Cute and tiny coffee shack in the food truck park on Kalakaua
    Andrea M.

This food truck park is near my office and I wanted to try the seasonal latte at Ride and Grind. I usually opt for a basic fall girl PSL but saw they had a banana bread latte. I've heard all about the one at Turtle Bay but haven't made the drive there to try it. I also don't love banana flavored drinks but after loving the banana matcha at Okayama Kobo I wanted to give this a shot. Location: difficult to find nearby parking, I walk here but my friend struggled to find a place to park and opted for a paid lot about 5 minutes away. Service: Barista was nice and drink was ready very quick. 12 oz drink with 15% tip and sub for oat milk was $9.62, a bit pricey but not outside the norm today unfortunately. Drink: The banana bread latte was good. I probably wouldn't order it again but I appreciate a unique specialty seasonal drink. The banana flavor wasn't overpowering but you can definitely taste it. Make sure to stir well Very generous with the caramel. I would've liked a little more coffee flavor. I will go back to try their most popular year round drink, the macadamia nut latte.

Came across this super cute coffee place in between all the food trucks. It stood out because it was the cutest one and I was only looking for coffee after I finished my breakfast. I ordered the iced oat milk latte and my bf got it hot. We both loved our drinks. The barista was super friendly too. Definitely recommend!

Small little spot. The girl was welcoming and friendly. Matcha was decent. Also ordered a danish, it wasn't my favorite, very sweet but it would complement black coffee.

Located in a tiny shack near food trucks! Service was very nice and quick. Paid about $20 for 2 regular sizes drinks which is too pricy imo for what it was. 3/5 Iced Matcha + Oat milk + Mac Nut syrup: This was only okay. Couldn't really taste the matcha or mac nut flavor. 5/5 Iced mac nut oat milk latte: I bought this for my friend and it was amazing! I would highly recommend this combination, and the barista working said it was her favorite too. That first sip definitely punches you in the face and the flavor is strong and incredible.

So good! I ordered an iced americano with macadamia nut syrup and a splash of oat milk. The coffee is smooth and paired well with the other flavors. The drink was not too sweet nor too bitter. It was a great balance. The cafe is a tiny shack with one barista. She was really nice and friendly. She took my order and it was ready pretty quickly too. There's plenty of seating during the early morning for you to enjoy your drink. They also have pastries that I didn't try. I'll definitely be back to try some more! Loved it here.

We ordered a matcha latte and an iced vanilla latte. This stand is located in Waikiki nearby a ton of food trucks. We came around 10am, not too busy and the drinks were made pretty quick. It's a cute little shop and you can get breakfast at one of the trucks next door. The matcha latte was pretty good, personally, you could definitely taste it and I did not get any syrup. Would recommend stopping by for drinks!

Great Local Spot! Ride and Grind Cafe is such a gem--definitely a must-try if you're nearby. The coffee was delicious and clearly made with care. Our barista Mika was the sweetest and made the whole experience even better. Great vibes, great drinks--can't wait to come back!

I ordered iced strawberry matcha with oatmilk from this cute lil shop. The barista was friendly and made my drink right away. The drink its self is good but as a matcha lover, I wish the matcha was stronger. Good vibes, shop is clean but a little small. Overall still pretty good not too sweet

Vanilla mac nut lattes, vanilla latte, chocolate covered strawberry latte

I love small coffee businesses and was excited to try this coffee stand. All the drinks we got were delicious, and I especially loved the vanilla mac nut latte I got. There was only one worker but she was nice and finished our drinks in less than 5 minutes which I did not expect! We're visiting Honolulu for the first time, so it felt fun to get something in this stand/food truck lot.

Coffee was amazing! Definitely recommend the Iced Macadamia Nut Latte just the perfect amount of sweetness. The owner is also so sweet and was very efficient!

The best Dirty Matcha latte in Honolulu great place to stop for your morning coffee. Great service and gave me an extra shot of espresso. Connected to the moped service outside the shop too for transportation around the city.

Happy to have a great option for coffee and matcha available in the mornings in the North Shore

This might be one of the only places in Waikiki open at 4 AM which is perfect if you've just arrived the night before from the East Coast. The inside of the shop feels homey. They have a display case full of pastries along with additional baked goods set out nearby. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

It was less than three dollars including tax, so definitely affordable. The guava filling was great, but the donut itself was kind of bland. If it weren't so cheap, I would have given it three stars. But it was a good deal and I might go back.

This is the only standing Kulu Kulu and I hope this place does not close, or if it does relocate, come closer to Central Oahu where the rent is cheaper, haha (hint). This location is on the outer edges of Waikiki on Hobron Lane in Eaton Square. I rarely venture to Waikiki, and if I do make the dreaded drive to "town", this place and Kan Sushi will be the only regular places where I will make my stop(s), because its so worth it. I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries. I also plan to support this business for as long as I can and make more frequent trips to town just to get these amazing desserts.

I'd never been to their other locations, so this was my first experience -- and honestly, it left an impression. That spot in Kapolei has seen a few restaurants come and go over the years. Before Scratch Kitchen, there was Sugar Cane, and if I reach far enough back, I'm pretty sure a Mexican restaurant lived there too. It's one of those spaces where you hope the next place finally sticks. But the food at Scratch Kitchen? Absolutely delicious. The kind of meal where the pictures alone make your mouth water. If "smell‑a‑vision" or "lick‑your‑screen" technology existed, everyone would understand exactly what I mean. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully done, and perfect for a Mother's Day treat. Which is why I can't help but wonder what happened -- like so many restaurants before them in that same location. With food that good, you'd hope they'd be the ones to break the cycle. All in all, I'm grateful I got to enjoy that meal with my daughter. It was memorable, delicious, and one of those small moments you hold onto. Marie

Either way, it made for a super relaxed experience with no wait and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the food. Loved: The street tacos with the tempura shrimp were easily the star of the meal. 100% worth it. Light, crispy shrimp with a flavorful slaw and just the right amount of heat--basically a flavor party in every bite. The burger was another quiet star. Juicy patties, nicely seasoned, and stacked just right. Nothing super flashy, but really satisfying. Definitely a good pick if you're not in the mood for brunchy stuff. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.
