Absolutely horrible. Brisket Plate. Beans and Potato Salad. Banana pudding. Brisket: Tough and ice cold. Tasted like it was sliced and tossed on a dirty flat top with some liquid smoke. Baked Beans: Straight from the can with too much mustard. They should be shut down for serving this Potato Salad: The potato salad was made with mashed potatoes and chunks of egg. Again. Should be against the law. Flavorless Banana Pudding: What a disaster. The custard was grainy as hell, shouldn't even been sold. No wafers. Tasted extremely old. This was a disaster and I'm getting my money back. Walker or whoever you are, someone in that kitchen needs to be retrained or replaced. read more

Besides the wait, the service was subpar! The waitress didn't seem like she knew what she was doing and when she carded someone in our party, she left after she checked it and asked for his ID AGAIN! Then, she took his ID back to the manager I'm guessing for about 5 minutes which, as a waitress at a restaurant, you should bring the manager out to check and not take away someone's ID out of sight! Went to the Collierville location yesterday. Food was ok, but $91 was too much to pay for the foolery that I had to deal with to place the order and then to pick up the order. Not sure if I dealt with 1 person or multiple people on the phone. I purchased 1lb of pulled pork this evening via the drive thru. When I got home, I found I bought 1lb of meat so dry no amount of sauce would help. That was 9 oz of the lb. The remainder was bark so dark and tough as to be inedible and a big piece of fatty skin. I called the restaurant and their response was "I'm sorry". Nothing else. Took my family from out of state to eat (Oregon) Arrived at 7:50pm (google says open until 9:30 pm) there was a sign that said closing at 8. Asked if they were seating and said yes. The young ladies were the most rude I have ever experienced. Grabbed silverware and said under her breath " this is ridiculous" walking us to table threw silverware and walked away with not saying a word. Waiter said you have 10 minutes to order. We ordered immediately and were done eating before any of multiple families. Though the food is good, I just don't think I could bring my family back to be treated as such. This is also the 3rd time we have been treated like this-hope the owners see this and make some changes. Service is horrible! read more

My friend and I have been wanting to try the new Commissary in Collierville for a while. Today we were out that way, and went there for lunch. OH, MY, GOODNESS! It is wonderful. The building is pretty much like the little Germantown spot on steroids! It's rustic and roomy with LOTS of parking. The food was exactly the same. Big portions on the BBQ plate, the always wonderful potato salad and deviled eggs, and the BBQ and sauce were excellent. We each got cake to share and the pieces were huge...Caramel and Coconut! Both devine. And the service was the best I think we've ever had. Angela our server fulfilled our every request with a smile and was so friendly and fun! And Randy the "front desk guy" was gracious and helpful, too. Do yourself a favor and go see them. The new spot definitely lived up to the reputation! read more

We asked for some recommendations on good bbq in town and we were directed here. Service was good and waitress was very helpful. The food was disappointing. I ordered the beef brisket plate. It came with beans, deviled egg and cole slaw. I asked if we could substitute the slaw for potato salad and waitress was very accommodating. The deviled egg was delicious, potato salad was very good. I didn't expect my beans to be baked beans, but not bad. The tiny biscuit that came with the meal was hard as a rock. The beef brisket was so tough, I could barely eat it. I was the most disappointed in this. Maybe I should have tried the ribs? I also ordered a coconut cream pie...another disappointment. The 'cream' was meringue (that's not cream) and the coconut portion was gooey and thick. Standard coconut cream is creamy like pudding. The best part of the pie was the crust. I ordered the half slab of ribs. The beans were good. The coleslaw was ok. The bread was unimpressive. The ribs were not good. The outside crust of the ribs were like shoe leather. Much like the Germantown Commissary the food is very good but Germantown is still better by a fat margin. I wouldn't go for the ribs, they just kind of sucked, membrane was still on and they were chewy with no rub and tasted like straight smoke, however their sausage is excellent, wings are solid, and shoulder is great also. The real reason I go though, is for the deviled eggs, Brunswick stew, and banana pudding! Get you some! Again though, the original commissary in Germantown seems to have better quality food each and every time. We ordered the onion rings also and a couple were just straight batter and kind of soggy. Overall it was just ok. I think in the future I'll just take the extra 10 min drive and go to the original commissary and wait the 30 minutes. It just seems to be better there. read more

Underwhelmed. I got BBQ chicken, a half, with green beans, and mac n'cheese. The chicken was not falling apart tender, like I expect from BBQ chicken, I had to use a fork and knife to get the joints apart. The breast was pretty much inedible it was so dry. Green beans were from a can, like everyone else's, so nothing to complain about there. Mac n'cheese is also like everyone else's. Decent service etc, clean, can't complain about anything else - but I won't be back. There are too many good BBQ places in Memphis area. read more

