Since I was craving something sweet, we decided to stop by Cold Stone. As soon as we got to the door, we noticed the "No Apple Pay or Tap to Pay" sign. With most people using their phones to pay, we thought that was definitely an inconvenience to their customers. For a Saturday evening, it was pretty busy so it was a bit of a wait but after a few minutes we were able to order. I decided on the "Love It" size and ordered the French Vanilla Ice Cream w/ Cookie Dough, Brownie and Oreo, which is my go-to. I love that they load the cup with an abundance of ice cream but I hate that you can't put the lid on without the ice cream spilling over. Either way, it was great and it hit the spot. I remember back in the day hahaha cold stone used to be friendly, welcoming and fun to visit. Not anymore. It doesn't seem to be only this location though, matter of fact is not a cold stone issue only. It is getting harder and harder to find good customer service. While there was a huge line this specific night we visited, the line was going out and around the door. Workers were working at a comfortable pace without a care in the world. No, I am not saying they should have been hustling and omg rushing and losing their minds, but at least care enough to acknowledge the people in front of you waiting for service while you go and put something away or pretend to mix the ice cream and even it out for the third time. No one was getting greeted or acknowledged, not even once they go to the counter. When one of the employees finally decided they had mixed the ice cream enough, or scrapped the cold stone enough times and refilled the half filled cookie container for the third time (2 cookies at the time) they would just ask "what can I get you" no hello, no thanks for waiting, what would you like? I don't know. The only person we had a good interaction with was the lady who jump on the register to check us out and at this point I felt like I needed to hurry up and go as to not hold up the line. I regret not getting her name to acknowledge her. Also, maybe someone could answer this but, they don't sing anymore when tipped... is that a company thing or just they don't do it anymore? Only reason why I scored it 4/5. I ordered a smoothie this time around and I was not disappointed. Typically, I order one of their specialty ice creams but last minute changed my mind. Now, weekends are BUSY. Expect to wait. Not a lot of sitting area. Inside dinning is still not available. But they have outdoor tables....which are usually occupied. Parking is horrible. I didn't personally order anything last night (Summertime), but my family did. I used to frequent this location faithfully years ago when I worked nearby...I loved the apple pie like ice cream with all the fixings: vanilla ice cream, butter pecan ice cream, pecans, walnuts etc. Wuuuu, the memories! Well one thing that has remained the same, the steady flow of patrons. I last visited this past Summer and the line was almost out of the door. My family was pleased with their order. While it isn't the best (milkshake and ice cream) they have ever had, they said they would return if asked. The pricing isn't too bad and sometimes you can catch a deal/coupon or two in the local newspaper. The service is pretty decent, but keep in mind everything is crafted to order. Check it out... Service was great! Very friendly staff. Fast service as well! The ice cream is always amazing, so I look for associates that seem happy. They did not disappoint. It is a tad bit pricy but everything is right now. Three cups were over $23 but I understand and the quality is worth it. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the womens room. I'll start with we absolutely love Cold Stone Creamery - we have our must order ( the apple pie a la mode and the chocolate devotion). This time we decided to drop in here, we currently stay out in Virginia Beach and were in Chesapeake doing shopping, movies, etc. This location was truly a disappointment. We knew the lady helping us was new when she asked if this flavor (the apple pie) was something they really had. Unfortunately, those that were working with her barely acknowledged her or wanted to help her. Eventually, she put it all together. Next I ordered my chocolate devotion creation with another lady and lets just say she added peanut butter (hint...its not in that creation). I mentioned to her that peanut butter wasn't part of the creation. She then scooped out some of the peanut butter and added chocolate to the top. Needless to say when we got home and I ate the Chocolate Devotion Creation it was more like a Reeces Cup creation. If offered the opportunity, I would recommend going to another location. This location always has awesome customer service. I noticed though, that every time I, or anyone else, leaves them a tip, they bust out into song. Let me start off by saying the customer service was great. There were a lot of people working and it was busy, and all but one of the staff were professional and engaging with customers (the only male staff member working seemed like he would rather be anywhere else). Now for the not so good. The ice cream was practically melted and was running out of the scoop. I watched as my shake was being made and it wasnt much thicker than the milk already in the blender container. When I get the shake it wasnt a shake it was practically milk, it had little to no consistency to it. For $10 im not expecting the world but at least a milk shake thats not made with ice cream thats melted coming out of the tub. Took my grandson's to Cold Stone last night. The place was so busy. I noticed all these young people working and smiling. It was absolute chaos, but they kept their smiles and kept working. I think only one was over the age of 18. I was so impressed by how they kept it together. I have worked retail for over 20 years, and it's sometimes hard to stay positive, when you don't have a minute to breathe. The manager should be proud of this team. Way to go! read more

Cold stone ice cream! Who doesn't love ice cream on a nice warm summer day. The smell of fresh baked cones is so inviting. As expected there's always a line and I finally figured out why! Well people have to sample EVERY ice cream before they decide which one they want! Jeeeezze... All flavors I had so far has been pretty good. I went for the mint chocolate chip ice cream today and they added plenty of chips. Side note to Yelpers: when you check in, you get free waffle cone. I frequently visit this location so I would say I have a pretty good feel for their customer service and how they work. Staff is almost always friendly and I can always count on them to have my usual flavors of mint with Oreo mix-in and my boyfriend's cake batter with sprinkles mix-in. It can get pretty busy in there but they are usually well staffed and things run fairly smoothly. We usually get our ice cream To-go and they offer lids for the ice cream and a bag so that's good! The only time I was kind of upset with them was when they gave me a really burnt waffle bowl... I didn't notice it until I got home because they just put it in the bag but they should just throw out the extremely burnt ones. One tip I have for the business is that they should have one person making your order while another person stays on register and rings up the orders. Last night though the birthday diva requested something different--Cookies & Creamery. Ahhh, yeah...soooo good! This review is long overdue from my visit at the end of January. I came in at 4:30pm and ordered a milkshake. I had paid for my order and waited for the milkshake to get made. The person behind me in line also ordered a milkshake. They received their drink before me which I thought was very odd. Next thing I know one of the employees comes over and tells me they ran out of milk and couldn't make my milkshake. WHAT?! They offered me ice cream in a bowl but I declined and asked for a refund. The cashier proceeds to tell me she can't do a refund. I was told I had to wait until 5pm for a shift lead to come in to give me the refund. First of all, you should know your supply of milk is running low. Check before you take orders you can't fill. How hard is that? Second, you shouldn't have a customer wait half an hour for a refund. Third, two customers order the same thing.. the first person in line should be taken care of first. Inside the floors were sticky and the napkin holders were empty. In the end, I waited half an hour for one of the employees to run to the store to buy a gallon of milk to make my order. No apologies for my having to wait either. Not even a "have a nice day" when I left. Unprofessional. I will never return. read more
