My friends and I started to come here a lot when we were all in to bubble tea way back when. I've been a long time 3x a year customer for a long time esp when I worked in the shopping center. There was one occasion a few months back we had come and I wasn't feeling good so I decided I would sit there while my other two friends got drinks. I was given a hard time by the cashier who berated me for not ordering a drink and asking for water. Seriously?! I have bought coffee and hot mochas here before. The only place I found that serves Pudding Milk Tea. It is awesome. Sounds funny but just try it. Similar to the milk tea from Karin that was discontinued last year. Parking could be hard to find on the weekends. Mostly Asian crowd. A lot of times I am the darkest one there. My friend got kicked out because she had a an outside drink but she was part of out group that did buy. I would understand if it was crowded but there only 4 ppl in there. I ordered the pearl milk tea which tasted quite odd to me, I couldn't necessarily figure out if it was the milk or just a different tea. Not a very big fan of boba here, it seems overcook giving it too soft of texture. I also ordered the lychee smoothie and was disappointed because I ordered a smoothie, and ended up getting a slush. read more

This is a very nice place to me. All the drinks sound very good and the lychee green tea is my favorite drink. The shave ice is also very good. It's big enough to serve two. Although the place seems a little bit small, the surrounding is large enough for students to study and people to get along with. It's very relaxing and wonderful to spend the whole afternoon to drink healthy tea and read newspapers and magazines, or get some desserts after lunch or dinner in such a nice place. The owner also runs the business very well, even though they have strict policies such as "Each customer must order at least one item or drink". Some people may feel uncomfortable with that because they may think they are being pushed to purchase something. But as the saying goes: there is no free lunch. If everyone just came to sit down and ask for water, how the owner gonna run the business. Once, I saw three people come into the store and just sit down and start talking. When the staff asked whether they wanted to get some drink they ignored him at first and then asked for free ice water. They didn't seem to want to order anything. I heard the staff explain the policy to them and then one of the guys got mad and started starting. He was yelling so loudly and speaking out some words that I didn't know because it was a foreign language to me. I was so surprised and thought, "OMG, why you so mean, just because they don't give you free water"? Finally, they left the store. I tried their lavender milk tea, but for the price, I didnt think it was worth it for almost 5 bucks. But definitely try the milk tea, its less expensive and alot better tasting. This used to be my favorite hangout spot. But it has been a while since I've returned, but I found their bubble milk tea isn't as fresh as it used to be. They pre-make the milk tea in these gallon jugs that they pour out into a cup once someone orders one. There are a lot more younger faces at the counter, but they remind me of robots taking your order with little emotion and reaction. I was recently chatting with a friend while sipping my milk tea in the store and we saw a medium-sized roach crawling on the wall. Came here because I was in the area. We tried the shaved ice and chose 5 flavors/toppings, but it didn't seem like the cashier was paying attention, because I had to repeat my order multiple times... Also if you order fruit in your shaved iced, it doesn't actually come with fruit. Instead, it's flavored syrup or jam. Great spot for boba. This is where I get my fix of taiwanese drinks. Their bubble tea is consistent and the pearls are not too sweet. My favorite drink is the papaya milk made with fresh papaya. This place is one of my favorites for boba milk tea and has been around forever, the O.G. boba place in town I believe. The staff used to be pretty unfriendly but I haven't had that recently at all. They're efficient and it is usually pretty busy, only a few tables open whenever I go. I crave the Milk Tea from here, which is pre-made and of course I order boba in it. Husband likes the Matcha Latte which is made with the same milk tea base I order and then they add the matcha mix into that. The milk tea has been a little watery lately, since I crave the rich tea flavor, but they have a 10% off Yelp check-in deal for drinks that they've had for some time now, so I can't resist. I also like the Taiwanese shaved ice. One of my favorites where you can choose syrup or they have that brown sugar syrup that I think they always put on, plus toppings like tea jello, coffee jello, boba, condensed milk, a few others and choice of a couple ice cream flavors. I always opt for the green tea. This is a deal at $6 and you can get it for there or to go. They have a menu with options or you can select 5 toppings and create your own. Great shopping center too with lots of places to eat. Parking is if-y, as it's a busy center but there's underground covered parking that usually works out great for us. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service ever. They got our 2 orders wrong. Didn't realize till we sat down then looked closely they didn't add azuki beans, so we told 2 ladies. They said we can pay extra if we want but they are the ones who put in on the wrong order! They even got the ice cream wrong. While I have been a customer of this establishment for a few years, today has forever changed the way I feel about this place and I am boycotting it forever. I was entering the shop, but as I was trying to make it through the dense mass of people in the entrance (poorly designed) my dad tripped over the step. The infamous step (who in their right mind keeps a step like that in their shop and not expect people to fall over). This was the FIRST time my dad has been in the shop and accidentally tripped over. My dad says his hand is hurt and talks to the owner. We ask the owner just to write on a piece of paper that this incident has occurred today (Christmas @ 1pm), but he refuses to do so. The first thing he says is "it's not like I pushed him down" as if he assumes we are going to sue him. We just wanted him to write it down so in case of a medical issue later we are able to prove that it occurred there. This owner needs to have compassion and some respect for his customers instead of the way he treated my family this afternoon. I hope he realizes that his shop should be redesigned and my dad is most likely not the ONLY person who has tripped because of those steps. Because of this owner's claims that these signs are the way to solve this problem, more customers will continuously be subjected to his carelessness and inability to solve what clearly is an issue. read more

