I haven't had Kohr Bros since I was a kid, and I honestly forgot just how good it is. On a hot Virginia Beach day, this really hit the spot. The frozen custard is light, airy, creamy, and super refreshing without feeling heavy. The Oceanfront has leaned hard into over-the-top dessert trends in recent years. Giant milkshakes loaded with candy and towering sundaes are fun to look at, but they're not always what you want when you're walking the boardwalk in the summer heat. Sometimes simple wins. My little brother and I both appreciated having something that actually cooled us down instead of weighing us down. I'm sure I've been to this Kohr before but we love their soft serve. It is by far the best at the beach and they have about 3-4 locations along the beachfront. This one tends to be less crowded bc it's further away from the main area so if my husband has a craving sometimes we pull up here and he hops out to get it. Tonight, we were able to pull right up with no line and he was back in the car in about 2-3 minutes. We love their swirl flavors. His favorite is the vanilla and orange that tastes like orange dreamsicle. My favorite is the mint swirl. Noms. Highly recommend you get one of their chocolate, sprinkle waffle cones. read more

This Kohr Bros location was a good experience. It is conveniently located near the Atlantic Fun Park on Atlantic Avenue. The ice cream and customer service is good. The store lobby is large enough for large groups, including tourists, and entry is a wide, open air entrance, making ingress and egress quick, easy, and comfortable. Always a good time here. First time having frozen custard style ice cream and really enjoyed the texture. It's more creamy than frozen yogurt in my opinion. The peanut butter and chocolate was great, definitely would have that again. The strawberry was ok, I would try it with banana if I had it again. Review #186 - 2020 I've had Kohr Bros bookmarked for quite a while, but we rarely have any room left for dessert whenever my girlfriend and I go out to eat. Luckily, we didn't enjoy our lunch too much so we had room on this particular day. We showed up at around 1:30 PM on Tuesday, October 20th, and there was no one else in line since it was a cold, gloomy day at the beach. I went with the chocolate & peanut butter swirl since my 4-year old daughter loves both flavors. The flavors were good, but I don't think I liked the consistency too much because it felt like I was eating heavy cream. My daughter and I shared a cone and we couldn't even finish half of it and my daughter loves ice cream!! My girlfriend went with plain vanilla and she finished hers before we even walked away from the front of the store so maybe hers was better than ours or she's not picky with ice cream consistency. I didn't get the history lesson like Marc A., but if you have an extended stay at Virgina Beach, you might as well taste a little bit of history. Kohr's offers a variety of interesting frozen custard flavors (including mint/chocolate swirl or strawberry/banana swirl) or you can stick with the classic vanilla/orange sherbet swirl. I would agree that the frozen custard (not sure how much it differs from soft-serve ice-cream) is alright at best and only slightly better than Dairy Queen. What can I say? It's a half decent ice cream place located on Virginia Beach. The ice cream is alright and the prices are pretty reasonable. It's basically a nicer dairy queen. It won't rock your socks off but if you need your ice cream, this is a pretty good place to spend your dough at. However, the staff here is pretty funny. The guy who served my small group kept talking about Kohrs, how it was better than dairy queen. They use Grade A milk, the company was started by a school teacher, it was made famous in 1919, they've been around forever, etc etc. The guy would not shut up about how great the company was. He even showed us brochures about the different locations and everything else. Personally, I think he was lonely. The off season at Virginia Beach can be heart breaking it seems. read more

Living in Virginia Beach all my life I thought this was a tourist trap for over priced soft serve. It is actually really good. Very traditional concept compared to Skinny Dip or Sweet Frog but good for just some solid flavors and sprinkles. The service was very friends and incredibly fast even on a busy night. read more
