I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and wish I had gone with just plain shrimp. It wasn't on traditional Po' Boy bread and since the shrimp were so fresh and yummy - I'd prefer them on their own. When we found out that their Clams were farmed right there across the inter coastal we decided to take home 50 Middlenecks that were as FRESH as you can get. Loved the staff too. Oh boy, where do I start?! We were looking for something casual and something close by for dinner and we all decided to give this place a try. For starters I had clam chowder and it was thin, almost watery and flavorless. My other half had a side salad and it was just that, a side salad. With 6 people in our group not one enjoyed their dinner!! The red shrimp tasted like ammonia, my fried shrimp had enough breading on them to kill someone and crab cakes had a lot of filler. The person that had the red shrimp told the waitress that his shrimp tasted like ammonia and she came back with an answer "the shrimp taste that way because they are flash frozen on the boat" ummm no ma'am!! The coleslaw wasn't even any good. Save yourself a wait and take your money to a different restaurant. And too boot they were out of most of their fish and out of oysters. Slow service! read more

We've been here 3 times since we live close by and really want to like it. Third time was it. The food takes forever to come out and it's hit or miss. One thing is good-the chowder and the rest isn't. The red shrimp which our server claimed would taste like lobster just were mushy shrimp with an awful texture. The Mayport shrimp were better. Once you open the back of the shrimp open take one of their napkins and run it down that opening to remove all that shrimp doo doo! Great shellfish! We would definitely recommend the Argentinian shrimp -- they put the perfect amount of spice on them that makes you wanting more. It's a very casual atmosphere with a nice outdoor seating area. The bar is fairly limited, plan on having beer or sangria. read more

This is my go to seafood place. Any time we have family or friends in town we bring them here. The red shrimp are SO good! I've had them fried and steamed and they are equally good. I like the intimate environment and the staff is very friendly. Sometimes it takes a bit for the food to come out but I feel this is to be expected when you eat at a small local eatery. We decided to hit Commanders Shellfish Camp while we were waiting on our rental cleaning and glad we did. It's a seafood shop and restaurant in one. The staff was friendly. Our waitress recommended the red shrimp and flounder. I got the fried shrimp and a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder was very good and the shrimp were excellent. My wife got the fried flounder. It was also excellent, nice and flakey and clean tasting. You could tell both were fresh. We also split a key lime pie. It was also good. We will probably be going back. We recommend it. read more

My family and I were not that impressed by Commander's. We came in for a late lunch after a long hike and were absolutely famished and ready for a nice meal. We waited almost 35 minutes for the server to bring out our order. We were surprised to find very small portions, though the seafood was fresh and tender. We ordered blackened grouper, fried grouper, and blackened mahi mahi. My potatoes and steamed green beans were fresh but had no seasoning at all. I considered my meal to be very diet-friendly as it had zero oil or condiments (I had to ask for tartar sauce). Service was friendly but also very slow even when paying the bill. And finally the bathrooms were not well supplied and are located outside of the restaurant. For such a shacky atmosphere I would have expected the prices to be a bit lower. read more

Fantastic after a day of paddle boarding at Matanzas. Husband had royal red shrimp and clams. I had the flounder sandwich and it was so thick, flaky and perfectly cooked I threw the bun to the side and enjoyed the onion and tomato with the fish and it was perfect! I went inside and servers walked by me & no one greeted me. I asked for booth which are beside the bar. No one there was wearing a mask at bar. So I ask for outside. When my server came she was acted like it was an imposition to tell me about menu items. Definitely not warm. I had raw oysters, which were 8.95 for 1/2 doz & very small. I had the fried flounder. It was delicious. I told my server it was a small piece of fish. She said it was 6 oz. there is no way that was 6 oz. the fries were good. I usually tip 20%, but the frosty treatment got her 15%.I would never come back here, mainly because the server's attitude and the small piece of fish. My bill was $30 without tip. What a hidden gem. To end a great day at TPC, I remembered Id won a gift card off the Radio that need to be used. Not much of a wait for a table as it wasnt the sunniest day and now knowing why there were no seats avail. We started with a no brainer as we originally entered, it was a killer scent of fresh seafood, hence shrimp with that certain smell of flavor and spices. Priced exactly where it should have been, we did a hlf order, 12?(do 20!) I think and.. THE. BEST. SHRIMP. WEVE. EVER. HAD! I joked with her as we read each others mind, do i ask the obvious question. We both knew. Now regretting not ordering 20, can only imagine what the gator tail was like.. Now i might eat fish/fish sandwich 5-6x a year. Very eh on it.. Asked the ever so helpful Chris' opinion again knowing the answer, blackened. Let/tomater and almost regrettably put mayo on it, thank goodness i didnt. BEST FISH SANDWICH IVER EVER HAD. IT WAS PERFECT!. Just juicy enough where the bun was not getting soggy. unbelievably filled with flavor. Unreal. The future Mrs had her fixing of crab legs, which were great, nothing wrong whatsoever. But when would you crave more SHRIMP than 'legs?? Thats how good they were. What a great finish to an unforgettable day, almost wonder if i should go there after the reception! Some positives, but overall a disappointing visit. Arrived a little after 5 on a Sunday, and had a 20 minute wait so we were able to walk their new boardwalk down towards the water- great view. Once seated, orders taken and beers and fish dip came out after a bit - smoked fish dip was excellent and the Datil pepper sauce was perfect with it. Appetizer plate cleared, and the wait began. Neighboring table seated at the same time as us got their food, then the table behind us that was seated after we got our app had their meals served. Three times we heard our food would be right out, but server never just said...Sorry, your order got mixed up in the kitchen but we've got it sorted out now. Eventually got our two meals 30+ mins after the app was cleared. Fish sandwich was good with a nice portion of fish.
