Of all the cơm tấm places in the land, this one is my favorite. I recently dinnered here and accidentally ordered one of the massive combos. I shared the #2. For $19.99, you get 7 protein choices. 7! My order came with Julienne pork, steamed egg cake, Chinese sausage, sausage roll, tofu shrimp cake, grilled shrimp, and grilled pork. All over a bed of rice with some cucumbers + pickled veggies. Value wise, you get a lot of variety and food. I absolutely love the tàu hũ ky here. It's the best. It's meaty and has the crispiest tofu skin. When you order a regular entree, you get 2 pieces! Incredible. I just think the cơm tấm here is top tier. Each individual component of the dish is solid. Any combination of things will leave you satisfied. Cơm tấm Thuan Kieu is great for first timers, second timers, or old timers.

Delicious Bánh khọt + coco sauce

Been going to this place for decades. My family comes here for their infamous broken rice combo every time. (Tip!! always get the combo instead of the entree bc you get more bang out of your buck.) But today we were adventurous and tried their "banh khot" bánh khọt. 7 piece Bánh khọt review: Yall be sleeping out on the bánh khọt here! It tastes amazing. Krispy thin yellow pancakes. The khọts are 3.5 inches long in diameter. A bit of meat, 3 shrimps, served with a bowl of salad, pickled carrots/radishes, fish sauce, and coconut sauce. This is a must try here! The best bánh khọt I've ever had.

Don't get intimated by how empty the restaurant is lol! The portions are ginormous for $25-$30, you can split between 2 people. Everything is pretty good, even though the shrimp cake could be crispier. But this is def top 3 for com tam in garden grove for me.

Food is average, but portion size is reasonable. Not a lot of choices as it is mostly chicken. Customer service is non existent. There are better com tam places in the area.

One of my favorite places for Vietnamese broken rice dishes! The menu has a large variety. You can make your broken rice plate customizable with the type of meats and sides. The staff is very friendly and you'll be seated right away if you decide to dine in. Plenty of seating and it's always clean. There's an option for take out as well. The prices are very reasonable for their quality and big portions. I would highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!

"I've been a regular here for over 10 years. The marinade is a bit different from Westminster, and the meats and veggies were a little less flavorful, in my opinion." But the service here is a little bit nicer than Westminster!

Came in and was sat immediately. The service was very fast- we already knew what we wanted so we ordered off bat and our food took only 5 minutes! This is definitely my favorite com tam place, the shrimp paste wrapped in beancurd is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

This is a good place if you're craving com tam. I used to come here as a kid. The food is good and comes out quick. If you love com tam, then this is the place to get it! Lots of parking in the plaza!

I come here often to get their egg cake to go. It's the best quality and quantity for the price compare to other com tam places.

My husband came here by himself on a Saturday afternoon and dined in. He got the com tam 10 mon ($20.65) which he said was phenomenal. The portion size was also really big so he had food coma afterwards. We recently stopped by on a Friday afternoon and ordered banh hoi 10 mon ($30.44) to-go and drove 1 hour home before we got to eat it. The food was surprisingly still warm enough to eat but the egg roll was soggy. The banh hoi cost $10 more which was not worth it since it didn't taste super fresh or hand-made. My husband said the portion size was smaller too. They didn't give enough nuoc mam so we added our own. However, they did give a good amount of veggies though. The meat, fish, & shrimp were good but my favorite was the egg cake. The eggroll and Nem Nuong log were just okay. Lesson Learned: Only dine in at this restaurant.

Just happened to drive by the strip mall where this place resides. Only a few other patrons so there were plenty of tables available. Took a look at their extensive menu and decided on their 10 item plate. It was overkill for me as I couldn't finish it all. Items were decent and I definitely enjoyed the variety. Loved the soup, which helped break up my meat overload. Would consider coming back again.

Com Tam Thuan Kieu is a staple in the Garden Grove/Westminster area. My family loves this spot and they're my go-to for com tam because the portions are huge and the flavors are always on point. I love com tam because there's a variety of meats you can eat. They give you plenty of nuoc mam and soup to pair with the com tam / broken rice. Service is decent! They mainly speak Vietnamese so it would be best to go with someone Viet or point at what you want. The restaurant is huge so there should be plenty of seating, I've never waited here. I would highly recommend checking them out.

