Unforgettable dessert experience. I split the Cookie Monster with my boyfriend, this was our last stop on a weekend vacation and it was the perfect finale. We left with blue stained teeth feeling victorious. Only thing I'd do differently is find one more person to split it with. It was a lot of ice-cream even for two people. My favorite part was that cookie on top.
The good: Lots of choices for so many different things! They have any and all toppings and lots of pre-made creations that you can order! We ended up doing the 4 choice ice cream or cookie dough flight and loved it all. Very ample portion size and all the flavors were good! It's nicely decorated inside and some cute fixtures. Service: was good! The bad: Sadly only one employee doing it all on a Tuesday afternoon! Want to come back and try one of their fin creations!

This place is it! An new take on shakes! It Will definitely fulfill any of your sweet tooth. Nice clean modern decore with plenty of indoor outdoor seating. The service was spot on. Soo many specialty milk shakes to chose from. They do also have seasonal shakes, so definitely ask. I ordered the "Doughnut Touch my Coffee and Cream" let me tell you it was divinely sweet! I couldn't finish it all. They are open daily plus Fri & Sat till 10pm for your late night cravings. Will definitely come back and try other shakes!
Good ice cream, pretty "extra" on the sizes and prices though. Ladies working the register were kind of rude, but it was pretty busy--and they get a little backed up on making the crazy milkshakes. $17 for a milkshake, but you do get to keep the mason jar--which is kind of cool. Not one of those places you go every time for ice cream because of the prices.

I'm a huge cookie fanatic, so I had to get it. It was absolutely delicious! My wife and I shared it. Staff was friendly. A unique experience. We're looking forward to going back with friends. Oh, word to the wise. The mason jars they serve with, you get to keep. There's a stainless steel wash center next to seating. So you can wash them off before taking them home.
The inside is clean and well lit, although a little small for seating. I ended up getting the Oat Tastically Dough Licious and it was really tasty and not too sweet. The staff were also really nice! They are a little pricy but I would definitely come back again for a treat.

The selections are vast, there are so many bowls and jars concoctions you wont be bored! The only thing I have to say is this: donut is stale, how long is the dough sitting out and used for how many days? And the ice cream is too sweet and not creamy at all. And the food coloring - do you know how green the almond pistachio flavor is? I don't think the purest of pistachio nuts can be that green. I get it, we eat with our eyes first but what is more alluring are pure ingredients - more cream/milk, less coloring, less processed sugar... especially when you like high with Nutella syrup, sprinkles, donuts, etc etc etc!!!

Everything was amazing, and I'm glad I don't live closer I would live 500lbs, Very clean inside, and the woman that was working inside was absolutely wonderful, they accidentally selected the wrong ice cream and instead of making it an issue they went above and beyond to fix the issue and give a new scoop! Definitely recommend if you are in the area give it a shot, yes it is pricey but yes you also get a TON of ice cream. 5/5
I was pretty excited to try The Yard. There are so many enticing choices, I went with the salted caramel cheesecake speciality bowl. I loved the presentation and it's definitely big enough to share. Sadly the downfall and the reason why I chose it was the cheesecake. It was still frozen and hard as a rock. Very disappointing but the ice cream itself was good.

