This is the 4 cones we received today.

Today is the 13th of July 2025, we arrived at Gerald's at around 1:45 to locked doors and a sticky note that read "be right back"and no other explanation at all. We had to go across the street to the bagel shop and wait for the shop to be open again, while sitting in the bagel shop I watched 3 people also attempt to enter the shop only to get in their cars and leave. I finally called to ask if the shop was open to get a rude employee tell me the shop was only closed "for like 5 min" which was a lie. Once we entered the establishment we attempted to get the flight of six cones only to be told we could only get 4 cones in the flight. Even though when we came last time we were able to get 6 cones in the same flight. The employee was rude and as long as she is working here I will be sure to tell people not to come to this shop.

Brownie Sunday with pistachio

Cute spot with delicious dessert options. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The brownie sundae with pistachio ice cream was delicious.

The elite of all ice cream. Being located in the hilltop area we knew to expect high prices, but I'm going to have to say it's definitely well worth it! It's a great place to get fantastic tasting ice cream but at an expensive cost. You're paying for quality and you will get it! Next to the Starbucks, Gerald's is wheelchair accessible with a curb cutout close to the Starbucks side. It was Sahara hot outside so we didn't sit out on the patio seating which are clearly delineated by the designated signs placed on their outdoor seating. It's a charming, clean and bright establishment which gave me all the vibes of an old ice cream parlor marries contemporary design feel. The bright colorful ice cream murals on the right side and the benches and tables allow enough space to roll a wheelchair under the table at the end of the booth seating. To the left are high tables that looked like ice cream cones. They have a separate line for pick up orders and cake orders. They have a list of flavors that aren't super extensive but some of the names can be lengthy. You can get milkshakes, ice cream in a waffle cups/cones and cake cones or in a cup or a banana split. I had a waffle cup with two scoops - mint chocolate chip aka their "mojito" and the banana, peanut butter and chocolate flavor (something like that) with chocolate sauce added. They top it with a colorful meringue drop. It was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Creamy and smooth and it tasted how ice cream should taste and how most people envision ice cream should taste. Not one ounce of disappointment! My husband chose the cake cone and the very dark chocolate which was very very yummy! Our friends they split a banana split and they said it lived up to the true definition of a banana split with the Neapolitan ice cream and the various toppings and they were delighted there were three cherries on top instead of just one! They do have artisan chocolates which looked fantastic! But because it's high quality and art the prices are also steep. Like $2.25 for one small piece. I even quickly glanced to see a sign stating those particular chocolates were seen /used in the movie "the hunger games." That's cool, but I'm NOT THAT hungry for some chocolate ;-) I'm not the type to be persuaded to buy something just because it was in a movie or a celebrity eats it. My sister was kind enough to buy me a piece but I wasn't feeling rich enough that day ;-) haha. So I didn't try it. They definitely look tasty though! The staff were friendly and I think my sister might frequent there more than we know because they seemed to know her. Haha Bathrooms are straight back and the women's bathroom is on the left. Plenty of space and handicap accessible. I was wheeled in a wheelchair.

Butter pecan with something they were selling on the counter. Not sure what it's called & wasn't told the name when asked.

Wanted to try a new ice cream place. Found this little gem. Immediately, cute ambience when walking in & was greeted. The ice cream is not on display like a normal ice cream shop, but they have flavors listed on the wall. I tried a few flavors, but after the 3rd sample (I was sharing with my husband) I was told there is a limit to two samples per person. I tried bourbon butter pecan, coconut caramel, & ube. The bourbon butter pecan was delicious, but I'm not a big bourbon fan. Coconut caramel & ube were too sweet for me. Because of the 2 sample rule, I just opted for butter pecan because that's a simple flavor that I love. The butter pecan tasted as if it was missing something. Tbh, didn't love it. They serve each ice cream in a cup with a cute little meringue dollop. I thought it was the cutest signature! I love how they offer in house baked pastries, Adffogato, & other desserts. I'd visit again, but only if I was in the area.

I've been waiting to check this ice cream shop out for sometime. It was a nice sunny day and I was in the area so we decided to give it a go. We walked inside and was greeted with a warm hello from the workers. They have a huge menu on the wall which was quite overwhelming. The desserts on display all looked so very good. We went ahead and ordered. The kiddos got a banana split to share and customized it with their own ice cream flavors 2 scoops of strawberry and 1 scoop with Madagascar vanilla bean with their topping of choice also. I opted for the kid size of the ube ice cream. Our total ended up being $25. Wow! Didn't think I was gonna spend that much on ice cream. They were fast at getting our orders out and we sat down inside to eat up. The ube ice cream was disappointing to me. I didn't get the ube flavor like I've had at other places. It was definitely missing a lot. The kids banana split however was on point and really delicious. The strawberry ice cream, a basic flavor but was executed really well and tasted fresh. The Madagascar vanilla bean was really good. You can really taste the vanilla and it was nice and creamy. The kids devoured their Ice cream with nothing left over. It was their first time ordering a banana split and now they want to order it again. They do have lots of unique flavors available so I would go back to try the other flavors. The price is pretty steep for ice cream but the quality is all there and you can definitely taste the difference.