It seemed like they were in a bad mood and annoyed that they had to do their job. This wasn't a big deal at all, but it did take a little while for us to get seated, even though we had a reservation and they had called us 5 minutes prior to confirm we were coming. Granted, we were a large party, but it was kind of odd. We were also seated at two different tables next to each other instead of one long table. We were also only given 3-4 menus for a party of 15 and didn't get enough utensils at first. Our server was friendly and helpful, so I thank him for that. However, part of our party's food came out 5-10+ minutes before the rest of the party, so it was kind of awkward having to wait and the food got a bit cold. Maybe it was because they were busy, but I wish they timed the food a little better. I got the garlic noodles with filet mignon ($25). You can choose to have the meat cooked rare, medium, or well done. The taste was good, but nothing special (as I had read in other reviews). On a positive note, they did give us a complimentary appetizer (spicy wontons with shrimp) that I really liked! They also give us complimentary matcha cheesecake because we were celebrating two birthdays, so that was very nice of them. Overall, I don't believe they live up to the hype. Maybe it was just because we were a large party, but I had hoped to have had a better experience. I probably won't be back :/

Although it is a short bit of a drive, it's definitely well worth it! Located in a small plaza, it's easy to turn into, but parking might be a little scarce depending on when you go, as there are quite a number of small businesses within the plaza. Although there are two spots marked for the restaurant in front.....it's right next to the entrance and exit driveway, so keep your eyes open when backing in or out. Inside is very spatious, there is a lot of room that can be filled with tables, and a lot of walls. There were quite a few people dining inside, so it definitely wasnt a ghost town. Service was okay though....it took a while for the server to pop in and check on people, then he'd be gone for a bit. It was hard to see because of the walls. The food is definitely worth the drive! As others have said, this is a combination of two restaurant's menus, with a few slight tweaks. The garlic noodles are good...but not as flavorful as what we're used to. The calamari and popcorn chicken were nice and hot coming out, cooked crispy and juicy. The spicy wontons were also quite tasty......the sauce is sweet with a very slight kick at the end that hits your throat more than your tongue. I felt that the filet mignon and mushroom stir fry's flavor rivals the other restaurant we tend to frequent....but another scoop of rice would be perfect. The pear salad was a hit though. The flavor is just as good, if not better than where we usually go, and they give a generous amount of pear slices. We're used to only getting three or four pieces, but i counted at least 8 or 9 here. No refills on the drinks, and sodas are in cans that come with a metal cup of ice. Will we be back? Definitely! It's a much shorter drive and the food is just as good!

Plus the gentlemen working up front were very kind and helpful. I LOVE THIS PLACE…read more Don't let the simple decor fool you - the chicken here is hands down one of the best hole in the wall locations for chicken that I've been to. Unlike your typical rotisserie or fried chicken, this place roasts their chicken in a large clay pot and the marinade is definitely not something that you can find easily. The smell of the chicken is so inviting on its own but you won't be able to smell it outside of the restaurant - gather some confidence and open that door! We got 1 whole chicken, bot chien, crispy rice, and a side of dry noodles. All of the sides are great - I've tried at least 1 option every time I come back here but my favorite is the dry noodles and crispy rice. Their chicken pairs TOOO WELL with the pickled veggies and their special soy sauce. I like mixing a little salt, pepper and lime in mine to make it extra sour but honestly, the chicken is great even without the sauce. It's a small restaurant and flagging down servers is not difficult but I love that they will come to check in on you pretty often without you putting out any effort. I'd say this was the worst hainan chicken I've ever had. The crisy rice (1/5): the same rice was used for this dish. They just packed a big lump of it and fried it on both sides. I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!

The lunch set seemed like such a good idea with the choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert. For four of us, we got two lunch sets and two more pastas. We read that the bread and butter was popular so we decided to try. It came with toasted sourdough with a nice thick butter with miso honey butter that was flavorful. We also got the garlic parmesan fries which was as expected, nice and crispy with grated parmesan on top. We got the miso bacon carbonara which had thick pieces of bacon and heavy creamy and flavorful with slightly spicy kick in the carbonara sauce. The cavatelli had a great depth of flavor without being overpowering from the mushroom sauce. The soy garlic noodles tasted pretty clean without being overly greasy with a slight kick as well from the chili crunch. We all ended with the strawberry lychee ice cream made in house that came with fruit pieces of both lychee and strawberry on the bottom. Lacks the smoothness of churned ice cream so it's more on the ice side but the fresh fruit complements it well. I like the added sauce they have to it that makes it a little bit different than regular chicken gizzards. 5.5/5 Chicken Skin was great, who doesn't love some crispy chicken skin? 5/5 Tom Kha was absolutely delicious. The pork belly was SO tender. I think they probably sous vide it as it just melts in your mouth like butter. Even the Spicy Miso Ramen. FUN FACT: You can also get unlimited free noodles. I tried to finish the 2nd order of noodles but I was way too full. Service was awesome. Food came out super quick. Servers were attentive and kept coming by to ask if I wanted free noodles 3 times but maybe I'm just a slow eater. Kin is the place to go and hits the spot…read more My friends and I were sat down immediately at the bar for drinks, which was nice because we were trying to kill about 20 minutes. We got the Yuzu Fizz, Guava Calpico and Lychee Ume Margarita. Each drink was light and refreshing, and the star of the cocktails was definitely the fruity flavors. A solid way to start the night. The restaurant was bustling and it was clear everyone there was having a good time. Even though we were only at the bar for a short while, I could tell that this was a place I would definitely come back to.