If you're looking for an indulgent dessert experience The Yard Milkshake Bar of Virginia Beach is it! This is a must visit their milkshake creations or something completely over the top but in the best way possible. Loaded with decadent toppings Rich flavors and an impressive presentation it is definitely a special treat My service was excellent and thankfully she was able to help me and navigate the menu which is overwhelming there's so many choices to pick a very special and satisfying treat Be prepared though for a serious case of sugar overload! Ok, I definitely understand the hype now! For the longest, I've wanted to try The Yard Milkshake Bar but the lines were always wrapped around the building so we finally decided to stop by on a Sunday around 3pm and we were able to walk right in and order. As we looked over the menu, it seemed like the options were endless. Since this was my first time stopping in, I had no idea that they had ice cream available as well so I sampled the Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle ice cream because I couldn't quite decide if I wanted a shake or ice cream and OMG, it tasted fantastic. It was the perfect combination of everything! After consulting with my taste buds lol, I decided on the Oreo Cookie Milkshake which was really what I had taste for originally and my boyfriend chose the Chocolate Chunk Milkshake which was Non-Dairy. Can we have a moment of silence for these shakes?! The Oreo Cookie shake was so absolutely amazing! Every sip had small bits of Oreo chunks along with the creamy shake and it was probably the best milkshake I've ever had in my life! The Non-Dairy shake was actually just as delicious!!! We are definitely planning on going back very soon to grab another shake or to try some ice cream!!! The Yard Milkshake Bar is a definite 10/10!!! read more
Great spot! I first learned about The Yard from Shark Tank, then had my first experience in Atlanta. Loved it, so was pretty excited when I learned that I would have one nearby when moving to Virginia Beach. Went with a few friends on a week night and it wasn't busy. Only a few other groups were there. Service was friendly and quick and all of our choices were delicious. Prices are high, but it's definitely a luxury ice cream experience, so pretty worth it in my opinion for an occasional treat! read more
I love ice cream!!! I could eat it every day and be happy about it! Between here and the Sweet Spot, my sweet tooth stays happy! They have many different flavors of ice cream and also cookie dough. And guess what? They even have jars of ice cream to go. Now be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you want a massive sundae. And I recommend bringing a friend or two because I promise you will not be able to finish one all by yourself. I ordered the butterfinger peanut butter cheesecake sundae for $20 and it did not disappoint. It was filled with ice cream and peanut butter then topped with a slice of cheesecake, whipped cream and a Reese peanut butter cup! My only complaint was that the cheesecake was frozen and almost to hard to eat, so I set it aside for later. Well, I was almost at the bottom of the jar when I tried to eat the cheesecake and it was still too hard. Another pet peeve to note is that they don't bring out straws or spoons with your order, so you will have to get them yourself! read more
Although the menu looks a little overwhelming it's worth it for a quality vegan dessert. Although they only have one vegan milkshake/specialty bowl. The "Not Milk" specialty bowl was superb. By the looks of this big boy you might think it would be overwhelming sweet and unenjoyable it was the opposite. Well balanced decadence in a cup. I almost opted for the larger sized served up in a souvenir mason jar but I definitely couldn't finish a treat so large. In my opinion the mason jar is just right for two! The Yard is appropriate for your littles and would make for a cute night cap after a movie or dinner ( a light dinner) After I sat down and started enjoying my bowl I noticed that they do in fact offer not some extravagant options. Included but I'm sure not limited to * frozen lemonades * single or double scoops of ice cream * single flavored milkshakes * cones * mason jars to go Be warned the sweets here are good and maybe a little too deluxe. read more
