Brunch has been really good for the last few times, we go there almost every weekend and sometimes during the week for lunch. My husband loves the staples like the crispy bacon , eggs and potatoes. Haven't been here in a while but wanted to grab one of the Chinese Chicken salads. I just moved back to the area but Comforts was always a go-to, either for personal or work related lunches. I was 1 of only 3 customers inside at the time. I grabbed a container and stood by the register at the left. The place had been entirely remodeled since the last time I was there, but the register was right there. I stood there for a bit wondering if someone would notice me but no one did. There were 7 employees at the time, scattered along behind the long L-shaped counter. There were several empty registers. I went to the next; no go. Finally went to the bakery side where there seemed to be some sign of life and was finally acknowledged there. By now, several other customers had entered the store and had grabbed numbers. I knew nothing about taking a number, but was taken care of anyway because someone with a number allowed me to go before them. I guess the point is, it is one of my big pet peeves that deli personnel do not ever turn around to see if anyone is in line or at the register. They will simply ignore you for as long as possible. This is horrible service. And of course I was prompted to leave a tip at the register, like yeah, right. What should have taken me all of 2 minutes took 10 because no one cares to acknowledge the customers. It's disgraceful really. Train your staff! read more

We decided to have lunch at the restaurant the other day and I had a taco salad which was good. Not the best I've ever had. And my friend had the brie and nectarine sandwich which was delicious. They spoiled me with their Eggs Benedict. I can't get it anywhere else. I ask for crispy potatoes and they come out golden delicious and perfect. I feel hungry for Comforts writing this. And of course there are the standard Go-to's for takeout of the Chinese Chicken Salad and the Chicken Okasan. The staff is professional and nice. I've been coming here since it opened. I grew up in Marin but now live elsewhere. Every time I come back to town I come to comforts. Sometimes I get chicken osakan, or a Chinese chicken salad or a coconut cupcake. The thing is it is always consistent every time for all of these years. My family and I have gotten this businesses Chinese chicken salad for every road trip for the last 10 years. It remains one of my favorite salads in the bay throughout this time! From before they had a separate case for it, we have loved this salad. With ample outdoor and indoor seating, this is the perfect spot. The food was somewhat tasty, but thrown together on the plate with little regard for its appearance. After sitting down for brunch and staring at a bar full of plates, used cups, flatware and a variety of other items we decided to try the takeaway items next door. I was directed to speak to the cashier and give her my order. Because of the extensive amount of items in the reach ins and counter we wanted to look at the items before we just read items off their menu to be rung up. I was constantly asked "is that it?" After I chose each item. I felt like I was being bum rushed out and finally told the person behind the counter to allow me a few minutes to look and NO I wasn't done. I only gave them 4 stars not so much for their food but because of the server's attitude...not the friendliest! But overlooking this their food is delicious. I had the sausage lasagna and it was delicious and my Dánae one of their salads which she said was very good. It's an unusual place because you order your food from the menu but they already have prepared and in the fridge where you get it yourself and then the workers will warm it up for you if you are dining in. Although the food is prepackaged it's all made their in their kitchen and it taste fresh and flavorful. I couldn't resist the amazing desserts so purchased some of their mini cupcakes and one large cupcake pumpkin flavor with cream cheese frosting...best I've ever had!!!