It really pains me to rate this 3 stars. I have been waiting so long and been so excited!! This rating is also based on a to-do order. The ordering part was easy enough after that it all goes downhill. The food was just horrible!! The BBQ had no smoky flavor and did not have that flavor that comes with time. It taste like it had not cooked long enough!! The fries are just horrible don't expect anything remotely good at all. The beans and slaw were awesome!! Also in the middle of a regular sized sandwich was a bone the size of a wine cork!! Yeah that was not fun biting into, tore a hole in the roof of my mouth!! We get alot of BBQ from Corkys and we're so excited about this opening up for some change. The food we ordered also cost us about 15$ more than Corkys and the sandwiches are smaller. Just disappointed in the over all value vs the quality of what you are getting... I guess I'll stay with Leonards!!! read more

We've been going to the original location for 10+ years. It is always our favorite spot to eat when we come to town. We assumed the new location in Collierville would be just as good as the original location, as well as offering more seating and improved parking. Going to the new location was a huge mistake. - ribs were undercooked or cooked at too high of a temperature. They were like leather. - brisket was the worst I've had anywhere. It was also like shoe leather. - chicken wings were too tough to chew. - banana pudding tasted like it was store-bought. We learned our lesson. We will go to the original location when we want Commisary food or to another favorite spot when we want ribs. read more

Love the Germantown location and glad to see that Walker opened one in Collierville. Their pit isn't seasoned up enough to put out the great flavor like at the Germantown location. Was a bit confused as we went through the drive through to see a "tip" line on the receipt. A tip at the drive through? Maybe they should adjust their receipt to just reflect the straight charge. Went at 4:00 on a Saturday. We were seated after a short wait. The waitress took our order and we waited...and waited..and waited. Finally she brought out 3 orders out of 5. About 5 minutes later we received the 4th order. About 10 minutes after that we received the last order...which was just chicken nachos! Not quite sure how that would be delayed. It made mealtime awkward since we don't like to start eating until everyone receives their food. We then order one piece of cake to share. Waitress brought ticket about 10 minutes after that and asked if we wanted anything else....We said our cake! Needless to say, service was awkward at best. Hope they improve over time. We had catfish and it was only 4 pieces of stripped catfish maybe 3 inches in length. This place is "HORRIBLE". I normally get the wings (dry rub), and they are generally ok - fries are not ever fresh. I always have to ask for fresh fries. When I order the wings in the drive-thru, it's as if they dip them in grease, from previously being fried, and serve them out of the window. The grease is heavy, and dripping! I asked about it a couple of times, only to get the response that the wings are fresh, etc. It's horrible, and we have resorted to just visiting the Germantown location. I understand they hire a lot of Collierville High School students - not a problem, but be a leader and teach them how to cook the food, and how to handle patrons. The manager at the Collierville location is argumentative and does not take constructive criticism well. He prefers to argue, argue, argue! What a horrible leader! Lately, the dining room is not well-kept, gnats flying around, dust everywhere, etc. We stopped going! I can only determine what will happen if the Health Department visited the place. read more

I've been to the commissary in Germantown about 4 times now and I'm super excited every time I go. For some reason I didn't feel this location was as flavorful and authentic. The food was still delicious but I think the ambiance made a difference. It felt this location is appealing more towards a modern sports bar that serves bbq. But our server was great. Third time going to the location in C'Ville and ordered the brisket sandwich. I should have learned my lesson from the last visit but oh no I had to return. I ordered through the drive thru and informed the associate of my last visit about the food quality. Same thing this time. I drove off decided to taste the meat which by the way had grill marks.....it tasted as if it was reheated in the microwave and placed on a grill to give the grill marks. I called the restaurant and the manager was nice and agreed to give me a refund. I did inquired with the cashier if they reheat the meat in the microwave and put in the grill to get the marks and she said no but c'mon how does brisket have pronounced grill marks....the meat was not good at all. Save your money. Do NOT go here. Drive the extra couple of miles to either the Germantown location on Germantown Road or go east to Corky's. The ribs were horrid. Dried out... tasted much more like Jerky than ribs. The onion rings were soggy, the nachos were heavy on the stale nachos and light on the barbecue. The beans weren't even good. Just don't see how there can be so much of a difference between this location and the Germantown location. But there is. They should take the Commissary name off the place before it affects their business in Germantown. But... the pie was good. I'll give them that. Walker.... you have to do better than this if you expect this place to stay open. read more
