, driveway, front walkway, steps, porch, brick facade work, stucco, some roofing repairs, among other things. The quality of the work was excellent and the work quote was very fair. As it always is with jobs this large, there are inevitable cost over-runs on things. Iftikhar (Ahmad) was always very attentive and sensitive to our project budget and helped us navigate the expenses as best as possible all while never sacrificing any quality whatsoever. VERY solid contractor and deserves consideration for all exterior residential work. read more

Great experience with these guys, I'll work with them again. I hired them to fix the brickwork under the stoop of my townhouse. They called ahead to reconfirm they were on their way, showed up on time, and were easy to work with. Very good crew, did a great sidewalk repair job for us at a fair price. Honest and transparent through every step of the process. Thank you Ahmed ji and crew. read more

I hired this crew for a big job -- to redo my porch, point the front and back of my house, to redo my front stairs, and to do the concrete in front and in back of the house. From the start, everything was an issue. The team is competent at the work they do, but there is no communication. If you have time to babysit your contractor and watch them to ensure everything is done the right way, then by all means, go with this team. But my partner and I work full time and needed someone we trusted -- these guys were not it! Every time I had a comment about the work or something was done incorrectly, they refused to fix it. In the end, he refused to do a crucial part of the job and asked me to pay him money at the mid-point when it was not in the contract to do so. The team quit, refused to refund me, and left me with a half-done job. He even posted pictures of my home and the work he did without asking me for permission! I would never hire them again and don't recommend that anyone else does either. read more

Smart General Contracting did some concrete/brick repair work for me last week to my driveway, brick front wall and garage. Some of the needed repairs were quite extensive. They were excellent. Iftikhar was prompt to respond to my initial request, and came to my home quickly and provided a very fair estimate. He certainly has a strong customer service ethic and strives to work with you. On the day of repair, he showed up with his team and the work proceed promptly - the main repairman worked the entire day and was completely focused on the job at hand and very skilled. Iftikhar came by the site a number of times throughout the day to check on how things were going. Also, I needed just few bricks for some repair of my front wall and my brick color was a difficult one to match. The avoid me having to be a full lot of 106 bricks Iftikhar did extensive research and made a number of trips to find the right ones that he could purchase separately. Looking at my wall now you wouldn't know it had a huge crack in it early last week! Iftikhar is smart, pleasant and fair and a delighted to work with - I highly recommend Smart Gen'l Contracting. read more