The Yard has been on my list since they opened bc of their instagram-worthy shakes, but the wait times kept me at bay for quite a while. Seeing the lines and hearing about 2+ hour waits made me say, "Nah, I'll wait that out". Finally, yesterday, my fiancee and I stopped in to treat ourselves. I have to say, I'm super glad that we didn't wait 2+ hours. I would've been very disappointed. I wasn't overly impressed. It's much smaller inside than I thought. Based upon the photos, I thought this was more like a restaurant where you order at the table, but I saw it's more like ColdStone Creamery where you go up and stand in a queue, order, pay, and then wait. They had a very limited amount of tables, all full, so we had to stand for about 10 minutes before a table cleared up while we waited for our shakes. The shake took about 15 minutes (there was one group of two in front of us) to make and was brought to our table when ready. I chose the pint jar with the souvenir cup for $16 and went with the Cookie Butter Me Up which was comprised of cinnamon and cookie butter ice cream in a vanilla iced jar rolled in cinnamon sugar topped with a ton of whipped cream, some Cinnamon Toast Crunch pieces and a full-sized cinnamon bun. The cinnamon bun was lukewarm and had very little flavor though it was moist, the ice cream was decent but had chunks of cookie butter in it that was hard and weird texture.... I just didn't love it. My fiancee didn't want as much so he went with the smaller version for $11 (still a TON of ice cream) and chose the Holy Cacao bc he likes chocolate. His was chocolate ice cream with chocolate drizzle, topped with whipped cream, mini M&Ms, a chunk of M&M chocolate bark and a scoop of double chocolate cookie dough. He liked it but didn't love it and I don't love chocolate ice cream so he was all on his own. So, I didn't love his, mine was good but not amazing and when I saw someone's Cookie Monster shake go past me, I had serious order remorse.... It is a nice touch that they have a small station on the back wall with about 3 sinks where you can rinse out your souvenir cups and clean them before you leave. Unexpected and most places with such take-home items don't make it so easy to clean them up before you have to take them home. Nice. I don't think I will come back. It was $30 for two milkshakes and they weren't even that great. I prefer the Sweet Spot honestly, so if I'm going to spoil myself and make this bad of a choice, I want it to taste amazing and this just didn't to me. This is like a one-off touristy or teenage/kid spot to me. Like a tourist comes to get the glass to keep and/or you take your kids here after a big event to celebrate. The aesthetics in here are like mixing a classic ice cream parlor and a swank Soho restaurant. The lights are mason jars and dope track lights; the ceiling fans are sleek and aerodynamic, while the actual ice cream is on display like a good ole' fashion ice cream parlor. I actually heard "Ice Ice baby" playing while we ordered! Lol! But all this ambiance ain't cheap! One banana pudding "old school" milkshake, yes just one...was $18! That's not to say you are not getting an $18 experience because you are! I have been seeing this place pop up in Facebook here and there. It was always in my list to visit. I had the opportunity to visit in late August. This is definitely a hot spot. It's definitely a place many have on their radar as well. Parking can be tight, but it is there. When you walk in it is a little tight, there is tables indoors and outdoors but,'space can be very limited if it is crowded. This is definitely a place where you want to be able to eat there and not take it to go giving the size of most of their items. But, space is limited. I wish there was more of an area to enjoy the treats. It tasted ok. But it did not leave me super impressed. It tasted great but, it did not leave me wanting more. I love the sink they have available to wash off your jars from the shakes! Definitely thinking! I honestly feel like this place is just a one and done experience. The photos I see look amazing and tasty, but it just did not live up to the hype. read more
The buzz about this business is still very much alive. So much that it just made it to my one and done list. I say that in the nicest of ways. Arrived and there is very limited parking. The line was snaking out of the door. You order and then you wait for your number to be called. We were told that after you wait in line and then place your order it'd be a 45 minute wait to get your order. They do have jars of pre-packed ice cream in a freezer near the register if you'd like a grab and go option. *You still need to wait in line. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. If you order an item that is served in a jar, you get to keep the jar and there is a sink to wash it for cleaner transport. Be aware, they don't have lids to give you for any uneaten portion or your souvenir jar. After about 50 minutes, my ordered items arrived...incrementally. I had ice cream on a waffle cone that came soft and melting. My son's chocolate, peanut butter and brownie sundae didn't disappoint. My guy's milkshake came out much later and seemed thin and not thicker consistency like most milkshakes are. Capable of contactless pay and they do offer a military discount. During the warmer days, plan accordingly as you're guaranteed to wait. There are a few televisions inside and outside. Staff seemed overwhelmed with keeping up with the cleanliness of the tables, trash cans and sink area. This could be due to short staffing that many businesses are facing but sanitation shouldn't be paused. A very cool concept but I'm happy with the one opportunity I allotted to this venture. read more