I've been DYING to try an ice cream flight & luckily we were close to this place on a Saturday night! There was a ton of parking and plenty of seating inside & outside. Inside they only had 2 workers, they were steadily busy but the line moved quickly & they were super friendly! They have a large variety of ice cream including sorbets and vegan ice cream as well as cakes and fancy chocolates. They also have lots of topping options.. We came for the flight & got one without cones! Ube: tasted good but texturey (probably from the ube) Cookies & cream: delicious & creamy Tiramisu: a little heavy on the rum flavor but was decent Apple Pie: also pretty good Very dark chocolate: rich, creamy perfection Blueberry crunchy crunch: creamy & flavorful! We would return to try other flavors, or possibly one of their cakes because they looked delicious.

Wandered in on accident while in the area shopping at Hilltop and wanted to take a look. I knew I wasn't going to purchase ice cream because I was on my way to a lunch date but I wanted to peak my head inside and see what Gerald's was all about. I've been following their Insta for a while now and drooling over the ice cream and cake goodness. It's spotless inside and reminds me of an old soda shop. There was a friendly young gal working behind the counter and no one else inside at the time (mid-day on a Thursday). She greeted me warmly and I told her I was just looking at the menu and cakes because I had never been in. She happily showed me the cakes in the case and said they make them all fresh in-house daily and then explained all the ice cream flavors and even said their vegan flavors are delicious because they've worked hard to perfect those recipes and make sure they're good. It smelled really nice inside, they have tons of flavors, and those cakes looked amazing. I will come back for a sweet treat now that I know exactly where it is, and I will be sure to update my review once I've done that. Based on this interaction - they have a clean store, with a great menu and selections and a friendly and welcoming staff.

Such a delicious ice cream shop! They have so many flavors and you can add yummy toppings. I got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone. I'll definitely go back!

I suspect that I'll be updating my review to 5 stars in the future. I'm an Ice Cream Queen. I was so excited to give Gerald's a try. I have been stalking them since I read about their shop opening earlier this year and saw the storefront signs pop up- I think that was in January? It feels like forever ago. I picked the perfect day to do make my first visit after finding out they recently opened- National Ice Cream Day! Well, I thought that would be the perfect day. Gerald's Ice Cream Bar features small-batch ice cream and they are a new business still trying to figure out their production. This combination meant that when I visited around 5pm they were almost out of all of their flavors. This was disappointing since I had my heart set on an ice cream cone flight and even brought a friend with me to help me conquer the 4-cone flight - we even decided we may get 6 if we couldn't decide on flavors. Instead I opted for the most unique sounding flavor that I knew I couldn't find anywhere else- butterscotch bourbon pecan. My friend opted to just wait for another day when none of the available flavors really spoke to them. My scoop was delicious! The bourbon actually came through in each bite and the pecans really brought all the flavors together. Truly delicious, creamy, delightful ice cream. They even had a little sugar flower on top which was a cute touch. Not what I had my heart set on, but I didn't leave too disappointed. The shop itself is super cute, although I found the menu and pricing wall to be a little overwhelming. Maybe that was just from me trying to change my gameplan on the fly. Social distancing/pandemic notes- I loved that they had several tables outside so I could enjoy my ice cream there instead of going back to my car. All the staff members were wearing masks and gloves, they were also friendly and quick to assist us. There was plexiglass in between the customers and the employees too, I appreciated the extra layer of protection. I'll absolutely be back in a few weeks and hopefully catch them on a day when they have more flavors. They also had cakes and gourmet chocolates which I look forward to checking out.

Lovely seating outside

My number one thing that I'm most excited about is that they have ice cream flights. You get to order 4 or 6 different flavors. This makes a great date with my husband. We meet up at hilltop after work for a treat. First thing I notice is how sleek and clean it is. Super friendly staff. Such a unique take on ice cream. This is only my first review. So many unique different things to try I will have to write multiple reviews about this place. These are just a few unique things about Gerald's. -you get to watch them making the ice cream -ice cream is made using a liquid nitrogen process -vegan choices -they have international flavors (I'm super excited to try) I loved the Horchata with a waffle cone. It is like eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch. -oooo the sorbets. So good -A=alcohol and this means they make yummy ice cream with alcohol in them. They are so smooth and tasty you must try them. They don't just serve up ice cream. Their ice cream sandwiches are over the top amazing. The ice cream is unique and then the cookie around it is unique also. The flavor choices will make your mouth hang open. You can also special order whatever combo you can come up with. They sell ice cream cakes but if you don't want a whole cake they sell slices. And you get a pretty big slice too. I am sorry I have only talked about a few items but we will be going back again and again to try out all the other ones and I will have to tell you about them then.

