Absolutely amazing! I cannot believe it took me so long to check out Kitchen. The tri-tip sandwich was wonderful (I prefer mine with no cheese) and the rosemary fries were, too. We're in town for a wedding, and wanted a close breakfast spot. We chose kitchen cafe & catering, and it didn't disappoint! The space was quaint, being helped almost immediately, the staff was super eager to help with any questions we had. We ordered the breakfast burritos & avocado toast with an orange juice and pastry. Fun spot for breakfast and lunch. We had the Asian noodle salad with chicken. The tri tip sandwich, the chicken pesto sandwich the avacado toast with salmon, and a breakfast croissant. It was all delicious, the salad was huge, the tri tip was amazingly tender. We split the rosemary garlic fries, hot crispy and tasty. We had a chocolate chip cookie and orange ginger scone for dessert. Both were excellent. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

We were eight retirees with a plan to eat at Kitchen Cafe on Wednesday before the lunch rush. We had studied the menu and were ready for choices. After I ordered my meal the staff quickly was ready for payment. But I then asked about my choice of Kitchen Breakfast. "Didn't that involve options?" She didn't seem to know at first. She thought that if the customer showed initiative, choices could be made, but otherwise it was default selections. Really? I started to name my preferences of how the eggs should be prepared and was asked about which sausage. I didn't want sausage. I expressed my preference for avocado, potatoes , etc. When we were served, my friend didn't get her meal. When she inquired inside, she was told her meal was being wrapped to go. Really? Then when her meal was brought, we were told that it was delayed because of an emergency staff meeting. What was needed instead was better staff training. I guess because I didn't order sausage, I didn't get, say, bacon?, or was it because of the avocado? I don't know because their menus on line and at the restaurant are in contradiction on this point. Perhaps the community would be better served if Hamilton hangars were still part of an airport? Where customers could fly to better service? read more

I went here on a weekday for breakfast to see what all the hype was about. The pastry selection was impressive looking and the staff were extremely polite. Not a lot of tables, so I can only imagine that weekends could get crowded. My eggs Benedict were presented very nicely on the plate... but... whoever made the hollandaise sauce used too much lemon or vinegar. My GF noticed some small curdled lumps in it and before I took a bite and told me it was going to have a sour bite... she was right, it was pretty sour. Still good, but very sour tasting. The eggs were poached really good and the bed of toast they put it on was toasted perfectly and had a great flavor. Just fix that sauce and this would be a five star. The cherry turnover was loaded with filling, not like some i've had at other places. They did not skimp on filling at all and I would get it again. read more

Kitchen is a wonderful addition to Novato. They are located in the Hangers in the Hamilton neighborhood. I heard a lot of people raving about them and obviously had to stop by and checking it out for myself. I got lunch with a friend during a weekday. We were greeted by a couple ladies behind the counter. They were very friendly and showed us the different lunch options in the display case. It was hard to choose but I ordered the egg and ham croissant sandwich. It was incredible! I noticed the great quality of all the ingredients. I was so happy it was a hot sandwich. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. We sat outside since it was a nice day. One of the ladies came by our table to see how everything was and we raved about how delicious our meals were. They make all their pastries in house which is nice to hear. There is also some grab and go meals in the refrigerator which is convenient if you need something quick to eat while you're on your lunch break. read more

Wanted to try this cafe since it opened but closed on weekends. What a sweet cafe; attentive and kind staff, fantastic and unique food with quality ingredients including Della Fattoria bread. Indoors is soothing and beautiful and tables outside are also nice. Love the theme of kindness and love and the pink heart quartz they give out ... so glad to see it busy. I had the pupusa benedict, it wasn't amazing and there was a little bit of eggshell in it, not a big deal but it was white so my guess is it's fairly cheap egg as the ingredient which might account for more average taste. I really liked this place, and the food was delicious. I ordered the Asian salad for $12, but was very surprised at how small it was. It comes without protein (no chicken, no tofu, etc) and was just a tiny pile of soba noodles in the very center of my plate mixed with some chopped veggies tossed in an Asian vinaigrette dressing. The hardest part was to NOT order one of each of the amazingly beautiful pastries in the case lit by the morning sun. We needed some protein, after all! In the course of ordering, we met the owner, a delightful woman who comes to this cafe with many years of experience in the food biz. She's created a warm, welcoming place to come grab a goodie & go, or sit and visit over delicious food. She's also hired lovely staff as well. After we finished, we grabbed some of those goodies to take with us on the road. A delicious brown butter chocolate chip cookie, blueberry muffin, almond croissant & shortbread cookie. Tried this place today and it was a delight! I like that the location is a little off the beaten path, there's outdoor seating to get some fresh air, every single person on the staff is helpful and lovely, and the food is excellent. Their hours are pretty limited so, alas, I'll never have weekend brunch here or drop in after work, but they seem to mainly cater to the nearby office crowd and retired folks. But let's dive deeper into the food - they clearly use fresh ingredients and execute even basic dishes with a solid sense of cuisine. Everything was great (...I mean, my little bacon-parmesan egg souffle bite thing was a little dry compared to the wonderfully moist vegetarian option my companion chose, but both were super tasty). As a bit of constructive feedback, I think the ordering process can be a little confounding. There's not just a menu, but a dizzying array of pastries, all kinds of food inside the refrigerated counter, and so on. But there are no labels or prices, so while you're in line and feeling a bit pressed, you have to ask what things are and how much they cost one by one, which would get a bit absurd if you did it for everything you're keen on (and, depending on timing, there may be no one to even ask until you're at the register, by which point there's people behind you and the stuff you were wondering about is way out of sight). Likewise, in the refrigerated counter, there can be three different kinds of a single item and it's time to order but you don't know the difference or even realize what they're called, so the conversation ends up being, "Um, can I have one of those egg thingamawhosits?" "Oh, the (whatever it was called) or this other thing?" "No, that one!" "Just one?" "Does one mean...oh, do they come in pairs? Or is one actually one?" Then when they clarify that there's actually three types and that one has ingredients a, b, c, d, and the other w, x, y, z, and you've got people behind you, you wish they'd just label it so you can visually process everything in two seconds. And then you have no idea if you just ordered something that costs five dollars or twenty but have already asked a bunch of questions and just go with it. I ended up not inquiring about loads of interesting-looking food. But again, these are minor quibbles. There's a really inviting atmosphere and a sense that whoever is crafting the food really loves what they do. The food is vibrant, fresh, and delicious. I don't mean to wax poetic but you can almost get a sense of care and humanity in the food, and feel nourished by it, which is rare in my book. I'm noticing they also do catering and wouldn't hesitate to hire them for an event. A definite local gem! read more

Cute little spot in a strange location with friendly staff. I came to have lunch with a friend,. The menu had loads of delicious choices. My choice was the Asian salad with chicken. I did find it way heavy with onion, so I would not recommend it. However, my friend really enjoyed her sandwich, and all the other meals leaving the kitchen looked tasty. The pastries are eye candy for sure! I did takeaway two mini lemon meringues and some cinnamon twist- we both were underwhelmed by the pastry and did not think it was worth the price or calories.... Found this place off a quick Google search for breakfast while driving through Novato. The location seems a little off the beaten path, but defiantly worth it! The cafe is super cute with all kinds of goodies in the case, very inviting and delicious looking. The breakfast did not disappoint!
