Parking: Plenty, but can fill quickly as they share it with other businesses in the same plaza. Food: We enjoy the food here. The chicken tastes good and isn't gamey like some other places can be. It tastes fresh and is warm every time thus far. We've have had the rice and pho, and like how most of the chicken is de-boned. It makes eating the chicken more convenient and less messy. Their ginger fish sauce pairs very well with their chicken. However, we do find that their portions can be a bit small (more on that later). Price: Pricing is relatively fair, considering they de-boned the chicken and everything tastes pretty fresh, but wish portions were just slightly more than what it is currently. Ambience: It's bright and open, and clean. Service: Can be a hit or miss honestly. We've had times where we came in and nobody came out to help us. One time, there was someone laying on the benches towards the back of the restaurant and no one came out to help us. Then other times, they can be more attentive. Sometimes the staff taking orders can be a bit snappy, but overall - just okay service. As previously mentioned above, we do find that their portions can be a bit small. Obviously this varies from individual to individual, but after our visits, we have found it is just enough where we're almost full, but not quite there. They have signs on the tables stating that you can upgrade and get a 1/2 chicken for an additional $4 more. We tried to order this after one of us wanted a bit more food, but we were told "no"; that it had to be ordered *before* our food came out. That's a bummer because there was no clear indication on the sign (pictured below) that it had to be done before our food came out. Guests may not be sure yet if they want more food, and if it is being offered, then there should be some clear statement/indication that it has to be done during the initial ordering process and that it can not be added after food is brought out. This restaurant was surprisingly large inside and very clean, with a slightly contemporary feel, especially compared to other Vietnamese spots in the area. They specialise in Hainan chicken, and it shows in every detail. Service was quick and extremely friendly. The owner checked on us multiple times and was genuinely warm and welcoming each time. I ordered the noodles with chicken and it was phenomenal. The chicken was tender and flavourful, and the dipping sauces were excellent. They also give you a mashed chili to mix in with the noodles, which added another layer of depth and just the right amount of heat. We also ordered sides of the young chicken eggs and other offal, served in a bowl of the broth used to boil the chicken. The soup was rich and comforting, packed with pure chicken umami. This is our go to place for Cơm Gà Nam An (Nam An styled chicken and rice dish). They're never really busy and the parking lot's a bit tiny since they're tucked in the corner. We went with our usual #1 order which comes with rice, the steamed boneless chicken, some veggies, a bowl of broth, and 3 sauces: a garlic paste (in love with this), soy sauce, and a chili garlic fish sauce (I think). We also decided to change it up and also order #3 mild spicy lemongrass chicken and rice dish. Good food, okay service, but shady pricing tactics have us never coming back. Keep in mind we never made any special requests, ordered exactly what was on the menu, and was never alerted to any possible options. First, we ordered a side of just ovum eggs. It comes with giblets - very little eggs - something we specifically did not order because we didn't want it. When asked, the server said it comes like that, despite the menu saying "just eggs" (translated). Would've let this slide until we got the receipt and saw all the bogus charges: - charged $4 for giblets with an extra $1 for just eggs. So you claim you can't give us just eggs (even though it's on the menu) and you CHARGE US EXTRA for what you DIDN'T give us? - charged $15.80 for sticky rice with shredded chicken with an extra $1.50 for...sticky rice. Huh?! That's like ordering a cheeseburger and getting charged extra for cheese! That's already part of the dish! We didn't ask for extra sticky rice nor did we get an extra portion, mind you. So shady. - charged $31.60 for 2 nam an classics with an extra $1.50 for thigh only. Okay, didn't know there were meat options let alone being charged extra for these apparent options. The server never once asked nor let us know. So many hidden fees! At least be upfront about these charges. But I guess saying "by the way, if you order the sticky rice, you get charged $1.50 extra for sticky rice" sounds pretty ridiculous, huh? While I understand using fresh herbs, this proves that the kitchen does not wash their vegetables properly. Stopped by to try something different along the chicken and rice category so I ended up ordering their #6 Xoi Ga Nuong Xa (Lemongrass Chicken with sticky rice). I was asked whether I wanted soft or crispy so I opted for crispy not knowing it was a $1.50 upcharge. It took a while for the water to be brought out even though I was 1 of 3 parties Friday evening and the other 2 have been served already. Also it's a sunny day be ready to be blinded by the glare from the front windows unless you sit deep in the back. The dish tasted great, but I wish there was more of a salad dressing. Chicken was flavorful and wasn't dry. The rice was cooked perfectly where it was both crispy and chewy. I was surprised to see the total coming out to being $18.80 and when I asked for the receipt, it did not have a breakdown. The dish was $15.80 but it just says 18.80 and my tip amount unlike a typical receipt that shows subtotal and taxes added. Eventually I found out the crispy option costs more after inquiring about the total. Would recommend this dish to anyone who wants something different from the standard hainan chicken, or chicken pho, but it's a bit pricey for me. Located in the very far corner of the Brookhurst Town Center, the restaurant is situated off a very populated street and there's a variety of stores surrounding it. Very clean and open space - 2 of the walls are full length windows so it brings in a lot of natural light. I ordered the Xoi Ga Nam An (I requested the Ap Chao Crispy Sticky Rice and White Meat with skin). I typically don't crave hainan chicken, but after trying this dish, I want to come back for more. The crispy sticky rice was indeed the right move. Despite getting the white meat, it was actually quite chewy and moist. The sauces really brought everything together - it didn't matter what I dipped my meat or rice into it was always a very savory and umami bite.