What is there to say... this is a super solid ice cream spot! Located in a strip there is lots of parking and a few tables outside. I absolutely love the overall vibe of the store. During the day it has so much natural light, with colorful artwork and a huge menu hanging on the wall. SUPER clean! Gerald's definitely gives some nostalgic feels, transporting it's visitors back in time with the music and little paper hats the staff wear. Oh, and the ice cream is all natural and made in-house. Immediately as we stepped through the door I KNEW I had to get a waffle cone. There were way more flavors than I was expecting, and they had quite a few unique ones I've never heard of before! The staff who were scooping were super nice. Of course, I ended up going with good ole Cookies & Cream, and my husband got Pistachio. After getting a photo op with the ice cream, we grabbed a seat a dug in. Honestly, you can't go wrong with the ice cream. 10/10! My husband actually said it's the best ice cream he's ever had. Next time we definitely want to check out their milkshakes. They also have William Dean chocolates for sale and we think they would make really great gifts!

Service was great. They made everything quickly and answered all my questions! Definitely would recommend.

Gerald's Ice Cream Storefront in Hilltop

-- Vibes -- The place had a bright and airy feel, with lots of white and silver accents along with pops of rainbow color. On a summer Sunday late afternoon, the place was slow, so there was plenty of places to select from for seating, indoor or out. -- The Ice Cream Menu -- I saw delicious-sounding flavors mentioned in others' reviews, but not all flavors are available at all times, allowing seasonal offerings to be featured. They note "A" for alcohol on their menu by flavors that contain alcohol, which is an appreciated feature. They also have vegan/non-dairy ice cream available (+$0.75) and sorbet. -- The Ice Cream -- Natural ingredients made in fresh batches daily puts Geraldo's off to a good start. We tried their Pungo Peach as it featured fresh, local peaches. It had great, real peach flavor! The mouthfeel was not as creamy as I'd expected: it was a bit stringy; they seemed to have used diced peaches as well as peaches blended in with the ice cream. It also seemed like the ice cream had crystallized (there were larger ice crystals in the ice cream rather than small ones), which added to it coming across as less creamy. I loved the flavor, but not the consistency and therefore not really the process of eating it. (There was also a piece of peach pit in my ice cream.) I love sweets and enjoyed the ice cream for its fresh ingredients and average consistency, but it didn't leave me wanting more. To be fair, I've only tried the one flavor. -- Other Offerings -- Geraldo's has partnered with local Hummingbird Macarons & Deserts (a boutique bakery and desert caterer in Norfolk) and William Dean Chocolates (handmade artisan chocolates from Florida) to offer those additions. Geraldo's also has various ice cream treats ranging from the old fashioned float, sunday, and ice cream bar to a few unexpected twists like ice cream cannoli. There's a wide selection with something for most customers. Even an ice cream flight! -- TLC -- There were at least two staff working there, and the person who waited on us was friendly, polite, and helpful. The indoor area was clean and maintained, as was the outdoor area with the exception of a few crumbs on a table. -- Overall -- Cute shop in a central area with a clean environment and helpful staff. The ice crystals in the ice cream were the main drawback for me. I thought the $4.25 for one rounded scoop (pictured) was a fair price for quality ingredients made fresh that day. If we are specifically in the area I would give it a second chance out of convenience, but unfortunately I wasn't blown away by the primary product the shop features (aka ice cream), and there are lots of competing options in VA Beach.

She told us of Prosperity Kitchen and Pantry. Upon entering I was instantly taken with the decor of live tropical plants, the abundance of comfortable seating areas and the array of sweet treats behind the counters. We ordered some humongous cookies and two cupcakes. The cupcake icing was delicious, but the cake portion was sadly a bit dry. The cookies were to die for!!!! If one is in search of a unique little pastry shop for breakfast or for an anytime treat, we highly recommend Prosperity Kitchen and Pantry!

Snd at the end we were not sure if we were clearing our table or not. So it took us a few minutes walking around and trying to watch people. I'm still not sure if there were other things we could have ordered or if it is what you see if what they have for that day. We stood in line and that went very fast. Ordered the veggie slice and the marinara slice. When we got up to the register to pay she rang it up and said do you want anything else. Well I said do you have drinks available? You get to choose your tea. I absolutely love that. I got chamomile tea. But she should have asked if we would like something to drink or have a drink menu or something. There was just a disconnect with how this place works. And if it is your first time I'm clueless. The food was wonderful and they had plenty of ice water that you serve yourself. We were riding our bikes at the oceanfront so the nice cold water was great Pros and cons -Friendly staff, but not super informative -the food was wonderful, but not sure if that was the whole menu. -tea selection was good and my chamomile tea was wonderful, but I would have liked to have read a menu of what drinks were available. You known to make it easier for the person ordering. Inside and outside seating. And it was nice inside. Some of the seating outside had nice umbrellas. It does tend to get hot down at the oceanfront so I'm so thankful for all the different options. I want to go again but I want to go with a friend who will know how everything works