ZERO STAR I am forced to give 1 star since yelp doesn't allow for 0. Rude customer service!! Even my 3 year old niece knows what manner is all about. The lady at the cash register (which I assumed is the owner) only allowed 2 spoons per shave ice. If we wanted an extra spoon we'd have to pay for another drink. No one told us this was buffet style? They should have put up a sign that reads "Minimum spending per person is $4" or something. That would have made it clear for us to not step in. We sat in the back of the room and they REFUSED, I repeat, refused to turn on the lights for us. We were forced to eat our shaved ice in the dark. As if that's not enough, this creepy old man with thick glasses, white knee high sock and short shorts keep staring at us. No one deserves to be treated this way. This place needs to attend customer service training. Come at your own risk. All I can say is that I am never heading back here again! read more

I have been tried to find a good bubble milk tea recently. The bubble Milk tea in Pearl Kai which is the same shop but just different branch wasn't that great. This is the main reason I want to try the original shop in Mccully. Milk tea tastes strong enough, the bubble is just right soft and sweet taste. But the worst again is the bubble tea never shake by machine. I asked the sales lady, she told me nowadays the milk tea is premade, and it is not ncecessary to shake by machine. I drank but the bubble milk tea not cold enough. I have to keep shake it by my own hand to keep it colder. It is very disappointed. read more

I went to coffee or tea and my two friends and I ordered this huge shave ice that they provide. one friend just wanted a couple bites of our shave ice. The shave ice came and I asked for another spoon and she told me "sorry this is only made for two". So you're friend has to buy something" I told her "he just wants a couple bites" but she said "sorry but no, he can buy a Rice Krispie or some custard but he can't share this shave ice with you guys its only for two". Not only that my friends are black and Hawaiian. When I came with all my Asian friends they had no problem. Just saying, I felt a little offended for my guy friends. I understand it's your store and you guys have rights to tell me what to do if we are in your cafe but I always come here ,specifically, with my Asian friends and there is never problems with customer service. My guy friends were civil like normal people, they brought no problems and just wanted to eat some shave ice. I am dissapointed that customer service at coffee or tea has come to a point of who the person is as a race. My first and gonna be my last visit on this store. After a good lunch,me and my friends wanted to try this place. As i came in the store, i thought i could sat down while waiting for my friends so we can order at the same time. As i was just seating for less that ten minutes, the worker there named Gordon approached me and asking me to give the seat to the other customers. I was surprised that there are store existing with workers who doesnt have etiquette. Hello??? I am a customer and its only because i didnt ordered right away and this person have to ask me to give my seat! I think you can call that as discrimination! Shame on that worker there! Be nice to all customers because if not to us customers you will not get good business. Hopefully the owner can fix this about their workers. There's something about the milk tea here that often makes me come here and order another one. It's delicious when I'm drinking it, but after, when my stomach hurts because I really don't like milk, I swear to myself that I'll never buy another one of these again. But then...I come back...and order...another one. After the million times I told myself I wouldn't. It's like they add crack to these milk teas because no matter what, I'm addicted to it, even though I don't feel so good after it. The milk teas are definitely the most popular items here, and you can get it with tapioca balls, custard, tea jelly, fruit jelly, etc. They also have other items though, including coffee (hence the name), juices, shaved ice, cheesecakes, and packaged goodies. The prices here are a little expensive for what you would expect, and they only accept cash, but the good thing here is that if you don't have one, there is an ATM right outside the place (FHB). Coffee or Tea is a perfect place to study, with the free Wi-Fi that they have for all of McCully Shopping Center. However, the tables are small and only fit two people, with the exception of one large table in the back. Since it is located in McCully Shopping Center, parking always SUCKS, but the milk tea will make your parking troubles worth it =). read more

Super bad service period ! Their drinks are okay, but the employees/manager/owner don't care about your patronage. Went there to get a dessert with few things after dinner. We're all stuffed and only couple wanted to order drinks/dessert. Over 1/2 of their place is empty. They said we have that many people, need to order more or else please leave. WTF? I have only been here twice, both times disappointed. The first time I tried their thai iced tea. Huge disappointment. They added water to the tea and the overall product was watered down and hard to drink because thai tea requires a certain sweetness to it, which it severely lacked. If they didn't add all the water (and i'm talking about half the cup was filled with water and the other half tea) it would have been pretty good, but that wasn't the case. I decided maybe thai tea just wasn't their thing, so I tried again. I was CRAVING thai iced coffee, which usually consists of a very strong coffee with a little bit of condensed milk, only enough to taste the sweetness. A pretty easy concept that I didnt think they could mess up but in fact they did. The coffee tasted like my homemade cup of coffee, watered down, with milk added to it. Blehhhhh I was so bummed. I figured because of the name of the shop I would have gotten some bomb coffee, but I am sad to say i didn't. I probably won't be going back here again unless I get a recommendation to try something else. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! No customer service skills. When our shave ice was dry & lacking toppings, we kindly asked for more toppings to be added so that our product matched the picture. The young girl behind the counter rudely refused to help us. After rolling her eyes at me, I asked for a refund. I was told "I cannot give you a refund without my manager." When I asked for the manager, the girl gave me the number to the store that we were ALREADY in! After getting mall security & HPD involved, they still refused to accommodate us. I felt I was being discriminated against considering that the customer after me who ordered the SAME product got much better quality & service. Hate to say it, but I don't look like them...do the math. We are taking this up with the Better Business Bureau to get this place shut down. read more
