This place just opened a couple months ago. The nail salon before them was great and I got along well with the technicians and owners. Because of my positive experiences I had great expectations. First time I went in, the technician was obviously sick, coughing all over her hands and wiping her nose. I thought it was a very reasonable request to politely ask her to wash her hands. She took offense to this and this started a downward spiral. I am very picky about my manicures, and asked her to correct a few nails that were uneven/did not match. She got progressively more passive aggressive, at one point saying "can I please finish now? THANK you" and that I should "get solar nails next time if you want them to be even..." This lady was clearly offended by my suggestions and took it very personally that I wanted a good job done. Let me clarify I have spent years in customer service so I know how to be a respectful customer. I have also been to a number of salons, where I usually tell people what I want upfront to avoid misunderstandings. I have never had a problem with another salon. Afterwards, I was very satisfied with the job and I paid the $35 bill and tipped $15 because I think a good job deserves good feedback. Next time I walked into the place for a french, they sat me down and started the manicure. Halfway through, they told me they would not be able to finish because there was no one there able to do a french, the only technician (the one I had last time) was "busy with an appointment" even though she had just sat down to do my friend's nails, who specified she was free to do mine first. They maintained she was not available. So basically they finished half my manicure before telling me the girl refused to work with me, and I walked out with my nails half done. Needless to say I am shocked at how unprofessional this was, specially since I had been polite, tipped OVER 40%, and have never had any sort of problem with a salon before. The only thing I could be faulted for is asking her to do a very precise manicure, and this technician acted as if she had a strong personal vendetta against me. I will definitely not be returning to this location. In addition, I posted this review on Facebook, and was told by the salon that I "came in with a negative attitude", "the technicians were too intimidated to do my nails", and "it is your fault you drove away the technicians." The customer service at this institution is nonexistent and laughable. FYI, beware the reviews of this place that are over a month old. The place changed owners recently. The previous owner was fabulous and any 5 star reviews older than a month were WELL deserved but unfortunately don't apply anymore!
EDIT:
Please read the comments left below by the business.
"You came in without an appointment" --this is true. But upon walking in I said I needed a shellac manicure, French, and that I was a little tight on time. I was told no problem, please sit down.
"You wanted them 100% perfect or would refuse to pay" --this is an outright lie. I would NEVER refuse to pay for services rendered. If I was not satisfied, I would pay, STILL TIP, and just never return.
"Tears started to fall out of her eyes" --outright lie. She said, "I'm sorry this removal is taking so long." And I said "that's fine take your time, do you do shellac often?" Which she might have taken as criticism, but that is a failure of communication and I assure you even if it may have been misconstrued, it was a very mild interaction.
"We refused you service" --outright lie. They told me they could do my nails, just not a french. What they told me in the salon was "I'm so sorry, this girl is new. She just told me right now she cannot do French manicures, we were not aware of this. We can do a solid color if you would like"
"Thought we were cousins" --irrelevant. But anyway, my roommate thought this, wrong person.
"No matter how much you pay we are not slaves" --this is a HORRENDOUS thing to say. I am appalled. I have worked 5+ years in customer service. I am not trying to pay to disrespect anyone. I mentioned my tip because it shows I am not nearly as cheap and crooked as this salon is trying to make me out to be.
This comment shows how desperate this salon is to keep an unsullied reputation that they would SLANDER their customer to come off as the cruelest most monstrous customer possible. I have been getting mani/pedis every month for years and as you can see I created this yelp account specifically to review this business because I was shocked how unprofessional they were. Now I am shocked at how UNETHICAL this business is. Please read my review on their Facebook page and their comment there so you can see for yourself the inconsistencies and GROSS EXAGGERATIONS between their stories on Facebook and Yelp. I believe this salon's comments speak for themselves. read more