3.5 star verdict after a few visits. Like the innovation and assortment of menu items combined with novelty mason jar glass. Not a fan of the dessert quality, considering pricing and waits caused by (over)hype. My sons liked the mint green machine and peanut butter brownie bliss treats; both were cold and sweet, but to me, had an unnatural chemical aftertaste I couldn't place. Customer service was hit and miss; first visit, cashier and another employee were friendly and helpful...take 2, I tried engaging line employees with zero return convo luck! Restrooms on site with shared shopping center parking; limited indoor and outdoor seating; second space in the back has a few more picnic tables. Despite the Jason's Deli number system issued at payment, they still shout out numbers when items are ready. read more

Long wait times in order to order and receive your ice cream but its well worth the wait! I love the aesthetics! you even get a nice mason jar that you can wash out and take home after your done. There is actually a sink in the lobby for you to wash it out yourself. Unfortunately they don't have tops to the jars but you can ask for a large container that includes a top and it will all fit in there in order for you to take your treat home. It took the staff about 30 mins to make our two orders. My daughter got the cookie monster and I got the green mint monster. You will pay about $15 each for the specialty pints. Everything was so delicious! I cant wait to go back and try the hot chocolates! read more

My frozen lemonade was overwhelmingly sweet. It was way to sweet for someone like me who doesn't eat many sweet, sugary foods. The drink was very well put together and the flavor was just the right amount of lemony to remind you that it's still a lemonade. My full order was for a frozen lemonade and one scoop of mango ice cream in a cup. My party waited for at least an hour for these two items. The staff was nice and polite as they ran around the shop taking orders and what not. It is a bit difficult to hear orders being called especially if there are lots of people inside the shop. The shop is extremely small and it can get really busy at times. While I was there people were literally standing shoulder to shoulder waiting for their orders. There was no where to sit or stand. The yard was also a bit dirty when my party walked in. There was trash on the floor and the table I finally got to sit down at was pretty sticky. read more
Finally checked The Yard off my list, but I can't say I understand the hype. After waiting 15 minutes for our desserts to come out, and then snapping a photo of my "over-the-top" milkshake, all I was left with a tiny little milkshake for about $17. I was under the impression that these would be bigger, but it's the whipped cream and toppings that give it the illusion of being a good size. Maybe we just eat a lot of sweets, but my husband and I drank this whole thing in about 3 minutes-- we split one because no way we were getting two at that price! Though it does include the glass jar which I happily took home. I'm glad we went to check it out, but I don't see us going back anytime soon. Maybe a once in a while luxury dessert spot? read more
Tasty ice cream with innovative way to construct together, it was super fun to eat them , especially in the beginning, when we try to figure out how to get to the ice on the bottom . When ordering, choose the jar, it looks prettier and more "fun" to wash it out after done eating at the sink before you take it home. And yes these ice cream are on the pricier side. The service was pretty good. I've been to The Yard Milkshake Bar twice ever since their location in VA Beach opened. The first time was a 2 weeks after they first opened. I remembered we wanted to try to go during their opening day and weekend, but every time we pass the area, the line is very long. Like circling the parking lot long. We tried to come back again, but since the drive is about 30 minutes away and it's around winter, we didn't come back until the last week of January. The only reason was I was craving for some good ice cream. If you are planning to go to The Yard (especially on the weekends and on warmer days), be prepared to wait in line. Trust me, it's worth it. This dessert shop is really small and only less than 10 tables and chairs inside the restaurant. The only also have an outside seating, which is nice. I never tried their outside seating cause when were lucky that there's an available inside table. They have a large selection of ice cream and toppings. You can also pick if you want a sundae or a milkshake. I noticed on our last visit that they also have a hot chocolate as well. For an additional charge, you can get their souvenir mason jars. We always opt in on the mason jars because it makes our sundaes/milkshakes, prettier. Their ice cream are decorated meticulously and are really pretty to look at. Before I take my first bite, I always feel bad because I feel like I am ruining it. As for the taste, their ice creams and toppings are very delicious. Their ice creams are not too sweet. The price are a little bit expensive compared to the other ice cream shops, however you are paying for beautifully tasting and delicious ice cream. With than in mind, I can tell you it's definitely worth it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They were accommodating and very patient with me every time I try to figure out what I want on my ice cream and while I mentally calculate how much the toppings will cost us or if it is still free. I think that the only reason that i am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 starts was because they gave me a milkshake on our last visit instead of a sundae (which was what I ordered). I was never a fan of milkshakes because I know I can finish it right away. When I got my ice cream, I noticed 2 things.Iit is melted and I barely see my toppings. Like I mentioned I never order milkshakes so I was just thinking that it melted. Halfway through my dessert, that's when I noticed how I am almost done with my ice cream and my boyfriend's ice cream was solid and he only ate 1/4 of it. Honestly, I was more mad at myself because I wasn't paying attention and I won't have leftovers, which was my intention. Despite that small mishap, we will still visit this dessert shop. Its really a one and done kind of spot unless you just really prefer over priced milkshakes Service can take a long time on busy days so i recommend going when u have alot of free time, the ambience is cute, clean, and rustic, they have a rinse station for your jars which is nice to keep the mess down. Wow, wow, wow. For the grand opening to be a short while ago, I was surprised to see a line out front. To an even better surprise, the line wasn't long at all. I would definitely invest in checking out the menu beforehand, though it can be quite an overwhelming experience! I didn't know exactly what I wanted so I settled for a "build your own" milkshake with the heavenly hazelnut ice cream and a brookie mixed in + on the top. The ice cream/shake was delicious! Brookie on top was just okay. Finished in one sitting as I didn't have too much decoration to eat through. Pricing is a little eh for what it is, but I would visit again to try the heavenly hazelnut ice cream on its own. They are killing it in the imagination department when it comes to flavors & looks! read more
FUN & FABULOUS!!! I'm totally in love with The Yard. My friend and I were the second people there. No waiting. It was the perfect time to go. The staff were very friendly and they had some good music going. Even the staff enjoyed it. What a fun happy atmosphere. Huge menu. Hard to deside on just one. Everything looks good and sounds good. I got the Seaside Sensation. I enjoyed mine with a spoon. So many levels of flavor. It was AWESOME!!! Seaside Sensation-cookie monster ice cream with marshmallow drizzle and vanilla iced jar rolled in crushed graham crackers (looked like the beach) topped with sunset whipped cream. A white chocolate seahorse and a cotton candy tidal wave. I LOVED EVERY BIT!!! This place would be a great date spot or just meet a friend like I did. We had a blast. It was the best way to eat ice cream. We had fun watching all the wild milkshake creations. The milkshakes are so fancy. It was like watching fireworks. We ooooed and awwwwed as the wild milkshake creations went to be deliverd to people. My friend got the praline pecan waffle milkshake. Praline pecan and butter pecan ice cream in a chocolate iced jar dipped in crushed cone. Topped with whipped cream,fudge and maple syrup drizzle and a waffle on top. Can I just say Oh My Gosh GOOD!!
